Loxton in Lausanne

Great brunch place in the center of Lausanne. It has a pleasant terrace on its first floor. The place is well decorated and they serve good food. Average price of a drink and a dish 25CHF.

The place is nice but the service is unfortunately really terrible. It's even disrespectful.

unpleasant waiter 30 minute wait for 3 coffees and 1 syrup while the terrace was empty. Lack of hygiene, the bar was dirty and the waiter took the end of the glass with his fingers. In addition, it forces everyone to consume for a minimum of 5 francs and charges for still water. In short, highly recommended especially for the price and the waiter is a real pain in making unpleasant remarks towards Muslims and lack of politeness , hygiene and professionalism.

Great brunch! We were there at 10 a.m. on a Sunday, calm atmosphere before the 11 a.m./11:30 a.m. “rush”. Very pretty place and well located. Delicious and very hearty food! Lovely service! Enough to have a good time with your partner or friends, we validate and we will come back! Thank you Loxton!

Very good "simple" cuisine without fuss, only fresh and local products. The crème brûlée is a real delight, I haven't had one this good for a very long time. Very pleasant service.

We had a great time with a friend, we went for an aperitif. The bar is very beautiful and tastefully decorated The only downside is not enough servers.

Refined but cozy atmosphere, efficient and fast service and the French brasserie cuisine with a touch of originality is simply delicious! I highly recommend as a couple or with friends, we always have a great time there and we enjoy it!

The food is great, though quite pricey.

Very good meal presented with care, very small portion however. Service a little slow but we didn't insist either, with very friendly staff. On the other hand, the music is too loud and unpleasant for a midday meal.

The place is nice, but that’s it! One of the employees with long tied hair was quite haughty and arrogant, there was almost no one in the bar. I took the liberty of borrowing the chair next door because I had problems with my back and the bench was not suitable for it. not and barely arrived the first remark is "the chair is at the next table so if there is anyone you get up” I find it a very rude way to treat a customer. I remind him that I do not I'm not his "friend" but a customer. Not to mention other crazy things I've heard. In short, I'll never set foot there again!

Very nice place, friendly servers and we ate our brunch dish well. A brunch menu not very big but good. Maybe adding avocado is what was missing.

1h30 for brunch is short, especially since there is no time to clear out and clean. Strong feeling of having to act quickly. Impossible to take the time to have the time. Too bad given the quality of the meal. The bill arrives without even asking for it and you are asked to eat quickly. The next ones are already waiting.

The place is very nice, the decor is well chosen. Perhaps a bit of a victim of their success, the room was packed (Thursday evening) and therefore very noisy. The dishes were very good, although a little expensive.

I came to eat one evening in Lausanne with a lot of apprehension. After having an aperitif at Loxton and discovering the menu, I finally decided to stay and eat there and I mean it was a nice surprise. I had a tartare which was just delicious. If we add to this a very friendly service, I must admit that my preconceptions were unfounded and that I had a very nice evening. Thanks to Lexton, I'm already looking forward to coming back.

Very bad reception! We arrive after traveling from another city and discover our reservation was noted for the wrong time. No effort to make up for their mistake and almost no apology.

Ordered the fish and chips, which included deep fried prawns and cod. The prawns were still grey in colour... so they refried them. I'm a huge fan of this practice! This place is hit and miss anyway and today was definitely a "miss". This is a shame as it's a really nice restaurant with good staff.

We came to the Loxton for brunch. We were able to choose our table on the terrace but it was not set. We had to wait a good 15 minutes before receiving a menu for two even though we had announced ourselves to the waiter when we arrived. After another long wait before being able to place an order, an employee finally came to us to ask us if we were ready to order. The coffees and the carafe of water arrived at the same time as the dishes, as a result of the shopping we were thirsty. When our entire order arrived, the table was still not set and we had to wait another good 5 minutes to receive cutlery. The carafe of water arrived without the glasses which we therefore had to ask for as well as additional sugar. Neither the glasses nor the sugar were brought back to the table. When we asked for the bill, the waitress informed us that it was going to take time to arrive and that it was better to go directly to the counter - I should point out that the restaurant was far from full (2 tables at the 'interior and 3/4 of the tables on the terrace taken). We still find this very cheeky because the servers are not understaffed and printing the bill takes 5 seconds. When we go to the counter to pay, the bill is only printed upon request, not far from being the problem, but it is not shown to us. It was after paying that we realized that the carafe of water had been billed even though we had not received glasses DESPITE our request. The food is not bad but really doesn't break a duck's three legs, especially for the price and quantity. Very disappointing!

Place chosen to celebrate my birthday because I had very good memories of it…. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed; dishes that are too expensive, not very sophisticated and almost not cooked, example of a dish: a few pieces of tomatoes, 1/3 of sardines, overcooked egg, and half a bagnat, all tasteless and without sauce at CHF 29. -. ! Fortunately the tomatoes had flavor. My friends were mostly disappointed and will not return. Regarding the service, despite the few people that evening (almost only our table of 10) we had to insist that the waiters hear us and my friends who had expressed an opinion on the dishes were not heard. This place is magnificent and I sincerely hope that improvements will take place mainly in the quality of the food chosen and the cuisine.

The place is magnificent, I had heard a lot about it, the eggs Benedict with salmon and the passion fruit French toast were incredible 😍 small downside for the roast chicken which was a little dry despite the sauce but the rest was so good! I recommend !

Being a fan of this kind of place and after several stories on Instagram, I went there for lunch. I waited over an hour to be served what I had ordered. I figured it must be because of the lunch rush. I gave it a second chance during an aperitif with friends, and once again I had to wait 30 minutes to get a cocktail. The place is great, the food is good, but the service is really slow, it’s a shame!

Hey, Loxton, do better. While the food is good, I can safely say the staff ruined our Sunday lunch/brunch and they probably won't see us again. If the lunch reservation is at 1h30 pm (offered through online service) and the closing time is clearly written (also at the entrance) as 4pm, then why would staff passively aggressively (emphasis on aggressively) start to kick the customers out before 3pm? First staffer came to take the "last call" order before 3pm telling us they close at 3.30, then 10min later another staffer came to say they are already closed.. Then we ask him which is it, and he doesn't know. Then excessively loud music, so we have to yell to talk to each other. Then a bill arrives, not so subtly. It's not even 3h10. At 3.12, they bluntly ask us to leave while also turning away other customers (who also read the closing hour downstairs). Here's a tip - if you want to close earlier than your indicated business hours and while customers are still eating, then be decent, come over and 1) explain the situation, 2) apologize and 3) as a classy bonus, offer coffee on the house. We are not unreasonable people, we just don't like to be bullied into leaving by methods worthy of a high-schooler.

If you want to wait 1 hour 15 minutes after ordering a dish, poultry supreme with fresh morel sauce and creamy puree for 41CHF (and two small asparagus chasing each other), and you receive a block of indigestible and bland potatoes followed by a cream sauce without any morels and grilled asparagus on cold chicken... so don't hesitate and reserve a table! The positive point: the cocktails, the terrace, and the understanding of the service which granted a discount.

I had very good memories of this place but unfortunately my opinion has changed a lot today. The place is very friendly and well decorated, however the service was extremely slow, the food very greasy and the toilets broken... Be careful, few gluten-free, lactose-free or vegan options.

Discovery of this restaurant. The place is nice and the staff pleasant. On the other hand, for my part I was a little disappointed by the meal. The plate was not particularly appealing, even if the meat was of good quality, and a side salad straight out of the bag was a bit mediocre. I don't think I'll go back but the "trendy" side might please.

Gets quite busy for Saturday brunches. The menu is cute, quick and short and not too many options. The food is delicious but not too filling.

We came for brunch at 1:30 p.m. and we were served at 3 p.m.... When we arrived, despite a reservation, no table was prepared for us. Fortunately, the waiter offered us a coffee while we freed up a table. Then, we waited 1h30 before eating... The organization was catastrophic, some waiters/waitresses seemed lost and brought us dishes that we had not ordered... After 1h30 of waiting, our meal was arrived and it was really very good. At the end of the brunch, one of the nice waiters came to explain to us that a cook was missing that day, which explained all the complications and the endless wait. We probably had a bad day because the brunch was very good! (apart from the price which is relatively high). However, the service was not up to par this time, which is a shame.

This is one of the staple classy cafes / diner bars in central Lausanne. Perfect for an afternoon or evening meal / drink on the balcony in the summer (or even later, many of the tables outside are under marquées). Good (small) selection of beers, tasty cocktails. Recently went there for a lunch and it didn’t disappoint - green curry with prawns was done very well, with the perfect amount of heat. For dessert we had ‘an autre cappuccino’ - simply amazing crème brûlée with cream from chestnuts and and aniseed. Food is a little on the pricey side but, unlike some places in Lausanne, you know what you’re paying for. EDIT March 2023 - Having recently come back there, the food menu has gotten much simpler and basic, in a bad way. It’ll be a while before i come back for food. Drink wise, the waiter didn’t know what a negroni is.. a little underwhelming. The berry spritz tastes water down and is simply not good. Their basic gin cocktail with berries was good. The kitchen closes at 10 for a bar opened until late - it would be a good idea to have peanuts, olives or crisps to sell after the kitchen closes.. these are basics. If you’re charging 1 chf for a carafe of tap water (« for the climat » what nonsense..), have the waiters say that when the customers make the order, so we can make a conscious decision. And please remove « for climate »..

The ambiance and the drinks are nice but the dessert was awful and definitely not worth 12-14 chf. The cake and the crumbles were burnt and bitter and ice cream was just average as well.

Worst service ever. We had to wait 15 minutes to order and then 1 hour to get our food, while other people who arrived later than us were served before! When we complained to the waitress she rolled her eyes and argued that there were too many people. If you cannot attend the tables, either you hire more waiters or you remove tables. Food quality was just fair but prices are way too high for what you get. I do not recommend this place at all.

Damage!! A lion's tooth salad which is more of a lion's tooth spinach salad... are you saving money? Please indicate this in the map. It would also be nice to make cards that are reusable and not disposable... they are made of paper. Less waste and ultimately more economical for you, since you like savings. Otherwise always a beautiful decor and friendly waiter

I highly recommend trying Loxton. The atmosphere is nice and the dishes are plentiful. I have never seen so much bacon on a plate. For foodies and gourmands this is a perfect restaurant.
