My opinion! Three stars isn't bad. The service is quick. The restaurant is very clean and well equipped. I didn't see the room. But I was disappointed with the roast beef menu because the mustard, which in my opinion had no place on the meat, broke the very good quality. The mayo on the potatoes {which were cut way too big} wasn't right either! Unfortunately I didn't order another menu item. But as I said, 3 stars is not bad advertising for me! Thank you, see you next time.

The Osteria Manciana provides food for the soul. Perched in the hamlet of Scudellate, in Ticino, at 904 metres elevation, this Osteria is a gem. The Osteria is a family run agriturismo venture - with Oscar and Simona leading a 5* team - and three generations that have invested soul and energy that welcomes guests like they are coming home. It is buzzing with good vibes, local dialect and the most magnificent views of the Valle di Muggio. The team takes such care in the ambiance - you will likely hear Easy Jazz playing in the background of the Osteria - and the presentation and cleanliness is impeccable. The Osteria borders Italy, where you can hike to in 20-30 minutes, closest town is Erbonne, and many other wonderful hikes such as to Muggio, Muggiasca, Roncapiano, Nadigh and Monte Generoso. Whether you stay just for a meal, the talented Chef curates local homemade delicacies, or experience the bliss of the accommodation, this is an incredible experience. The traditional Osso Bucco and Polenta - a recipe from la Piera (Oscar's mother) is an experience in itself. It's a regional delicacy and made with traditional flavours. The homemade pasta and gnocchi are sinfully delicious. I stayed in the Suite Panorama 'La Dépendance' which is opposite the Osteria. A fabulous apartment with the most stunning views from every single room! Last year I stayed in the Suite 'Nonna Agnese' in the Osteria - yes, it's my second year in a row there :) This was also a wonderful newly refurbished room. And there is the Ostello and the newly unveiled Panorama Lodge ' La Casa dei Gelsi' which is an oasis of calm with a private terrace, delicately designed interior and a hot tub a stones throw away. The 'Casa dei Gelsi' is run by Claudio, and it's a tag team collaboration among friends with Oscar and Simona. The recently refurbished Ostello welcomes school groups and groups of friends wishing to discover the Valle di Muggio. There is something for all budgets. The owners have invested in bringing new generations to this hamlet. The origins of this quaint hamlet remain with the quality of a top hotel. You won't find a TV in proximity, but WiFi is available. This is a moment to disconnect from daily life, reconnect with nature and meet new people. It's buzzing with good vibes. Tips: 1. Transport: Head up using the Swiss public transport as it's punctual and a great way to invest locally, whilst starting to kick back. If you are considering taking your car, check first with the owners that there is space - it's not a big town, and narrow winding roads, therefore there is limited parking. 2. Family: This location provides great respite for families with children 10+ years, couples, groups of friends and the solo traveller. 3. Languages: the owners are multilingual - speaking fluent Italian, English, German and French. And they all make such an effort to share information about the region, history, walks etc. 4. History: The town of Scudellate hosts 10+ locals who have spent their lives there. If you get a chance, do try and connect with them to learn about the Valley. You will find many of the locals watching the world go by on the terrace of the Osteria or in proximity of the Church. 5. Activities: there are a number of hikes, you can bike to towns in proximity ( best to take a mountain bike or e-bike), whilst the avid professional bikers will take to the road and cycle from Morbio Superiore to Roncapiano. It's a steep journey in winding roads. On Tuesday and Saturday there is a church service that the locals attend: this is an opportunity to steep yourself into a local life activity. Visite the Mulino di Bruzella, the ancient milestone restored and working, producing the Polenta di Bruzzela. 6. Equipment: make sure to bring proper mountain equipment if you plan to hike. Ankle-high mountain boots are highly recommended. Wishing you an enjoyable stay in this bucolic Swiss destination.

Wonderful accommodation with a very good restaurant at the end of a beautiful valley. The staff is extremely friendly, personable and attentive. The food is fantastic and made with lots of local products. Very nice area for hiking 🌞.

We ate a delicious snack and had a wonderful place on the balcony with a view of the Muggia Valley.

This hostel is perfect to relax. Located high up in the valley one has a scenic view and can sleep like a baby because there are no noisiness around. The staff treated us like family which made us feel just like at home. The sleeping rooms and bathrooms are very clean. Breakfast and dinner are unlike any other Youth Hostel, there is no buffet, the food is ordered and brought to a table like in a restaurant. It also tastes like in a restaurant. And most importantly the prices are similar to the ones a of youth hostel!

The journey from Muggio to Scudellate was already a special experience, the narrow road winds steeply up and offers a breathtaking view of the Muggio valley. We were greeted warmly and courteously and were served attentively throughout the evening.

Wonderful Osteria in Val di Muggio

I only had a coffee, but I looked at the menu and it seemed very interesting, all with local products interpreted in a particular way. The room was very welcoming and a good choice of wines. Prices were normal.

Unfortunately I can't give less than one star. Simple place, rude people, negative towards Italians (they tell us to go back to our country so as not to bring the virus!). Let's talk about the food: we took a small plate of cured meats (salami and bacon just enough for one person) and four pieces of cheese, three bottled beers and a tonic, spent €66!!! In disbelief we asked for the receipt....no receipt even asking for it!!! I'm sorry, I don't understand the other reviews but based on our knowledge I can only advise against it in every way.

It is always a pleasure to stop for a post-trekking snack at the tavern in Scudellate: courtesy, genuine products and a beautiful view of the valley will welcome you here!

I came to ask about via ferrata (1.5 km away) I got the answer that the first one hears is not a tourist office and a quick "ciao / goodbye". in the morning 10.30 am I would like to eat breakfast, drink Espresso, etc. unfortunately after this short visit I lost my appetite for everything, which is a pity because it is a beautiful place! Super maximum top class Here the guest is still king and belongs to the family, is warmly welcomed personally and introduced to the team. We were able to be pampered for a week and enjoy the apartment with all its furnishings, Prosecco, snacks and fresh fruit. Great value is placed on the freshness and quality of regional products. The location, the nature, the residents will remain in our memories forever, as will the regional products from various producers. We'll definitely be back.

Very friendly service. Very nice rooms! Excellent quality all around. Portions when eating are rather small. For example, at the aperitif for 4 people there were only 3 pieces of everything. Generosity would be more likely to motivate generous recommendations/advertising.

La qualità è stata ottima e abbondante costo CHF 50.- a persona! Consiglio a tutti!!!

Tra i bikers Ticinesi e Lombardi alzi la mano chi non conosce la Manciana di Scudellatte, arroccata lassù all'ultimo tornante della mitica salita! Qui sembra che il tempo si sia fermato, tutto è come un tempo, quando entri sulla destra rimani abbagliato dalla "bottega di paese" con una splendida "Berkel" pronta a farcire i mitici panini. Sulla sinistra ed in fondo la vera osteria con vista sulla valle di Muggio. Prodotti tipici introvabili come i famosi formaggini Zincarlin e Büsciun, salmì di cinghiale, polenta con la farina del mulino di BRUZELLA, tutto in porzioni abbondanti. Dopo una passeggiata al monte Generoso, Erbonne o il solito giro in bici, questo è il giusto premio.

Buonissimi gli affettati, ossobuco molto tenero e che si scioglieva in bocca accompagnato da polenta, formaggini "büscion" freschissimi e ottimi (mai mangiati di così buoni in nessun grotto) e le immancabili torte della casa!Se avete l'occasione di passare su in Valle di Muggio, la tappa è d'obbligo, come anche la gazzosa. In bici, sono arrivato sei volte alla Manciana e ciascuna volta ho mangiato polenta e formaggini della valle, accompagnati con della gazzosa al mandarino. Questa osteria é attorniata dal verde della Valle di Muggio in un piccolo paesino di nome Scudellate. Ci vuole un pò ad arrivare su, ma vi assicuro che ne vale la pena.L'osteria non dispone di molti coperti, 25 circa, motivo per il quale vi consiglio di prenotare in anticipo, ma l'ambiente all'interno é bellissimo. Si respira l'aria di tempi passati.La Sciüra Piera ci ha deliziato con un ottimo aperitivo con del vino bianco, per poi prenderci per la gola con un antipasto di affettati misti di produzione nostrana di una macelleria nei paraggi che erano veramente buoni.Il piatto forte era la polenta nostrana con ossibuchi di maiale che si scioglievano in bocca e un brasato di manzo al merlot che nemmeno nei miei sogni più deliziosi lo avevo mai visto, accompagnato da dell'ottimo vino rosso.Poi ci ha portato un bel tagliere con dei formaggini freschi e maturi sempre della zona. Ottimi anche quelli.Per finire in bellezza una bella crostata fatta in casa, una delizia, accompagnata con caffè e limoncino fatto in casa.La gentilezza che ho potuto riscontrare non ha eguali. Ho scoperto la Valle di Muggio qualche anno fa dopo una passeggiata a Erbonne. Arrivato a Scudellate, paesino carinissimo, sono entrato all' Osteria Manciana per un panino. Accoglienza strepitosa, Piera si è rivelata subito per quello che è, una donna fantastica oltre che una cuoca eccellente. Da allora è diventata la meta finale delle mie escursioni. Inutile descrivere i piatti, tutti a Km. 0 e genuini, perché i cibi vanno assolutamente assaggiati. Il zincarlin con il miele della valle è una rarità e la gazzosa Noè è come quella di una volta. Sembra di essere tornati agli anni 60 quando ero un bambino e la gente era più simpatica.Spero che un locale così resista ancora per molti anni...

Ambiente familiare ed accogliente. Le specialità' che non hanno rivali sono la luganighetta alle cipolle, mortadella e fagioli, brasato, ossibuchi e selvaggina con polenta nostrana. Una cucina genuina, sana ed in particolare sapientemente preparata con passione dalla Piera. Oltre agli ottimi formaggini e zincarlin della valle e' da gustare la crostata all'albicocca preparata dalla Carmen. Bravi, complimenti.
