Ristorante Negromante in Locarno

We had dinner in the historic Negromanti on November 11th, 2023. Friendly welcome through the beautiful courtyard. Unfortunately the food is not recommended. For starters we ordered mixed salad, mine with 5 slices of wild boar ham, a few small strips of cheese and a libless zero eight fifteen mixture at 22 francs, too expensive. The pasta with supposedly fresh porcini mushrooms (was frozen). But OK. The fillets and entercote with ready-made sauce and re-frozen supposedly fresh porcini mushrooms were acceptable. But on the menu for 44.-Fr. It was sold to us for 46.- Fr. Apparently it was uploaded to the cash register computer. But the ingredients were a shock. Boiled potatoes from being kept warm in the oven for a long time are tough all around and dried out on the inside. The carrots and zucchini were carelessly pulled out of the water and turned mushy. There was no apology and overall very disappointing. Wouldn't recommend it.

A beautiful restaurant with an excellent menu. We enjoyed our entrees and enjoyed the wine as well. My selection of the trout with mountain herbs was tender and delicious. We recommend arriving early and taking time to enjoy the meal. The atmosphere is elegant but with a cozy air. It is quite comfortable for a lingering meal with great conversation.

Unfortunately, the spaghetti I ordered at the restaurant was anything but delicious. When I told the waiter what I thought, he told me to put cheese on it, as if that would solve all the problems. But even the cheese couldn't save the bland spaghetti. It was a disappointing meal that I hope I won't experience again.

Spezzantino was pretty tough...

A wonderful ambience in the middle of historic walls. Highly Recommended. The food was very good and the staff friendly and competent. Despite the full house (film festival), an employee was available at all times and what was ordered came very quickly. We were very satisfied and would happily recommend this restaurant.

Food average: Mixed salad consisted of the bare essentials, bread with it was okay, vegetable lasagne was made of overcooked pasta and pureed something, tomato sauce and cheese were the only things with taste. Tatar was very tasty and well seasoned. The grape sorbet for dessert was also impressive. Top service: friendly, attentive, courteous, multilingual, 5/5 Ambiance: very pretty, romantic courtyard, rather old-fashioned bar and furnishings inside Conclusion: Restaurant is absolutely recommended (with the exception of the vegetable lasagne).

Very close to the Piazza Grande is a gem, one of the oldest buildings in Locarno dating from the 14th century. By complete coincidence, while wanting to discover the small streets that go up from La Plazza Grande, we arrived in front of a sublime interior courtyard which seemed private. Luckily it was a restaurant. And there the magic happened. Magical moments. This was once the home of a noble family. So there is no point in trying to describe this idyllic place to you, everything is beautiful and enchanting. Steeped in history. An attractive menu, which offers multiple dishes, we want to taste everything. In addition, they offer off-the-menu dishes every day that correspond to the seasons and the creativity of the chef. Everything was delicious. Perfect. Thanks to Antonio for his professional and warm service, as well as to chef Umberto, his passion for cooking is felt in his dishes. To bring together all these talents you need a conductor and in this restaurant it is a boss, Orianna, whom I congratulate for having made this place an oasis of happiness in the heart of Locarno. One thing is absolutely certain, I will come back every time I am in this city. Thank you to all of you.

Presentation and quality are not sufficient. We felt ripped off. We complained and had to listen to the chef insulting us as we paid. Never again.

The food was very disappointing. A so-called mixed salad consisting of chopped green salad and some grated carrot. The whole trout was extremely pickled and served with chopped green lettuce, which was sandy. The brasato was tender but the porcini and sauce were much hotter and had obviously been heated in the microwave, as had the clump of tasteless polenta. The waiter was apologetic when we complained. When he told the chef, we heard Italian swear words coming from the kitchen. Having worked in Italy I understood. The waitersaid they were just singing a song! All in all a very disappointing experience, which is a pity for the historical setting.

Special place where courtesy from the staff is not lacking. Excellent cuisine that I recommend. I will definitely return

Restaurant located in the old town, in a beautiful courtyard with pergola, who knows how beautiful in summer! We ate well, I chose the traditional dish of the day: it was polenta taragna with stew. Optimal. The mother-in-law's gnocchi are also good. We were full given the generous portions and so we gave up the desserts which however looked inviting (even in the piece). We will definitely be back!

We ate on a Saturday evening, the service was attentive and fast, the waiter was very friendly, we took a platter of cold cuts to share for three people and then the sliced ​​meat with rosemary and juniper as well as café de Paris. In the oldest house in the city with a wonderful ambience, both in the quiet courtyard and in the indoor restaurant. Very friendly service. My tagliatelle with fresh porcini mushrooms was good, as was my wife's gluten-free polenta with fresh porcini mushrooms. Good open wine (Chardonnay). The semifreddo with pistachios for dessert was to die for! Good value for money, also with the two daily menus.

A beautiful restaurant which we visited twice. The walls are historic and the courtyard is magical with hanging wine. The service is very attentive, friendly and even multilingual. DE,FR,IT and EN. Very nice and friendly boss who runs the ristorante with a lot of passion. The food was very, very tasty. Highly recommended Ticino specialties. A visit is really worth it. And if something is wrong, say it immediately, it will immediately be taken back with an apology and re-served.

Decent eating, low level service. We took a mixed cold cut and a mixed cheese as a first course and it was good. Afterwards I ate the tartare, it was decent and it wasn't "mixed" well so some bites were too "seasoned" and others didn't taste like anything. Low level and arrogant waiter. No knowledge of Ticino wines, he even told us 'but Switzerland hasn't been making wines for long' and used the "drip guard" as a bottle holder. I don't expect much but at least knowing what's on sale wouldn't be bad. We pointed out some things to him and he responded arrogantly and annoyedly, perhaps he hadn't understood that our "criticisms" were advice on how to improve. Apart from this mix-up, I will definitely return, because the location is really very beautiful.

Searched for as an insider tip - found it as an insider tip that I am very happy to share here. Great restaurant that you should definitely visit. I had the TRIS de TARTARE…sensational. The boss was very attentive as were the entire staff. It is hidden in an inner courtyard that is covered with grapes. Great ambience. At the end there was a free espresso and a hazelnut schnapps as a bonus. I find prices reasonable. Interior GREAT. Definitely worth a visit.

We went for dinner this Friday 3/6/22 We were in town for the bridge and passing by after lunch, we saw the location and the menu displayed with the interesting choice of dishes, many also local, and we booked. TOP hospitality and service from the staff! They were interested in customer satisfaction and suggested pairings between wine and dishes. Even the Chef said goodbye at the end of the service! Taken: appetizer with excellent local cured meats and cheeses! Then 2 types of bull fillets: with speck and porcini mushrooms with a side dish of potatoes and vegetables. Fillets that melted in your mouth! Very fresh mushrooms, as were the side dishes. In short, what can I say, more than satisfied! If it happens, we will definitely be back!

Unfortunately the food wasn't tasty. The cordon bleu was burnt and overflowing with stale cheese. The ham seemed cheap. The side dishes were obviously not freshly prepared. The fried potatoes tasted like rancid fat and the vegetables were limp, some still ice cold and over salted. A red Merlot was served with the trout instead of a white Merlot as requested.

Enchanting place, with obviously that sinister aura due to various legends. Good, fast, professional service. For tourists, an example of a typical restaurant in the region.

I find the location to be one of the most beautiful in the Locarno area. I've been there twice, both to celebrate a birthday and to eat. The burger is great. I appreciate that they serve Hoegaarden beer on tap!

Avoid avoid avoid... terrible service! We were waiting for 20 minutes for the waiters to even acknowledge we were waiting for a table. The only reply to our request for a table was a waiter pointing to the indoor area with any other explanation provided. Inside, after 15 minutes of waiting to get the menu and several attempts calling the waiters we decided to leave. Worst experience in the Locarno region by far.
