Ristorante al Ponte in Thun

We waited easily 20 minutes until we had the tickets and could order. Simple pasta & bruschetta. After 40 minutes still no food. (Cola was also brought “normally” and not Zero, as requested) New guests were served first & we were given the main menu like this at the same time. We weren't asked if it tasted good, but others did. We weren't offered a dessert menu, but everyone else was We weren't offered a chocolate egg or limoncello, but all the other guests were. We've never felt so uncomfortable. They didn't smile at us, but everyone else did... The kitchen and the service team were also annoyed and argued quietly at the checkout, which completely spoiled the ambience. We had to ask twice if we could finally pay, threw the receipt down and ran away again. Only the food was really good. Never again!

Food was good, atmosphere was great, service was meh. If you come here for dinner expect good food, but also be ready for 2 hours from seating to bill. Most of the wait time was being served and not food preparation. Still, it was a good experience.

Catastrophe! Food came quickly but was bad. The risotto was swimming in broth. The pizza was dripping with grease, cheap mozzarella and gristle! The bruschetta beforehand was the only thing that was edible. Oh and the drink. The ambience would be nice - but with food like this it would be horrible!

The pizza was ok, the staff was not interested in the customer. The atmosphere - despite the cozy decor - is not pleasant due to the above-mentioned service and the music that does not match the place and fits more to a pub or disco.

My gluten-free spaghetti was very tasty. There was a lot lying around on the floor (empty sugar bags, paper, and a cardboard sign. It wasn't cleaned while we were eating, it was disgusting. Won't be coming back.

Very friendly service, we responded very nicely to an extra request and the food was really good. Plus an enjoyable wine list with fair prices. Fully occupied this Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. - that says a lot. A real tip in Thun.

It's a shame I didn't read the reviews before visiting the restaurant, I would have saved myself a lot of trouble. I ordered 5dl Montepulciano by the glass, price on the website (a wine list was not available from the service) CHF 22.60, the amount charged was CHF 39.50. Explanation from the managing director: she hasn't had time to adapt the website for 3 weeks, there is no longer any open beer, only bottle quality (which it certainly wasn't). The guest is completely ripped off and played for a fool. Service was bad, there were too many disinterested service people standing around who would rather chat loudly with each other than take care of the guests. It's a shame about the beautiful location, but the restaurant is to be avoided, a bad experience guaranteed.

It started when we made a reservation that wasn't registered. Afterwards we ordered three times, each time the waitress came back and said that they no longer had this dish. Pizza dough totally soft, similar to Lidl pizza dough, but worse. In any case, we'll go back to Primavera next time.

We found ourselves here by chance and it was a wonderful discovery. Welcoming location, clean and with attention to the smallest details. Good quality and varied cuisine. We ordered a plate of gnocchi and then the pizzas (delicious and for me their strong point). Impeccable service..We will be back. Strongly recommended!

Very disappointing last restaurant visit to Al Ponte. The food that ended up on my plate was not only burnt, but literally inedible and served carelessly. The service gave off an unfriendly atmosphere, even though the store wasn't even particularly full. The highlight was when I was laughed at along with other guests for my complaint for no apparent reason. The hostess simply brushed off my concerns and seriously claimed that this is how they cook in Italy. Ironically, my repeated refusal to eat cheese was ignored by the kitchen generously garnishing the burnt meal with it, as if that would solve the problem. In the past, the restaurant was known for quality and friendly staff - unfortunately not anymore. We had to return two menus and pay for the third out of pity. It is truly unfortunate that former excellence has given way to such a dismal state. Management should seriously consider how to restore the former class.

The service was bad, we had to wait 20 minutes for the drink we ordered, during our 2 hour stay we were never asked if anything was needed or we were ignored when we asked a question. The food was good and warm, nothing special. After repeated requests, we waited 20 minutes for the bill. Unfortunately this has been the case for the second time and I will no longer visit the restaurant or recommend it to others.

I ended up in this lovely restaurant last night. Pizza is lighter and delicious. The appetizer and the cuisine are absolutely to be tried. Always my pleasure.

Unfortunately I have no choice but to share my disappointing experience with this pizzeria. The delivery we expected was anything but what ultimately reached us. Not only was the food bad, but the service also proved to be an absolute disaster. The order was incorrectly delivered and when we brought this to the attention of the supplier he seemed uninterested and uninterested in resolving the issue. The staff's ignorance of customers' needs is truly unprecedented. To make matters worse, they promised us a discount as compensation. But surprise, surprise, the discount was never applied! It seems like their promises have as little value as their pizzas. It is frustrating when companies are unable to keep their promises. All in all, this was a disappointing experience and I will make sure I never order from this pizzeria again. There are numerous other restaurants that offer better food and more reliable service. Spend your money elsewhere and avoid this pizzeria at all costs!

Catastrophe from A - Z, Of 8 pizzas, 7 were served incorrectly! No other dish came at all... The service staff then promised us that they would cancel various ordered items on the invoice because so many mistakes had happened. When we paid and asked for the receipt, we saw that everything had still been charged. It's a shame what happened to this once good restaurant.

A pizzeria to forget The visit to the pizzeria was an absolute disaster that I would like to erase from my memory. The service was a complete disaster. The waiters seemed to have no interest in their work or in the guests. Our order was taken completely incorrectly. We also waited over an hour for 8 pizzas and 1 spaghetti carbonara. Surprise: out of 8 pizzas there was only 1 that we ordered and we never received the spaghetti carbonara. Politeness and customer focus seemed to be foreign words. Now about what they refer to as "pizza": the toppings were sparse and of poor quality. I can even recommend a ready-made pizza from Aldi or Lidl. In summary, I can only advise against entering this pizzeria unless you like oversalted and incorrectly ordered pizzas, unfriendly service and a generally dreary atmosphere. This pizzeria managed to shake my faith in Italian cuisine - a nightmare I won't soon forget.

A pizzeria run by amateurs!! Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Unfortunately, exactly one of the nine people at the table received the correctly ordered food. Unfortunately, one person received nothing at all... We were also given empty promises that some things would be taken off the bill, but this was not the case. Saturday, December 2nd evening around 7 p.m. visited spontaneously, the restaurant was well staffed, the staff was unfortunately understaffed, we waited a long time for service in a cold environment and atmosphere. The 4 of us ordered 2 x Spaghetti Bolognese, 1 x Spaghetti Carbonara, 1 x Lasagna, 1 x mixed salad, 1 x Fontanella salad. Unfortunately, the tree nuts declared on the menu are missing... my comment in this regard, after all, this green salad with a little pear and parmesan costs an impressive CHF 14.- was noted, but nothing more! The spaghetti served is neither price nor portion appropriate, rather dry and prepared without love. About the subsequent billing, we ordered 2 Coretto coffees in the cup (portion like a coffee créme) costing CHF 6.90 per coffee, the waiter charged my colleague CHF 3.45, the ordered 2x 50cl bottles of San Pellegriono mineral water were added to the bill as 1 x 50cl Bottle of Valser water declared :-) the wine originally ordered, 3 x 1 dl Barbera, was declared on the invoice as 3 x dl Chianti... what was really in the glass...? or ultimately in the cash register...? We don't have to worry! We were served a loveless meal in a cold atmosphere and a cold restaurant, without love or commitment. once..... I'd rather never again! Service at the absolute lowest level! It's a shame, but true :-( ö

Great location, comfortably furnished, maybe 2-3 fewer tables inside would be more. Pizza 5 stars 🌟, freshly prepared and tastes very tasty. The kitchen itself has a lot of room for improvement for the prices. Staff work too long at a time and therefore service unfortunately falls by the wayside. Appeal to the management of the restaurant, be sure to work on these points mentioned otherwise it will take its toll relatively quickly. Coming back for the pizza.

This restaurant is not good: the dishes are tasteless but greasy, the service is unwelcoming and slow and certain things were forgotten, we spent 2 hours waiting for our starters and our dishes. At the end of the meal I asked for a coffee which never arrived...

I asked for tap water and they brought me mineral water... bottles already opened. I asked to share a pizza with my wife but they suggested two small pizzas in stead... so misleading... it was two regular size pizzas which was too much food. The setting is very nice next to the water but clearly the man running the place wants a minimum purchase if you are to be seated. I highly do not recommend supporting this very misleading practice... just state there is a minimum. Plus the pizza was mediocre at best.

The Restaurant al Ponte in Thun Actually 4.5 stars the food was excellent I ate bruschetta and tagliatelle with spinach and prawns there and I really enjoyed it. I also found the ambience right on the Aare beautiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, we waited a bit long for the food, which is why we gave it 4.5 stars Thank you very much and keep it up 😀😀😀

3 people: 2 pizzas served quite quickly, Spaghetti vongole without vongole but with 5 tiny molds, arrived 45 minutes later. The waiter who takes the order says everything ok but doesn't understand anything (even in German, Italian, English) and so on. Really not great. Not recommended.

From the greeting to the farewell, everything was perfect. The food was very delicious, great wine and the service in this restaurant was simply top. Very friendly staff, high-quality service, something like this is very rare to find at this time. Recommended.

What an organized, professional staff. The restaurant was full on the terrace and inside but this waiter in the blue shirt was so relaxed and always personable and friendly. the food was so delicious. miss this place already.

I ordered tagliatelle with shrimps and so did my mother. The food came lukewarm to cold. The noodles had no sauce and the shrimps were bland. Extremely poor standard for 25 francs per plate, something like that is so disappointing and sometimes I just don't have the energy to give something back or something like that... just give my experience and definitely won't eat there again!!!

Beautiful location but a dysfunctional staff. The waiters were rude and the chef and the wait staff were clearly not on the same page they could be seen arguing over the orders. We waited for an hour for the most simple pizza. The pizza wasn’t cooked fully. It was a thoroughly horrible experience.

Lovely place with outdoor seating OUT OF THE SUN. We went for lunch with no reservation and got a table on the water. There was beautiful flowers and ducks that swam right up to us. For supper I would recommend a reservation as it was super busy everything we passed. We asked about splitting a pizza and they recommended each getting our own as it comes with a side salad and bread. Hindsight, it was way too much food but the pizza was excellent. Thin crust with a more doughy style crust. Price was comparable with the neighboring restaurants with much better seating.

Disastrous! To flee ! Two of us arrived around 8:30 p.m. hoping to eat pizza. Once the order has been placed, the waiter comes back and tells us that they no longer make pizza at this time (not even 9 p.m.). So we find ourselves in a pizzeria restaurant that no longer serves pizzas. What a pity ! So we have a dish of spaghetti and a dish of gnocchi. The quantities were really ridiculous, especially for the gnocchi. I should point out that the table of 4 at the back was served before us even though they had arrived after us! One of the waiters was already starting to collect the chair cushions, salt and pepper even though we hadn't finished eating. Once our table was cleared we were hoping for dessert, but no waiter came to see us for a long time despite the fact that they saw that we were waiting. A waiter ended up coming to ask us if we wanted anything else and when we asked for dessert, he told us that the kitchen was closed at that time (less than 10 p.m. and that desserts are never made at the last minute especially pana cota type desserts). So we asked for the bill, a stunned addition to the meal we had just had. When paying, we wanted to pay part in cash and part by card, which posed a problem since a minimum of 15CHF is required for payment by card. The waiter then turned on himself and the little kindness that remained was gone. I strongly advise against this “restaurant”.

Not very warm welcome. Ordered a carpaccio which arrived frozen on a plate. Reheated in the microwave after complaint. Total rubbish and above all a tourist trap. Expensive / quality and quantity not there. TO AVOID

We were lucky enough to have one of the quiet tables at the back right on the Aare. Service not very charming, rather dutiful. There are positive exceptions. The unexpected, spontaneous little things towards the guest were missing.

Bad experience! Service was absolutely horrible. Very unattentive, couldn't get the orders straight, didn't even listen to what exactly we tried to order. Admittedly, we were in a bigger group, but there wasn't even an attempt to get it right. Brought wrong dishes all over, half of what we ordered was either mistaken or missing completely. Resulted in half of the table having to wait for their food while the other half was eating. Also the menu on their website doesn't correspond with the actual paper menu, the worst thing being the prices which are cheaper online! Food was eatable but absolutely not worth the price, the only somewhat good thing is the decent pizzas. Will not visit again and definitely cannot recommend.

Got the wrong food but it was good anyways, I didn't mention it as it was very busy, I was alone and very hungry after a motor ride. The location does it for this place.

We ordered an appetizer and a pizza. Starter was delicious, after 1 hour the waiter came to tell us that the pizzeria can no longer make pizzas, then we waited another 15 minutes to pay for the starter.

Well, have been to this pizzeria a few times. The quality of the food has deteriorated somewhat over the last few months. Service... it really depends on who is serving you. There are waiters who are so unmotivated and not really sustainable, but also waitresses who try to fulfill the guest's wishes. In my opinion, there is a lack of organization and leadership in this company. The fact that the catering industry is struggling with staffing problems can be used as a small excuse; the management may then also have to rethink the number of seats in the restaurant, according to the motto, fewer guests, but catering to them well. It's a shame, I'm not sure if I'll give this place another chance. I hope the management gets the problems under control and al Ponte thrives again.

Such an unfriendly reception. Last year I was with our guests and wanted to have a spontaneous dinner there, but the waiter completely ignored us and when I asked where we could sit, he just mumbled something indistinct and ran away. We waited for a while, but he didn't come to us at the front door. Today I was over with my mother and it was almost the same story. There were already people on the terrace and we wanted to sit too, but the waiter ran up to us and quickly said that the terrace was closed. I agree with that, it looked like a storm was coming, but why the waiter didn't greet us and invite us in - I didn't understand that. Totally rude. I never try third time. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It's such a shame that this unpleasant restaurant is located in this beautiful restaurant.

When we were looking for a restaurant by the water, we got a seat here relatively quickly, even though the restaurant outside was full. We quickly got our starter, Bruscetta and Mozarella Bufala. You could immediately tell from Bruscetta that this is definitely not an Italian restaurant. The mozzarella was super small and the one from Lidel or Aldi even tastes worlds better. From that moment on and the prices on the menu, we were thinking the whole time that we should get up and leave before we get the main course. We waited more than an hour for this. During this time, the wrong dishes were always brought to our table that were for guests at our neighboring tables. As the evening progressed, the guests started talking to each other about how long they would be waiting and everyone who got their food looked pretty unhappy and said so loudly. For my friend and I it was really amusing at first because every 5 minutes some guest was complaining. But when we received our plates of pasta for almost 25 each, I wanted to cry. We were given a spoon each but no forks, we would get them straight away. After 5 minutes my friend got up himself to get them for us. We both took a few bites and then left the food. We went in and asked for the boss so as not to make a big fuss in front of the other guests. You didn't even know if it was there. We paid for the meal and the cellar came in behind us with the two full plates without saying anything, as if this was the most normal thing in the world. We got 2 takeaway pizza vouchers, unfortunately we live two hours away from Thun and can't do anything big with them. We were told today would be an exception, but I noticed that negative comments like this have been around for some time. That's why I would like to warn against this restaurant.

At first no attention was paid to it as we sat outside at the table as a family. Then no service outside because it wasn't uncovered. Be closed. But other people were sitting outside 1-2 meters next to us. Is this what hospitality looks like in Switzerland? You come home from vacation where friendliness, organization, hospitality are not just empty words and then you just shake your head... This restaurant probably doesn't need to serve guests.

The location is breathtaking. Right on the water. You immediately get a holiday feeling. However, for solo travelers it has a bad aftertaste. Individuals should sit on the street as the lovely tables are designed for four people, according to today's service. Disappointment level was 100% because I had already picked out this restaurant in advance and had been looking forward to it for hours. For me it was time to move on, luckily there are many great locations in Thun. To be fair, the food on other guests' plates looked great though. So certainly great for large groups, but rather a flop for solo travelers.

Wanted to make a reservation, no reservation possible at the moment! Then we saw on the tables outside that there was a sign saying reserved! Bought salad dressing at Coop! The main course we ordered was good! Unfortunately the owner has changed... Everything was better before! I think next time I'll look for another pizzeria...

Very nice place located directly on the Aare, invites you to stop by. The pizza was very tasty coming from the stone oven, the salami was definitely from Italy, something I've rarely seen. The service is very attentive even though it was pretty busy.

Pizza according to the partner was ok, but for 21.50 CHF, it was too expensive. Spaghetti Calabrese (with beef strips & peppers) - tasteless but edible. Service, well, everyone seemed pretty unmotivated. No smile. It was early in the evening, so it wasn't really busy yet, and the terrace outside was only half full and the empty tables were reserved. Ambience is only great if you get a table that is right by the water. Some of the tables are completely crooked, so that the plates and the food are also crooked. You could straighten the ground a little in the fall. But no one seems to be interested. If you try to change your behavior, you will be looked at even more grumpily. What's not possible is a table at the entrance. Right next to it, there are all the ashtrays on the windowsill. It doesn't work at all. You can leave something like that inside, not directly at the guests' table. The waiter became a little friendlier and more talkative when we wanted to pay. Definitely because of the tip. Only there wasn't one! We don't think it's natural to tip. You have to do something and make an effort and show interest. We recommend you look for something else in Thun. There are enough restaurants in the old town, but of course not so close to the water, but the food is better and if you're lucky, the staff is friendlier.

Pizzeria.... without pizza. The oven was not working. The quantity of pasta was really insufficient. The staff were really lovely, but there was a shortage of servers and this was reflected in the service.

Unfortunately the pizza oven was broken. I ordered carbonara...unfortunately the portion was very small, which I also reported. The answer was that I could have had a salad beforehand and so there would still be room for dessert. It would have been good if some more pasta had been served later.

Pleasant terrace along the river. Efficient service but not very friendly (not a hello, not a smile). The food is too fatty and leaves something to be desired in general (eg the scallopine sauce was gelatinous and sweet, the pasta was overcooked and swimming in butter).

Risotto with porcini mushrooms and pasta with scampi, both were well seasoned. Risotto and pasta like in Italy. Plus a bottle of wine from Puglia. Why should I go south? The staff was friendly and very attentive. The boss asked us if we liked cheese - to our surprise, a cheese dessert followed. Thank you very much!

At at a glance this restaurant looks authentic at the sweet bridge corner at the old town away from touristy spots, so we sat and give it a try. Horrible! We were there at 2 pm Friday afternoon, We don't know if the chef were not there at that time, but what supposed to be Italian foods tasted like a joke, really, the foodd here seemed like prepared by total amateurs. Minestrone soup is rather bland, nearly clear consisting ONLY few pieces of pasta, zucchini and capsicum and so lttle! Nearly at the bottom of the bowl. Tomato cream soup nothing special, salad taste like chopped leafs and tomato with olive oil, no herbs no other ingredients. And these are NOT cheap! In the end we feel rather upset and ran to Coop to buy pastries and snacks to satisfy our taste disappointment from this restaurant! If you wanted to eat here, we suggest you to go somewhere else!

Amazing views and the absolute best food we have had in Europe so far ( and we have been here 10 days and 3 countries so far,) Their cappachinos are up there with Vienna's best cafes. And they are polite to Americans which doesn't always happen in Switzerland.

Service disaster!! I never thought there was such a disastrous, arrogant and incompetent service non-force on this planet. In all of our travels at home and abroad, we have never experienced such an outrageous and downright business-denying attitude at work. A young and inexperienced service employee managed to scare us away from the restaurant before the main course through her extremely amateurish and very arrogant manner. When she explained to us based on our feedback that she wasn't interested in reviews and that she had no idea about marketing, we got up and left. A guest really doesn't have to put up with something like that. I would strongly recommend that the management of the company remove this lady from circulation as quickly as possible. And I wish those who read this review good luck in not meeting the lady in question.

After 15 minutes my meal still had not arrived but my wife had almost finished her meal, so I asked the waitress for a discount because the meal was so late. She told me that was not possible and so i asked her to cancel it. She went to see the manager who came back with the meal and said that there was no discount and that if I didn’t want the meal then i would have to pay for it. There were not even any apologies. After all this I couldn’t eat the meal because the veal was tough and overcooked. I will never return.
