Our evening at Joys today was excellent! The location gave us the feeling of a city trip in another country, service was top, both ladies were very friendly, attentive without any rush! Our food was excellent, sea bass in salt dough was a dream, thank you Timo 🙏 thank you all for the wonderful culinary evening!

Coming to Basel a week every month. This is the best place with the best meal I have had in all my visits. Delicious food. Super friendly and yes cozy in Basel is possible. Joys is a joy.

I was there at Vogel Gryff. The service only spoke English. I find that disturbing. The Leberli with Rösti was very good. 👍 But I find the price of 44Chf to be too expensive. Strangely enough, we didn't see a memory card that day either 🤔 Otherwise I can recommend the place.

After we discovered when we entered the restaurant that there were no free seats despite having made a reservation, the landlady tried to find an acceptable solution and apologized with a nice aperitif. She presented and explained the manageable menu in the form of a blackboard at the table. The plates are beautifully presented and the portions are generous. The chef is given great respect for his willingness to experiment. It was a successful evening for us and we would love to have another one when we visit the heart of Kleinbasel.

This might be my new favorite restaurant! The service is great, the servers are kind and honest. The food is incredible, their chef could work for a Michelin star restaurant(I’m pretty sure he has). They also have a big range of authentic cocktails. The location is in the middle of the city but without the busyness that the center normally has.

Wonderfully uncomplicated and stylish location! We were well looked after. Wine selection excellent. Fine Grüner Veltliner from the Knoll winery and, for the main course, great Spanish wine from the Ribera del Duero! Tartar to die for and very aromatic flank steak. I don't know how it could be better. Full compliments, we'll be back!

A gem for a small restaurant, with congenial staff, soothing decor and delicious wines. We thoroughly enjoyed both the 1st course and the main dishes. First course was a garden fresh salad for her, with a rhubarb/asparagus soup for myself. The soup exceeding expectations. My partner had “Joy” pasta and I had the aged pork cutlet with asparagus. With the exception of tenderness, my cutlet was exceptional, both in flavor and presentation. The house wine is also well above average, plus another bottle we chose from the wine list was equally palatable.

Wonderful evening. Pleasant atmosphere, very homely due to its small size, quirky interior that definitely has its charm, very tasty food! and friendly and courteous service. Gladly again :)

Small menu with 3 starters, 3 main courses - meat, fish or vegetarian and dessert of the day. We had cream of asparagus soup and tartare. Both very good. The main course was perch fillet and our choice of ravioli with asparagus. Unfortunately we had to wait a little long for the main course. Dessert was lukewarm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately it was decorated with cinnamon and I am absolutely not a fan of cinnamon. But all in all the food was really very good. The Aperol Spritz variation is also highly recommended. Reservation is recommended as it is a very small restaurant.

My favourite restaurant in Basel. The food is locally sourced and tastes exceptionally fresh and flavoursome; the quality of the food speaks for itself, so it doesn't need to be overly seasoned (I had a traditional Swiss pork chop and pasta, but there are many other options). The wine by the glass is good value given how high the quality is; I had a superb glass of Austrian white (chardonnay from memory), a delicious Spanish rioja and an unusual but delicious Italian sparkling (made the traditional method and not prosecco). I was dining alone with a book, and the hostess made me feel very welcome; the interior is decorated beautifully and there are some stunning pieces of art on the walls. I would recommend booking a reservation in advance as this restaurant is unsurprisingly popular with locals. Without doubt, I will eat here again when I am next in Basel.

Last night we ate a very tasty Wienerschnitzel with perfectly cooked Baden asparagus. From the small but fine wine list we chose the Sauvignon Blanc Grassnitzerberg 2016 from Tement, 75.— is a fair price😘. Lively ambience, unique, cool and highly recommended.

Joys is a very special little restaurant tucked away in Old Klein Basel. The owner, Anina, is a lovely Basler full of joie de vivre and when I asked about the name of the restaurant she explained that she is also a fan of the writer Joyce so for her it was a nice blend. Food: The new chef, Timo, is excellent and he brings to Anina's brasserie his Michelin pedigree and refinement. It shows in the food quality, the food cookery and, most importantly, the seasoning. Working in a ghastly small kitchen he is literally making magic happen. You don't want to miss this! Drink: They have a delightful selection of moderately priced wines, some of which are very very good. The cocktail menu is limited as there is no bartender, but we tried the cocktails and what they can make is made well. Timo and his team make this small inviting restaurant into an amazing experience with great cocktails, an outstanding wine selection and breathtaking presentation and food. This is a great restaurant to go to daily or as a special treat now and then. It always gets better and better.
