Pizzeria Roma in Zermatt

This is one of the best restaurants in Zermatt! The prices were appropriate, the staff were lovely and the food was delicious (got the carbonara and the bolognese 🫶🏼). The owner is such a great guy and you can tell how much he cares about the quality of his restaurant!

Pizza just ok and very expensive. Remember to book anyway.

We are in Zermatt 50 days a year and live 100m from the restaurant. My wife calls to order pizzas for the children "oh no we have too much work", she replies "no but it's due in 1 hour" - and then the nice person replies "no we don't have time" and the person hangs up. 10 minutes later, the same person calls back saying "so now we have time, what do you want to order?"... Obviously, she ordered elsewhere. Definitely a place to avoid. Forever.

We had the best wood fired oven pizza. 10/10! Thin crust with perfect proportion of cheese and sauce. Environment was very friendly and cozy.

Wonderful little spot off the beaten track I'm Zermatt. The pizza was world class. The place feels about as cozy and comfy as you could want. Wish I had more days left to come back.

Absolutely delightful restaurant and food! The restaurant has a cute atmosphere and the food is delicious. The owner was very friendly and was able to accommodate us even though we didn't have a reservation. We had the ricotta ravioli followed by an incredible chocolate mousse. My only complaint is that we got one mousse to split between three of us, when we should have each gotten our own! We went back a second time and had the pumpkin soup, lasagna, and spaghetti Bolognese, which were also wonderful dishes. **Reservations are highly recommended, especially if you have a larger party.

I was looking forward to the pizza here after all the good reviews. I had the fortune to grow up in an area of the world with amazing pizza(CT, USA) and now live in an area with terrible pizza(BC, CA) so I am always on the hunt for a delicious pie. The pizza here is pretty good, but not great. First of all, ours was straight up burnt on half of the crust edge, not just some light charring, which I find to be flavor enhancing, but burnt. I had to scrape and cut my crust to make it edible. I carried on despite this. The cheese and tomato sauce are high quality and were present in pleasing proportions.The meats on top were also quality. If we leave out the problem of ours being burnt(our neighbors’ were not, BTW) the crust was still too springy and soft in my opinion. My husband and I also got salads which were fresh and well flavored and our ice cream desserts were delicious. Overall a nice experience.

It was pretty busy when my partner and I swinged by for pizza and wine. Unfortunately, our pizzas were very soggy.

Very warm welcome and quality food. The pizzas are very good, the tiramisu too. Still a bit expensive (22.- per margherita…!)

Sadly we were disappointed of the quality of the pizzas, last time we came it was really good but that year it wasn't really worth the 30 francs, they achieved to fail an onion soup (the onions were almost raw and just in slightly salty water). The pizzas only taste like the tomato sauce and have very fiew mozzarella nor other ingredients, and they were very wet and soft, bone of the garniture holded in place. The deserts were perfect though. Well I wouldn't recommend that place for high prices of the dishes compared to what you get. The service was kinda weird too, not really smiling or asking if everything was okay.

The food was excellent the atmosphere phenomenal and the staff super! We lov this place.

Absolutely the worst service of any restaurant we have ever been to. Paying customers are an inconvenience to the staff. It’s astonishing that the owner has kept this business alive with other great options in Zermatt. If you want to go somewhere where customer service is nonexistent then by all means give this place a try!

You can make a online reservation at this restaurant but once we arrived they told us that they don't accept online reservation and only calls although we received a confirmation via Email. If you don't accept online reservations, then why do you even have this option?!

We ended up here a bit by chance, but I’m so glad we found this place. Everyone was super welcoming, and the food was pretty amazing. We had the 4 cheese pizza and a tiramisu, and honestly, they were some of the best I have ever had. If I’m ever again in Zermatt, I will be coming right back here for dinner.

I ordered spaghetti aglio olio. I might have as well just ordered spaghetti. Absolutely no taste, not even salt. Don’t waste your money here!!!

We ordered takeout from this place because their website and Google info says they do takeout orders. I called at 6pm, and was told to call back at 6:30. When I called back at 6:30 the man who answered the phone was rather rude and sounded irritated that I wanted to place a takeout order. He reluctantly took my order over the phone and when my husband showed up to pick it up the soup was in paper bowls with foil over them so they spilled everywhere. They had no plastic spoons for the soup and the pizza was cold. The obvious question is why does this establishment offer takeout if they are going to be rude when you try to place an order and why do they not have necessary takeaway boxes / utensils? If you don’t want to do takeaway orders then do not advertise that you do!

Best place for kids. We had 6 adults and 5 kids, and they were able to take same day reservations. The owner interacted with the kids, and all the staff made sure we were all happy. The food was great, and service made it even better.

SCAMMERS!!!! Only come here if you have a love for terrible service, bad food, and an unenthusiastic environment. The pizza was bland at best I would have rather had pizza from the grocery store, the cheese was cheap and the dough was severely undercooked. On top of all this they uncharged our bill and scammed us around 200$ and listed it as a tip, 0 STARS PLEASE STAY CLEAR.

Determined to eat pizza (after a week in Italy when we didn't eat it at all!) we left the well worn track of the Bahnhofstrasse, I crossed the river and just as we were about to lose hope suddenly spotted Pizzeria Roma. Lovely welcome, very cosy, excellent service and great pizzas. Couldn't ask for more.

Had the pasta carbonara and the mixed salad. I know salads are not an European specialty but it was bad. For the price I’d hope to get greens that are not slimy and corn not from a can. Carbonara was more of a cream sauce - not eggy and too rich. Have bad far better Italian much further from Italy.

Definitely 5 stars! Very, very friendly team and delicious pizza. The panna cotta was incredibly tasty and we also received limoncellos as a gift. If we are in Zermatt again, we would love to come back. Thank you!

We had margherita pizza here as it was one of the very few vegetarian options available. The waitress was very friendly and the service was prompt. One of the best pizzas i had in a while..

We ate well here and were served in a friendly manner, but the menu offers drinks for 3 dl, which are then only served as 2 dl and are still charged as 3 dl (apparently because there is no significant difference in the purchase price compared to the 3 dl bottles of other types of drinks)... Well.

The food was edible, that's all that can be said for it. It began with a disappointing salad with over sweetened, store-bought Italian dressing and no bread despite multiple requests. The saffron shrimp risotto was swimming in butter, which was the only thing I could taste, and contained in total perhaps 1or 2 shrimps cut into small pieces. The shrimp zucchini pasta had even less shrimp, and only 3 tiny pieces of zucchini accompanied by an extremely sour tomato sauce. The Margherita pizza was average at best. Definitely NOT worth the prices they charge, and my rumbling stomach tells me I'll be paying an even higher price later on. Will not be returning here.

Looked great from the outside as we unfortunately found out after eating there. We waited two nights to go there and were so excited as a place naming itself after the best city on planet earth had to be good, right? My mixed salad looked like 3 day old lettuce with a few bits of corn thrown in, along with some leek pieces and unions…salad dressing did not taste ‘home made’ and when I asked for bread to eat with my salad it was never delivered…the patrons next to us gave us theirs…my pizza margarita was average AT BEST…the shrimp risotto had 3 pieces of shrimp and was swimming in butter that had to be neutralized my most of the grated cheese on the table and my wife’s pasta had a few pieces of shrimp and three zucchini slices…the appearance was not inviting to eat and the overall taste was bland…at least our beers met our expectations…all this goodness for a cool 122 Swiss francs! I kindly mentioned our disappointment to the waitress (who never came by during meal) but it was met by apathy and no concern. I will not be recommending this restaurant to ANYONE or going back for more of this awful food! 🤮

Overall 4 stars, definitely a local's place. Dessert was super. The food was very good, but: we got seated in a tiny, warm corner with little airflow. Also got charged 10 CHF for water. Still recommended.

I did not eat in the restaurant but I saw what I assume was the owner and he was very attentive to his guests. He was very sincere about making sure everyone was happy. I could tell right away a lot of care goes into this restaurant. I think the dining area full of happy guests was a testament to that. My take out pizza was baked quickly and was delicious! Prices are a little high, but it's Zermatt.

Not sure why it states temporarily closed on Google, but my family and I ate at this restaurant during our trip to Zermatt. It was honestly the best Italian food we've ever had. The pizza crust was chewy and soft, yet crispy. The pasta were all very flavourful and tasty. The staff were very friendly and even the customers too.

Definitely a locals spot, which was exactly what we were hoping for. Brush up on your Italian, it will score you a few smiles. The pasta, both vodka and carbonara was delicious. We did take home tiramisu, and it didn’t disappoint either! Probably the best meal we’ve had in Zermatt thus far. Definitely recommend, and the ambience is great there as well.

One of the most delicious pizzas I've ever eaten. For me, this is the real thin crust pizza available here. It's thin, but you can grab a slice, the topping doesn't fall through. The edges are crispy but not dry. The drinks were served in seconds, you had to wait for the food, but the place was full and many people took pizza away.

Everything is great in this restaurant: the dishes, the desserts, the welcome, the service, the boss, the place....!!! We ate there every night of the week and had a blast!!! A special mention for the tiramisu and the pizzas: it was pure joy!! You can go there with your eyes closed!!!

We ordered the food to take away on site. We were extremely disappointed with the service and the food. The pasta didn't taste like anything, there was no cheese included and the tomato mozzarella salad was, firstly, much too expensive at CHF 18 and secondly, it came without sauce. The meal was absolutely not worth the almost CHF 100! You'd rather order from the delivery service, pay half the price and get delicious food!!!

Oh my goodness! The BEST Italian food we have ever had. We started with the caprese salad and wine. For the main course - the lasagna was perfect and the pizza was more than perfect. You take a bite and it tastes like the best meal you could ever imagine. Dessert was also delicious. The owner (or manager, not sure) was super nice and helpful. Loved an authentic Italian experience. Highly recommend😍

Busy busy busy - even on a Wednesday evening when the town wasn’t crazy busy. Definitely make a reservation or plan for take out! The gluten free pizza was great and they were happy to accommodate - their regular pizzas looked outstanding and authentic. Staff was friendly and working hard but made time to accommodate us and our questions.

This is by the the best lasagna and experience my friends and I have had in Zermatt. The owner is very nice and walks around to make sure everyone is having a great experience. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone visiting Zermatt to stop by and have an amazing meal in this amazing town.

Avoid Avoid. Purely for the price is chocking I’ve travelled round the world. And charging for a pizza this much is shocking. Should be ashamed really. That ripping people off. So avoid it with al cost. And it’s not about my money it’s about what should really a pizza be. Coming from a pizza chef too.

From the welcoming pizza chef just behind the front door, to the owner who wished us a pleasant return trip home as we headed for the railway, the people make the difference on a vacation like this. Best staff and service in Zermatt. Good people and good vibes. We really enjoyed our time there. The place is cosy but not fancy at all. Simple amenities. Go for the pizzas. They are delicious.

An Italian restaurant to recommend. The staff is always friendly and occasionally asks how it tastes. Even the boss asks. The food is very good. The prices are cheap and certainly correspond to the performance. The Roma is small but nice. Also has a few seats outside. After the meal, a limoncelli or grappa is offered on the house. It's worth stopping off and enjoying the Roma.

Cosy little restaurant. Not on the main street in Zermatt, but easy to find. Friendly and helpful staff. They speak several languages (German, English, Italian and English).
