The food tasted good and the service was friendly. Unfortunately the waitress was a bit confused and brought us the wrong menu at first. However, everything worked out after that. Minus point for the toilet, which should get a little more attention.

My favorite restaurant in Baar! I really like the lunch buffet where I can try a few different dishes in one trip. The staff is really friendly too.

Food portions are enormous! Nice little Indian restaurant in the quiet corner. Was easy to get to from the station. Great samosas with three types of chutneys to dip with. For the thali, two types of chicken, one potatoe, one dhall and one yoghurt dish. Tasty overall but as mentioned, huge portions. Friendly and attentive service. The only fault is that the papadom was burnt and too dry (not in picture) so that distracts the score on the food for me.

The lunch buffet is good, the presentation and atmosphere could be improved.

Order #9244 was a real disappointment for me. The delivery was quick and competent, but the food wasn't very convincing. The Lamb Korma and the Mango Cream were good. We didn't like the rest. The paneer pakora was not crispy and tasted more like chewing gum (far from fresh). The Paneer Makhani was disastrous: the same weak paneer and the sauce had zero flavor. Like eating mozzarella in a can of tomato sauce. Even the palak paneer in our last order was weak: tons of coarsely chopped onion pieces. Not what I'm used to. Since our first order here in 2022, the quality has decreased massively in my opinion. After yesterday's performance, I won't be ordering here anymore. Except Mahalaxmi India improves ;-).

Can't judge the authenticity, however the food was very good. The whole place is clean. The portions were enormous. One main course and one side dish is all you will need, otherwise the shirt buttons start popping. The staff was great. We had some special dietary requests, which they kindly took into consideration. The interior needs a complete overhaul.

By far the best Indian restaurant in the area. Very friendly staff. The boss is very open-hearted and always up for fun. We have lunch here every week 😍

More spice would be very nice in this unfortunately, disappointing evening out for what we hoped would be authentic Indian cuisine. However, we would learn later from the manager that you must specify if you want the cuisine to be authentic. “Swiss people don’t like spicy food”. When we arrived, we were already underwhelmed by the basic and shabby interior. It would be well advised to take out and not dine in. Anyone’s apartment has to be a step up from this dining room. The atmosphere was worsened by the fact that the manager was yelling the whole time on the phone at some customer who was not happy with their delivery. This made for a somewhat awkward and unpleasant dining experience. On the plus side, the food portions are generous, but the price reflects this. Flavors were muted and uninspiring. The Rogan josh was some of the most bland lamb I’ve ever had. Also CHF 9.50 for a bottle of water felt a bit steep, in light of the surroundings, we were drinking it in. Service is slow and even forgot one of the items we ordered. We were compensated by being offered a 10 minute lecture as to how we could’ve done better in ordering as well as a complementary Naan bread. The staff was so overwhelmed. We had to go seek out the manager to pay our bill. All in all - a disappointing first and last visit.

Our new favorite Indian and take out place in Baar. The staff is very friendly, the food is great and the portions very generous. We already tried quite a few dishes (biryani, thali...etc) and everything was delicious. Highly recommended.

Absolutely excellent service and really tasty food. I ordered the lamb curry which is similar to a Madras and my wife had the vegi options which were even nicer. Highly recommended! Updated after 2.5 years of going here now. The service is still excellent. I have found that the veggie dishes are even better than the meat dishes. The restaurant is always busy and that's because the food and service is amazing. 6 stars it I could. Updated after 3.5 years. Still the best Indian restaurant I know of in the Zug and Zurich area. Still amazing service.

Great food, great portions, great service. The only downside is the décor, it's an eye sore. A little interior design and this will be the food address in Baar. The Tali great value for money, the tandoori was very good.

Really very authentic Indian food. The portions are completely sufficient and are beautifully prepared. Every time we visit, we order a chai tea and a mango lassi for dessert ;-) I always enjoy coming here.

This is our favourite Indian in Switzerland. The food is amazing! We ate there often in January and the food was consistently delicious. We are so happy to have found it, even though it is not close to where we live, it is worth the journey there.

We've eaten there twice Everything was great the first time, because I have allergies I have to eat vegan, they prepared everything perfectly. The second time, unfortunately, it wasn't so great for me. I ordered vegan fried vegetables, which also came, but unfortunately they were fried in oil in which chicken had probably been fried beforehand. The food and service were averagely good. The furnishings seemed a bit makeshift. The dried tulips, the unsightly Christmas decorations on the tables, but above all the cobwebs on the candlesticks and ceiling, left the whole atmosphere in a shabby condition. A pity. The high rating can be attributed primarily to the take away.

Tasty & friendly! It was a little spicier than expected (there was nothing spicy on the menu 😅). BUT: unfortunately the toilets don't work at all. They are really dirty and need a thorough cleaning. In addition, the same frying oil is unfortunately used for vegetarian/vegan fried foods as for meat.

We traveled to Baar for lunch especially because of the high ratings (4.8). I absolutely cannot understand the high ratings. According to my Scala, the lunch buffet is somewhere around 3.5. Neither particularly well seasoned nor particularly tasty. I wouldn't treat myself like that again even at a cheaper price.

Nice place to eat. There's buffet during the weekdays during lunch for 20CHF. There are both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options in the buffet. Also one can order from the menu card as well.

Best Indian restaurant in the canton

My husband and I went there during our vacation and can only recommend this restaurant. We are really picky when it comes to Indian food and we pay a lot of attention to whether the food is freshly prepared. In many Indian restaurants that we have tried since then, we have often been disappointed because the dishes were usually neither spicy nor fresh. Interlaken in particular was never satisfactory and was also overpriced. Here, however, everything was freshly prepared and you could see that a lot of spices were used here, as is appropriate for Indian cuisine. Each dish had a pleasant spiciness and the chicken from the Chicken Tikka Masala was incredibly tender. Since then, the chicken has only been this tender at my favorite Indian restaurant in Germany. Therefore, this restaurant is now definitely in second place of all the Indian restaurants I have eaten in so far. We couldn't complain about the price at all, as the portions were always filling. If you really love good Indian cuisine, you should eat here!

It’s been just 4 months in Switzerland, we are still finding our way ; when my son and I bumped into #MahalaxmiIndiarestautant in #Baar today - and we found our little India here . The owner was the kindest, explaining us the portions , what to order. He offered me kingfisher and refused to accept a payment for it . He asked about my son’s spice tolerance and made the food accordingly. We got stuff packed and he was so worried how we will carry it and even offered help 🥰 life is not always about how much you get ; but how people treat you and make you feel ❤️ The food is delicious ; but I will go back more just for the way the place and the people made me feel !

We went to Mahalaxmi for the first time today. The food was fantastic! We had the butter chicken and the lamb tikka for the main course. The spices, the taste, the pleasantly warming spiciness. Simply round! The service was friendly and very personable, we felt very comfortable. We will definitely come back and have already clarified whether delivery will be delivered to us :-) Highly recommended!

The best Indian restaurant west of Bombay. Enjoy it and let yourself be pampered. Hospitality is very important here. That's why the restaurant is practically fully booked. It's worth reserving in advance. Goodness!

An understated eatery in Baar that offers fantastic North Indian food. Very friendly staff. Good prices. But limited seating, so make sure to book. Offers takeaways. Parking can be a challenge, so sometimes better to park across the main road and just walk 2min to the restaurant. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻
