Always good but not great this time

Great restaurant. The staff is very nice and attentive. I felt very good. I would like to thank you very much for the Easter egg that I received as a gift at the end. These are the little things that make it today. Thank you very much, see you soon. 🍀🙏

We were warmly welcomed. The service was friendly and competent. The chicken was good but could have been seasoned a little more. The sauce was too runny for my taste and could be thicker. We'd love to come back. unfortunately you can only pay in cash. Had to go to a bank, luckily there was one nearby

I've been eating there for over 30 years. Unfortunately, chickens are becoming smaller and more expensive. But unfortunately the sauce is awesome. So we continue to eat there but much less. It is normal that the prices are adjusted but the size of the chickens 😭

Had to wait 45 minutes for food. Half of it was forgotten all the way to the kitchen. The food was really great. When paying then the shock, like in the 18th century, ONLY cash payment possible. A pity.

Magnificent local with beautiful furnishings. Food was very good and tasted phenomenal. But the serving daughter was clumsy, didn't ask us for drinks and only mentioned afterwards whether we would like fries with the chicken. The French fries also cost separately and the chicken was very small for the price. You can only pay in cash, which is a bit questionable in 2024. (In my opinion).

There is no indication that card payments will not be possible in 2024 (!). In addition to the furnishings, unfortunately the service to customers has also remained the same. We visited the Pouletburg because of the famous Gügeli. The half chickens taste good and are nice and tender. However, they did not live up to the very high expectations. The staff were very busy and seemed stressed, which resulted in a restless atmosphere.

I would recommend chicken in a basket to everyone. The spicy sauce makes it perfect.

The quality of the food and service is good, but the restaurant's best days are definitely behind it; it hasn't been renovated for a long time. The best chicken I've ever eaten. I have known this restaurant for 10 years because the first time I went there I remember it was my birthday. I wanted to eat chicken and they told me that they had delicious chicken there and I went there and it was proven that March 12th was my birthday and it was the best chicken in the world that I have ever eaten and I thank you for the work of This restaurant is perfect and I will never forget this date. Overrated Place, Chicken was good but i ordered 1 Chicken paid 25.- and only got a half, wich doesent tastet that good as i excpectet from a Restaurant. Some Foodtrucks do it even better and charge less for the Chicken. The chicken was small and had basicly no taste without sauce. Service was quick and friendly.

What an unpleasant experience...food, service and bill do not correspond to what was consumed. The food and service method is undoubtedly from the 90's, which wouldn't be a problem if the food was professionally prepared, instead from poor quality meat to steamed vegetables with no seasoning, the cooking is generally poor. The service manages to do worse than the kitchen, the incompetence and the absence of service with the non-existent customer. From the cutlery thrown onto the table in a tray with the invitation to help ourselves to what we needed, the slowness of the service is indescribable. The icing on the cake, in addition to the absence of any form of electronic payment, the invoices are inflated in a less than transparent manner. We ordered a pork cordon bleu whose price was less than 30 CHF and we were billed with a supplement of over 5 CHF for steamed vegetables that were not requested. There were 7 of us, we took different dishes and the only thing in common was the lack of satisfaction. Listing all the other shortcomings would be like shooting at the red cross, too easy... I'll stop here with the recommendation to avoid this restaurant.

I'm really at a loss for words right now. The service wasn't exactly friendly. The ambience and music weren't suitable and the price-performance ratio was really bad. Hard bread/half a gherkin and half a chicken for 20 CHF. Sorry, that really doesn't work.

This place is busy and popular. People stop from all over to eat the food. Just off the autobahn in Altdorf.

The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Saturday (1 p.m.). There were enough service staff there and therefore no long waiting times. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The chicken in Chörbli was definitely good. The spicy sauce is great. I also had a side salad which seemed pretty fresh and homemade. No pre-cut salad mix or anything like that. Overall, it seemed a bit too expensive to me, but it wasn't exorbitant. 4 stars are well deserved 👌✌️👍

Nothing special. In contrast, I'm a little disappointed with the "homemade" sauce, which is basically melted butter. Chicken was already good, similar to when you buy chicken from a food truck. What is definitely a NO GO is the price for mayo, 1.50, which is what the children wanted for fries. In contrast, ketchup is free. If you order chicken wings, also here, dipped in butter sauce, 16.- fries are not included and are ordered and calculated separately. Dessert menu shows prices above average. Ambience is purely Swiss. Based on images in Google, I noticed that there was also a SPEZ sauce, but we weren't told or asked about it. In addition, you have to remember to wash your hands before eating, there are no cutlery. When you ask the waitress for additional wet napkins, you are reminded that what we found on the table are for the end, not the beginning.

The legendary chicken wings or chicken in the Chörbli (basket) are simply simply GIGANTIC, HEAVENLY AND DIVINE🙏🏻. There is a basket of bread with 3 relatively large pieces for FREE. Pretty amazing, such a generous service😍🥰. The only (for me) "big minus point" is the fact that I pay cash in cash. KE Twint or card💳 possible.😳🥵🥶😬. That's quite a shame, thank you, what a modern quote I have today and that it would be so digital in the future😇😊☺️🙂🙃. Fortunately, there is no way to go to the Raffeisen Bank/Outomat to solve any problem (not bad, number Twint and or card in the bag/dürbi🙈😂). Aues ih auem uh top flight and adventure tip, as long as the girl knows how to appreciate Bargäud and likes "auterstum/old school" or preference🙈😂☺️🙃🙂😊😇

If you come here... you have to eat the chicken... obviously I've tried something else 😅. The people with me were very satisfied with the chicken in the basket. I ate some chips adding their super sauce (good) and I ate a salad. A French dressing arrived with the salad, without asking anything... I was fine with it, but I would have preferred if they had asked me what I wanted. The mixed salad is a little "pacious". Slow and wrong service. You cannot pay by card. Absurd. Traditional Swiss restaurant, their chicken-in-basket dish is very famous, together with their special house sauce. Be prepared to pay in cash or accept an invoice (Rechnung). Card payments are not possible.

Characteristic medieval style restaurant, chicken cooked in a basket and the main dish with a special sauce. Consistent price for chicken you spend 25 fr more or less like in Ticino. The desserts are good but as always expensive but never like 11 fr for a liter of water......

The staff is very overwhelmed and it takes a long time for the food to arrive. Our waitress was so overwhelmed that she forgot our drinks and took the entire order twice... However, she was at least very friendly. However, the HR manager is extremely unfriendly and arrogant! If you want to go on the weekend, I definitely recommend making a reservation.

I expected a little more for the chicken. It wasn't bad but from the photos I had seen I was disappointed. They do not accept debit or credit cards, only cash. So I found myself in difficulty not having any Swiss francs with me. They accepted euros but with the exchange I paid more.

We were a group of 9 people there. The service was the only positive thing about this place. She was friendly but a bit sleepy. The mixed salad starter was bathed in ready-made sauce from the wholesaler. Contents: half a plate filled with cabbages (it was very roughly cut), carrot salad (prepared salad from wholesalers) and even ugly ready-made leaf salad from wholesalers. The main course of chicken in the basket was very small and kind of greasy. Fries were cold. But the downfall was definitely the little older blonde service lady (even the boss). She harshly pointed out to our waitress that our table would be occupied again from 2:30 p.m. and that she should get rid of us quickly. I've never seen anything so unprofessional in one Experienced restaurant.

Bad, it's gotten so bad for a while now. They are small rubber eagles from China. The boxes are behind the house. I recently picked up a mini mini pale chicken with lame cucumber and hard bread and we were very good customers.

Unfortunately, we were not completely satisfied with our visit to this restaurant. In this day and age, it was surprising that card payments were not accepted. The comfort for strollers also left a lot to be desired, which is or was important for us as a family. The food - particularly the chicken with medium and spicy sauce - was OK, but didn't reach the quality we've come to expect from other places. However, the friendly staff and the clean environment of the restaurant should be highlighted positively. However, we probably won't come back in the future.

Chicken with “secret” sauce is a must and this is the place to taste it. Note: At Jan 24 the restaurant do not accept debit/credit cards. Be equipped with cash otherwise there is bancomat close by

Today we go to eat in this characteristic place. Dated place in a nice little town. Maybe to make people drink... When the bill arrived for three with 3 chickens, 3 chips and the drink, beer, water and soda, the price was a bit expensive at 112.- Frs. But what I don't understand is that in 2024 you can't pay with a debit card and forces the customer to pay in cash... but once a year you can also go.

Ok, I admit, I have minimal expectations of a restaurant. If the prices are high, the food should be at least a little special. Apart from the name, there is nothing special about Poullet Castle. The chicken is not crispy, the fries are fried in oil that is not fresh. The portiomen are tiny. Salad and French fries are available in the really small chicken half for 24 Fr. not there. What should be special about the sauce? It tastes extremely salty and like a lot of flavor enhancers. In a nutshell, a classic tourist trap with mass processing. I don't understand why people line up for such unspectacular Swiss cuisine. I know other restaurants with Swiss cuisine where the price/performance ratio is right. In the end you have to walk to the ATM because there is no card or Twint. For me, the first and last time.

I was here for dinner on the recommendation and I must say that the chicken with sauce and served in the basket is truly superlative, better if you ask for double sauce to enjoy it better and to have the slipper afterwards... I accompanied the chicken with a nice mug of beer and excellent and plentiful French fries, to finish I delighted myself with a cup of ice cream drowned in liqueur and cream. the place is nice and the large room has a beautiful view of the houses that frame Lake Lucerne almost like a nativity scene. In my opinion the bill was slightly high considering what I chose... but this is also dictated by the unfavorable exchange rate... ah already paid in Euros and in cash with the rest in Swiss francs and I didn't like this.... and they don't accept credit cards, another downside. Decent service even if they could do better... menu in German only and waiter staff who don't all speak English... despite everything to be recommended for the chicken in sauce to eat with your hands!

4 important things to know: 1. You can only pay in cash. They don't accept credit cards. 2. If you want cutlery to eat you have to ask for it, otherwise you eat the chicken using your hands. 3. If you want fried potatoes as a side dish you have to ask for them, I took it for granted that they would arrive together with the chicken. 4. The sauce served to you is little, if you want more you have to pay the supplement. As for the chicken, absolutely average, it's the same as you can find in other restaurants that serve this dish. Good yes but as said no more than the others. I strongly advise you to reserve your table because otherwise you risk not finding a seat.

Small chicken, the sauce wasn't even enough to finish the chicken and it was a little salty... I've been stopping by for more than 10 years when I return from internal Switzerland, but each time the sauce and chicken are less and less... Still good 😋

Chicken in the basket fr.24 - very good. It's worth queuing at the Gotthard. For those who have an EV car there is a column 10 minutes walk away.

This shop ONLY has the name, but it's worth NOTHING. I'll put it this way, not even worth 1 star. Service was catastrophic, we were at the place at 12:55 on Sunday and the drinks weren't brought to us until 1:30 p.m. While we were still eating the salad, the main course suddenly arrived. Then they tipped us 1.50 for mayonnaise and 1.50 for hot sauce. What an impudence. You feel like you want to let the guests eat quickly and then get rid of them. And this chicken and sauce isn't that at all. Maybe it was all special once. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Always eating fine chicken with different sauces is a pleasure. It's also worth taking a long journey by public transport.

The food is way too expensive. The chicken in the basket is only half and you have to pay for the oh-so-great chicken sauce. The fries were cold after "complaining" they put the same fries in the frying pan for a few seconds and brought them again. The "Wienerschnitzel" is small and for 30 francs I expect something different. NOT RECOMMENDABLE. IT USED TO BE BETTER!

The food was good. The waitress responsible for us (probably Chef de Service short, medium-short black hair) was very bad. The plate was taken away from us while we were still eating, we couldn't believe it. We arrived half an hour early and asked if they were ready yet. She said yes, but afterwards there was a whisper/blasphemy: “But they’re there half an hour early.”

I was there years ago and had positive memories of the Pouletburg. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case... The ambience is unchanged: a dining hall somewhere in the 70s/80s; That doesn't really bother me, but 70/80 is a little nicer! The food (chicken in a basket) was ok, nothing more and nothing less. The fact that you can only pay in cash is also rather difficult in 2023; The least we could do was to communicate this clearly (at the entrance or at the table at the latest) - so we also made our way down the slope to the ATM and up again... The service was friendly and almost felt sorry for us, because it's her, which has the same discussion with the guest at every (!) table. All in all, definitely not worth a stop! Dear Imholz family, this won't be going well for much longer - what a shame!

After eight years of coming regularly, I have to confess a few things. The chicken is good as are the rest of the dishes, the clays are well served. The service is good, I still don't speak (Swiss) German but there is always a waitress who speaks either Italian or English. The place is clean, the atmosphere is rustic with patriotic and regional flourishes. However, after almost 10 years there is still no way to pay with the card (although the banks are thieves, it is a good service to use their cards. Now a father of two children, I decided to take a carafe of water, but the restaurant brought me a bottle, it's not too serious because I know how it goes. On the other hand, I didn't expect the price of this one (11CHF per liter) 😅 There you go, I went from extremely convinced to a little disappointed by these two points. So I took two stars off and I hope this will help people who pass by.

An essential stop when taking a gastronomic tour of Switzerland. Here you can taste the classic Swiss octopus cooked in a basket, with the typical traditional sauce. The price is in line with German-speaking Switzerland. Quick and friendly staff. It is possible to eat at almost any time of the day. The room can be classic or more or less spicy. There are parking spaces at the entrance.

The most delicious chicken I have ever eaten. The sauce is delicious by dipping a wonderful bread into the sauce. It is definitely a place to go.
