Very good food, very friendly owner couple, beautiful view

Some of the most amazing food in the Locarno area. It’s game season so, the venison is something really special up here this time of year. The chef also makes superb pasta so, basically you can’t go wrong with the food. Worth a walk uphill any day!

This restaurant has amazing views, atmosphere and service. Sadly the food was only not bad. The presentation was lovely but the veal cannelloni were not tasty. The veal was pureed with potato and tasted metallic. The cannelloni were very, very al dente, so that it was like biting into moistened cardboard. The sauce odd and bland rather than interesting. My husband's pasta with mushrooms was better but just normal. The mixed salad was also nothing special. Pricing was typical Swiss and overvalued. I would not return except for drinks at sunset for the view.

We had a wonderful evening with a fantastic meat dish. The evening was also sweetened by the charismatic and charming Vito (with long hair). We will definitely come back

Fabulous place, cuisine from God. We ate an excellent rib eye recommended by the waiter, we weren't very convinced, but it was really persuasive, we were really happy with it. the waiter was really professional and friendly. I laughed all evening…. Highly recommend and will be back soon.

Unfortunately the food offering was limited that day. However, what we ate was very tasty.

Restaurant in magical location. Eye! The street to get to the restaurant is quite an adventure! It is narrow and you encounter cars and cyclists going down at high speed, but the view at the end is worth it. The food was all delicious, especially the cheese and gnochetti. I'm looking forward to trying the risotto because it promises a lot, next time it will be! The best service possible. Davide has attended us at all times in a professional but also friendly manner, which has made us feel very welcome. Value for money, a little spicy, but we are talking about all their products being from km 0 and homemade. The spectacular view! Highly recommended and you have to book in advance in summer.

We returned to Grotto Al Ritrovo for Easter lunch. The location of the restaurant enjoys a spectacular lake view! The staff is courteous, welcoming and competent, which is essential for people like me who have intolerance problems. The dishes were very carefully placed. We note the attention to high quality raw materials that make the dishes, expertly cooked, unique on the palate. Emotions in every bite. We thank the owners, chef Cristian and Meître Eloise for giving us an unforgettable lunch this time too. For us the best restaurant in Ticino! See you soon!

A nice surprise! The location alone is worth a visit. With the vision, the beautiful trees and the adventurous journey. The young owner couple maintains a hospitality that we greatly appreciate! Classic cuisine with a modern touch, rustic elegance, attentive, down-to-earth and warm. This is what high quality looks like to us. No frills but care in all areas. We wish you all the best in these difficult times for the catering industry and hope to be able to come back soon.

Restaurant in a beautiful location with a fantastic view. Dogs are welcome and are given fresh water right from the start. The service at the beginning was very polite and attentive. Unfortunately the service deteriorates very quickly and is simply shameful for a restaurant in this price range!!! The plates after the starter remained in front of us for exactly 39 minutes - even though a total of 5 people were used to serve around 35 guests! Our two "service specialists" gave us a look but didn't clear anything away, let alone the opportunity to order new drinks! After 45 minutes of waiting, I cleared our table myself and walked through the middle of the restaurant with our plates and cutlery to the inside and handed the stack to our absolutely disinterested service specialist, who happened to be chatting with two other service specialists! The three of them were visibly astonished and their questioning looks were objectively and decently satisfied by my displeasure. An apology would certainly have been nice, but that wasn't the case, it seemed almost normal that the guests had to clean up themselves. The food, on the other hand, was really good but with such poor service it's simply not worth a second visit! The only bright spot at the end of a long wait was ELAINE, who was serving in another area of ​​the restaurant and must have noticed that we were waiting more than we could consume and cleared the table herself. Because Elaine was cheerful, relaxed and offered each of us a coffee - THANK YOU 😘 One star for the kitchen and one for Elaine and therefore no more visits - a shame 😥

I was there on the rainy day so I've missed the chance to enjoy the view of Lago Maggiore. Food are good, pity that I didn't choose any homemade pasta menu because I want to have the osso buco, together will be too much for me 😬😬😬 good wine list and yummy dessert. Nice cozy & warm atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and have very high standard of professional services. (It's not a busy day at all) We speak some Italian so communication was not a problem. They accept both cash and card payment.

The view and location are great, but the portions are extremely small, the prices are in the upper league and the service is poor!!! Tables were not cleared, even by guests who had long since left. Drinks were partly warm, 3 dishes on the manageable menu were not available or were only available twice, etc., very long waiting times. Lots of idle time for staff. Food was ok, but you can also expect higher service at higher prices. Definitely not a recommendation (anymore).

Beautiful grotto with well-kept surroundings and a great view. We were there for dinner twice more and were treated to food and drink. Highly recommended.

What can I say, one of the most beautiful views of the gulf of Locarno and Ascona with the Brissago Islands in the background. But the view doesn't fill your belly, the dishes cooked by Chef Cristian enchanted us both for the quality and presentation, the products places, pasta, ravioli, gnocchi all strictly homemade, last but not least the welcome from the staff was impeccable, kind and smiling they make you feel at home. I recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a special evening, for the eyes and the palate.

We were THRILLED - anyone who has something to complain about here should take a look and just think... Highly recommended! We will be back. Warm wishes

Were there with two small children. After an aperitif we only received the menu after an hour of waiting. The portions were rather small, the price-performance ratio was mediocre, and the service was relatively poor. But the location is great!!

Wonderful location😍 But even more so the dishes that were served to us! Excellent suggestion to try the bruschetta with asparagus, a real delight! Gnocchi, ravioli and tagliatelle, all 3 delicious! You can feel the quality of the food and the care with which it is cooked and presented 😋 I will be back soon to try other dishes

But be careful when getting there, the route isn't the easiest :) and Tetris experience is an advantage when it comes to parking! :)

noon on October 14th, 21 our order: osso buco con risotto, polenta with funghi porcini and spaghetti al arrabbiata and bruschetta con funghi porcini. as well as aqua al rubinetto and a half the whites of the casa. our feeling: the risotto was mushy and has become boring. so no parmigano. and no parmigano on the table. the polenta was rather very soft and saltless. the arrabbiata spicy, as described, but tasteless and practically without salt. The wine is very unprofessional. the half-lil in a carafe for 50.— (fifty) without to show the bottle. it is a great wine, which costs so much. This is the most expensive in Locarno and the surrounding area half the best wine we ever drank have. and we live here in the south. The liter of acqua del rubinetto stood at Fr 8.— on the bill. was typed incorrectly. The bruschetta was very good. Bravo! Conclusion: we would just because of the bruschetta no longer be a guest. disappointed hj rohde

The grotto receives one star each for the great view and the beautiful location. The chef certainly deserves another star, the food was very good (even though there was very little meat on the plate for the price...we had Brasato al Merlot). Unfortunately there is a deduction due to the long waiting time and the service. We had to wait a long time for everything: until the order was taken, then for the drinks, for the starter and also for the main course. The couple at the table next to us entered the grotto at the same time, but were already eating dessert and after 1 hour and 45 minutes we still hadn't had a main course.

Getting there was an adventure, but the view was beautiful. Service and food was first class. Gladly again!

3 stars for the view and the extremely friendly manner of the owner and the female waitress (08/13/21 8:00 p.m.). Unfortunately, as "ordinary mortals" we didn't find the overview of the map (also online in advance) very adequate. Of course it's "our problem", but in that case we could have left the reservation that evening to someone better off. After studying the menu in detail, we realized that the complete daily menu including starter and dessert costs 140 francs, even if you only take a "starter" (I had gnocchi with tomatoes, which was okay, my partner had very tasty ravioli). , you pay around 26 francs for a starter. For the bottle of dark beer that is served there (0.7) you pay around 7 francs in the store, 27 francs there. Of course we all know that the restaurant charges more for it, but that is simply disproportionate. The panacotta with berries was tasty, but nothing special and it also costs 12 francs. Unfortunately, the service and the mood of one waiter quickly became very unfriendly after it became clear that after the "starter" we would only have dessert. Of course, that says a lot about the perception that you have a normal guest there. What's a shame is that as a tattooed person you don't really fit in there. But the owner and his team get a clientele that matches their prices, and they look at you askance. If the exclusivity online for tourists were highlighted a little more clearly, one would have the opportunity to leave the space to others from the outset. What I find really bad, however, is that negative reviews here on Google, as I just read, are responded to in a really unprofessional manner. That shouldn't and shouldn't be the case. A little more clarity in the advance online presentation and a little more objectivity in 1* reviews would be my recommendation here. In general, the view is amazing, the parking is ok if you can drive a car really well, like me. As I said, the owner and the female waitress were very friendly. But please make it clear somewhere in advance that this is a really high-priced restaurant.

It's a real shame that such a place is run by incompetent and rude people. upon our arrival we had to wait at the entrance gate closed with a rope barrier as if we were in the most exclusive club of who knows where... I order a rosé and I am told that it is fake - two minutes later a family of 4 arrives where it is served a whole bottle???!?? Lazy staff, lacking passion and professionalism. The bill is too high for what they offer. Not to be repeated!

We were there 1 week ago, and for the 3rd time. But I think it was the last. Service not really organized, long wait, probably too many customers. In addition, it was bitterly cold (it's a known fact) and there weren't enough blankets. Hence the meals served almost cold (risotto) and the polenta remained for a good while under the infrared lamp! Too bad, because the view is fantastic.
