La Soupière in Zürich

Our experience at La Soupière was mixed. We were welcomed into the restaurant and seated at our table in a very pleasant manner. The first surprise was that we were offered a more restrictive menu given that it was Valentine's day - this was hard to have known before, given that the restaurant's website was down. During our meal things went mostly well, with a few notable exceptions: - the waiter mixed up the main courses between me and my partner - we were given white chocolate mousse, when we asked for a different desert (regular chocolate mousse) - we asked a clarifying question about our desert to one of the waiters that did not speak English (who acted as if he did understand what we were saying). Unfortunately he just said "yes" to our question and then brought us two more desserts which we did not want. In the end, our main waiter apologised for the confusion, but by that time we were already feeling like we could've spent what was supposed to be a special night elsewhere.

On the occasion of the table handover of the "Golden Fish Table Society" I was able to enjoy an excellent fish menu in this restaurant. The individual courses were finely coordinated with one another. The staff (from bottom to top) was extremely friendly. The restaurant impresses with a nice ambience and complements the meal. La Soupière has confirmed its acceptance into the Tafelgesellschaft very well. My wife, who has a fish allergy, was served an excellent fish menu. We can highly recommend La Soupière.

For my main course, I indulged in the roasted black cod with braised fennel and saffron beurre blanc. The cod was cooked to perfection, with a delicate and flaky texture that yielded to the slightest pressure. The fennel was earthy and aromatic, providing a delightful counterpoint to the sweetness of the cod. The saffron beurre blanc was rich and creamy, adding a touch of luxury to the dish. As a fitting conclusion to my meal, I savored the chocolate lava cake with raspberry sorbet. The lava cake was warm and gooey, with a molten center that oozed out when I cut into it. The chocolate was rich and decadent, with a deep and complex flavor. The raspberry sorbet was light and refreshing, providing a perfect contrast to the richness of the chocolate. Overall, my dining experience at La Soupière was nothing short of exceptional. The food was exquisite, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was elegant and inviting. Decent place, but does not deserve 4.5 ⭐️ Delicious expensive food, bad service. Only the name is french. The food was good, the duck was perfectly cooked 👌🏼. Compliments to the Chef!! Too expensive for what it was, though. The service, however, is quite bad and unfortunately doesn't match the quality of the food. The staff doesn't speak english very well, we waited for so long after the meal and were never offered dessert, and eventually decided to leave frustrated. I think it's a good place to eat only if you actually stay in the hotel.

The main person waiting on me was rude. Made me feel like I didn't belong in restaurant. I was dressed appropriately but no date which I dine alone in past places and never had an issue. He mentioned a 2 bread per person policy which was really weird it wasn't like I wanted a bunch of bread just asked what kind of rolls he was showing me in the container. At the end they took even longer than normal for me to pay even after I asked for my bill. I wouldn't go back. Just not a very inviting environment and I enjoy eating out at fine dining establishments often. First time I've felt this way at one. Best wishes to them and hope they do better for future guests.

Beautiful restaurant with very tasty food! We really enjoyed our evening at La Soupière! The restaurant is located in the Hotel Schweizerhof, at the beginning of Bahnhofstrasse. The restaurant is very nice: nice dining room, elegant tables and pleasant music. The tables are spaced far apart, which offers a nice opportunity to enjoy the evening in peace. The food was just perfect! As a starter we had the asparagus soup, which was very tasty. For the main course we had the Wienerschnitzel - simply delicious! The dessert was also very tasty. We were served by a very professional, nice and friendly woman. Judging by her accent, she came from Austria. Unfortunately, the waiter who worked with her wasn't that professional. One of the worst dinner experiences in my life. The food tasted artificial. Most ingredients you could get more fresh from the local Migros supermarket. I had the smoked salmon, it was literally something that you find in every super market shelf. The meat was chewy and not tender. The side was frozen veggies warmed up and without taste. There was a piece of plastic foil in the food. The sauce was full of artificial flavor. The fruit salad desert was something you find next to every breakfast buffet. I still can’t believe all the positive reviews here. It reminded me of the Shed at Dulwich. This place is absolutely fake! Surprising to find something like that in a city such as Zurich.

Very good place with an awesome service, my girlfriend did plan my birthday there and it was awesome. I really liked the place, the service was on point, the food was good so actually I was about to give 4 stars but it’s actually deserving a 5 stars for the entire experience. I’m recommending that place and I would surely go back there one of those future days.

A Michelin star worthy experience, without the Michelin star price. Simply relaying my compliments to the chef does not even come close to the gratitude I have for the culinary experience I indulged in at La Soupière! An exquisitly decorated traditional dining room greets you with warm light and friendly and professional staff. I have never enjoyed any food which had invoked such strong emotions as the beef fillet. Perfection would strive to find a place alongside this dish. Enjoyed with the reccomended wine, allow the chef to guide your culinary experience. If ever you are in the market for fine dining in Switzerland, you must make the journey Zürich to find the true meaning of French cooking at La Soupière. Will be returning soon!

Nous avons séjourné deux nuits au Schweizerhof et nous avons donc pu - durant cette période particulière liée au Covid - manger les deux soirs au restaurant La Soupière. Il faut accepter que la période n'est pas propice à la gastronomie. Dans le cas présent, nous avions un forfait demi-pension qui nous permettait de déguster un menu trois plats (indiqué à un prix de CHF 79.--).Nous avons certes bien manger mais je ne qualifierais pas ce restaurant - en tout cas durant cette période - de gastronomique. La présentation était soignée, les plats bien servis en quantité et les cuissons maitrisées. Nous avons donc eu du plaisir durant ce repas même si nous n'aurions pas nécessairement payé un prix tel que celui là pour ce menu. La carte des vins est intéressante même s'ils sont un peu chers notamment pour les vins suisses. Je me suis donc dirigé vers des vins italiens. Le service fut excellent, le staff est souriant, à l'écoute et agréable.beau cadre.

J’ai alors pris deux verres (2dl) de PINOT NOIR DE SALQUENEN AOC de la cave Albert Mathieu, un vin très bon et léger . The white truffle pasta was delicious, same as fragrance presentation of it, however my scallops starter has much space for improvement. It’s an adorable plate, but not so significant in taste. It was quite fishy and boring, I did not like the sponge side.The wine was recommended very well.However, when I came, I had to wait quite a while for someone to greet me and take my coat. Seems like nobody was waiting for guests, not very nice. When we were leaving I as well helped myself to take the coat, but it’s strange that such a fine place doesn’t have anyone taking a position of a host on a Thursday dinner time.

We stumbled upon this hotel and restaurant just to get out of the rain. What a great dinner and experience we had. We felt welcome and appreciated. Food was world class and the setting was idyllic. Most importantly the manager was the most accommodating human being. He even gave us umbrellas so we could get back to our hotel comfortably. We will book on our next visit to Zurich.

The food while all good came with neither huge portions or was overally mind blowing. For the price we were paying, I expected that something extra.
