The service is very friendly and also knows which wine goes best with the food. The food was very fine and beautifully prepared

The place is well located, it is near the boarding platform but on the quiet side, opposite the platform, the tables are well placed for sunbathing. Inside, there are plenty of tables and space. Sometimes there are dance evenings (Latin dances for example) Fried fish there is quite expensive. The desserts and raspberry liqueur are delicious. One star less for their Château Brillant, not that delicious. I eat it much better elsewhere (sorry). You can walk, cycle, go jogging or jog.

Today Chateaubriand at a special price of CHF38, incredibly good! I've been there several times and everything has always been very good. On a sunny weekend, however, things quickly become crowded and hectic, simply because of the good location. The ambience...um...practical.

We reserved a table online. This was according to our expectations. We were greeted very friendly, escorted to our table and soon after ordering the aperitif it was served. The starter, for me a Solothurn Wyysüpli, tasted good and was tasty. The main course (four times Chateaubriand) was served with French fries and 8 vegetables and a sauce. It was outstanding. The dessert was also delicious. Little fun fact: Some desserts were named after the ships on Lake Biel. We enjoyed a lovely evening, good service and good food. We'd love to come back.

This place is unusable, you wait in vain for 10 minutes to get something to drink even though there were almost no people (now I know why). Conclusion: Unusable, unfriendly service, better go somewhere else where you are welcome, never again in this hovel! 0 stars

Very rude waiter who yelled at us for waiting for a table. The restaurant did not seem particularly clean as well. Would not recommend.

On Sunday we reserved a table for two people at Joran. We also announced that we wanted to eat Chateaubriand. After the aperitif I asked the waiter if I could have a salad as a starter. He then said: "There is a large portion with lots of vegetables, you don't need another salad." This statement irritated me and I gave up the salad. We wanted half a liter of red wine with our meal and asked the waiter what selection was available. He said that they only had wines from Hämmerli, Ins. So we ordered this and the wine was also very good. We then saw on the bill that the wine cost CHF 37.50. A rather steep price for half a liter of red wine. At home we studied the Joran map online. Two other red wines from the region were listed there for under Fr. 30.00. The whole thing leaves us with a bad aftertaste.

Every year again, this time also a delicious Chateaubriand with 7 vegetables and fries, which were a bit doughy and not crispy for our standards. Ordering online at 18Ur worked perfectly, but the wait was a bit long until the food was served at 6:50 p.m. Beforehand, a fine aperitif in the chalet (Magnum from Hämmerli Ins), which was decanted for us and we were able to drink with our meal - great! Very nice service in the chalet and also friendly and attentive when eating. We're already looking forward to next Sunday for raclette in the chalet :-)

It is so bad that I wanna give you a 0 but that’s not possible so I give you a 1. First, the waiter wanted us to eat somewhere else. Promoted others place’s fondue. Why? After long discussions we sat on a table. We ordered beer, which was beer basically, no problem here. As a starter we had rösti which was also ok. Issbar. But for maindish, we ordered schnitzel and duck. All of them were raw and terrible. We wanted to send them back to cook more but they were rude about it claimed that they were ok. After convincing them, we had new plates, food were still raw but also with chef’s signature: hair. So please stay away.

Table reserved, staff have no idea. Question are you in the right place? After a long discussion and confirmation, we got one in a lousy location even though there were others available. Barely ordered an aperitif - food was already delivered - wrong wine brought - simply poured without tasting. When we ordered coffee from the young waiter we were stupidly "cleaned off". It's a shame, service used to be more competent.

Today we went to Chateaubriand with 9 adults and 1 child. The meat was brought to us in the 2 desired cooking levels. As always, it tasted excellent. The variety of vegetables was also delicious. The waiter made a great effort to respond to the various and individual requests. The 6 year old was also discussed. Everything went great, we had a lovely family evening. Thank you! We'd love to come back😃

Nice restaurant on Lake Biel right at the harbor. Nice operating staff with a lot of humor and quick service. Small menu on offer all day long. Good value for money.

Very disappointed there were 3 of us, the quality of the meat had changed a lot and we were not able to order a bottle of the lake which was only half. At 10 p.m. the staff put the chairs on the tables apart from ours and obviously we felt we had to leave…. No really we won't come anymore and won't advertise sorry but we've been coming for several years and it was too disappointing

The restaurant is beautifully located, right next to the boat jetties of the Bielersee shipping company. The location brings guests almost automatically when the weather is nice. This poses the risk that the quality of the food may suffer. In Joran this quality is OK. Good average. The extremely friendly service enhances the quality. More than worth a visit. We will be back.

We were guests at Joran on Saturday evening with 10 people. The menu is rather small but it has a balanced offering. We had starters and then the various daily hits as well as à la carte. We were all very positively surprised. Nice, efficient service and, above all, the food was very good. The local wines also suited us very well. We spent a very nice evening in a modern restaurant right on the harbor. We will definitely come back to Chateaubriand! Thanks Joran team.

The waitress Lena was arrogant, we waited 15 minutes before she came to us...

Sadly, the food is totally lacking any taste, love, creativity. Also the quantities are very small. And the price is average. The place is lovely but don't go for food. Just for a drink or ice cream. Mediocrity is so typical in Swiss restaurants but this is below average.

Last Friday 09.22.2023, We came to this restaurant because we have heard nothing but good things about it. We came with friends from Germany and Holland. We ordered 4x an iced coffee like on the dessert menu but received 4x a cup of coffee ice cream. We complained to the waitress, whose name is Lena, that what she served us was not what we ordered. Because we were expecting an iced coffee like on the menu. But she responded with annoyance and dryly confirmed that what she served us was indeed an iced coffee and that the image on the card was just a photo. We told him this was not normal. Why post a photo when what you receive doesn’t match? In other restaurants, iced coffee is served in a glass as in the photo. Joran should perhaps change the photo and put a real image of what we receive to avoid complaints and disappoint customers. Anyway, to avoid making a fuss, we remained polite and reluctantly kept the ice cream cups. We were very embarrassed towards our guests. And when we asked her to pay she didn't even give us a receipt to see if the amount was fair. Do you find this normal?? It's really a shame! We would like to have the opinion of the Joran manager.

I come from Germany. 5 days ago I was there with my siblings & my friends having snacks, drinking coffee, the waitress Lena was rude...we ordered 3 times Café glacee (in the picture man looks like iced coffee in Germany) as it says on the menu, but she brought us 3 glasses each with 3 scoops of ice cream....She served us with an arrogant attitude and voice and said that the picture on the menu was just a picture and had nothing to do with reality...🫢 a shame for the shop!!

Tarte flambée and wine quickly ordered. then waited a long time. both then came together. Unfortunately, the tarte flambée was just lukewarm, but crispy and very fine. regional wine very good. right at the harbor. very nice outside with the plants.

Caesar salad was a bit small, probably intended as a starter. The bread croutons were missing from my salad. Service was very friendly despite the "full" house, service was prompt, there were no waiting times.

Good morning, We had dinner with 4 people at the table, ordering 2 portions of fried perch fillet and 2 plates of chicken breasts. Concerning the perch fillets we received a portion with roughly 5 complete fillets for the price of 25.-, for my taste, 5.- the perch fillet is excessive! Fortunately we ordered a mini portion of fries for 5.50.-! For 30.50.- it is not normal to get up from the table and still be hungry! After complaining, they offered us a third portion of perch fillet…… But what’s the point! As for the breasts, the two chickens were not cooked, it can happen, but it’s a bit much! In summary, I don't recommend it and I won't go back there again!

We got to the venue at 9:30pm on Friday August 18th, bought a drinks menu and waited a full 45 minutes to order and there were only three tables of customers. After 10 minutes we waited for the coffee machine to be cleaned again 😀

The kitchen is quality for 9 people to eat, we appreciated it. On the other hand, the red wine was not great. Perhaps a mistake in our choice... The small problem was with payment. Impossible to pay separately and impossible to pay cash and by card combined. It's necessary to choose.

I wouldn't go here again. We waited 35 minutes for a sandwich (not at lunchtime but in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m.) and ordered ham but received salami. 5 slices of salami and about two 1.5 cm thick slices of bread.

We were at Rest Joran last night. Yves, who served us, was very accommodating and friendly. Since it was very warm, the ice in my Aperol Spritz quickly melted... the waiter (Yves) asked himself if he could bring me some more ice for the Aperol Spritz. I've never experienced anything so nice. We also experienced very positive interactions with each other in the team. I will definitely like to come back. Unfortunately, staff in such a positive mood is no longer a given. Thanks!!

The food was good. It's not very comfortable inside because there's a draft when all the windows are open. It's okay if you travel by public transport. If I had a car, I would choose another restaurant by the lake.

I had ordered a Solothurn white wine soup, and twice they tried to sell me a vegetable soup after I pointed out that it was probably not white wine soup. When the chef de service served the main course and I asked him about the incident, he just said that I should now enjoy the food he was serving. In the end the soup was taken back. At this point I would actually have expected an apology. For example, that they don't have the soup I wanted today. At least the main course was quite good.

Nice location at the lake and the food initially seems normally priced by Swiss standards. However while the food was quite good the portion sizes were really disappointing. The Flammkuchen was ok, but the soups and Fischchörbli are really overpriced given the amount of food. Service was also not great.

First we made reservations for 5 people. It was only reserved for 4 people. One person came later and couldn't order a drink. Then she picked up the food. Ordering food was very complicated for the waitress; she didn't know the system, despite the service manager's name on the label. Long wait until someone came from service again. For dessert, two spoons instead of a spoon and fork. The bill wasn't easy either, you had to pay for everything and couldn't share. First selected the wrong table, wanted to pay and just had to enter the PIN. Only then did she realize it was the wrong table. Then the payment process had to be tried again and had to wait for the receipt after paying. The respective price lists were therefore only visible after payment.

What did the thick paste of the “perch fillets” hide? It didn't taste like perch, but for the price, it was perch 🤣.

We lost 45 minutes for anyone to serve us. The waiter snubbed us until the end. Doesn't even deserve one star. So we changed restaurants, 200 meters further to the strampu restaurant, great welcome, restaurant with raised terrace, I advise you to go 200 meters further.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed to eat Chateaubriand there on May 19, 2023. The nice waiter told us at the table that there was no more. Although it is offered online for the price of 36.-. Very bad reception. We sat at a table on the terrace, in the sun on the lake side. It was 2:30 p.m., the weather was rather nice. A waitress told us that the terrace on that side was closed (even though there was no indication of this anywhere and other customers were already seated in the same place) and that we had to go from the other side. We said there was no room. We were told we could stay. While we were waiting for our coffees, another person (possibly the manager) told us that we cannot stay there that one side of the terrace was closed that we had to go to the other side, we repeated that he there was no room. Unable to stay, she forced us to move and other customers were still seated on this side and were not evicted. We were about to leave the place as our coffees arrived. The first waitress still served us on a table on the “closed” terrace side. We were very disappointed with this welcome, in a place which is nevertheless well located and other arriving customers were entitled to the same treatment. It's a shame to lose customers due to this very poor reception while the bar-restaurants experienced very hard times during the pandemic. We were hungry and also wanted to have dinner but given this bad experience we drank our coffee and left and we will not come back.

A fine Chateaubriand meal. Meat perfectly presented. Rich selection of vegetables. Fries good too. Service is always there, friendly and attentive. Despite being quite busy.

We made reservations for a Chateau Briand, but we weren't 100% convinced. The Bernaise sauce was cold. The pieces of meat weren't necessarily "nice". There were a lot of “cuts or leftover pieces”. For the price OK The starters of pumpkin soup and nut salad were very tasty. I wasn't particularly impressed with the apple strudel desserts. The service specialist was very courteous and helpful. The location is very friendly, bright and inviting.

We ate a plate of charcuterie. Bacon, sausage and cheese were exceptionally good.

We really enjoyed the Chateaubriand. However, you can't get the same thing for the price of 36.- Expect service like in another restaurant where that Chateaubriand is a lot more expensive. The wine 🍷, a Pinot Noir / Malbec from Nick Bösiger We were very surprised and enjoyed it extremely well.

The location is great, the drinks were cool, which is great with cola and iced tea. However, the lady who was responsible for the terrace during service completely ignored our table. We could speak to her, wave to her or look at her as we wanted, but we were indifferent to her. Only when the table next to us told her while paying that we had been looking for her attention for a long time did she turn to us. Unfortunately we didn't feel like staying anymore and just asked for the bill. A pity.

Despite a busy terrace which continues to fill up on a magnificent sunny afternoon, no waiter in sight. After at least 15 minutes of waiting, a waiter shows up, his arms crossed behind his back and giving more the feeling of taking his legs than of wanting to do what he signed a contract for. He takes the order for a table and brings the drinks, without serving the glasses (e.g. wine). Finally, he will take my order (1 soda)...10 minutes later, still no drinks.....disappointing to see such inefficient staff. But let's not complain that the industry is doing badly. Take care of your work and you will be rewarded!! Bad experience

It was an overcast day but my visit was memorable and delightful.

In my opinion, the boss seems rushed and overwhelmed. In addition, applicants are treated very questionably here. I heard the same story from two people independently of each other. They were given a confirmation of the job, the employment contract was delayed for several days and excuses were given for the postponement of the appointments and then, quite unexpectedly, a rejection was given. Questionable behavior. I will no longer visit this restaurant purely on principle.

Very nice staff and the food was good

Here you can eat the best Gordon Blue ever, I am a Gordon Blue lover and I have tried it in different restaurants in Europe and this was simply the best!!! What makes it special is the way it is made (fried in butter) and how it is served with blueberry jam. The Italian waiter knew how to recommend food and drinks, very attentive. I'll be back soon with a group of friends because my birthday is coming up and they definitely have to try the famous Gordon Blue.

Food not complete (no bread even though it was advertised), water was tap water (5.50 CHF), service inattentive, overwhelmed and not very friendly. We also couldn't pay by card because the booking was incorrect. It was also unclear whether the fries were part of the meal; these were also counted separately. It's unfortunate given such a beautiful location on the lake. Addendum to your answer: there was nothing about fries on the small afternoon menu, only bread. Our criticism was noted and we also wanted to see the receipt.

Very quick and friendly service! 😁 Menu adapted to the lake environment and the season. Holiday mood arises, service on the huge terrace is well coordinated - regular chilling in the evenings or on weekends means the summer never ends - great team 👍

Wonderful atmosphere, great location, very friendly staff and an extremely committed and courteous restaurant manager who always wants to make all his guests happy. Definitely a must if you are in Biel and the surrounding area.
