Small restaurant located next to Chur train station. Specializing in Indian/Tamil cuisine. 12 of us went there for dinner. Apart from the fact that we waited a little over 30 minutes for the dishes because they are made to order, the rest was almost perfect! Their cuisine is tasty and generous! The copper dishes are absolutely beautiful too! Just a small negative point is the fact that the card is only available in Swiss-German. Which greatly complicates the situation for tourists like us. But also the fact that several dishes on the menu are not available either. Other than that, it was a very good discovery!

Great hosts, very kind. You feel very comfortable there. Food was great too. “Medium hot” was too hot for me.

Rarely eaten so well! Everything was perfect. The food was very nicely prepared and tasted really excellent. The atmosphere is calm, the service is very good and the prices are surprisingly cheap. The timing between courses was just right and there wasn't a second of rushing. I am completely convinced and definitely not the last time I've been there! :)

I would like to highlight the outstanding, extremely friendly service. You really noticed that the service staff goes above and beyond to fulfill all of the customers' wishes. Small example: There were three of us and we all wanted an appetizer. The waiter then pointed out to us that the portions were rather large and that he would recommend two starters. Hats off to this honesty!

We were very hungry and thought let's go to Yaal. Well where should I start. 1. Waited over 1 hour for food 2. Service couldn't take the order correctly, had to repeat it several times. 3. As mentioned several times, please bring the main course and starter at the same time. But no, she brought starters, I had to wait almost 20 minutes until the others got something. 4. My drink came after my meal. And charging so much for so little, or rather for small portions. And the best service had trouble calculating the change. I'll NEVER COME AGAIN.

I'll never come here again. We were here before others and they already got their food and we only got it after an hour. The conditions could also be better. We just wanted to go after dinner. She didn't even know how much change she should give us and had to help her.

I'm excited. I haven't eaten so well in a long time. I have to particularly emphasize the service, which was very nice, and the music which created a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant looks pleasant and the food is served beautifully presented.

We were in Chur for a night after taking the Bernina Express and decided to try Yaal on a whim (and because it was right next to our hotel and the train station). We were really impressed by the warm welcome that the owner and his staff gave us. They brought us complementary papaddams to snack on while we waited for our meal. We asked for just tap water and even that was delicious and presented in a beautiful copper jug. What struck me was the attention to detail and presentation of the food when it arrived. We had the lamb biriyani and the lamb puttu along with a side of chicken curry and parotthas for the kids. They were able to adjust spice levels to accommodate all our tastes and the flavors were authentic and well-balanced; absolutely delicious! We weren't expecting anything walking into a Tamil restaurant in the middle of the Swiss Alps, but this was an absolutely wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone traveling through / stopping in Chur. Thank you Yaal team for adding warmth and spice to our Swiss adventure!

The Yaal restaurant is easily accessible on foot in the city center of Chur. There is a very plentiful selection, even for children without Eastern preferences. The food is delicious and lovingly prepared. Highly Recommended!

Inexpensive buffet, very good Tamil food, friendly service, the only thing I didn't like was the industrial ambience, this could be quickly remedied with little money (cloth panels), perhaps as a suggestion. Conclusion: gladly again

My wife and I discovered Yaal on our one day stop over in Chur. Owner Kumar has done a wonderful job of creating an inviting and warm restaurant with high ceilings and decorative pieces that connect this little historic Swiss town in Graubunden canton to his homeland of Yaalpanam (Jaffna) in Sri Lanka’s northern tip. The name of the restaurant is synonymous with the indigenous harp called the Yaal, which gives Yaalpanam its name. Kumar’s welcome and the time he took to share his story with us was a lovely gesture. We learnt of his passion for bringing Tamil cuisine to Chur, present home to him and his family. The restaurant itself is just over a year old, so nascent in its history, however the warmth of his staff and quality of food augur well for a great future ahead. About the food itself, my wife and I ordered vegetarian meals - one Marakari (a mixed vegetable stew served with a side of rice) and a Rock with Roti (a close resemblance of Kadai Paneer, served with flaky rotis of the Tamil parotta variety). Both dishes were served decoratively to delight the senses, were hot and freshly made when they arrived and delicious. The servings were generous and we felt satiated after having travelled most of the day and having done a lot of walking around Chur. The masala tea to finish the meal was also well made and went down a treat. Thank you Kumar and team for doing a great job and I wish him and the restaurant all the success they deserve. Amongst our many travels, we will remember this experience fondly for a long time and hope to come back again one day.

Ordered for the first time yesterday - but definitely not for the last time! Was super tasty. Price performance also fits. Finally something new in Chur... (maybe you can find a more sustainable solution for the plastic bowls for the sauce)

Brilliant, super friendly and as far as I know the only drinkable chai tea in Chur. The lunch buffet is inexpensive and very good and varied. Absolute recommendation

Delicious delicious delicious!!! We had the lamb biryani and shrimp curry. The curry was very tasty and the biryani was amazing. The flavours were authentic and the service was very good. I would go back again and again!

Last week we went out to eat at Yaal for the first time; and it definitely won't be the last time! The lunch buffet is very rich and has a nice selection, there was something for everyone. The little one was even allowed to order something from the children's menu. The staff were very friendly and we felt very comfortable. The price-performance ratio is definitely right! The food was very tasty and you can order in 3 different levels of spiciness. I'm not used to spicy food and I don't like it either. Level 1 was great. I tried lamb and have zero regrets. Just fantastic. The food was beautifully prepared and the decor was very harmonious. The service was courteous and friendly. Since it was our first Thai meal, we took advice and followed the recommendations. It certainly wasn't our last visit to Yaal.

The quality is absolutely right. The service was attentive, patient and very friendly. I wish the Yaal team that they quickly become as well known as they deserve, I will definitely come back.
