Restaurant Bar Rathaus in Altstätten

One of our favorite restaurants. There is always an amuse-bouche and the food is always beautifully presented in beautiful plates or cups, etc. Simply a feast for the eyes. The home-baked bread is particularly great. Bravo!

We were served by a lady who was extremely friendly and humorous. Even when she learned that my mother is severely allergic and has many special needs, she remained very accommodating. In other restaurants, the employees often didn't even know what the allergies were, but with her we could ask anything.

Lunch 2x Valais Rösti and one fish and chips. Conclusion: Valais Rösti was only half warm, tasteless, bland, soggy and swimming in oil. Unworthy of a Swiss Rösti🤮🤮 Fish and Chips: Fish ok, fries dry (hard fried in the deep fryer, inedible, mayonnaise runny). After the complaint, fries were not charged. I can't understand how the kitchen can deliver such poor quality simple dishes in a half-empty restaurant, since the dishes chosen don't exactly demand the impossible from a chef. It's been a long time since I've had such a bad meal. The service was very friendly and quick and also apologized for the quality delivered.

Cool restaurant and sophisticated selection to suit many tastes. There wasn't much going on and the service took a while. Otherwise very satisfied eating there.

I was in a restaurant with friends yesterday. Food and service was great until a beer landed on my back and jacket. (which of course can happen and I didn't cause a problem)! We've all learned at some point 😉 I was told if I couldn't get the jacket clean, I should contact them. Then we'll take a look! After the mishap I thought that maybe they would offer me something! But nothing came from you. I found that very unfortunate. (except for a dry t-shirt!) But I didn't expect that they would offer me the whole evening! But a beer or a coffee? What a shame!

The two of us spontaneously went to this restaurant this evening. In our opinion, 3/4 of the service staff are not very competent, some don't even understand proper German and sometimes asked up to 3 times what we ordered. After our starter was cleared away, the young lady who took our food came after 15 minutes and asked us (as we were waiting for our main course) whether we wanted dessert and was very surprised that we were still supposed to get food. When we had finished eating, my companion went out and I waited another 15 minutes until someone cleared our plates and I could pay while the young lady walked past our table about 5 times and at some point there were two tables next to us sat down to fold napkins. When I expressed that I would like to pay, another lady lit the candle on our table and pointed out to me in a very rude manner that I should pay at the checkout. All in all, our visit there was not very recommendable, but we have to pay a big compliment to Elvira R., the apprentice's daughter in her first year of training. Along with everyone else, she served us very competently and ultimately made sure that we got our main course.

Super tasty food and dishes with appropriate side dishes, which is important to me. Beautifully decorated and clean. Good location, central with parking nearby. The staff is friendly and courteous. I felt very comfortable.

A very cozy atmosphere (outside and inside). Friendly staff. Centrally located in the beautiful town of Altstätten. Parking spaces available in the town hall underground car park. Always happy to come back.

We were at the restaurant at around 2:30 p.m. We were served by service person “Ramona”. My colleague ordered a Cola Zero and I ordered a Mojito with little sugar. My mojito arrived after over 20 minutes with the statement that I should see what it was like as she had never made one before. The mojito was bad (too little alcohol, not enough mint, basically lemonade), but what was really shockingly bad was that not a single question was asked about what it was like. We were basically treated like air, even when my friend's Coke had already been empty for 20 minutes. When paying, no one asked how it was or whether it fit. It's a shame, I'm very disappointed.

The restaurant is modern and tastefully decorated. The food varied and tasty. The staff is friendly, but sometimes a bit overwhelmed. Some orders were forgotten or not served correctly. Insider tip: the concerts that take place as part of the “Städtli-Stubete” are absolutely recommended!!

Appenzeller pan ordered, tasteless puree, like #rice pudding#, completely tasteless, soup-like consistency, back to the kitchen, plate comes back with #rice pudding#, boss (???) called, cheeky and rude, left the #rice pudding#, fully (!!!) charged, summary: 6 forks of #rice pudding# for 20,--

So my veggie burger was okay, but unfortunately my friend's bratwurst and hash browns weren't. The sauce tasted like it came from a packet, sorry, and the bratwurst was barely fried...

Mistakes happen - great response! Fast, personal and delicious! And that on a Friday evening :) Have fun and rock on!

Order: Burger wasn't prepared that well. Coleslaw was forgotten. Onions tasted too strongly of vinegar. Food there was always great. We were unlucky when it came to delivery.

A beautiful restaurant in a great spot in Altstätter's old town. I have been a regular guest with you for about 5 years. But over these 5 years the quality of the service and the food has also decreased massively. I remember friendly, motivated, considerate and warm staff. I remember delicious snacks and good food that was served promptly after the order was placed. Unfortunately, today I experience the town hall as being of a poor standard in terms of service and quality of the food. Fischschnusperli was still frozen inside when I was served it, tarte flambée with the wrong topping. In addition, there are sometimes waiting times in the restaurant and bar, which even for me, as a very patient person, take too long. Unfortunately, I can't sit for 15 minutes before the staff even notices me. Today was the highlight: arrival at the restaurant at 2.35 p.m., beer and thirst quencher ordered at 2.45 p.m., no drink received until October 3, even after asking the service twice! I then canceled the two drinks from the staff, saying that we had been waiting for two drinks for 25 minutes. Dear town hall team. If you want me to be a regular again, I would like less chaos and more attentive staff next time.

Nice cozy atmosphere! Attentive service, and the food is also tasty, although it takes some getting used to at first bite. My chicken burger was in a special breading. Pure, a bit strange in taste, but with the sauce, onions and co, it went really well! It's great that a chicken breast was used!!!! The bun on top was still white...not exactly pleasing to the eye, but it was airy. The Cordonbleu was a sensation!

My wife and I went out to eat on Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. because we were too tired to cook something ourselves. In the restaurant we were served very nicely and competently and the food was very fresh and perfectly prepared. Thank you for the lovely evening! The atmosphere is also very homely and pleasant!

Actually a nice place to look at, but yesterday's really went completely wrong. The food looked good, but the meat was raw and very tough. Even with a steak knife, the entrecôte could not be processed. There were very differently prepared pieces of meat. Our table (8 people) was probably unlucky. Only the gratin was good. But the whole thing was topped by a very arrogant waiter. When we asked after more than 20 minutes whether we had still received our coffee (the next table already had coffee and was even given more wine), he said he only had two hands. We received the coffee after 33 minutes. He said, on our well-intentioned advice to start with the service at the end, that we didn't have to explain to him how he should do his job. Are you crazy? There isn't much positive to say about the dessert, warm chocolate cake: either it was liquid or completely dry, mine was the latter. We weren't even asked for dessert if we would like another coffee. Dear town hall team, this was a planned event. It should be possible to deliver consistent quality. It was definitely the last time I was there and I can't recommend the restaurant.

The Restaurant Bar Rathaus has a great menu, there is good food and drinks for all tastes. Whether for a beer after work or a business lunch, the atmosphere in the Städtli invites you to linger.

Friendly person, lots of change was promptly changed for me and I was served quickly. One of the nicer places to grab a quick drink.

So I'll start; The service staff seemed unfriendly and stressed, even though a planned event was taking place. We waited 20 minutes for the Lillet, then we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for a coffee and a hot chocolate. It seemed like they still had to milk the cow. Since the band was so good, we decided to order another drink. Unfortunately, these drinks ended up on our clothes, which can happen. When paying the bill we expected that at least one drink would be waived. After all, we paid the entire amount silently. Today everything seemed to be going wrong... Greetings Maik

The place is good, with large windows where light comes in and decorated with modern taste. We ate several hamburgers and torte flambée, with the drink it cost about 35 per person. Regarding the treatment, a bittersweet feeling. Today we asked to sit on the terrace but the very dry waiter said that if we wanted to get wet it was fine but that he was not going to open an umbrella, although there were other customers outside at tables with umbrellas and they looked good. A shame, because it was raining very little and it was comfortable outside with the breeze. We had to go in, it was very hot inside, but at least the people who served us were friendlier.

I was in this restaurant with my girlfriend, I ordered a burger, the meat was extremely bad, the small salad that was beautifully presented was worse than the meat from the burger, my girlfriend ordered ravioli with mozzarella filling, it was extremely over salted, I will never eat here again

I wonder what a restaurant is open for on Sunday morning and only offers peaks...pretty sadly Swiss.

Courteous service and delicious food at good prices

Today I went for a coffee and wanted to get sugar at the counter. I ordered water and saw the employee pouring the water and put her fingers in the glass. RUDE. Then we discussed things and started insulting people. Staff very weak, rude and impolite. She then told the other guests what happened. Disgusting. OPERATION PURE DISASTER.

A bit chaotic at the beginning. Had reserved a table, there was no reserved table written on it. Fortunately, one is free at the moment. The service and the food afterwards were ok. There are 4 🌟 for that

We made reservations at half past seven and at 9 a.m. we still hadn't had any food. After about 1 1/2 hours, we were only asked once to reorder drinks. Update: the food was very good, and as an apology for the long wait we were offered a schnapps.

We were one of the first to order our food in the restaurant after the concert. The drink was soon served. After a long wait, two people received the tarte flambée and the white sausage they had ordered. Meanwhile, everyone at the other tables who ordered after us received their food. After our complaint, the third person received the sausage salad he ordered. After 1 1/2 hours we left without the three other people being served their ordered tarte flambée.
