Interesting atmosphere. Lots of food from different countries. Unfortunately the portions are too big for us older people!

Magnificent place in a vast hall where restorations from around the world rub shoulders. At the right place for a meeting with friends or family. Twice a year a ceramic market takes place. You can meet artisan potters from all over Switzerland there.

Good food from great variety of international food stalls

Always comfortable. The only disadvantage: you smell like a snack after a visit 😄

Great location to eat or drink. There is something for everyone. The concept is simply that there are many smaller providers in one large hall. Each of these smaller providers specializes in something. One offers homemade Italian pasta, another exotic dishes, another Asian dishes, etc. This is very similar with drinks. The Bier Revier offers open beers from one of the 40 taps or the countless bottles and cans in the fridge. There are dozens of different wines in the Vinotek next door. There is plenty of seating in the market hall. There are also special events and occasions in the market hall at regular intervals. The market hall is a short walking distance from the SBB train station. Furthermore, the Elisabethen Parking is almost right below. Getting there is therefore very easy. The market hall is recommended.

It seems rare to find places like this. Many artisan food stalls, mostly high quality with nice people serving.

The building alone is worth a visit, but it's the life inside that makes it so special. If you go at lunch or on an evening you have an amazing selection of food and drink from around the world. Tastes and prices to suit everyone and family friendly too. A real gem. We opted for a beer (Thornbridge on tap) and a Sri-Lankan curry.

It is self-service so I cannot judge. Many choices and a good atmosphere. I would go on time to ensure you can have a table of choice.

We loved it ! A place with several stands offering cuisines from different countries: Japan, Argentina, Venezuela, Persia, ... Really great, we ate very well at the Japanese 👍 In addition there are tables for eating and we give back the plates to wash which is more ecological: a must in the city for eating!

Clear case of “that’s how it works”. Concrete ambience, moon prices, hustle and bustle and wooden chairs. You don't stay there longer than absolutely necessary.

Huge room with several food stalls - your physical well-being is taken care of. There is a level of noise, but this also means that children seem even more welcome than I am.

Great place to eat nearby the station, plenty of options, various prices. Usually a place where office workers spend time (and 🤑) for lunch, so it can be pretty busy at lunchtime.

A large market hall with many small stands offering different country cuisine.

Amazing choice of dishes from all over the world. Most of them excellently cooked. The markthalle itself is a bit loud and it’s easy to loose oversight. There are fortunately rooms such as the Wohnzimmer to dine where it’s not so echoey. Both burger places are amazing, great Thai, Sushi, and I also love the Ukrainian dishes. The only booth I can’t recommend is the pasta. Slow, massively overpriced and mediocre taste.

A fantastic place where you can try cuisine from many corners of the world. There are a lot of people at lunchtime and sometimes it's hard to find a place to sit. I have personally tried Turkish dishes and I highly recommend it.

Atmosphere was really nice with the feel of like a real marketplace. There’s so many vendors selling various cuisines, swiss, Mediterranean, japanese, thai etc.. it is more relax than many of restaurants in Switzerland, which usually demand people to be quiet etc. here u can have fine while dining with family. Unfortunately i don’t have any photo to offer. Was so engrossed in the experience. Food taste can definitely be better

Wide range of beers and food court is pretty decent. Unfortunately the hall is a bit loud with the sound bouncing off the walls.

Stan street food expensive but open in the evening expensive but there is a slide to go to the toilet the slide is worth the detour

Good spot for casual family snack/coffee/breakfast/lunch/dinner weekdays and weekends. Atmosphere: streetfood festival but indoors. Meaning, lots of food stalls, (a lot of times) lines for ordering/paying, standing/sitting ppl eating, loud conversations etc. There’s a lot of space for kids to play and run around. Unfortunately the airflow in this building is very poor - be warned: your clothes & hair/body will definitely be smelling like you stood directly in front of a smoking grill all day.

We came to Markthalle, which is among the must-see places in Mulhouse. I can't say it's a perfect place, but it's worth seeing. Almost all the shops in Mulhouse are closed on Sunday, so most of the shops were closed here too, but in a tiny shop, we had delicious pancakes and pitas from a sister of ours who has been abroad for twenty years. We ate the pita and he offered us tea. I was very happy. I recommend all the guests who stop by Markthalle to try these beautiful pitas and pastries. Indoor market offering options from all over the world for lunch and dinner. Also a place where they organize flea markets or music sessions. Visiting at any time is recommended!

This is a fab place to go for a first date - loads of choice, relaxed and casual surroundings and it is very popular. There are lots of different cuisines to explore and lots of places to buy drink too. The domed ceiling is really impressive too. I was a bit shocked by the prices considering it is mostly street food - more than 20 francs for a main course generally, but food is expensive in Basel generally.

Above all, the in-house market hall bar is great and inexpensive ✨😊

A really great market hall with various food stalls. Life really pulsates here. You can choose between Afghan Turkish, Greek, Italian, Thai, Persian Gulf, Vietnamese and much more - there is a coffee bar and various options. There is also an ice cream parlor, everything is freshly prepared. I always enjoy going here

Lots of choice on meals with prices, unfortunately, medium-high. Still a nice place to spend time, even with friends. Now even more organized with product returns.

You get your own food, sit on beer tent benches in a huge hall and there is a lot of activity at lunchtime. The food itself was tasty, but also relatively expensive and staying in the hall, which was extremely noisy due to the concrete dome and the many people, was anything but pleasant for me. I would advise a tourist to go in and have a look, but you don't necessarily have to stay to eat.

Rich selection, affordable prices.

It's absolutely enough for the lunch break. 👍 What I find interesting is that Ukrainian food is available. But no North African or Arab food in general. You should rethink this, because not only Ukraine is special, but other countries at war also deserve a chance!!!

Its a food court stille. The Ukrainian vegetable bortch was amazing. And also the food at Flavours of Jerusalem was really good.

It is an incredible place where you can visit the entire world through food. From Asia to south america and everything in between. Truly amazing.

Very nice place with lots of different food options. There is a small play area for small children and a slide that is also for children (~ from 4 years old for the slide). I would have liked to give it 5 stars but the stalls close much earlier than stated on Google and so you may pass by and only 1-4 stalls are still open

A very special corner in Basel. Here indoors you can indulge in the choice of food. Not all the countries of the world are present (it should be at least 10 times larger) but there are still about fifteen countries present. Absolutely worth trying.

Great unused market hall. There are now various opportunities to try food from all over the world and it's nice to linger. Nice atmosphere and also suitable for children. There is a play area and a slide on the escalator. Nicely done.

In the afternoon, obviously not all the halls are open, but you can have a drink there and it is easily accessible. Some games for children.

It is very loud. You have to like that. But the different alternatives you have to eat are fantastic. The concept is good. We went to the Peruvian. It was good and plentiful. Gladly again.

Great atmosphere, thanks to the many foods there was an almost unlimited selection of dishes from different countries and therefore at a better level 😉

Supper alternative to the Christmas market in Basel

We chose Markthalle as catering for our Christmas dinner in the brewhouse and were thrilled, you set everything up super quietly during our presentation. The food was delicious, there was enough and the staff were very friendly. Gladly again!

According to official opening times, the market hall is also open on Sundays at 11.30 a.m. Unfortunately, 80% of all stands were unoccupied during our visit. That was extremely unfortunate. The visit wasn't worth it at all. Nevertheless, the offer looked attractive, I would give it a second try

I love it, well located, good restaurants, a lot of variety of food, very good service, clean bathrooms, pleasant atmosphere.

Delicious food, both the pho and pad thai

So much choice, I love it! We chose Persian Gulf. Was delicious! Choosing between 4 vegetarian and 4 meat dishes was not easy. With 2 vegetarian and 2 meat dishes for 25 SFr, there was a large portion on the plate. The saffron rice pudding desert was rather inconspicuous.

Of course I can’t review it just based on what I ate since in there, there is a LOT of different foods. I only tried out the ones I saw as interesting. I wanted to try a lot more but I can only eat so much. Based on what I saw and ate I would rate this place pretty well since out of the 5 stuff I ate I like 3 of them. Tho I gotta warn since a lot of places only take cash (I have no idea why). This is probably my only crisis. Also u gotta be careful where you step since there is a lot of up and downs, it will be marked but still whem you carry around food around a crowded place I can easily imagine some accidents happeneing. Which is why I give atmosphere 3 stars.
