The waitress was like I had never seen such a dishonest waitress who stole six francs from us. If you don't have sixty francs per person to eat then don't come in and I would even tell you... Slightly homophobic; this is felt in the atmosphere. There is also the bistro side or the dining room; two sides where you will be seated according to your face, compared to the prices on the menu, look at the back of the restaurant at all this mess; this piled up waste that friends of ours saw from their building: dishonest traders; frankly totally outrageous prices.

We booked for a lunch for 3 people with the PG. Impeccable and fast service. The starters were very good, the meat was delicious, cooked in the fireplace in the room 👌🏻 Nice wine list, to try if you pass by here

La Cheminée is, in my opinion, okay compared to the other options in La Chau’s-de-Fonds. For the price, it is a bit pricier but without additional merit. The Food: Cassolette de champignons was an excellent start - creamy and filled with umami, however I thought the bread it was paired with lacked structure, considering the bread they serve with the meal is absolutely divine. Assiette de barbecue was a good way of trying what they have to offer - my favorite was the veal liver. My critique would be the sides - I asked for only vegetables and I felt like there could have been more; my colleagues that had vegetables and pomme frites had substantially more. It would have been nice to have been offered roasted potatoes instead of fried - even more so considering the giant fire pit to cook the meat; imagine potatoes cooking in the meat juices! The dessert was a disappointment - crème brûlée. The custard was a disaster - an eggy texture and an eggy taste. The burnt sugar on the top was barely there - usually when you hit your spoon on the top you should hear a nice crack. This one was more of a whimper and I couldn’t taste the burnt/caramelized sugar. The Service: Friendly but at times inattentive - not the best I’ve had and not the worst. The Atmosphere: There is some charm to the large stone structure and the massive pit where they cook the meat. Our room was private and almost too cozy - a slightly narrower table would be better for the space. Would I come back, sure, if someone invited.

I find it really unfortunate that a restaurant like that serves Argentinian and Brazilian beef and horse and states on the menu that the meat could contain antibiotics and hormones when it is still easy to serve quality meat in our regions. Very very slow service and unpleasant waitress. Very expensive for the quality. We won't come back

Horribly slow service... with almost an hour and a half of waiting between each dish. High prices for non-existent presentation, with the exception of the dessert which was very well presented. Otherwise, the quality of the meal was good.

Too expensive, starter was relatively reasonable in price but not looking as it should nor fresh. The main overly expensive counting where we are. Meat had a good taste from the grill however not aged so not worth the price. Bad sides. Location is nice but needs a proper polish up on food quality and servics

Excellent meal and very good service. Meat and vegetables cooked over a wood fire are delicious. The foie gras starter and duck breast salad were also very good.

Placed on the first floor because of the gourmet passport which in my eyes is segregationist, we were around twenty people all with gourmet passports. Unbelievable waiting time. Between the first and second course 40 minutes, between the main course and dessert 35 minutes! And then everything was cold! Never again! We really took people for fools and had to pay a high price.

Good grilled meat but small quantity for 55 CHF. Beautiful environment in an old peasant house, with a large fireplace for cooking the grill. Excellent wine. High prices.

Fantastic Tomahawk and very friendly service

Honestly, I'm more than disappointed with the last few times I've been there, given the price, you expect to have what you order on the menu, but to have a substitute, without having been informed, with a service which leaves something to be desired due to the wait, and the way in which we are answered, implied: "We don't care what you say". It's unfortunate, especially given the reputation of the restaurant.

My husband and I went there on 28.10.3023!! And I already posted a comment but it's no longer there... We arrived around 7:35 p.m. and waited until 8:00 p.m. only to be noticed almost 10 minutes later by customers who arrived after us, the staff told us to wait for the card because they didn't have any left. !! So around 8:15 p.m. finally the menu and 5 minutes after the order was made, at 9:15 p.m. still nothing to eat... we told the person who was serving that if by 9:30 p.m. we hadn't had our meal we would leave... it arrived at 9:35 p.m. with apologies…. She was the only one doing the service!! A young man was with her but only served drinks... because he didn't understand French well!! The restaurant was full and the poor waitress did what she could... I didn't eat anything because it was very late and this wait took away my appetite... it was a very nice evening... the manager's excuse. . we are missing staff we can't find any!! This is not an excuse, take less people and there you have it, doing a service with just one person is impossible.. we are never going back there again... word to the wise hello!!!!

A very good address to strengthen your immune system! Let me explain ; we received the Café de Paris sauce and butter about 10 minutes before our plates. Which in itself is not bad because it gives the butter time to soften because it was so hard. In the meantime, I dipped my fingers several times in the wild garlic sauce (we're still looking for wild garlic). The waitress came to take everything back from us, saying that it was not the right table and she gave it two tables away. When I inform her that I have already tasted the sauce and that hygiene rules do not allow this gesture she says “oops. Well too bad.” We then waited 25 minutes for the dessert menu (which we are still waiting for). When we asked for the menu the waitress was outraged and called the kitchen to make them for us (even though we hadn't ordered yet). The gourmet coffee is almost imposed on us (which we accepted since it was already in preparation). When we point this out the waitress repeats in an unpleasant tone “it’s not my fault, it’s the kitchen! » However, it’s not the kitchen that forgot to bring us the cards. In total, 2.5 hours for a simple meal. The meat is good with a good smoking taste and well cooked, but remains extremely expensive even with a gourmet passport. Our piece of beef was small, less than 150g. Simple vegetables, without seasoning. Very disappointing dessert, nothing fresh.

The restaurant to eat authentic hunting is better to reserve

Very good restaurant for hunting (saddle), in any case in terms of meat and cooking over a wood fire which brings a nice touch of inimitable taste! On the other hand, the accompaniments such as the spätzlis do not seem to be homemade and the grand veneur sauce does not, in my opinion, have a sufficiently "assertive" taste. In any case at 75.-/person for a saddle of deer in La Chaux-de-Fonds, I think it must be exemplary. The setting is cozy and warm.

Approximate and unwelcoming service. Cold meat, exorbitant price CHF 240.- for a 1.2kg tomahawk.

Unmissable restaurant in La Tchaux

Good meat (that's the only thing), the sauces and garnishes seem industrial... Welcome and service unbecoming of a restaurant. 1h30 wait for a piece of meat grilled on a wood grill for a midday meal and the room is far from full, you don't have to be in a hurry. Prices are way too high for the customer experience...

Excellent for a romantic dinner with family and/or friends. The food 10/10 The girl who helped us was super friendly. The prices are high but acceptable for the quality they have. I would go again without a doubt.

La Cheminee served one of the best steak I've ever had in Switzerland. The restaurant has a very rustic ambience with the woodfired chimney being centrepiece. We started with some fresh salad and had a platter of beef, roasted vegetables and potatoes as main. The steak was barbecued on a wood fired special chimney. It gives the steak that succulent smoky flavour. The sauce accompanied it was mouth watering. I believe we had a mushroom sauce. For dessert I had a chocolate lava cake which is always a favorite. Service was beyond excellent. The staff are just so welcoming and friendly. They even offered to take photos of us which is really kind. I would not hesitate to drop by again if I'm in the area.

This restaurant is an atypical place in our area, the atmosphere is pleasant, warm and friendly. We are welcomed with sympathy and the staff are smiling and competent. The menu is complete and diversified, so the choice remains difficult to find your ideal one. The reputation of the excellence of the dishes of this culinary paradise has been made for ages. She joins her colleague in the middle of the room to talk to him about it. The colleague in question responds loudly: You must say that for the sauce it is 8chf MORE (what class...) even though this information is clearly specified on the menu... - We were told that there were only "adult" dishes for children and therefore we had them kept. All this so that in the end, we hear the waitress say to a table which included a child: If you want we have fries and nuggets... - As the evening progressed, they adopted an increasingly cold attitude towards us for no reason. Conclusion: The service was negative. Even with a gourmet passport, the price remains high. We would have had a better time at the local kebab shop or at McDonald's for the same price... too bad We will not return there in the near future.

Excellent wood-fired meat (fortunately) but pitiful service where the waitresses constantly spoke to each other in a language that was clearly not French while staring at the room. They were as nice as a barn door... (it probably goes with the frame). Overpriced for the quality. It's no longer the fireplace before COVID...

If in the past I gave this establishment 5 stars, I am unfortunately obliged to change it. The quality and taste of the meats cooked in the fireplace is and remains the only positive and indisputable point of this establishment. The desserts, frozen, tasteless. The starters, I seriously doubt the quality of the products offered. Avoid. The service at the table, bad, mechanical welcome and without quality. Unfortunately the waitresses have no business sense, and are certainly not aware of certain basic rules of customer service, and certain rules of good manners as well. It's a shame because in the several years that I have frequented this restaurant, I have never been so poorly served. For holders of the gourmet passport, think twice before using it, you will not be served in the same way depending on the room you are in. Covid has left negative traces, and La Cheminée is proof.

The fireplace restaurant is an excellent address for meat lovers... The piece of meat (beef, horse, foal, etc.) is presented before cooking, then cooked in the middle of the room on a grill (under the fireplace ). The portions are generous and the whole thing is very good. I highly recommend.

Very disappointed, we had the impression of disturbing our children. Or is it simply disturbing to end things more quickly? We hadn't chosen our dish so we asked to come back when we had read the menu, it wasn't for a minute that the waitress was there again. Well we took the first thing read... all or almost the same! Since we didn't have time to read the rest... My tartare, which was way too salty and had no other taste, was finished with difficulty by my husband so that it would not be thrown away. When we told the waitress about it, we should have talked to her about it first, which we understand, but no action was taken. was made on our bill despite our pronounced dissatisfaction. I'm leaving now hungry, we tip easy, not this time and we won't be back. When that's it, ladies and gentlemen, at least the little one's ice cream or the one and only coffee, a gesture to make people come back. You risk losing too many people.

I had reserved a table for 2 people on Friday morning for Saturday evening, we arrived on time and were told that everything was sold out.....apparently, they tried to call me but I was like by chance received no call... we were not offered any solution.... it was my first and last time here and I can only advise against it. The person who welcomed us was extremely rude and very unprofessional. Too bad for them, another restaurant welcomed us and we ate really well and in the end, the tip was worthy....
