Pirojki Café-Boulangerie in Carouge (GE)

Certainly, I wish nothing but success for the proprietor of this establishment; however, my recent patronage at this cafe fell short of expectations.There were 20-25 people in the cafe on a Sunday with only three staff members working. Unfortunately, the waiter was absolutely not coping with her work.Regrettably, the staff seemed overwhelmed by their duties, struggling to maintain the expected standard of service. However, the food was tasty; the pies were good. We didn't try anything else because it was impossible to order due to the very long waiting time.

Everything is excellent... when there is a real desire to provide culinary pleasure, it shows. A real success, this concept, a great discovery.

Too expensive for minuscule portions. We all know our russian loved dishes are not “raffiné” cuisine. Understand it’s Swiss but still ridiculous to pay 17chf for minor borsh plate or 14.50 for Olivier without “kolbasa” or other dishes based on betterave or potatos 😞. Understand we have Swiss prices here to be able to run the business, but personally not ready to spend this for basic food.

Food is good but the quantity is wayyy too small especially for the price. 34chf for a few piece of potato ( not even a full small potato!) and 3 little piece of meat (maybe 1cm each 😂😂) is scandalous. Honestly at this point it’s a joke. Couldn’t believe the amount of food in there for 34chf. This is straight up scam. Will not go again.

Had a dinner night with my friends. We had a russian salad, soups and ragout which was 27chf. The taste of the meal is alright. But really the portion of the meals are hilarious 😆 and with the soup and ragout they don’t give us bread . And we bought separately 2 slim slices of the bread for 2frs. I think for me this restaurant is overpriced and should increase the portion of food ;)

We made a delivery to Neuchâtel and everything was perfect! The package was shipped the same morning and arrived early in the afternoon by post perfectly packaged (pirojki, soups etc...). And what about the food which was delicious. The pirojkis, both with meat and cabbage, were very good, the stuffed peppers were to die for, and the desserts were exquisite, which is not always the case for Russian desserts! A big thank you for these dishes which reminded me of my mother's and surely see you soon.

Russian breakfast! Excellent dessert with apple and cinnamon in a nice modern place. High prices, as in the rest of the country. Friendly staff albeit with the usual difficulties encountered in this area of ​​Switzerland in speaking English.

Nice discovery with Russian specialties

Nice place with nice staff and tasty food. However prices for MAIN courses are exorbitant! For example 27 francs for 3 khinkalis is too much.

What a magnificent Russian café in the heart of Carouge! We were wonderfully welcomed by the staff who were Russian-speaking. The dishes were delicious (especially the syrok). The prices remain reasonable when you know that everything is homemade. The atmosphere of the place is warm as well as the decoration which is very tasteful.

The food is just amazing: homemade and delicious. I order through Uber Eats and now am a regular visitor of their restaurant in Carouge. Due to their success they are overbooked. This is the only downside. They need to bring in additional staff. Otherwise, the food is delicious, the restaurant is spotless, the ladies working in the open kitchen busy and friendly and last but not least the head lady taking all the orders, doing the cashier and serving very friendly, kind and efficient. Absolute must if you love homemade food.

The best kvass I've ever tasted!

The pies are great. Kvass is amazing. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is lively and cozy. The food is simply amazing. If I had a richer vocabulary, I would continue, but you probably understood everything without that. In short, I highly recommend the place.

Very disappointed this Friday 09/22 slow and dismal service

We came to discover the place because we like Russian food, we were extremely poorly received then we stood for a very long time waiting to order, the girl at the counter didn't even know what she was selling🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤦🏻‍♂️. there are no prices or names on the products, they were looking for the labels in her pocket. Once finally ordered, we waited 20 minutes without being served. I don't understand the organization. Our pastry was heated then left abandoned while waiting for I don't know what, the coffees not prepared. We left because we had other things to do, we can't reserve a 1/2 day to have 2 coffees and a pastry!! There is certainly a choice, but there is a lack of organization, consideration and standards, especially at the prices charged. We also did not appreciate that certain customers from the same region were served before. The Uber deliveries which sounded good after our order, were prepared directly like a Dark kitchen and it took a long time, then give to the delivery men who smoked outside, while we waited... there is no logic.

The Pirojki coffeeshop in Carouge is a real treasure. The warm and friendly atmosphere, combined with a huge selection of high-quality coffees, makes it a must-visit place for coffee lovers. The very attentive and smiling staff add an extra touch to this pleasant experience. Jazz and atmosphere at the top.

Best place to have lunch in Geneva.

As a Russian, I can say that the cafe offers very authentic and delicious meals. I would like to show my friends Russian cuisine and I am glad that I managed to find authentic dishes. The borsch was very good, it was given to us with crème fraîche, as required. The pirojki were of a different shape (triangular instead of the regular shape of Russian savory cakes), but their taste was the same, I especially appreciated the ones with cabbage and carrots. The Napoleon and Prague cakes were very well made, I haven't eaten such a delicious Prague even in Russia. It was a bit of an inconvenience that the cafe only worked until 6.30 p.m. (we finished work around that time), but you could arrange delivery or take-out which I liked as an alternative. In short, if you want to try Russian cuisine, this place is a good place!

The pies are very tasty! The dough is thin, there is a lot of filling! Unfortunately, I didn’t have time before the kitchen closed (from 15.00), otherwise I wouldn’t have refused the dumplings. I recommend the pie with egg and onion, with cabbage - absolutely royal!) I also tried the honey cake - it is luxurious! Reasonable prices, nice interior

A nice place to enjoy Russian specialties without fuss. Borsch but also cold Kefhir soup make good starters. Don't hesitate to also try the Olivier salad (known to us as Russian salad. And of course, rush for the pirojki. Take 2 as a main course, that's what you need. Finish with a choice of desserts to visit the window. A great experience.

Drinking a coffee on this terrace is pleasant, fortunately there is a nice waitress to save the place because the owner is unfriendly, I don't know if it's the smile and the politeness....

A very pleasant place to have breakfast in a calm and cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly and gives good advice. The pastries, like the famous Pirojki which give their name to the establishment, are delicious. We will come back to it for the Pelminis.

Very beautiful, and most importantly, incredibly tasty products, real works of culinary art. Everything looked very appetizing and I wanted to try everything at once (and the assortment is very wide!), but in one visit I was able to taste only cheesecakes, honey cake and Napoleon cake, cheesecake, bun with poppy seeds, pie with egg and onion and pie with meat. The pastries are magical, the dough is fluffy, there is a lot of filling, cakes are “like in childhood”, but a special delight are the cheesecakes! The most delicious cheesecakes I've ever tasted! Special thanks for the delicious coffee and tea drinks, cozy and modern interior, convenient opening hours and a very warm welcome.

This establishment serves excellent pastries and delicious cakes. For savory dishes, stuffed with chicken or meat, a real treat. A word to the wise.

Excellent cafe with Russian cuisine! I ordered 15 Pelmieni (Russian dumplings) which were delicious. Having tasted this dish in Russia, I can tell you that the taste is authentic and that I had the same flashback as the chef in Ratatouille :) The prices are therefore very reasonable, the establishment is quite large and the staff is very cheerful and pleasant. I recommend this establishment if you want to taste typical Russian dishes with an authentic taste. For my part, I will come back soon to taste other specialties!

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at this cafe. So glad we went. Very much worth walking a couple extra blocks for delicious food and excellent service. The “Olivier” salad was fantastic as was the borscht. The pastries were also top notch. Service was prompt, kind and helpful.
