Kuhn Back & Gastro AG in Winterthur

For me the croissants are dry and tasteless. The price is, in my opinion, CHF 1.70 high.

Expensive prices, despite self-service and unfriendly staff.

Sales were around CHF 50, we still didn't want tea, and we were back at the table for a moment until tea was ready, I just asked that I would like a second bag, then she called out in front of everyone to PAY FIRST! So rude! Other person who was getting the tea ready said very quietly, which I think was intentional, that the tea is ready! Pity!

Very friendly service, I regularly get my coffee and breakfast there

Friendly, good products, varied and good value for money. For me the first port of call for a very good double espresso 👍 Unfortunately only self-service.

Yesterday I was at Kuhn Back & Gastro around lunchtime. It was my first time here and I looked at the delicious displays. A very friendly lady asked me what I wanted. At the counter I then ordered a focaccia NY style and a drink. Then, fortunately, I found a free table, which I first had to do a rudimentary job of cleaning of breadcrumbs. The focaccia was baked very crispy, i.e. no longer fluffy as focaccia typically is, was generously filled and tasted quite good. Next time I probably wouldn't eat there again. The concept didn't convince me. I particularly found the lack of cleaning of tables and chairs annoying and unappetizing.

I visit the Kuhn bakery at Gertrudstrasse 1 in Winterthur every day. For me, this bakery is unbeatable. A big thank you goes to Ms. Janette Völkner. This woman truly practices her profession with a lot of drive and passion. Even when things are very hectic in the bakery, Ms. Völkner always maintains a stoic calm and always carries out work with the greatest precision. In addition, she is always extremely friendly, helpful, cheerful and well-disposed. A blessing that is absolutely not to be taken for granted. This woman has a high level of social skills. Social skills are crucial for any success. For me (this also applies to numerous friends of mine) Ms. Völkner is a great asset to the Kuhn Bakery. Thank you very much, dear Ms. Völkner. Quality ok. However, something is always forgotten. It wouldn’t be a big deal, but then “she doesn’t mind that!” just gets upset.

I wanted to get a coffee with oatmilk and the employee told me twice in a unfriendly manner that the coffee usually doesn't come with milk. I honestly never had a problem with getting a coffee with milk at ANY place and was just confused by her statement and behavoir.

Good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Coffee is also okay.

Self-service, unqualified staff and unfriendly… It's a shame, it wasn't always like that. Subjectively speaking, since self-service was introduced. Oh yes... when employees gossip about their colleagues and the customers notice - that's not possible 🤦🏼‍♂️

We were there on a Sunday around 1:30 p.m The tables were not cleared (an older couple who had difficulty walking were asked to clear their dishes very directly and briskly, it was self-service after all), tables were not wiped down either, the floor was extremely dirty & with a lot of crumbs & cutlery, etc., the staff preferred to have conversations with guests at the counter instead of paying attention to their work, these same guests later stood behind the sales counter in their private clothes, very monosyllabic/annoyed service at the sales counter, as if things were going too slowly for them or were too slow for them everything too again

Unfortunately, self-service is new, it's a shame that this service has been abolished. But the price of a cappuccino at CHF 5.40 is too expensive if you have to do the work for the staff. I like to choose cafes that stand out from a Migros restaurant with friendly service. Under these circumstances, I will no longer be using this cafe as regularly as I have been up to now.

Sad cake selection! My mouth dries up just looking at it. As an alternative, I chose a croissant with the bowl, but that is also available in the same unpretentious quality at the wholesaler around the corner. Loveless!

It was love at First sight. sweet and salt together. As soon as you approach the scents are inviting ideal for a snack the pizza is very good

For me, ice cream is my favorite coffee!! Very friendly staff and delicious delicacies. The bread rolls are super delicious and the brunch is really affordable!! Anyway, I know it's a tough job!!! Thank you♥️

The breads are very tasty but unfortunately there is not a single vegan bread. The lady behind the counter was quite unfriendly and abrupt.

It's a shame for the good morning and the friendly (serving) staff. But since ? is the new concept. If you want a big breakfast or a coffee in the restaurant, you have to wait in line, like if you buy a roll across the aisle/counter. It doesn't work at all 👀

I've been here again for a while and I'm a little disappointed - now self-service is 2 cappuccinos (CHF 5.50 each) and 2 drinks (CHF 3.90 each) for 18.80. The cashier wasn't particularly friendly and we had to wait a long time even though the cafe was almost empty. A pity. Self-service is okay but then the price would have to be adjusted

The self-service doesn't work!!!! It's a shame, with so many staff just standing around drinking something and eating biscuits you could expect something different. Good products, but some very unfriendly staff.

I find the products at Kuhn Back very tasty. The croissants and coffee are great! The cashiers in particular are always helpful and friendly. The only thing I find a bit unfortunate is that the coffee is a bit too expensive. But otherwise everything is good. My recommendation! ;)

Prices are okay There is no piece of bread with scrambled eggs. And that at a bakery 🤣🤣 The general mood among the staff leaves a lot to be desired.

Today I visited the Kuhn bakery in Winterthur. Very friendly staff. Ms. Schwizer from the store in particular gave us very competent advice. Despite the large influx of customers, she remained friendly and well-positioned. We'd love to come back.

Very nice cafe. You feel really comfortable thanks to the modern and at the same time homely furnishings. The service was okay. The waiting times are also completely okay. And the food is great. We can warmly recommend the scrambled eggs and Bircher muesli.

Was in the restaurant of this bakery yesterday and have not seen team cohesion this bad in a long time. The employee Melanie Niederer was unfriendly and arrogant to us and neither said goodbye nor tried to answer our questions about celiac disease (wheat allergy). It's just sad when, as an expert, you can't answer a question like that... The last time we were there we preferred to get something from the Migros bakery….

Price performance is not right for me. Quality ok. Quantity good. Hygiene is moderate. It was (winter) very cold (with a jacket) and uncomfortable.

The best braided bread in Winterthur

I've tried a lot of different braids, and I like the Kuhn one the best by far. It's just a shame that I was in the store again this Saturday at 3 p.m. in vain - braids were sold out! Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time this happened to me. The shop is open until 6 p.m., so you should be able to buy one or two braids 3 hours beforehand.

Unfriendly, unsympathetic, rude staff! Every time without exception! Affects almost all staff. I've been watching this for years. The new ones that come along are also unfriendly from now on. Kuhn Winterthur = unfriendly staff!

Today, Saturday, there were a lot of people. Without a reservation, you can't have breakfast on the weekend. As always, I parked in the parking garage of the renovated Neuwiesen shopping center. Service was friendly. In addition to the buffet, you can also get cheaper, smaller breakfasts. You shouldn't imagine the buffet as a huge one. But there is enough for everyone and what is missing can be reordered, but you can also pay separately.

Very nice bakery chain. Known for a number of fabulous pastries, pizza slices, sandwiches and very good coffee. As a nice touch you always get a baked good of the day along with your coffee. If you like cozy bakeries with great coffee this is a place to visit. Very busy during rush hour in the mornings as well as over lunch.

Well located, just behind the train station. Treats to take away or eat in house.

Very good baked goods, always fresh and "tasty". Good service, friendly staff. Very busy, so there are waiting times, unfortunately a few guests don't understand this and don't behave like a guest or write a very personal and negative review, which is a shame.

Went for breakfast today. Everything is wonderful. Very courteous service, looked for extra space between the reserved tables. It's not going so well for good reason. Thanks and keep it up!

Nicely decorated but very rude and disrespectful staff. After a coffee and croissants, I said that I wanted to pay and wanted to add with a card without listening to me, the staff went to the cash register and back and wanted to collect at the table. When I said I wanted to pay by card I got a look from the staff that made me so uncomfortable. Four out of five of the staff were in a very bad mood and didn't enjoy their job, which was clearly visible. But why do you treat the customer so badly? Never but never again. I recommend Migros Hausbäckerei or Resti.

The food was good and the espresso was great

This is actually a bakery, but the chicken salad is the only thing they consistently get right. Other salads, pastries, bread and sandwiches are nothing to write home about and thus, rather disappointing especially considering the price range. The staff is ok but obviously overworked.

Indecent staff, at least one dressed up blonde with sprayed lips. He didn't respond several times when we reordered something. Clearly ignored our request. We were right next to the counter. Such unmotivated staff would fly with me.

Some of waiters are quite nervous and they reflect this negative energy to us. The brunch buffet is limited and meat production is more than cheese and vegetables. Because of that, we changed our idea and bought a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich tastes nice. The coffee is 4 stars from 5. The atmosphere is good but should be developed.
