The Widder is an appealing old-style restaurant in one of the impressive historic patrician downtown houses. The food is classic Italian, generous portions with lots of olive oil and butter. Our dishes unfortunately lacked delicacy: Burrata salad was boring, ravioli with sage were drowned in butter, pasta with wild boar was not good. Looking at the high prices even for Switzerland we can’t recommend this place.

Good and professional restaurant. The service is very good and pretty quick. It's worth making a reservation as the restaurant is fairly central and small. Lunch menu is recommended, fish dishes are very tasty. In terms of price, alcohol can get pretty expensive pretty quickly.

Food very nice, service not, grumpy garcon who forget to bring us wines for the main dish, did not even apologise and thrown the bill on the table instead of given it to us. We also got no goodbye as we left.

Let me start by saying that I am from the sector and I am in this beautiful city on business, I ate this evening in this Italian restaurant and I must say that the cuisine is very good and impressive.... it feels like being in Italy..... we have the journey began with an idyllic octopus carpaccio, continuing with a linguine with red mazara prawns well presented and of excellent taste, the sea bream for 2 people was exquisite, as regards the service Mr Salvatore was kind and professional unique, even the young lady who helped the director was super helpful and very kind.... really good. Mr. .JEFF....

Food is mediocre, service is catastrophic, no attention, no passion. Unfortunately the waiter was overwhelmed with every request. When you leave the place you simply ignore it. I'm used to something different in Zug.

Underwhelmed by the food, unfortunately. Maybe my expectations were too high because of the very good reviews. Gazpacho was ok, pasta with asparagus was ok but nothing special, and tiramisu was actually not so good - the consistency of the mascarpone mass was quite solid and heavy. A pity! Especially that the prices are not cheap.

Price performance poor. First the good: The food is good. Price performance but miserable. The service was very affected pseudo Italian. Nobody behaves like that in Italy. About the price: We paid 29 fr for 6 small tortellini which, it should be noted, was declared under “pasta” and not under starters. After we didn't order an appetizer the service became very frosty. After we wanted to give feedback, the cellar said rather abruptly that the pasta was homemade. He would have asked if we didn't want an appetizer. The chef de restaurant responded very well and offered us dessert. Unfortunately, the discussion with the waiter in the basement spoiled the mood and we gratefully declined. We weren't interested in the price, which would have been ok for a normal portion. Or the portion size should have been declared as an appetizer. But the arrogant waiter was the main culprit. My review: Ambiance inside: 2* (alpine hut style) Service waiter: 2* Chef de Restaurant: 5* Food: 4* Price performance: 2* Over all experience: 1*

I've been to Aries a few times, but this time I was disappointed. The food was very good, entrecote was on point, service was also ok.... But: When I come at 7 p.m. and the waiter first lists what happened with the main courses (four in number), I think that's a shame...

Always great food and great service

Excellent food, from starters to homemade pasta to meats… all very fresh. I don't know what not to praise! I highly recommend it. For me, the best in Zug. Good guys!

My new or rediscovered highlight in Zug. The best Italian in the area! The food is fantastic and the service is friendly and accommodating. High-level without pandering. Here you can extend your Italian vacation or take a short trip.

We ordered burrata salad, seabass, lobster pasta and white sauce pasta Burrata 9.5/10 Seabass 9.5/10 Lobster pasta 8.5/10 White sauce pasta 7/10 Service was good but very slow.

Amazing restaurant with great, authentic Italian food! I have been there countless times and it is a great place to eat with friends or organize a dinner party, the owners and staff are also very accomodating!

It comes to be a well-known place to have dinner, the family runed Restaurant mainly Italian dishes is in did a place to go when you spend the day in Zug. Excellent and attentive service, excellent food and ambience. Definitively a place to repeat.

Ambiente und Service sind gut, die Preise im oberen Bereich... das Thuna tartare war mehr oder weniger geschmacklos und die Gnocchi mit Rinderfilet war jetzt geschmacklich ok, jedoch optisch alles andere als einladend... Für die gelieferte Qualität ist der Preis zu hoch... War enttäuscht und werde sicher in Zukunft andere Restaurants bevorzugen.....

Echte italienische Kuche mit selbstgemachter Pasta und passendem Ambiente

Sehr feine italienische Küche.Die Gerichte waren sehr schön angerichtet. Auch wenn das Restaurant voll besetzt war haben wir nicht lange gewartet. Unser Kellner war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich... Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Vom Geschmack ist hier alles ein Hochgenuss. Die Mengen sind in einer guten und sättigende Liga.Promter und höflicher Dienst. Ich finde, dass das ganze Personal dort einen sehr guten Job gemacht hat.Ich war schon lange nicht mehr so beeindruckt von einem Restaurant.Wir finden das Restaurant zeitgemäß für allerlei Anlässen egal ob mit Mann, Bekannten oder Sippe ; ).

Das Essen ist hervorragend und der Service sehr zuvorkommend! Angela ist die perfekte Ergänzung zum italienischen Flair dieses ausgezeichneten Restaurants!

We ended up here by pure luck... walked around looking for a restaurant that had a nice menu and wine list. Was a wonderful surprise.... the food was devine, the service was great, and the wine was perfection. 100% recommended.

Wir haben sehr gut gegessen und die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Die Fleisch- Tortelli wie auch der Wolfsbarsch sind zu empfehlen! Meine Frage: Was sollen alle diese leeren Weinflaschen? Ist das Deko?

Am Pfingstdienstag erlebten wir auf der Terrasse ein kleines kulinarisches Feuerwerk. Die Speisen schmeckten ausgezeichnet und wurden mit viel Liebe zum Detail angerichtet. Dazu erfuhren wir einen zuvorkommenden und sehr aufmerksamen Service. Danke für den schönen Abend und das Spizzichini mit Amousebuche.

Wir wollten am Pfingstmontag im Widder einkehren und wurden nachdem wir an einem Tisch platz genommen haben weggeschickt mit der Begründung, dass gleich geschlossen wird. Was mich echauffierte war, dass sich andere Gäste ebenfalls erst hingesetzt haben und die Karte erhielten. Absolutes No Go.

Wir kamen zu sechst und haben uns für das 4-Gang Menu entschieden, die selbstgemachten Pasta waren das Highlight. Auch der Service war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Meiner Meinung nach mit Abstand die beste italienische Küche weit und breit.

Nach einem Schlittelplausch in Andermatt genossen wir hier ein ausgezeichnet mundendes Nachtessen mit fein abgestimmten Weiss- und Rotweinen und herzlicher Bewirtung.

Nicht nur das Beste italienische Essen sondern auch der Service und die Besitzer sind Spitzenklasse.

Wer eine Pizza essen möchte, der ist im Widder am falschen Ort, es gibt keine Pizzen im Widder. Einen Besuch ist das Ristorante Widder allemal wert, Italienische Küche auf hohem Niveau. Sehr freundliches Personal und damit die Wahl der Qual bei der Wein suche nicht ausufert…immer den Chef fragen er steht gerne mit feinen Weinempfehlungen zu Seite. Sehr gerne besuchen wir das Ristorante Widder wieder einmal.

If you ever go to Switzerland this is a MUST visit restaurant. The customer service is absolutely perfect, you will be treated with respect and they will always put a smile on your face. Italian classic in-between the Swiss mountains. Every penny spent there is well spent. Make sure you reserve a table in advance because this place is always booked full, the chance of getting a table by just walking in the door is zero. Highly recommended place.

A cosy restaurant in the old town of Zug. Friendly and welcoming staff and an excellent authentic italian cuisine. As soon as you sit down a welcoming glass of bubbles. The calfs liver is an excellent choice as well as the risotto! Great wine list too!

Das Essen war lecker und die Umgebung war ganz O.K. Der Besitzer ist freundlich sowie das Personal. Jedoch ist es sehr klein und eng. Würde persönlich jedoch nicht mehr hingehen. Zum Ausprobieren auf jeden fall mal wert.

Wir hatten einen schönen Tisch auf dem Platz. Es ist verkehrfrei und man hat ein schönes Panorama auf den See. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir hatten Vorspeise, Hauptgang und Dessert. Das Essen, vor allem die Steinpilze, waren ausgezeichnet gekocht. DIe Weinkarte ist sehr ausgewogen und man findet vor allem italienische Weine. Die Preise sind auch für Zug eher am oberen Rand. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

Zwar nur eine reduzierte Karte aber was aus der Küche geliefert wird ist nicht etwa reduziert. Das Thunfischtartar war frisch und wunderschön pikant gewürzt. Eine helle Freude und auch die Cordon bleus und die Pilz Teigwaren waren köstlich.

Wunderbar einfach. Die Kellner sind jedes Mal zutiefst nett und sehr zuvorkommend. Das macht mir und meinen Mann bei jedem Besuch rundweg viel Freude. Die Location ist spitze mühelos zu erreichen! Die gute Verkehrsanbindung macht einen Essenstrip fix machbar. Das Lokal hat wahrlich Potential mein neues Stammlokal zu werden. Ich für meinen Teil hätte mich am allerliebsten vor Hunger erst mal durchprobiert, aber dann wäre nop Platz für das gute Mahl mehr gewesen.

Wir waren heute Mittag da und haben uns bei der Wahl des Restaurants genau richtig entschieden. Schon bei der Restaurantsuche beim Karte betrachten wurden wir sehr herzlich Begrüsst und dies war auch der ausschlaggebende Punkt, wieso wir uns für dieses Restaurant entschieden haben. Der Service war durchgehend sehr zuvorkommend, liebevoll, angenehm und professionell. Alte Schule wird hier noch GROSS geschrieben. Das Essen war vorzüglich und sah auch lecker aus. Vitello Tonnato mal anders aber auch lecker. Das kleine Dessert zum Espresso war eine wundervolle Überraschung und hat den ganzen Aufenthalt schön abgerundet. Vielen Dank für den schönen Mittag. Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Restaurant mit gutem Essen und herzlichem Personal. Auf dem Bild die Stracciatella Suppe. Bouillon mit Ei.

Das kleine, aber gemütliche Hotel des Eigentümers ist einfach unglaublich. Bestes Italiano - Schweizer Küche und beste Rebe der Stadt. Der Besitzer ist immer im Restaurant und kümmert sich um alle Gäste. Das italienische Team arbeitet in der Küche. Die Lage ist auch perfekt - in Altshtadt. Meine besten Grüße an diesen Ort, ich suche jede Woche eine Chance, dort zu sein.

Widder ist zu meinem Lieblingsrestaurant in Zug geworden. Wenn Sie italienische Küche mögen, müssen Sie nur dorthin gehen. . . und so oft wie möglich. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und professionell. Das Essen ist einfach unglaublich. Diese Woche hatte ich ein Hurra mit Ananaschutney, das sooo gut war, dass ich es nicht einmal beschreiben kann. Und dann eine sehr einfache fleischgefüllte Tortoni mit Butter und Salbei, aber waren sie lecker.Wenn ich in Zug bin, ist dies ein „Pflichtbesuch“. Wenn Sie dorthin gehen, werden Sie es sicher auch sein

The amazingly cozy italian restaurant with insanely pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff. The real italian island in the center of Zug. As for the food it's dainty! I had a buratta cheese with ananas peperoni chutney as a starter. And amazing raviolli with lobster for the main course. Extremely delicious! But my heart still belongs to Kirsch widder dessert with white chocolate and mint jelley infusion! Unforgettable, really. If you prefer a high-quality food, this place is totally recommended! But better don't forget to book a table, because it's always full in the evening.

Widder sets a new level for restaurant quality. Hard to decide if it is the great personal service, the excellent food, or the wine list..... and maybe it is all that make this a unique experience. Highly recommended and ask for Carlo, the owner Chef who will make your experience memorable.

3 different starters, 5 main dishes everyone of them fantastic

Widder is a warm and cozy place to dine. The staff were super friendly and extremely tendful. They looked after us fine during our stay. As for the food, it was delicious and beautifully presented and cooked. We all ordered their home made pasta and their special entrée. The only pitty part was the noise which is normal for a popular restaurant and it was a festival night in Zug. All in all, I definitely recommend Widder to anyone who likes fine Italian cuisine.

In the old Restaurant Widder the athmosphere is still the same but the food changed for fantastic Italien food, not the average one.... Try it out yourself!
