Rössli in Bülach

All in all, the food was very solid. However, the price-performance ratio is not really right.

A short-term decision was made at the Christmas market and we got the last table for two. Small but very nice restaurant and the staff are very friendly, attentive and a well-rehearsed team. They work quietly without stress and hectic. Food is very good and interesting. The menu is changed several times a year and cooked seasonally. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend this restaurant. The town also has other beautiful historic houses that are worth seeing

The house-made pork rind as a starter is really wonderfully tender in every bite, the various pieces of meat combined with spicy sauce are a jewel in the bed of salad. Afterwards, in a larger group, we were able to enjoy braised beef from Tafelspitz, thinly sliced, juicy with the sweet autumn sauce and also very tender. Plus a fine mashed potato. You really eat very well in the Rössli. The furnishings/decor in the dining room of the traditional house are modern, the service is prompt and both friendly.

The quality of the food and the great but not intrusive service were very good

The food (ravioli) was tasty. But the portion could be larger. 11 pieces as a main course for 38.- not justified for my taste. A carton of beer is only 2.5 dl. At that price you would expect the usual 3 dl. The service didn't show up for a long time (the dining room side was full) but was always friendly. Conclusion: There are good alternatives in the old town.

The kitchen is simply a dream, made with heart and passion and presented in a visually delicious manner. The food was worth every franc!

The conclusion ahead: Did I eat well at Rössli? Yes. Would I stop at the Rössli again: no. Is the customer king in the Rössli? No. Due to positive feedback from my circle of friends, I visited this restaurant for the first time. The reception was very friendly and hospitable. The menu is manageable and always raises expectations. I ordered two starters and a main course. The homemade ravioli with sage butter were really very tasty and completely convincing. Unfortunately, my second starter, the kingfish ceviche, was completely acidic, disharmonious and not enjoyable, despite the sensory quality of the fish being very good. The veal with rösti as the main course tasted excellent, although the portion size was rather small. So much for the world of taste. So why only 3 stars and a no as a recommendation? If I, as an individual, am prepared to spend around 130 francs on dinner, everything has to be right. The fact that mistakes sometimes happen in a kitchen is human and, for me, quite forgivable as long as the guest's feedback is taken seriously and compensated for accordingly. Although the boss personally received my feedback on the kingfish and I made it clear to him in a friendly manner that I didn't like the starter, there was neither an apology nor any other compensation. In short: I was not taken seriously as a customer. The demands a restaurant places on itself are always measured by the customers and their feedback. The horse was unable to fulfill its expectations of itself that evening. For a restaurant in this price range, this is an absolute “no go”. What our grandparents already knew: A satisfied guest comes back. Never be dissatisfied is still valid today. However, I wouldn't write off the horse. It is to be hoped that there will be a learning curve here in the future and that the customer will actually be king on the next visit....not just on paper.

The food is good, service is friendly. What was missing: dry bread was served. A cream or butter would be nice as a gesture from the house. Priced on the high side

A real culinary delight at an affordable and fair price (lunch menu). Top quality, had a homemade venison bratwurst (inquired specifically), simply excellent and the boss personally asked about our satisfaction.

After several visits to the Rössli, I can say that it is always a pleasure. For me especially the surprise menu which always brings surprises that I would probably never have ordered myself but are absolutely delicious. Always top for me. Top food, top service so it deserves 5 stars.

The food at Rössli is excellent, unfortunately the service is not. I would classify the service as rude and not very happy about the work. I would like to have a well-positioned person for this great restaurant. It's nice that the chef keeps asking about your well-being. I would still like to come back.

In a pleasant atmosphere, with attentive and competent service, we were able to enjoy the best reindeer meat we have ever eaten. The wine recommendation hit the nail on the head and the dessert was exceptional and refreshing. This surprise menu isn't cheap, but it's worth every cent and is definitely recommended!

Wow effect in Bülach! A cozy place, in the old town part of Bülach. It takes you to a time travel how the city was before, but with a fabulous service people, and a diverse selection of wine and beers (served at 7 degrees, wow!). The chef here can surprise you like a Michelin star restaurant. Highly recommended!

Very great restaurant with wonderfully fine food and friendly service! The garden terrace behind the house under the maple tree is very cozy.

We had to wait about 50 minutes for 2 small salads, there was a hair on our bread and no one thought to say "sorry". It is also a rather expensive restaurant; for these prices you can eat better in Bülach.

That was a great experience yesterday at the Rössli. The garden is just super cozy. But let's start with the friendly and attentive service. We felt very well looked after and it was nice to see the boss himself, be it with competent and passionate wine advice, as well as as a chef and what a brilliant one! I had the potato and cucumber salad with Ormalinger Buurehamme as a starter and it was fantastic. My main course was beef fillet minced meat with herb sauce and mashed potatoes and that was also a poem. Plus great wines. It doesn't even matter that it costs a bit more. But quality can and should ultimately have its price. I can definitely recommend s'Rössli!

Disappointed. The first time I ate here was for an event, outside. Decor had a nice theme, sea related(not wedding, not horses). Everything else was above expectations. The second time we dined inside. Although the location is special(old building in historical center), the interior does not meet it's full potential. (Ikea has good designers, but their product is ment for the larger consumer...) The service was subpar, forgetting our simple order(water) twice. Hopefully just a bad day, because there were not that many people. My partner's Hacktätschi was just perfect, but my Seitan ragout with yellow curry was dissapointing. Rice portion rather small, spicy but not necessarily curry(it was't even yellow, it was almost transparent, more like a Szechuan sauce without the soy sauce.) Way too salty(that's why i needed so much water), way to sweet, and a bit fat even for asian cuisine. No umami. The vegetables were improperly cut: pepperoni too big, everything else too small.(Good chromatic though.) The wine selection is extraordinary. The tiramisù was of the highest class. The prices would justify themselves if details would be refined. This is my own personal subjective experience, not to be taken as a generalisation.

Host Ruedi Gübeli knows his craft. The loup de mer was baked in a salt crust and served with tomato risotto (fantastic) and then asparagus (see photos). There is no better way to eat.

Inviting atmosphere with very good food

Small, fine. Great ambience in an old town house with a cozy garden seating area behind the house. Food above the 08/15 level. Prices are right. Service is good, if there is a need the boss serves himself, even if he is actually in the kitchen 🤗 Was here again yesterday. Found it even better than the first time. The boss always has the flavoring of the dishes under control. The dessert menu also needs to be mentioned. Stands out from the competition. Gladly again.
