An excellent hotel with great and friendly service and amazing view of the mountains! From our balcony we would be mesmerized at the mountain view with the Harder Kulm over tea! It is at a great location - across from Steiningers cafe and a couple minutes from the Coop grocery store! There were awesome restaurants nearby as well! Our favorite was the Gelateria Crepino. If we ever visit Interlaken again, we'll definitely want to stay at Sonne!

when: april 4-6, 2023 (2 nights) what: 3 beds in a room and some have some space to open luggage. the washroom was pretty small (majority of europe hotel washroom has been small). checked in, had to pay the VAT fee and we each got a guest card for free buses and some discounted activities. There was a kettle in the hallway for each floor for hot water, then some coffee, tea, chocolate and biscuit. No key card to room becuz its automatic switch on phone. we didn't need adapter for this hotel, they also had usb outlet. price: 502 CAD. then at check in paid 21 CHF.

Its a nice old property, rooms were bigger. Simple and basic decor. Bed was comfortable. Reception and staff was excellent. Tea and coffee options were available all the time at common area. Too pricey for facilities and location. Good thing is they have a bus stop right next to it.

Wonderful stay as the hotel is located just next to bus station and very near to Interlaken West Station. The building is 200 years old which itself is a unique building and the facilities are just amazing. The hotel owners Mr Dawal and Mr Chirag were so helpful as they helped alot for re-scheduling my dates even at very busy days when the occupancy was full. I will highly recommend Hotel Sonne and will stay their again once I visit Interlaken.

Excellent hotel, rooms are clean, tea and coffee are available around the clock, staff are very helpful and polite, location is excellent and close to services, I highly recommend it.

Had a fabulous stay at the hotel, comfortable rooms with nice views of the mountains. Breakfast was nice and dinner was just amazing.

The ambience, location, hospitality, cleanliness , food all were just perfect. Though we could only stay for a night but would definitely love to go back again. Would highly recommend this property.

We wanted to take a break from the mundaneness of the 'Work-from-Home' life. With teenage kids at home struggling to occupy themselves with something constructive during their Fasnacht break, it was important that we broke the monotony and did something to rejuvenate ourselves for the grind ahead. This is when we decided to take a short trip down to Interlaken, the city of lakes and mountains. Although Interlaken is day trip from Basel, we decided to spend a couple of nights at the Hotel Sonne, a family-run hotel with gorgeous views of the alpine glory including Kleine Scheidegg, Schynige Platte et al. The hotel is situated on the main road (Hauptstrasse) of an idyllic Swiss town called Matten. Both Interlaken Ost & West train stations and the town center are easily accessible by foot. All basic amenities including public transport, bakery, ATM, super markets etc., are located in close proximity to the hotel. The hotel structure exudes an old world charm which is in stark contrast to its fully renovated and modern interiors. The rooms are small but clean & cozy and offer splendid views of the snowclad peaks in the vicinity. The bathroom however is too small for one's comfort. I was quite impressed with the mobile app for opening room doors which eliminates the use of door keys. Every floor is equipped with a 'Coffee Corner' where guests could rustle up a quick cuppa. The hotel staff are extremely hospitable, pleasant and going the extra mile to help. A special mention to the family who are exceptionally accommodating to guests' request/ demands. This is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway in Interlaken. I would most certainly recommend this hotel to everybody. It's a true example of excellent hospitality. Thank you again Hotel Sonne for making our weekend memorable!

The rooms of the hotel were large & extremely comfortable. Considering Covid-19 situation, all protocols were perfectly followed. The highlight was hot breakfast with different options in the morning. Plus, the staff were very helpful & few of their advices especially on where to visit + how to save few bucks on different winter attractions was icing on the cake. Overall, I will recommend this to everyone visiting Interlaken & it's surroundings.
