Restaurant Alpenrose in Zweisimmen

We didn’t expect such a nice French inspired restaurant in Zweisimmen. Only had a short stay as we were headed early next morning to the balloon festival. The brasserie surprised us by all means. Service, menu and drinks were fantastic. They had several kinds of mulled wine, rare find. Choosing from the menu was tough, everything sounds delicious. We opted for a daily soup, I had the tartare and my husband had the Suure Mocke from their winter menu. Flavors were great and we enjoyed everything. Unfortunately no more space for dessert. This place is reason enough to come back to Zweisimmen.

In 2005, the former restaurant Alpenrose / Alpenrösli was lovingly transformed into the Brasserie zur Simme "Chez Marco" through a complete renovation, and the restaurant has become a highlight in Zweisimmen. The classic dishes on the menu are lovingly and tastefully put together and are a real treat for the palate. But the selected desserts are also homemade, delicious and not run-of-the-mill. There are several halls on the first floor that are suitable for all kinds of events. The staff is courteous, friendly and permanently employed (no seasonal workers). It's no coincidence that a friendly regular customer base likes to sit down here for food and drink. There are toilets at the entrance to the inviting terrace and at the stairs to the first floor. A reservation is recommended because the brasserie's good reputation is widely known - so if you want to get a seat without any stress, you'd do well to take precautions. Supplement 2024: We stopped here again and can only confirm that the brasserie still has the best food and very nice staff. Simply recommended...

We had an excellent meal in the Brasserie zur Simme and were served very friendly and courteous. The place is very cozy and has a nice atmosphere. Be sure to try the monthly beer too!

We asked spontaneously and a nice place was set up for us within 5 minutes. The venison ragout was by far the best thing I have ever eaten in my life! Very creatively refined, a classic but anything but run-of-the-mill. The dessert, Gruyère Merengue with double cream, was also super delicious! The waitress topped everything, a very attentive and charming gentleman. In terms of price, it's completely okay and anything but overpriced (price and quality match). For 2 people with the menu Leberli and game including drinks and wine and 2 desserts it was around 110.-, there's really nothing to say. We'll definitely be back :D

2022: Went there for coffee. Nice restaurant, friendly conditions and the coffee was tip top. 2023: Dinner with a large group. The food was fantastic and the service was just as good. Finally we were able to make it happen and visited our friend Marco for a long time. For the entrée I had Pia's beef tartare with tête de moine and parsnip wedges, main course: beef suure mocke with red wine - sour cream sauce, sweet potato puree and parsley roots. And as always with Marco, simply sensational. Sat on the terrace, small, nice, cozy. PP available. Reservation is an advantage. We are already looking forward to autumn and its Metzgatä. A very pleasant surprise to find such delicious high-quality Swiss food and super friendly service in this local restaurant. You can tell that the chef Marco has put in a lot of thoughts and efforts into each dish 🙏 And they use local produce where possible. Will definitely revisit whenever I pass by Zweisimmen 🤓

Great meal and great service at the brasserie. We passed on a Saturday evening in May 2022.

The food was so delicious. Atmosphere cozy and the staff very nice. I only took a photo of the desert, but the main course was great too. In the photo you can see Gruyère meringue with double cream and vanilla ice cream. Just a dream.

Table assignment...well! I needed a table for 4 to work alone.. 4 tables free.. but only wanted to give away the one table for 2.. he reluctantly agreed after what felt like 2 minutes. It's a shame...that's why ONLY 4 stars. Food top! 👍 Unfortunately no Spanish red wine...😉

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the ground floor. A wonderful salmon with salad and a super tender lamb fillet on risotto that really melted in your mouth. Every franc is well spent, we have already reserved for next time. Unfortunately, the second time we were taken to the almost empty upper floor, which is why we felt a bit like second-class guests. We couldn't believe that this happened due to Corona measures given that the ground floor was completely full. This time the entrecote was unfortunately fried beyond the desired point. Casual restaurant around the corner from Zweisimmen train station. For us this was an ideal break when coming from the Netherlands by train. The terrace is partly covered and has a nice view of a quiet village street. We were helped with a lot of humor and the food and local beer ("vitamin B" according to the waiter) were tasty. The kitchen starts at 6:00 PM, but for us they started working a little earlier, very hospitable. Recommended if this is on your route!

From the outside it looks much better than the dining experience. Friendly staff who also speak Italian. My husband and I ate two tartars but were both disappointed. The meat was not treated properly as it had various colours. The bill was very high for the quality of what we ate. We are not people who mind spending for good food, but this time we were really disappointed.
