Poushe in Zürich

Total delusion. In the past I ordered some apple strudel and they were ok , today i tried some salty products. one strudel was with rice, spargel and tomato, they used some super strong spices, could not digest them after hours and hours(it was some kind of indian spice or i dont know what but it was superstrong). I also ordered vanilla cake and it was TOO SWEET!please dont come to me with answer that you don t use too much sugar because it is not true.

CHF 12.50 for this minuscule cheesecake - about a factor of 2 too much, even for Zurich

The strudels were amazing. Not too sweet and the balance of the apple and cinnamon was perfect for us. But the price was surprising... 31 chf for these two strudels....

I wanted to have a snack and what better thing than with a strudel? I take the classic strudel with apple and cinnamon, 14 francs and added cream, 4 francs and what can I say? Honestly, I didn't like it very much, in fact I left half of it, it was made with phyllo dough, which I would say was particular, however the filling seemed a little acidic to me and wasn't very good overall, as was the cream which was a little heavy and stupendous. I'm sorry but for me it's not worth it

I tried the original vanilla cinnamon flavor which was very good, if you like strudel you should try it

After coming across Poushe several times, we thought we had to give it a try. Well... we paid 14.50 for an apple cinnamon strudel with vanilla sauce. For this price we had high expectations of the taste. However, it was moderate, very dry on the outside, you couldn't taste much of the apple because the cinnamon covered everything up, the strudel had an artificial sweetness and there were also a few apple seeds. The vanilla sauce was cold and in our opinion had nothing to do with vanilla. All in all it wasn't worth the money at all. Tried once and never again.

Delicious food but I don't think the prices are justified! I paid 4CHF for the vanilla sauce. There used to be a man full of vanilla sauce. Yesterday I only got sauce on my plate. For the amount, 4CHF is simply not justified. The marble cake was advertised at 8CHF. 9CHF was charged on the invoice. Unfortunately I noticed it too late, otherwise I could have complained about it. I think with the high prices the bill should at least be correct.

Blue cheesecake strudel, cinnamon scroll and cappuccinos were great. Staff were so kind and welcoming too.

Always very delicious, unique creations, many are actually vegan. I warmly recommend the cheese cake with or without poppy seeds, and Zwetchgen-Mohn (plum + poppy cake).

I was really looking forward to the Poushe, but was perhaps expecting Austrian Studel instead of Bulgarian. Overall a big disappointment for the price. We tried 3 strudel take away: The mixed mushroom strudel (16.50) was too salty. The lentil curry strudel (15.50) tasted like a standard curry spice mix (also very salty). And in the plum and poppy seed strudel (14.50) I didn't find any plums, only apples. Also very sweet on top, very dry on the outside. A pity!

I have to say that they do have some of the best strudels that I have ever had. I’ve tried probably their entire sweet strudels and there is not one that I disliked. When it comes to the other food offerings they have, I found it good, and quite pricey when it comes to value-for-money. Portions weren’t that big as well. All in all it’s a cool place to hang out for coffee and a bite.

I was on the search for a great cinnamon roll but this was not it. It was completely dry. My search continues!

I stocked up at Globus last Saturday. The strudels are world-class and really delicious, as are the vanilla crescents. The eggplant salad was absolutely amazing, so good that I will run to the globe again on Monday. The only small downside was that everything was in the very high price segment. Therefore a star deduction.

Given the already quite high prices, they sold me vanilla syrup for the pie for almost the same price as the pie itself, without warning me in advance that there would be a charge. Please train waiters to warn you in advance about prices for extras. the products they offer. There is also a point that straws are not inserted into take-away glasses (it turned out when buying lemonade), the girl who was selling lemonade simply shrugged her shoulders, smiled, opened the lid of the glass and put the straw in there (which made it simply impossible to walk down the street with such lemonade, since everything was spilled). I don’t understand why cafes can’t buy normal takeaway glasses with the option of using straws

Had it at a street food festival. It's even more expensive there...14.50. The quality is ok but not more. Completely overpriced. We had it three times. The first time. The last time. And one time too many.

My husband brought 3 strudels sometime back as a little surprise treat. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures because we all gobbled down these dense and tasty strudels in 5 mins. We = husband, son, cats and I. Of course we didn’t let the cats eat 🤭 It’s one of the rare experiences in Zurich where the price justifies the quality and creativity. We’ll definitely be back to try more. Well done guys!

Came from America in search of the best Apple strudel in Switzerland and ended up at Poushe. Saying it was nothing less than amazing is an understatement. Flaky, apple gooey, deliciousness.

Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the service and one of the employees was also very unfriendly. We entered the Pousche Strudelhaus at exactly 5:45 p.m. (after we had finished work), because we really wanted to try the strudels recommended by Poinz, for which we had even bought a voucher in advance. To do this, we rushed halfway across the city, only to be turned away in a very rude and annoyed tone because, and I quote: “the cash register had already closed” - the disappointment was great and we hadn't already bought the voucher we wouldn't have danced there a second time. I understand that you don't have to rush into a store 3 minutes before closing time with the expectation of getting something BUT a whole 15 minutes beforehand you aren't even served? 2 weeks later we tried again (with a 1 hour reserve) but this time we were told that our voucher was no longer valid (which it was for 2 months - as declared on the digital voucher) and again she really wanted us brazenly brush off. Only a phone call with her superior cleared up the misunderstanding. The saleswoman was just as unfriendly during the rest of the service as she was last time. As for the strudel itself, well to be fair, they were quite good but not outstanding for the price, which was horrendous despite the voucher. We had three strudels (the spinach-feta strudel, the apple-cinnamon strudel and the strawberry strudel) and a vanilla crescent. The apple-cinnamon strudel still had various apple cores in it, which was a bit unpleasant to eat, and the vanilla sauce (another extra 4.-) unfortunately had lumpy pieces in it (even after warming it up at home). All in all, not necessarily tragic but for the price and the unreasonable service, the strudel is absolutely not worth it.

Absolutely TOP! I'd love to point out how good are the people from POUSHE! HOMEMADE food at its best! You can rarely find such a place nowadays, where EVERYTHING is freshly made from great ingredients. I have my favorite strudels from the salty ones (spinach and feta with 2 salads aside) and from the sweet ones as well ( apple caramel and pumpkin cinnamon). P.S. : Try the HOMEMADE Ice Tea! No sugar, from dried fruits, absolutely stunning! If you want a traditional full of sugar drink- better go somewhere else. Here everything is homemade and not coming from bottle. I am very happy these guys STILL KEEP THIS HIGH STANDARD! Small, Cosy, super tasty and friendly!

Very unfriendly, extinguished staff. You don't feel welcome, you have the impression that you are disturbing the staff during their break!!

I can only recommend this place! I have been here a few times now and everytime I am amazed how good the Strudels are. They have a lot of different once also Savory which you can combine with the greatest salads. Also the stuff is super friendly and will always be glad to help you with your choice. I will be back!

Very good strudel, nice service. On the pricey side even for Zurich. What shocked me is that they heat up the strudel with a MICRowave. This should be forbidden -and destroys the strudel.

Ambiance is cool, food is good but not good enough for the price :) The service is friendly, but always super stressed & therefore it often takes longer until the order is actually ready...

The strudels are actually good. Unfortunately, nothing around it at all. The hefty prices lead one to expect top service, but it is subpar. Cold vanilla sauce and our drinks weren't ready when the strudels were warmed up. A few minutes after we sat down someone came and rudely told us to get the drinks. The location is casually styled but uncomfortable and extremely tight.

Excellent, homemade strudels with love. Worth every penny. They have a lot of different flavors, my favourite are Apfel Dark Chocolate and Mohn Cheese Cake.The staff is very friendly. I will definitely come back :)

Authentic place with amazing food, ranging from savory and sweet Strudel in a variety of flavours and delicious salads - tasty, good ingredients, lovely people. Would recommend for takeaway for you but also for small gatherings. You can also host you events there: They will organize food and drinks according to your preferences in a cozy location. We are very satisfied :)

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of sweet and savoury strudels at Pousche. Amazing salads and home made breads.. The ginger lemon drink was fantastic and a must try. :-)

We were at the Bernese Stärnemarkt today and can rightly claim that we found the unfriendly employee in the entire market. She couldn't force a greeting or a thank you. We bought strudel and pastries for over 40 CHF. The vanilla sauce that came with the strudel was only handed to us very grumpily and only when we specifically asked (even though it was included according to the menu). For 2 strudels we got a small pot of vanilla sauce - we still wanted to see if this was enough for us. When we needed a little more sauce for the second strudel, the saleswoman muttered some insult under her breath and, with clear dislike, gave us a small dollop of second helpings. The taste of the strudel was average - the service was absolutely subpar. We were definitely customers for the first and last time.

The food is good but we recommend a little more friendliness and motivation with the customers.

We stayed at an Air BnB nearby. We found this place ad wr were walking back from the streetcar stop. We wanted to get something sweet and have a coffee. The6bare known for their strudel. The pastry was excellent. The place is small but with tables to sit. It gave me the feeling if a neighborhood hangout. Staff was courteous and the place was not to loud. It wasn't bustling like the cafes and bistros in the city. We felt at home immediately. Prices were moderate. A little cheaper than in the city. I would go there again because the desserts were very good. Just what we were looking for.

You know Zurich (in fact Switzerland) is expensive so for a handmade good looking Apple strudel that comes in other flavors, ingredients from local farms, supporting the local neighborhood, this is worth the price. It’s nice, small and the staff are friendly, helping me pick a favorite. Made my morning!

Very tasty strudels, as we know them from various street food festivals. It's a shame that the vanilla cream is served cold and has to be paid extra, so you end up with over 40 francs for two people for "just" strudel & cream + coffee.

Once and never again! The café is right next to a stop on the busy Waffenplatzstrasse, atmosphere zero. The prices are very high, 12 francs for a piece of strudel. The strudel is okay, but nothing more. The service is very unfriendly, everything seems to be too much for her. So why should you go to the Poushe?

Best strudel ever! Light and airy, the caramel is not too dominant. The poppy seed and plum strudel was also brilliant! I'm now looking forward to the spinach-feta strudel, which will be available for lunch tomorrow... The only downer: the prices, otherwise I would have been a regular customer for a long time.

Good quality, but too expensive. I paid 4CHF extra for the vanilla cream. In other places that is free of charge. In total I paid 25CHF for 1 standard strudel and 2 coffee. EDIT: I was expecting to be at least informed about the extra charge for the vanilla. It was not clear at all.

I love the Poushe swirls! Above all, the salty creations are a real must in all of their creations. You can tell that there is a lot of love in all the whirlpools.

The Poushe Strudel House is unique in the quality of its products. No matter what you try there - sweet or salty - it simply tastes great! You can just tell how much heart and passion everything is made with. Every single piece is a masterpiece and is made every day through hard manual work and with a lot of love. The price/performance ratio is therefore completely justified. The family is incredibly friendly and helpful. I can recommend everyone to go there, relax and enjoy great food. I will always enjoy eating there again and again. Keep it up! You deserve every success in the world 🙏🏻

Conclusion: indeed overpriced. (11.5chf) Bought in Globus, picked apple caramel Donno if in the cafe shop they will heat up for you but eating it cold was not so pleasant. Filling is relatively generous but tasted quite basic, did not sense the caramel part in the fillings. I don’t like overly sweet desserts but this one was lacking some sweetness, the filling tasted too “natural”. It was just okay, not worth the price. Even by Zurich standard you can find more satisfying dessert/pastry. Won’t go back for sure and would not recommend

Massively overpriced for what is offered. Cappuccino, Flat White... We had different coffee drinks and they all looked and unfortunately tasted the same. We were not informed when we placed the order that payment can only be made cashless, nor is it clearly written anywhere. In principle it's okay. But if you only have cash, Postcard and Twint with you, it would be nice to know before consumption that cash, as well as Postcard and Twint, are not accepted. I can't recommend it. A second star because the employee present was very friendly.

If you are in to afternoon tea ☕with quality dessert🍰, this is the place. (aka, place for gossip girls 😉😛)

Summary: made us pay for food with hair in it Got a slice of chocolate cake (7 CHF), paid upfront. After a few bites, we noticed there was a long hair in it. We returned the cake and they took it back. Later one member of the staff came to our table and offered us a small sweet snack (worth 4 CHF) and said they were sorry. When we left, we asked for a refund for the 7 CHF cake. They refused to give us a refund, saying that they had already given us that apology snack for free (which again, was worth only 4 CHF). We told them this didn't seem fair. We essentially paid 7 CHF for a 4 CHF cake, plus we had the bad experience of finding a hair in our food. They kept repeating that they couldn't do refunds, because the system doesn't support refunds and that they fixed the problem by offering us that free snack. We told them that this was a sure way to lose customers, making them pay for bad food that they didn't eat. Still, they wouldn't budge. Oh, and in the end, they didn't even throw away the cake from which our slice was cut. They kept it on the shelf, to sell more of it to other customers.

Reasonable place to get some strudel for dessert or takeaway. For dine in I wish they'd heat it up a little and serve with cream automatically.

Stopped here for a strudel and cappuccino during a bike ride. Both were delicious. The place is nice and cozy, and the strudels are well done.

I bought two strudels at the stand in front of the globus. There the lady didn’t even bother to say hi or to help me out, she didn’t even say thank you or bye! And on top of that my strudels had apple stems in them. Now I don’t find that horrible but for the price this type of thing shouldn’t happen. I messaged them through Instagram just to let them know that this happened to me, I was respectful and didn’t ask for anything. But they in return were rude and condescending, they even told me that I was lucky because apple stems are healthy! The taste of the strudels is just plain nothing special and not worth the price to me.

I generally liked the Poushe Strudels (tried one with apple and caramel and another one with berries). I would love the dough-flakes to be a tiny bit less firm. The filling was a little too sweet for my taste. However apart from that, both strudels were quite tasty and I guess they would be even better if consumed warm in the café and not on the go. I think the Strudelhouse is worth a visit.

Cute café with very good food. Mixed Berry Strudel was my favorite. The service was outstanding, the young spanish waitress was very charming and helpful. Looking forward to my next visit!

What a dreamy Cappuccino. Cannot stop thinking about it. Perfectly roasted coffee with milk fresh from the farm. And the food!! Definitely a fan.

Extremely over priced garbage. I bought several strudels with unpealed apples and seeds. Very little stuffing inside the studels. Embarassing to offer family or friends. Stingy Poushe. Never Again!

I enjoyed the Poppy Seed Strudel a lot! Having grown up in a hospitality business where all pastries are homemade, I understand the work that goes into making pastries, however despite this I do not think that a price of 11 CHF is justified for such a pastry. I would definitely re-purchase is it was more affordable

Bought 3 strudels to take away from the Poushe stand in front of the globe. We were a bit shocked at the price, because a strudel to take away costs 10 francs, so a total of 30 francs. The strudels are all homemade and look very appealing. The taste is okay, but in my opinion nothing that justifies the price. Still seems to be popular because some strudels were almost sold out.

This review is solely on the taste of the strudel. It looks super great but somehow not mine. The skin doesn't have any taste and the filling is lightly sweet. For me, there's no dimension of taste. If it would have more sourness, it might taste better. The apple filling was cut very fine, like chopped apple from thermomix. I'd find the chunky more interesting and it would given the sticky feeling in the mouth.

They advertised a Wertgutschein-- that you could spend 50 francs however you wanted-- but it just turned out to be a deal where you could only spend the Gutschein on Strudel. Unacceptable
