La Chotte - The Secret Place in Arolla in Evolène

Nice refreshment bar, beautiful panorama

This is a fantastic place. Both in summer and winter. Twenty-five years ago, it was run by a somewhat grungy old man with two small dogs, but even then everyone was hospitably received. Now the service is at its best! A small menu with extremely well-prepared tasty dishes. Highly recommended to just walk there, as a last stop before the village after a long mountain tour or as an anchorage during or after skiing!

I arrived very late afternoon from lake Dixance and the lady running the cafe made me a delicious halumi burger and an artesian ginger drink. Perfect to get me on the last part of my journey - and in a great and unexpected setting.

Wonderful cabin serving hot food, snacks and drinks. Located up above the village of Arolla alongside a mountain path and by one of the pistes in Winter. A great place to take a rest and enjoy the stunning views of Mont Collin and the Aiguille de la TSA.

La Chotte, above Arolla, is a friendly and warm little refreshment bar. It is open in summer and winter. In summer, it's about a 10-minute walk on an easy path from Arolla. In winter, you can access it on skis from the “Fontanesse 1” ski lift. You can also go there on foot or by snowshoe from Arolla by the same route as in summer.

Simple, cheap products - a bit of a long wait

Stopped by in the summer at the end of our hike. The lemon tart I had was fantastic and really hit the spot. The beer helped too!
