RENÉE in Basel

Ambience and service great! Unfortunately the owner is completely aggressive and violent, especially towards women! A pity! Otherwise it would be a great place to celebrate!

I've never been there but I have the pleasure of being able to listen to their music half the night during the week - on the 2nd floor of the building next door. They should receive an award for their soundproofing measures alone.

Nothing special any more, drinks are the same as everywhere else and customer service is not good at all. I was a big fan over the years, but it seems that success leads to quality loss. Better look for other options, as I'm not the only one complaining about the same topics, have a look at other feedbacks 😉

Very nice and unusual ambience. Great drink selection. Very friendly and quick staff. Superbly danceable music that is unfortunately far too rare to find today. Free peacock feathers... An absolute must!!

Nasty negroni and even worse barkeepers

Unfortunately, service was once again below average. Unfriendly and seemed very listless, which was also noticeable in the quality. Bar employees gossiped about guests behind the bar, which was very audible (maybe even intentional?). The location is good, otherwise the bar is unfortunately not recommended at all.

A bar that has a lot to offer. Good beer and good drinks. Behind the somewhat hidden red doors and in Klingental. In the Renée there is dancing and laughter. DJs and live concerts create a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to dance.

Amazing place, it stole my heart from first moment and can have the title as one of the best bars in Basel with amazing staff and manager! Big selection of various drinks and warm atmosphere! I'm definitely coming back for the same experience next time in Basel! Danke!

Only those who have been to Renee can describe what it is really like. From the wide choice of music, to the crowd, to the large selection of drinks, which are also properly mixed, everything at Renee is actually right. The only criticism is that you can't get some fresh air (noisy neighbors) and it can get stuffy at times on a crowded evening. I recommend Renee to anyone looking for a fun night out in Basel. Gladly again and again!

Unfortunately, this was the second time I had a negative experience with the same woman. That's far too little for gastronomy and service. To top it off, I was able to observe how the lady talked to an employee about me. I didn't interpret it as positive. I suspect that the shortage of skilled workers has also hit the catering industry hard. In the future I would like to clearly avoid such negative experiences and I can only achieve this if I stay away from Renée.

Completely arrogant door staff with no respect, unfriendly and misogynistic!

One of the nicest places in Klein Basel. A bar during the evening with outdoor seating, which later turns into a club. Music is nice and for dancing. Entrance is 20chf, but you get a credit for the same amount. It’s useful to avoid getting overcrowded since it’s a small place after all. It gets going after 1am usually.

Cool bar with good drinks and good music. Unfortunately, there have now been repeated waiting times of around 25 minutes to order a beer at the bar, with already high prices and minimum consumption, which really robs you of your patience. The drinks are definitely great, but when you wait so long it's no longer clear to me why even a simple Gintonic gets so much more attention than the next customers. If a blonde pushes forward and immediately gets the barman's attention, you really don't feel like paying 10 for a pint anymore.

Stylish speakeasy type of bar, often with DJs and dancing. It's not cheap, but I guess that's okay for the niche market they are mostly running ("Grenzwert & co just closed, but not yet drunk enough for Friends Bar") and the slightly upscale yet rugged vibe they are selling

They serve a grande selection of drinks and delicious Champagnes. The smokers lounge is quite frequented and on weekends you often get the chance to hear live acts. Late at night it gets rather crowded. The atmosphere can be described as metropolitan - it could literally be located in New York or London.

Good drinks, live DJing. It is very crowded and the places to sit are mainly in the smoking area.

Schräger Schuppen mit coolem Publikum. Musik war für meine Begriffe ein wenig zu laut. Aber für ein letztes Bier zu später Stunde reicht's vollkommen.

E Arbeitskoleg het bsoffe vor 1.5 Johr dört inne chli Problem gmacht (nit z verteidige, definitiv nit. aber isch au wirklich nüt schockierendes passiert, oder nüt, wo me irgendwen nit entschuldige könnt). Was dört passiert isch, ka ich nit beurteile. was ich aber sage ka, isch, dass mi koleg us Fehler lernt und wirklich eine vo de umgänglichste Persone, wo ich kenn, isch. Man spürt hier den Basler vibe, sehr authentischer Ort mit gutem Bar-Angebot, live Musik. Leider ist das "fumoir" nicht richtig getrennt vom Rest, sprich nicht geschlossen und man nimmt relativ schnell den Geruch auf.

Eigentlich ein äusserst netter Schuppen. Doch für ein halbes Dutzend Mandeln extra bezahlen zu müssen - nachdem man in der Vergangenheit durchaus genug Geld für Bier über den Tresen geschoben hat - ist nicht gerade kundenfeundlich. This was the last time.

Keine Chance für Einlass trotz Wartezeit und höflichem Auftreten. Nicht gastfreundlicher Empfang. Man hatte das Gefühl zu stören anstatt Willkommen zu sein. Der Türsteher war unfreundlich und abweisend.

Die Bar ist super aber die Politik wegen rein und raus war richtig schlimm. Man konnte nicht mal auf die frische Luft, sonst durfte man nicht mehr zurück. Um rauszukommen musste man kämpfen als ob es ein Gefängnis wäre. Entschuldigung aber das geht gar nicht.

Super Drinks und Atmosphäre! Eher klein, dunkel aber schön eingerichtet (Wände mit echten Pfauendedern tapeziert). Keine Mainstreemmusik eher alternativ. Bester Bloody Mary in Basel! Und unbedingt den Deux Frères Gin probieren!

I asked the blonde female Barkeeper if I can have "four Beers". She said we dont serve this Brand. "OK sweetheart, I just wanted 4 beers, one for me and 3 for my buddies, but WHAT?" Stupid bar. (No actually its not, it is a very good Bar, i only rated it with 3 Stars, because I i like it and and I dont want it to be that crowded). Now my buddy is laughing, so this means 2 Stars. He is venezualian, you know what they do, if you speak up.

Spezielle Atmosphere, schwarze Wänder mit Pfauenfäder, modern, aber trotzdem bewahrt eine alternative Atmosphere. Konzerte für kleinere nicht so bekannte Gruppen sind in Menü - das ist Renee. Im Sommer ist es auch schön, draussen zu sitzen.

Un buen lugar y muchas oportunidades para mezclar y mezclar. Enorme bar pero no podía conseguir una Hennesy y coca cola, tenía que ser cerveza de jengibre o ginger ale, la cerveza era lo suficientemente buena. Este es un lugar popular de noche con mucho espacio para dejar sus pertenencias y soltarse. ¡Las ostras eran deliciosas!Lo pasé bien, me hubiera gustado una mejor mezcla de música.

Great atmosphere, very late opening and generally good music! There are 2 glaring issues that don't seem to get corrected. First, it takes a VERY long time to get served, there are never enough bar staff for the types of drink they serve, and secondly, once you are served, don't dare insult them by asking for Coke as a mixer in anything. They won't do it. Drink police in full force. Otherwise, very enjoyable.

Nice place, seperate smoker room included..where practically everyone is. Gets full on weekends. Sometimes small acts play. I find it disrespectful that they don't serve a whiskey coke. Might as well disallow gin tonic etc. At least you can order a whiskey and later on a coke.

The Renee Bar could be a nice spot for an evening drink. They have sidewalk tables facing the small corner square and on this visit most of these tables were taken due to the nice weather. I headed inside to order a beverage and take a seat. Inside, there is a bar with tall stools and a few tables and chairs and a dj booth with turn tables. Another room was located at the back of the space and there was light rock music playing in the background. I ordered my large beer (8CHF) from the young lady at the bar and I took a seat at one of the tables. Renee has a few beers on tap and about any cocktail your heart desires.The young lady at the bar was very friendly when she took my order, too bad I cannot say the same for shaved head gentleman with a red beard and mustache. I had gone back to the bar to order another beverage. I stood at the bar and made every attempt to have him raise his head as he was practically standing right in front of me opposite of the bar and he refused to raise his head. I tried no fewer than five times (speaking out) to have him look up and he totally ignored me. (Before the owner/manager responds to this, I will say the music was not that loud that he could not see or hear me). I moved to another area of the bar, he immediately starting looking up and assisted another customer that was standing exactly where I had been standing. I have no other reason than to believe he was just biased and refused to assist me. Needless to say, I did not order another beverage. I inquired with another bartender as to where their restrooms facilities were located then departed, not leaving with an overall good impression based totally on Mr. Redbeard’s attitude. I would have certainly rated the place very high had it not been for this one bartender. I can’t say that I would recommend or visit again if they have someone like this person on their staff.

Eine sehr schöne Bar mit einem umfangreich und gut augewähltem angebot an spirituosen. Die Cocktails die wir uns empfehlen lassen haben waren sehr gut. Es hat ein raucherbereich und ein aussenbereich.
