The best oriental restaurant I have visited so far. More in the nobler range. So also highly recommended for a nice meal. Everything was great from the reception to the farewell. We were there spontaneously for lunch on a Saturday. We also received very friendly service with our small, lively daughter (unfortunately this is not the case everywhere in Switzerland). The food is excellent. And everything. I ate probably the best hummus. Be sure to try the coffee with cardamom. The location is, as you can see in the pictures, beautiful. It has a banquet hall on the first floor which would be ideal for a wedding, for example. You feel like a queen/king. We'd love to come back.

In my opinion, this is an ordinary restaurant of “Mediterranean Arabic” cuisine, although they are positioned as Iranian. The design is appropriate. This is what they have in Belgium or France, a carriage and a small cart. Delicious simple cuisine, a lot of people, inadequate price tag. Service is ok. There are Lebanese and Swiss wines.

Good place for middle eastern & Arabic food. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place is nice and clean. We tried mainly Persian cuisine and was very good. The fattoush salad was good too

Nice place to drink coffee in Montreux☕

I made a reservation online, but the reservation could not be found. We were then given a place next to the entrance to the kitchen, where we sat in the airstream of the waiters. A pity. The service was reasonably friendly, but no one ever asked if you wanted to wait between courses and so the food always came very quickly. I had the impression that there was mass processing and that they wanted to get the guests out quickly. The food was plentiful and solid home cooking, but nothing more. The simple menu we had consists of a soup, a couscous and a dessert and costs 75 Fr. Clearly too expensive, it is not gourmet cuisine. But the ambience is really great. And the peppermint tea is also highly recommended.

Amazing find on our visit to Montreux. Best Persian food I’ve ever had! West LA Persian doesn’t compare at all. I had the lamb koobideh with mast Khair… so well seasoned. Next time we come for the Montreax Jazz Festival we will be back to eat here.

Delicious food and very friendly stuff. The architecture ist amazing, if you want to sit outside you can enjoy the beautiful lake view. I got an extra desert for free. The price is a bit higher but in my opinion fully worth it

We called to make a reservation as we were a party of 10 but we were told that there is no need for reservations. When we arrived they refused to give us a table outside despite that there were empty tables as they said they were reserved! They gave us a table inside and said that if you don’t want it there are other people waiting and will take it. Waiters were rude and inpatient. The food was good but highly overpriced. Overall not a very pleasant experience.

In a world where businesses thrive on exceptional customer service, our recent experience at this particular restaurant perpetuated a stark contradiction. Unfortunately, our interaction with the staff reminded us of a grating reality-wrap where the romantic ideas of kind and accommodating restaurant staff were rudely shattered. Despite a welcome environment proffered by the elegant ambiance and heavenly aroma of the cuisine emanating throughout the restaurant, the attitude of the staff sadly failed to emulate the same warmth. We were notably met with an air of condescension — a behavior that left a bitter taste, tainting our dining experience entirely. Far from the expected courteous interactions, the staff, particularly one, seemed to revel in acting with an elitist air that left us feeling undervalued and disrespected. They spoke to us in a way that was demeaning, as if bestowing upon us a grand favor, an entitlement of enjoying a meal at their establishment equivalent to being seated in paradise. This behavior was wholly unprofessional and truly uncalled for. Patrons visit dining establishments for an enjoyable and relaxing experience, and they certainly do not deserve to be talked down to. It was disappointing to witness a blatant lack of respect for the clientele this establishment seemed to cultivate. A word of advice to the management - it’s worthwhile to invest as much energy into training your staff, as you do in crafting your menu. After all, it’s not just the food, but the whole dining experience that leaves a lasting impression on customers. In conclusion, the flavor of a restaurant is not defined by its decor or cuisine alone, but the attitude of its staff plays a pivotal role. Until significant improvements are made in the area of customer service, we won't be recommending this place, nor revisiting in the near future.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and you immediately feel like you are at a thousand and one nights 👍 The lake view is the best! Please make sure to reserve in advance!! And say that you want to sit outside. The food was good, but generally standard and we weren't very impressed. It's edible and fills you up 🙃 Or maybe we ordered the wrong thing The service was rather clumsy... didn't even tell us what was on the mezze... but she obviously didn't know her way around (you could tell it was new) - so others at the next table had better luck with an experienced waitress who explained everything. Overall, it's a nice restaurant with cuisine that you don't get on the table every day.

To be honest, my review of the restaurant is very ordinary, its price is exaggerated, their service is very tiring, and their service is slow. I ordered a Harira, I ordered a Sultani kebab, and I asked for a mezze, and when the food arrived, they increased the order, “I didn’t order,” and they said, “You ordered,” and when I insisted, they said, “You are 4 people, and you must order at least 3 main dishes.” To be honest, their treatment is zero... .

My family & I enjoyed our lunch at this place. The restaurant itself is beautiful & the view is even more beautiful, which really made our experience enjoyable. However, the service was slow and some of the waiters were not as welcoming and polite. I really recommend the bastani & the black tea to finish off your meal!

Dining at Palais Oriental offered a mixed experience that left me both satisfied and wanting more. The food, while good, failed to truly dazzle. The flavors were there, but nothing on the menu made me exclaim, "Wow!" The interior of the restaurant had a nice ambiance, but it was dark. While it certainly set a mood, I found myself straining my eyes at times. The dim lighting might be a part of the design, but I feel it went a tad too far. On the plus side, the staff were incredibly friendly. Their welcoming smiles and attentiveness contributed to a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, this positive aspect was overshadowed by the overall pricing of the food. Compared to what was served, I found the meals to be overpriced. In conclusion, while my experience at [Restaurant Name] was good, it didn't quite hit all the right notes for me. The warm staff and nice interior were commendable, but the lack of a "wow" factor in the food and the overpriced menu left me feeling that there are better options out there.

nowhere in their menu says each person has to order at least one dish so when my fiancé & i went in half full from an appetizer we had somewhere else and we asked to share a 44 franc filet kebab (we wanted more than another appetizer), the waitress and the manager rudely said “no you have to order 1 dish per person.” i guess this place might only be good if you’re starving and want your own dish

As some of the other commentators have observed, the service is rude and deceitful. We sat down for lunch service, as my fiancée and I were not so hungry, but wanted to try the food. When we ordered, they demanded that we place a separate order for each person. Sorry to say, we left, as we will not be bullied into spending more money than we have to, and consequentially wasting food. Restaurants that adhere to these manipulative tactics should not be open.

The restaurant is very beautiful. It has two main drawbacks: Firstly, the high prices. The second thing is the meat kebab at all. It does not resemble the kebab except in its appearance. It tastes like a burger. Stay away from the chicken. The restaurant is clean and beautiful. The food is fresh, but the problem I mentioned was with the kebab and the high prices. We ordered mixed appetizers, chicken biryani and a meat kebab, which is a kofta for two people. The quantity is sufficient and the price exceeds. 500 Saudi riyals

When food enchants you. Extraordinary smells, tastes, sensations that I could taste in my mouth for several days afterwards. It's amazing how the chef managed to use spices and create and connect all those rich flavors. It started with the salad that was served as an appetizer. Every now and then something completely surprises you. I often go to Indian or Persian restaurants, but here the flavors were on another level. The experience at this restaurant was truly a big, big positive culinary surprise.

I loved the handcrafted art on walls and ceiling. The cosy atmosphere, the friendly service, and the quality of the food are much appreciated. But the prices are VERY high.

Price-performance ratio is not right. 30 CHF for a mezze (starter size) well... It tasted good but the quantity - that's up for debate. When we reserved the table at 6 p.m. (for 8 p.m.), the waiter kept running after another waiter (probably his manager) before he even got an answer. (bad mood in the team) When we arrive at 8 p.m. we are crammed into the back of a table in a corner where there is hardly any room for our legs. The waitress brings my husband's starter together with the main course - that doesn't work at all. The food comes much too quickly. When she picks up the plates she doesn't even ask if we liked it. All in all a bad experience and we wouldn't come back.

Indoors with fans is pleasant even when the outside temperature is warm. Friendly, courteous service team. The food is very good. Personally, I was a bit missing the oriental spice.

The location of the restaurant is very nice. The ambience is also right. Unfortunately, the service can be classified as indifferent or unfriendly at best. The waitress obviously doesn't understand her job as a host and limits herself to bringing food and issuing the bill. At least the lady who was responsible for us. You don't feel welcome and you just want to finish eating and leave... maybe the owner wants it that way too, since walk-in customers predominate and you don't necessarily rely on regular customers. A good oriental restaurant is characterized by the hospitality of the rich culture. The food is more bad than good. Rice portions are very small for a Persian meal that is primarily rice based. Anyone who has ever experienced a real Persian or Arabic restaurant will be very disappointed by the taste and service. It's a shame, the restaurant has a lot of potential to develop given its location on the lake.

Very good Iranian food You need booking

The worst meal we have ever had and for such a high price. It did not taste good at all. We have sit there due to its location and probable good taste but it was a regret, we could not finish any of the plates.

We had visitors from Dubai and we wanted to have an oriental meal with them. After we had to wait a long time for our table and didn't really have room to wait anywhere (we had to keep moving to the side) we got a table. There were five of us and two of us didn't want to eat, just something to drink. The three of us who were hungry were not allowed to order our food as everyone at the table had to order separate food. We explained that two of them weren't hungry and just wanted something to drink and the answer was that the kitchen didn't accept the order. Then we said OK, then we'll all just drink the drink that was already brought and leave. At that moment they took away the bread that they had brought us before. We told them they could leave the bread, we would pay for it, but they wanted to take it away from us. The experience in the restaurant was nothing but embarrassing. I wanted to sink into the ground because I wanted to please my guests and eat their house specialties with them. NEVER AGAIN!

One of my favorite Iranian restaurant if not my favorite in the world. They have an amazing service in a beautiful atmosphere and most delicious food, on top of that, it has the best view ever. I’ve been visiting them for more than 25 years, and they only get better with time. You must travel to Montreux to eat here.

The food was not good at all, very ordinary. The service was very nice and the atmosphere in general was nice, but hot, even though there was air conditioning, but it was hot that day.

The food was fantastic and delicious, the service is professional. Everything was clean, And the view was exquisite. You have to try the pastal dessert it’s amazing.

I feel ripped off! The most over inflated prices I’ve ever seen. We had vege curry and couscous and the dishes were not good at all. I felt like they’d used the cheapest frozen veggies from super market and watered down sauce. We complained about the poor quality but were not offered any discount. The manager wouldn’t come to take care of the situation - he/she was eating…. I guess the customers are not of any interest to them. The staff was otherwise nice but the manager is clearly lacking. So we paid 82chf for the two poor dishes and a small bottle of water. Fair price would have been no more than 40. We’re never going back.

Nice waiters and great food, first time I came here I was blown away by how juicy you can make lamb something that I have never had in Europe! I always have a great time here and I love the decor.

Didnt like the owners attitude when asking for a certain area one of the staff to sit he replied rudley and refused by saying take it or leave it.
