Food and service was good. However too expensive

Yesterday we went to the Old Swiss House for the first time. The menu is small but fine. Our food was very good. Of course we decided on the schnitzel. It was a great experience that it was prepared in front of us. The prices are rather high, but it's worth having the experience. The Creme Catalana dessert was to die for. The service, especially Lukas our waiter, was great.

The schnitzel is and remains my favorite! Prepared at the table. Service super friendly. For me the best restaurant in Lucerne!

We were there for lunch today. The welcome was very warm, the restaurant was beautiful, cozy and even festive! The food (Wienerschnitzel) was sooooooooo good that you will never forget it. The schnitzel should better be called butter schnitzel, that's not Austrian cuisine, luckily we ordered with boiled potatoes without crumbs of butter. The 68 Stutz is an absolute disgrace. We are in Vienna every year, this Viennese in Lucerne is the worst we have ever eaten. Go to the white cross in Mellingen. Nice restaurant, a Viennese (veal approx. 300g), with potato salad (also original with vinegar and oil if ordered in advance) and cranberries for 36 francs, as pork 26 francs.

One-day trip to Lucerne, Switzerland. After visiting the Lion Statue during lunch time, I walked down to the square that is 2 minutes away. The low-key low house is the restaurant visited by many world celebrities. The environment and taste are still great since 1860. Even though I am a nobody, I ordered it today. It’s the same as Armstrong’s meal. Beef stew with mushrooms and shredded fried potatoes. You’ll know if it’s delicious when the plate is clean! The veal schnitzel that I ordered at the beginning is gone! Delicious authentic Swiss food worth trying was one of the delicious dishes during my stay in Switzerland

Food, ambience and service were perfect!

Our absolute favorite restaurant in Lucerne. Whenever there is something to celebrate, or just because, we are guests there. A very special restaurant, family-owned for three generations, where you immediately feel welcome. This time we were able to make a reservation very late and also forgot to mention that it was a small birthday party. After we noticed this briefly, the table was immediately decorated accordingly. We never need the menu because although we knew from previous visits that all the dishes were wonderful, you just have to try the Wiener Schnitzel prepared at the table and the mousse au chocolat for dessert. The service is family-friendly, attentive and unobtrusive. Of course, we didn't manage to do everything again, but we didn't even have to ask because everything was packed up to take with us. Although, as is almost always the case, be sure to reserve early, the restaurant was full, but there was no noticeable hustle and bustle. As always, we thank you for a wonderful evening and are already looking forward to our next visit. Almost forgotten - at the end there was a beautifully decorated Bundt cake for the 'birthday child' offered by the restaurant and served with vocal accompaniment. For me, having worked in the catering industry for years, it's always so nice to see that restaurants like this still exist and that they receive the appreciation they deserve from recurring guests.

Fabulous evening at the Old Swiss House in Luzern. Excellent food and wine, very friendly and attentive waitresses and a lovely ambience. The house speciality was cooked in front of me which was a very nice experience and was excellent. Altogether a wonderful evening.

A very nice, time-honored restaurant with great interior design and very nice tables. Extremely friendly and nice service that remains absolutely calm and calm even under stress. The Wiener Schnitzels prepared at the table are excellent and an experience. Almost a full pound of butter is used. Therefore the schnitzel is not dry either. Wine and schnapps selections are also of the highest standard. If you order the schnitzel and also want an appetizer, you should be very hungry. Absolute recommendation.

They claim to serve Wienerschnitzel but what they serve has nothing to do with a Wienerschnitzel. There are very specific rules to making a Wienerschnitzel and it is a protected term in Austria for a reason. They don’t use flour, don’t use the right cut of meat, press the breadcrumbs on the meat and fry it in butter…all those are things you don’t do! Also who serves noodles with a Wienerschnitzel?

Fantastic service and fun experience. Be sure to book a table ahead of time. If you go here you definitely should get the schnitzel that is prepared at the table. it's not only a great experience it is very tasty as well! The decor inside is beautiful. Well worth a visit

Ate at Old Swiss a few weeks ago. Poor service, our table was used as a side table for other customers, fish was NOT cooked through and the price hardly changed or at least an apology from the chef!!! Definitely don't recommend.

Last night was a disaster. We, 4 people including a 92 year old woman, waited 1.5 hours between starter and main course. In addition, the fourth person's dish was served 10 minutes after us. There was no apology and no gesture on the bill. However, the waitress was very pleasant and very professional. My fish was tasteless, we've already gotten to know the schnitzel better.

Now it is clear - after my years of intensive research in Switzerland and Vienna: the Old Swiss House serves the very best Wienerschnitzel far and wide! Everything else is great too - the other dishes, the wines, the always excellent service, the ambience...

Everything was more than perfect!! Especially our waitress Elena from Greece was just amazing!! She explained to us everything !! She made us the most perfect schnitzel we have ever tried!!

If you are in Lucerne, you have to check this place out. They do lunch and dinner, and have a menu that is completely unique to this region of Switzerland. The wienerschnitzel is amazing...still made tableside, the same way and at the same place after hundreds of years. Don't miss out!

Service was bad for a place like this with these prices because at our side table, i.e. directly 20cm from my plate, the entire food from the neighboring table (table of 4) including salad dressing was served... the noise and the constant unrest (man had the feeling of eating in the kitchen) took away the whole ambience... we didn't even want to talk. In addition, the fish was not cooked through.

The Wiener Schnitzel is certainly an experience. However, you should be very hungry. Service was friendly but nothing special. The ambience is very old-fashioned and pink/turquoise, and no one could explain this choice of color. Still happy to come back.

I went there because it was a Michelin-starred restaurant, but the food was so-so. The staff is friendly and the interior atmosphere is nice. It was amazing to see people wearing traditional clothes to work haha.

The table side schnitzel is the way to go if you've never been before. Reservations highly recommended. Close for lunch at 1:30p. A great experience. When you walk in it smells like strudel. Very good wine list as well Food, atmosphere and staff are all really excellent.

Lucerne’s local traditional Swiss cuisine is a long-established local restaurant that many people will recommend. To be honest, the food is not that amazing But the old Swiss house presents a historical atmosphere Which restaurant now has tableside service of fried traditional Wiener Steak? Slow-fried thin beef filled with bread crumbs in butter It must have been done a long time ago. Many modern fried steaks are much more delicious than this one. But think about what people did in the past. This is how fried steak used to look. After thinking about it, I realized that it doesn't matter if it doesn't taste that good. Lobster noodles are indeed better than fried steak But the uniqueness of fried steak cannot be replaced. As for pumpkin soup...it seems like you can skip it 😂

An old, venerable Gault Millau restaurant in Lucerne with a lot of ambience. Very nice, friendly, competent staff. Nevertheless, my opinion: the consumption prices for the food are above average. The famous veal Wienerschnitzel are prepared at the table. The plate doesn't look Gault Millau worthy after those lush breadcrumbs on the pasta. The beaten egg has parmesan in it. Is that original? It bothered me. Costs: 1 portion CHF 64.--. Venison slices with knöpfli without ingredients wasn't bad. Costs: CHF 54.--.

Great, old style with friendly and knowledgeable staff in service and kitchen. An enjoyable and interesting visit to originally furnished rooms with "old" items from the gastronomy of yesteryear. Breading and frying the Wienerschnitzel at the table is an experience that is no longer common practice today. A visit is highly recommended!!!

We were warmly welcomed and immediately felt in good hands and comfortable. Every course of our 3-course menu was very tasty, prepared from fresh, high-quality products. There are also a lot of interesting and historical things to discover in the restaurant... We really enjoyed the evening in the Old Swiss House and we were all completely satisfied.

At first, I wanted to skip visiting this restaurant because of the price. However, I met it after leaving the Dying Lion Statue. The beautiful and ancient building aroused my desire to visit at that time. The taste of the food is not as salty as the Swiss food that others have heard of from word of mouth (the Swiss food at Opice Restaurant on the River is very salty) We ordered Wienerschnitzel, and the waiter cooked it at the table (it is recommended to sit outside, otherwise you will inhale a lot of oil smoke). The pork chop skin was very crispy and tasted good. But we recommend the Veal with Mushroom Sauce (Geschnetzeltes Kalbfleisch). The meat is very juicy, the sauce is rich in flavor, and the accompanying rosti is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s almost CHF130 with drinks. It seems expensive, but it's worth it.

Talk about a true Swiss experience! The schnitzel is out of this world. This was definitely worth the cheat meal! Our waiter was fantastic. My wife got the brisket which was phenomenal as well. Highly recommend! Must go eat at restaurant! Dress appropriately, there is no AC so it gets hot.

The environment is very special, and the food quality is the best I have ever eaten in this 8-day trip to Switzerland. If you order traditional fried pork chop, the waiter will cook it at the table, ensuring that it is cooked immediately after you order it. The fried pork chop is very crispy. I also ordered steak and lamb steak, both of which were cooked just right. The meat is very soft and smooth, and can be eaten by the elderly. For dessert, there is crepes, which are cooked in front of you. They taste sour and sweet. I also ordered chocolate mousse , it can be said to be the most delicious thing I have ever eaten, with a strong chocolate flavor. There were 6 people, old and young, and everyone was very satisfied with the whole meal. At 400CHF, it is definitely worth the price.

I was there with my family today, we all had diffrent dishes and we were all pleased. Huge wine selection, food quality on point and our waitress was super kind and sweet.

I ordered the Aperol spritz as an aperitif, lobster soup, and the signature steak. The lobster soup is super thick. It feels like it was boiled with shrimp paste and fresh cream. The seasoning is a bit salty, but it goes well with bread. I heard that the steak was ordered from tableside service. The service was very good. The side dishes also came with English explanations. The meat was not thick but very large. It was coated with egg wash and bread flour. Well... it tasted a bit like Cordon Bleu without cheese. Pork chops, and then fried with some more bread crumbs as a sauce, but for fat people who are afraid of heat, a cassette stove is placed indoors at the table for half-frying... It's really hot~ah~ The most amazing thing is...the main course is served with flat white noodles that look like teppanyaki noodles, but the accompanying sauce is berry jam! That's right, it's a sweet dish... Sorry, I can't accept this. After tasting the sauce, I directly ate the fried bread flour noodles. If you are interested, you can try it~

The boss is a bit biased against backpackers and doesn’t really want us to go inside. I just arrived early and was told that I would have to wait for a long time before I could sit inside, but there were a lot of seats and no one had reserved them (I saw it was closed). Before Corona we liked going here. Admittedly it was always very expensive, but duck liver mousse on quince jelly cubes with brioche and the Chateau Briand were always delicious, as was the mousse au chocolat. Since Corona, unfortunately there have been fewer staff in the kitchen, so very simple dishes that I can quickly prepare at home. Only the high prices and the nice waiters remain. The owner is happy with it and never wants it any other way, he told us. The business is probably now even more profitable for him this way. The famous Wiener Schnitzel (for 69 CHF, how much does it currently cost?) weighing only 130 g and cooked spaghetti as a very strange side dish is unfortunately not recommended at all. It is fried in a lot of butter right at the table, which creates a terrible odor for everyone nearby. And our children would find vegetables or salad much more suitable as a side dish. We as guests stay away, we don't spend any more money on it.

My girlfriend & I visited the Old Swiss House on a Wednesday evening. It's certainly worth a visit. We both had the veal schnitzel, it was very large. We sat outside, the schnitzel was prepared outside in front of us with a lot of butter, which was also reflected in the taste (very tender meat). Add a good bottle of red wine and the evening was perfect. I can recommend the Old Swiss House to every schnitzel lover.

Loved the atmosphere and the fantastic service from the staff! However we weren’t really used to the amount of butter put into our Weiner Schnitzel, and didn’t really appreciate the taste. Maybe it’s just us. But we really loved the decor inside and added to a very positive atmosphere.

For those who would like to try delicious risotto, grill lamb, the cube beef with mustard sauce and the chocolate lava for dessert this restaurant highly recommended. The food cooked to perfection. You will truly able to experience a different taste food from our usual taste likes. We met such a friendly and humble person who assisted us with our food. Sadly I didn’t get her name She welcomes us with beautiful smile on her face. ❤️

Absolutely not suitable for me as a vegetarian. I came here for my husband, specifically checked to see if there was anything vegetarian and it had 1 menu. When we got there they had taken it off the menu and had nothing else on it. Suggestion from the kitchen saffron risotto or spaghetti with tomato sauce.Very imaginative. Price performance is not right for me at all. Risotto 32.- the restaurant smells so much of butter because these schnitzels are cooked at the table, it almost makes you sick. Traditional is all well and good but that's too much of everything. The only plus point was the friendly service.

Love Swiss traditional food here very much. Price is quite high compared to other good restaurants in attractive destinations but it is worth trying.

Just had the most amazing dinner at Old Swiss House. Pia was our waitress and she was incredible. She made our experience most enjoyable. Had the Veal Schnitzel and they prepare and fry right in front of you. Next time I am back to Lucerne will definitely be visiting this restaurant again. Just Fantastic!!!

2 parking garages in the immediate vicinity, pretty house, comfortably furnished and decorated, table reservation recommended, very nice and attentive staff, Wiener Schnitzel are breaded and fried at the table, very famous chocolate mousse. Definitely worth a trip. The only negative point: high noise level as the restaurant is often full.

Just wow! From the welcome to the end. Everyone was super friendly and top notch service! The food, OMG! The Wiener Schnitzel is prepared at the table and you can immediately see that the employees have already prepared more than one :) Over 1000 are prepared for customers every month and it is totally worth it 😍 The veal schnitzel is also more than just worth it. The hash browns are just a dream. The desserts are also super tasty and worth it despite a full stomach :) The Kronehalle can take it ;)
