We had the opportunity to sleep there for 1 night during our Dents du Midi trek and it was by far the best cabin for me. Cut off from all networks, the smile of the owner and the food. It reminded me of my winter camps with school, simple things in good company and conducive to meeting people.

The mattresses are only a few centimeters thick and ~40 cm wide: impossible to turn around during the night without touching your neighbor whose mattress is stuck to yours, on both sides. Personally I didn't sleep all night. I would have preferred to have a mattress on the floor in the refectory.

Very very disappointed. Very light evening meal (no protein), even less substantial morning meal unless you add money for the royal formula. Bed way too small. I love this refuge. It is the most "remote" one on the Tour des Dents du Midi. There are no showers, but cold water to rinse yourself. The guardians have changed since I was last here 10 years before my visit this year, and the food is now creative and interesting. We had north African soup and main course, both vegetarian for our dinner, as an example. The lunches we got for our picnics were large and came in a little souvenir cloth bag - so sweet ! There is no phone signal here - thank god. Feels like you have truly gotten "away from it all" when you arrive here. Just peaceful views, and the company of other people and maybe some marmots. The water that comes to the refuge is delicious and super cold. A very special place to enjoy on your hike around the Dents du Midi.
