Restaurant le vivant in Bern

Very interesting restaurant. Special original good cuisine. Super modern atmosphere. Personal service. A must for Bernese who want to discover something special in an otherwise rather boring restaurant area!

Berne has a lot more to offer. The food is ok, but the service is lacking for the price you pay. Get ready to wait quite some time, oddly enough some guests get a lot more attention than others. Clearly understaffed which might be due to shortage of service personnel. For my taste the waiters lack attention, friendliness, positive attitude and overall enthusiasm, thus the experience wasn’t all that pleasant. Nice location, interior and lighting. The room seems to be well ventilated and there is always a ton of fresh air at your disposal. Prices of beverages are not transparent. After several visits I’ll focus on other restaurants for now.

Great food, top service and a large selection of natural wine!

It's been a long time since I had the pleasure of eating at a restaurant... simply great, incredible juices to eat and drink. Wine enthusiasts, don’t hesitate!

We had a great experience in le vivant. Relaxing atmosphere in the dim lit high ceiling room, with enough space left between the tables. The service was amazing, pir waiter tunes in immediately to our vibe and made excellent suggestions. The concept of starting with a few dishes and keep the meal going during the night was great. Very imaginative food with depth of flavor that did not distract from the excellent wine served. Highly recommended!

While traveling in Bern, we had the chance to discover this restaurant during a quiet evening. The service was excellent and very warm, we were entitled to many explanations concerning the cuisine and wines as well as the beautiful city of Bern. The cuisine is sophisticated, fine, tasty and very gourmet. Seasonal products are carefully chosen, as are the wines. In short, a great experience!

Everything perfect, I can only recommend it. Very honest, fine, even perfect cuisine. Good wine list and advice. A perfect evening!

Short and sweet - simply great!

One of the best restaurants in Bern. Incredible food, fantastic service with an excellent wine expertise and a wide selection of great wines.

The food was fine and everything was homemade, which of course increases the price. However, portions are small and sharing is recommended. In my opinion, the menu wasn't that special or varied. The dessert was fabulous and the homemade bread and herb butter were delicious.

Fantastic food, a real treat! Prepared with love, served attentively and all in a beautiful ambience. We recommend!

Looks like a Hochstapler trap. First, there's no kitchen and no chef. There's one guy parading in an open kitchen but he's not cooking. That's because most of the food is served straight from Denner/Alligro cans. Example: burrata piece, 2 artichokes and 3 sundried tomatoes from a can: ˜27 CHF. Few slices of dry beef that looks straight from Denner pack: ˜32CHF. They had some good tasting sauces, but again: 5 tiny potatoes in a sauce and some creme on top: ˜34 CHF. Nothing else, just 5 tiny potatoes in a portion. Wine choice per bottle is amazing, per glass very bad. Nothing for kids. Crowd: exactly what you'd expect. Sadly, I don't think there's hope for this place. They're neither in a "real food" category, and neither creative and staffed enough to break into a high gourmet class. But, they've found their business niche.

We (two couples who are friends) visit "Le vivant" on a cool, wintry Friday evening based on recommendations. The offering is small but interesting. We are very impressed with the cooking skills. The service is attentive, relaxed and competent. We are less convinced by the concept of sharing the meal. Sharing the food (served in the middle of the table) professionally and fairly is not easy. In addition, the plate is cold and is not changed (during the 3 courses ordered). The wait between courses is quite long, but understandable. The wine glasses weren't changed either, even though we ordered two different bottles of red wine. We also had the impression that the room temperature was uncomfortably cool. In any case, we kept our jackets on.

Very special concept. The preparation is great, very fine dishes. Service very attentive, wine selection huge. Definitely worth a visit.

Venue, food, wine and hosts were fantastic! Delicacies with such intense and individual spices that will delight every palate. Everything top quality! Thank you very much for the great evening.

Was here for the second time and the high expectations (from last time) were exceeded again. Everything was just right, especially the service and the relaxed operation. We felt comfortable and will definitely be back soon!

A real gem! Local, seasonal food, lots of amazing wines, by the glass and by the bottle and a beautifully designed space with attentive service and such attention to detail. You'd never suspect to stumble on a place like this in the area but I recommend booking a table for a special evening or if you want to go out of your comfort zone and try some new wines and flavours.

Beat & Yannick are wonderfull host with a deep passion for food and wine. We shared 6 corses. Every single corse was delicious 🤤 For wine lover’s, especially natural wine lovers the „walk-in“ wine card is a dream. Highly recommended. We will come for sire many times again.

Beautiful location with very good food, a nice selection of wines and competent service. We ordered the entire menu once and shared all the dishes, it was great, we'll be back!

A little out of the ordinary, it can happen that “Le Vivant” is not on your radar. The short bus ride to Holligen station is nothing compared to what “Le Vivant” has to offer. The food: a dream! The ambience is urban yet cozy and the service is top - after a few visits you know the guests by name and know what wine preferences the guest has. Speaking of wine: A very good selection of unusual wines and a wealth of knowledge that is happy to be passed on. The concept: you order the courses to share one after the other, depending on what you feel like. In summary: One of my favorite restaurants in Bern (if not my favorite) and an absolute recommendation for foodies!

Fantastically beautiful restaurant in a cozy location. Correct service, but there is still some room for improvement when it comes to charm.

“Shared plates” is the concept. The selection was great. There is as much water as you want. The wine loss is noticeable and there is a surprise in the digestives. The restaurant is a bit hidden. It's worth a visit.

Very inviting and cozy atmosphere, warm hospitality paired with convincing competence. The food is excellent, a culinary journey of discovery, and the “wine list” is simply a visual delight.

We have been able to enjoy their hospitality several times. The friendliness with which we are welcomed every time, the quality of the cuisine and the selection of natural wines are simply perfect. What's definitely worth it is to eat your way through the menu. Every time there were new creations to discover. We will definitely make our way to Bern again to have a great evening.

Le vivant is a real pearl in Bern. Well hidden, the two owners have created a very great concept that is second to none. The food is excellent and the “wine list” is simply an experience. The latter also allows you to cool down a bit during the hot summer days. Lovely again!
