Was turned away at take-away on Monday at 6:45 p.m. They would only be open from 7 p.m. However, the opening times on the website are from 6 p.m. It's a shame, they say the food is supposed to be good...

I can highly recommend the restaurant « am Rank » for a special evening. The food is a bit expensive but delicious, the staff is very friendly and attentive, and the music is great to listen to. The concert only lasts so long that you have enough time to exchange ideas with your loved ones. Ideal cultural mix of cuisine, music and cozy get-togethers.

Zurich once again has a cultural venue with very fine food, good music (this evening's jazz festival is unheard of) and very attentive, friendly and expert service. A joy!

Amazing atmosphere, definitely go for the music and not only dinner! 3-dishes are enough if you are not extremely hungry - try to get a table just infront of the stage.

Yummy, modern take on Swiss food. We went with the 4-course meal and loved the starters and main especially. We like the farm-to-table concept. Tender meat, excellent fish, and lots of veggies (which is sth that often restaurants skimp out on). The natural wines were hit and miss (we tried a lot and loved some, others less so; the more conventional wines were reliably excellent) The staff was wonderful: attentive and helpful. The live music after the meal was not for every taste but we liked listening to music we might not usually listen to and the experimental vibes even made us boogie a littke. All and all we had a really good evening!

Am Rank is a unique place, right in the middle of Zurich's old town (Niederdorf). The young team is great, the cuisine is extremely tasty and creative (also the best selected wines) and the concerts, which take place every Thursday to Saturday, are enchanting. Be sure to go and unwind.

Wonderful lunch on the outdoor patio. We tried the beef burger, Piccanha, Cheesy Bite, and Okonomiyaki Nuggets. Everything was fresh and delicious. The local hazelnut Gelavena was a perfect finishing touch.

The restaurant has a very good location among the Niederdörfli, which is nice! We sat outside, cause inside it was pretty dark. We ordered the surprise menu for 83 franks. The food was also good, the portions pretty small though. The service was friendly. To summarize, it was very expensive and for this, we didn't get enough, so to say. For example, the same glas for prosecco was used for the red wine. Or the cuttlery stayed the same and was not exchanged. In general I don't care, but if I pay 83 franks, I expect a different quality of service (and food). For drinks I would go there again, to eat not.

Came here solo. They let me do the tasting menu as it all sounded great and I didn’t want to make the decision! Was wonderful food.

Had my wedding lunch there and was extremely impressed by Michaela's ability to meet our families's expectations. It's not easy to accommodate families from different cultures at the same time, especially with picky kids. However, she mastered it perfectly, of course, that also goes for her team. Keep up the good work on food (and tasty brews) and we will forever come back! Would give 6 stars if I could!

As I am a big fun of authentic restaurants... I will tell you in depth about my experience. The place is sort of a fusion of art, jazz, and culinary. All the products are high-quality and carefully sourced from local and sustainable farms. 26-years old head chef Michaela Frank has taken a contemporary approach to Swiss cuisine in Rank. Their signature dish, "Congee" is inspired by Michaela's mother, who is from Shanghai. The dish is never the same and constantly changes depending on the season, mood, and the products they have in the kitchen, but the basic idea is always the same. I am happy that I stumbled upon this place because for me personally it connects everything that I love and shares similar values - Jazz, art and sustainable dishes.

Good restaurant with an interesting culinary concept, sourcing food locally and putting much attention on the ingredients. This is reflected on the menu, which consequentially it is more focused on the quality rather than on the quantity (4-5 choices for entree and main course each). Broad vegetarian options available. Friendly staff, room a bit too dark for my personal taste. Prices in line with this type of restaurants in Zürich and with the quality of the ingredients. Overall very good experience.

The food was quite nice, but the wine list desperately needs an overhaul. There are many great Swiss wines - but unfortunately there is little to be found on the menu (which only has Swiss wines)...

We went for dinner including a concert on a Saturday evening. It was an incredibly great event! From the food to the concert (Fergus McCreadie) we loved it! The food itself is very tasty, good portions and fair prices. The service was very friendly, familiar and professional. Definitely a place to come back. The only downside: the restaurant and around our table were rather loud.

Came because of the wonderful music by Florian Favre and discovered a gourmet restaurant in a class of its own! The 5-course Chef's Session (if anything) was enjoyed (!) and the four of us agreed: we haven't eaten something so incredibly tasty in a long time. Diverse, imaginative, skilful, harmonious, “best goods”, simply first class. This is the upper league of really big cuisine and in a very casual atmosphere. That's how I like it! The service was very friendly, the wine recommendations were top. And just: the music at the end is the icing on the cake. The store simply has style. Class. Next level. Thank you for the very nice evening!

Food is good but overpriced and tiny portions. Service sucks for this price level. After paying for an expensive meal, we were 'instructed' to pay another 20CHF (each) to stay for the show! This was for a group of 9 people. We refused and were shown the exit - via the back door alley! The mentality of this restaurant is that you should be grateful that they allow you to sit there. I love jazz but this place takes themselves much too seriously. Its nothing special.

It's the people fromrechnerg who run this wonderful restaurant. Finally you can eat well again in Niederdorf. Very good to be precise, with a lot of ideas and imagination! And then there are very harmonious concerts on weekends. Great! Bravo!

Nice food. Noisy, even without live music not easy to have a talk with the person you are having dinner with. Pleasant informal service, but after the dessert had to wait a very long time for one of them to show up again.

The service was very good. The atmosphere is very nice, but unfortunately the food is not typical of a restaurant of this category. The dishes are very well presented but not well prepared. Everything very salty and oily.

Very interesting restaurant! I loved the young, hip and at the same time very high class feel of the place. The menu was extremely interesting, they show you vegan and vegetarian options without leaving out the meat in case you want to have some. The drinks with local liqueurs were super interesting! Sad not to have experienced the Jazz part. But I will for sure come again. Keep it up!

Ordered: starters to share, beef tongue, polenta, gnocchi, fish of the day. +Friendly staff +Good ambience +Manageable menu +Local beer +Concert +Homemade sodas +/- Negroni is an aperitif that is consumed BEFORE a meal to stimulate the appetite --> That's why I wouldn't have offered it during the concert --> Digestif as a suggestion (why does it always have to be with alcohol?) -Wrong order taken (you could list the order verbally again at the end) -Price/performance rather poor -The explanation of the appetizer for sharing was not inviting (needs better training, for this price!)

The food is amazing!! We've been there twice and ordered 'Chef's Choice' each time. Then you get a combination of 4 courses (snack, starter, main course, dessert). Since there were 4 of us there, we were able to try practically every dish once and swap. And afterwards you are really full. Price is also great (80.-/90.- for 4 courses) and we are always happy to give tips to such a great team!! My personal favorite restaurant in Zurich!!

Cool concept. Super food where the value chain is right from start to finish. At the end of the week there will be a live concert in the evening. Young, hip and very nice staff. Top! 👍

Very nice place with good service and attention to customers. In the weekend they also have a life band and the atmosphere is nice.

We ate well, especially the “Farina Bona” was really good. The other two dishes perhaps a little salty for our taste. Good dessert and wine. Extremely courteous and helpful staff. The bill is quite expensive, but for Zurich I would say absolutely moderate: 120 CHF for three dishes, two glasses of wine, a soft drink, a coffee and a dessert. The location is nice

The Am Rank describes themselves on IG as “Food Drink Concerts” which pretty much sums up what they want to do. But in my eyes and with the impression I got at brunch on Saturday morning, it is much more than these words. They are filled with life by the on-site team and it is fun and enjoyable to dine in the place where hours before the piano and drums were being cared for, where there was loud singing and probably one or two rude jokes 😊. If you know Züri and the location of Am Rank, everyone knows that this district is a tourist destination during the day and attracts night owls of all stripes in the evening. And then living this concept is mega. The kitchen was simply awesome, I haven't had this much joy in the morning for a long time🙏🏻😋😋. And then a word about the service, I just felt really well looked after and am grateful for every wonderful espresso that was left out for me 😂😂. Please stay as you are, many guests will thank you and come precisely because of you and your concept. 🎼🍴🎸🙏🏻😊I'll definitely be happy to come back. Goodbye!

What should you say? Cool concept - hip interior - eat very well. Unfortunately you have to order about 3 portions of bread (6.50 each) to fill you up. The portions are small, the price is extremely high and there is a cool 45 minute break between the starter and the main course. Service staff is somewhere between want-to-be-cool and German-arrogant. We were there for the first and certainly the last time.

i liked the vibe and would like to try many of their dishes but realized that it was becoming too loud. we were seated on the left side (where the band was going to perform) among many other couples on the tables nearby and everybody was talking loudly. but overall, the food was delicious food and the staff nice.
