La Taverna in Zug

I come here almost every week and all I can say is bravo! Compliments to the chef for amazing food and staff for great service. Thank you and keep up the excellent work!

Very good pizza very good pasta. I always enjoy coming here to eat with my wife. Service is very friendly and quick. The restaurant is in a good location in the middle of Metalli and in summer there is enough space to eat outside.

I'm disappointed, the food was ok, but more was deducted than I said when I paid. I paid with a card and more was deducted than I said! Absolute cheekiness! I will never go there again. Pay attention and look closely at the display!

We were there with a larger group. All pizza dough was totally over salted. You almost couldn't eat it at all. When we told the waitress, she smiled at us, and we thought that she certainly didn't understand a single word. Apparently that's how it was, because nothing happened. When we ordered the invoice, we asked whether we could also get an invoice with a payment slip. Again we were just laughed at... When she said that she didn't understand us, we asked to speak to the boss. Unfortunately he didn't understand us either. Very unfriendly and annoyed. I definitely don't need to have this on my lunch break again. Luckily, there are plenty of other options for lunch in the nearby area.

The restaurant was pretty empty on Friday evening. The service wasn't attentive, the food, well - my gut today says it wasn't good (penne with beef)! Wouldn't go again.

The atmosphere is more like a canteen. The waiter didn't come to us for a long time, but he was still very friendly. Starters were very tasty. My “Pollo con Limone” was moderately good, in my opinion the chicken was turkey and tasted musty, like turkey tastes. Even the “nice lemony” request didn’t overpower the taste. But that's the only drawback. All in all it was good and we were all full. Thanks to the friendly waiter😊 Price-performance was fair.

Had pizza diavola and my mother in law penne al rabiata. Pizza dough was very bland... The dough tasted more floury than yeast. Al rabiata was very olive oily. So not really a taste explosion here.

Portion of penne was far too small for the price. The lasangna was one of the worst I've ever eaten. No taste - nothing. Overall we were disappointed and will not eat here again in the future.

The pizza wasn't even that bad. Waiters prefer to look at their cell phones and when they are eating themselves, you don't have to have any expectations.

The pizzas are always very tasty (e.g. proscuitto), service is quick and friendly. Ideal for a quick lunch or leisurely dinner with homemade tiramisu for dessert.

My last visit to Taverna was simply fantastic! I ordered the spaghetti, and it was deliciously cooked - al dente, perfectly seasoned and with a lovely sauce. The quality of the food exceeded my expectations. But the best thing about my visit was the extremely friendly service. The staff was attentive, courteous and always with a smile on their faces. They really cared about the guests' well-being, which made my evening even more enjoyable. I can highly recommend Taverna, not only for the first class food but also for the excellent service. I will definitely come back! Many thanks again to the entire team at Taverna for an unforgettable culinary experience

An incredibly delicious restaurant. Unfortunately, until the last time, the service was always... how should I put it. A mixture of stiff, short and mildly rude and impatient. Last time was the first time I had a woman as a waitress, who was really very nice and attentive. A pleasant surprise after years. But the food is so good that I like to go back again and again.

Atmosphere is very nice and there is a wide range of choice of foods to choose from on the menu. The vibe is simple and chic without being over the top. The tiramisu and beef tartare are very good. Service was friendly and quick.

Addendum to yesterday's visit: This time I was really a bit disappointed with the food. The vegetable sauce was not a sauce, not at all runny, and I had to add a lot of seasoning. Salt, pepper, parmesan. And yet the whistle was missing. I don't think the criticism was accepted either. Next time we'll go somewhere else... My previous review: You have to speak English, that's strange. The food was good again, but my pizza could have used more spice. Pizza dough super fresh and crispy on the edge. After the meal we were a little forgotten about drinks. But all in all it was nice again.

My favorite restaurant in zug. Not the greatest location, but always busy with good 'people watching'. Great pasta and pizza, zuger prices but lower end.

The service didn't speak German and as quickly as I had the food on the table, my sense of taste was also very moderately enthusiastic.

Very good restaurant at a fair price, I can only recommend it to anyone who wants something Italian. Ambience is not too special but nice, clean and modern.

Don't order a large salad plate. It costs over 20 francs but only has a little salad on it. The only big thing about it is the plate...However, on the last visit the risotto was delicious and the pizza tasted good too. That's why I'm happy to eat there again.

So, I went to this pizzeria and it was really terrible. First of all it took forever to even get served and when we finally got our pizza it was cold and tasteless. I think the chef just threw some random ingredients on the dough and then forgot to put it in the oven. The service was also terrible - the waitress was rude and uninterested in serving us. She seemed annoyed that we were even there. When I asked her for a recommendation, she simply suggested the most expensive pizza on the menu without giving any explanations or details. I think I wouldn't recommend this pizzeria to anyone. The food was bad, the service was bad and the atmosphere wasn't particularly inviting either. There are much better pizza places in the area that you should try.

The pizza used to be really, really good. But now the pizza was topped with far too much cheese and the cheese was rubbery :( . What a shame.

Food was very good. The service was a bit hectic but very friendly. A little short on staff at lunchtime when everyone gets together.

Nice atmosphere, not very polite service and rude staff. the food left a lot to be desired, lasagna bathed in pure sauce and the pasta looked like puree because it was so cooked and it was not tasty. We complained about the lasagna and we simply didn't get an apology...ultimately a place I don't recommend and wouldn't return to 😕

Food was bad, spaghetti sauce was watery. The waitress was visibly in a bad mood and couldn't work together as a team.

We recently had dinner at the La Taverna restaurant. We haven't been guests there for a while because we were poorly served back then. My wife and I thought we would give it another chance and go. We immediately noticed two waiters in a negative way, very unfriendly, no smile and no greeting. What was noticeable was that women were better served and received more attention than couples or families. We eat out very often and we have never been served so badly. The food is ok. We think it's a shame because we want to spend money on a culinary experience but it turns out that the staff doesn't have the space for that.

WOW! Truly the best Italian food I’ve had in a while! The quality and taste is off the charts. Many delicious options to choose from and the staff are very kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

Went out to eat with two colleagues, spaghetti pesto for CHF 23.50 was homemade, which is absolutely to be expected in a restaurant, a homemade pesto takes a maximum of 5 minutes to prepare. No more with me!

That was the last time! If I could give less than one star I would. I feel very sorry for the staff. All the good waiters have already left, which I can completely understand. The boss is arrogant, rude and 100% NOT customer oriented. The food has gotten worse year after year. When I complained that the food was not fresh and not as shown on the menu, I was insulted! We used to love coming here. Nowadays it is no longer recommended. Very unfortunate.

Service is questionable, waiters are not kind at all. We booked several days in advance for 7 people. They gave a table for six. We asked to.checked our booking. We were not even considered. Bad organization, bad service, unpolite.

2 times I had really bad experience :( From now I will avoid this restaurant 😅

After a long hike, we decided to come here. I ordered a tomato and mozzarella salad (half portion and a home-made lasagne. My friend a pizza. The salad was very sparse and a bit low for the price of 19.90Fr, but the bread was great! When the lasagna came, I almost fell off the chair. A huge (about 10cm) square block. It was still lukewarm inside and the sauce around it was the best. I couldn't even eat half of it and when the waiter asked if it was good and I said no, he just reacted with shock and nothing else. The lasagne cost 25.50 francs and any ready-made lasagne would have been better than this one. My friend's pizza was good. So my conclusion, only eat pizza there, but no lasagne;) !

The service is a complete disaster! We went for coffee in the afternoon. The waiter seemed very unmotivated and annoyed at having to serve guests. In addition to the unfriendliness, the coffee wasn't even good and was served very carelessly. There wasn't even a glass of water, which for me is part of a good restaurant/café. The service has really deteriorated and used to be a lot better!

We ordered 2 bottles of water without gas, they brought with gas. We ordered an ice tea with peach, they brought with lemon. They didnt have the pizza we ordered. We asked for a modification, after 5 min they said it is not possible. The waiter was also unpleased in general. We will never go again. You feel like they make you a favour to eat in their restaurant. Customer service is something unheard for this restaurant.
