I tried two of their panettone: the cranberry one in the shape of a plum cake and the apricot one. Both seem to me to have worsened in quality compared to last year. The dough was less honeycombed and drier. The product was very sweet, plus the topping makes it even sweeter. I have known La Bottega del Fornaio for many years and I have always appreciated the quality of the products, the respect for tradition, but also the great commitment to always offering new products. I have been vegan for some time and I had already had the opportunity to taste the delicious vegan croissants offered daily. I tried to contact the shop for the creation of my wedding cake. The pastry chefs launched themselves into the "vegan wedding cake" venture with great enthusiasm, offering us various alternatives and preparing various tastings for us. The result was a sponge cake with Chantilly cream, meringue, chopped pistachios and fresh fruit. The cake was excellent and was enjoyed by all the guests. Also wonderful from an aesthetic point of view! Furthermore, various vegan desserts are available in the shop (tea biscuits and tarts), also perfect in case of egg or lactose intolerance, and much more to order.

Panettone tastes good to very good. But too dry. Should have more moisture in the dough. A pity. Also more expensive than the very good and award-winning competing product from Capelli in Eastern Switzerland.
