The Scheitlinsbüchel restaurant impresses with a great view, courteous hosts and attentive service staff. Everyone is friendly, you almost can't get enough of the view and the offering is Swiss and good-bourgeois (emphasis on good ;). It was a pleasure to have been here, we would love to do it again!!

Top! Excellent service...it was refreshing to be pampered by a professional again. Simply great. Food excellent with a great presentation. The children can play outside and we were spoiled. We found our family restaurant. Keep it up!

I had the best tartare for lunch today and the best thing about it was that I could sharpen it myself however I wanted.

Restaurant was full, but the service was top, I can only recommend it

Unfortunately, one of the waitresses tends to exaggerate and therefore doesn't seem authentic. Anyone who turns the greeting into half a ceremony and asks at the end "Are you leaving me already?" seems almost intrusive to us. She tries very hard, but unfortunately it comes across as quite cramped. too bad We always used to love going there. Today it is, if anything, a habit...

We wanted to go to Scheitlinsbüchel for lunch on Sunday two weeks ago with three adults and a small child. After we were initially ignored, we were very hesitantly and unfriendly given a table by a very annoyed waitress. Since there were visitors from abroad, it took us longer to place our order/study the menu, which was a thorn in the side of the already annoyed waitress. When we “finally” wanted to order our food, there were questions about the dressing on the salad. The answer couldn't have been more clumsy and unfriendly. “Italian, French or house dressing?” was the waitress’ question. “What is included in the house dressing?” was our query. “A secret mixture, so what do you take?” was the annoyed reaction again. The lady was so unfriendly that we didn't ask any more questions and just said okay. Less than five minutes later we got up, canceled our order - also citing unfriendliness - and left. That didn't impress the lady either.

Highly recommended. The journey from Riethüsli takes about half an hour when the weather is nice and makes you a little hungry for a simple meal.

Peacefully calm. Child and family friendly. Driver-friendly as parking is available.

wanted to have a coffee with a colleague at the window on a rainy Sunday late in the afternoon. Answer: Window seats are only for eating. After this answer, we drank coffee in the city. Apparently the guests are not welcome to drink.

Cool atmosphere, great view over the city. Very professional and guest-oriented service. Food tastes and looks perfect. Cordon Bleu might be a little bigger. I was just coming back from the flu. At full strength I wouldn't have had enough.

It is very beautiful in Scheitlinsbüchel!

The still mineral water we ordered came in a 5 dl. Served in a carafe.Unfortunately the water tasted like syrup😳It went back.We had run out of food, we didn't order anything, we didn't have to pay for the 5dl "mineral water".And we left frustrated..

Great location with a rude, arrogant service. We have been coming to this restaurant on weekends for years and it is at least 3 times that we have problems with the head waitress who yells in slang and does not listen to the customer's wishes. Last time wrong dishes have coming and she did not accept that she made a mistake. The dishes were not even touched and she still wanted to put them on the bill. A real shame because despite the beautiful place and the good food this way you lose customers...

The view is very nice and the service is fine. We ordered meatloaf, the pasta wasn't cooked long enough, the vegetables were almost raw on the plate, we didn't like it, it's a shame

Down-to-earth restaurant with predominantly Swiss cuisine, good views...

The staff is ultra friendly and very sociable, this is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. This is a real insider tip where you can eat delicious food, receive friendly service and enjoy an extremely beautiful view.

Great sausage salad, nice service and great view

My friend and I were guests on the cozy terrace with a wonderful view last Thursday evening. We were served very warmly, had an excellent meal and are very happy to recommend this to others. We'll definitely be back! :)

Very cozy atmosphere in a wonderful location with a view of the city of St.Gallen. Despite the full house, the service was very friendly and took time for the guests. The dishes are classic but very good at absolutely fair prices.

Unfortunately I had a disappointing experience. The food was beautifully presented, but the taste was inedible. Vegetables are completely unseasoned, mashed potatoes are rather salty. Meatloaf indefinable. The only thing that was really tasty was the dessert. There was Schlorzifladen.

For an occasion, an excellent idea. A little out of the way, cozy, bright and quiet. Service top 👌

The Scheitlinsbüchel is run by a young, dynamic and friendly team. You feel that the guest is very welcome here and receives excellent service. The cuisine is very innovative and offers something for everyone. Great value is placed on local suppliers. The view is fantastic and invites you to enjoy it.

From the welcome until we left was perfect!! The staff is super friendly and very professional. Great respect, because these days it’s wonderful to have a young and successful team. The cuisine, nothing to say, a real delight, fast, good and hot. We also ate the beef tartare. This is by far the best I have ever eaten. Thank you again very much for this wonderful time with you and we will come back! I recommend the restaurant with my eyes closed

Good Swiss cuisine with a great view of St.Gallen.

Almost everything was OK. I would have expected more from this restaurant with these prices. E.g. comments related to allergies, gluten, etc. In addition, the dessert did not correspond to the menu. A scoop of vanilla ice cream with espresso. The coffee was cold and for Fr. 8.00. Note, can't change it. I'm really disappointed.

We went for dinner with our team. Reservation was uncomplicated. We had a very nice seat by the window with a view of the city. Sensational! There was something on the menu for all tastes. Despite the crowds, the food came promptly. The food was very fine. Correct portion size. Price-performance ratio is completely fine. Service was authentic and attentive. Great evening with very fine food in a lovely atmosphere. Thanks!

We were able to celebrate a successful birthday party with 11 people. The food was excellent and very nicely prepared. The view over St. Gallen is very beautiful, the sunset is fantastic. The service is friendly and helpful. Thank you for the great evening.

Unfortunately poor service. The staff was friendly, but an ordered drink was forgotten twice in a row. It took a very long time from ordering to bringing the drinks (there was no food), even though the restaurant was only very moderately busy. Given the long time it took to receive the coffee, I would have thought that it must at least taste amazing, but I was literally bitterly disappointed. It's a shame, I won't come again. For me, views alone don't score points.

Menu was so dirty, unappetizing! We had a salad bowl with crispy salmon, the salad was indefinable, all sorts of things and rather not fresh, drowned in the sauce, for the price of CHF 23.00 I expect something fresh, the eye eats too! The service was too shrill for our ears. It's a shame for a great location, Scheitlinsbüchel used to be a good address, that's over!

The service was tidy, friendly and attentive. That's why the three stars. Only one can be given for food. We had ordered mushroom crispy and fish crispy arrived. We rejected them, then the waitress came to the table again with the same plates and asked if we wanted to eat them, she would bring another portion of mushrooms. We accepted the food. Both the fish and the fried mushrooms were convenience foods and from the freezer, the salad that came with it was a mash of all sorts of fruits and vegetables that were then drowned in the salad dressing. We skipped dessert. There is no comparison to before, you ate very well. The tables on the covered terrace are not beautifully set even in the evening; more could be done as a restaurant for excursions. Bare metal tables with black plastic sets... it was incredibly loud, unfortunately also due to unmannered children, of course the restaurant can't do anything about it. However, when placing guests, some consideration should be given to who sits where. The view is fantastic, but unfortunately it doesn't replace the other weak points. We only visit the restaurant to have a drink, unfortunately.

I can't understand not being influenced by the bad reviews, I've eaten there 2-3 times now and it's always been very good. From the food to the service! You can never please everyone, and people these days have zero understanding, for example for a new team that takes time and the processes have to settle in first, and that was probably the case with the new start with the new tenants the case, which is completely normal. And if the salad no longer looks the same as it did for the last 100 years, but is simply prepared differently, just because most people are creatures of habit, that doesn't mean it's any worse! But to each his own, these people should prepare their own salad at home like they did when they were grandmothers and add their usual salad dressing, maybe add some Maggi on top and avoid modern restaurants ;) Oh yes, and for the guests who write, they “WERE” guests here for the last 40 years and are no longer there, which is a shame, because the restaurant would also be suitable for walkers, but unfortunately the delicious Cordon Bleu is not available pureed. ;) And the topic of the size of the Cordon Bleu…does the motto have to be “big is awesome”? Finding the right size where a very good eater gets full and a normal eater likes everything and nothing has to be thrown away is difficult, I suspect. Better smaller = normal, so that nothing has to be thrown away and there is still room for a delicious dessert ;) I will definitely enjoy eating here again and again and can only warmly recommend it! Great team and great food! ☺️

Were there in a group of 14 people. That's why we ordered the menu in advance. The visit was great, the staff friendly and prompt. Despite additional orders, we never had to wait long. Thirst was always quenched immediately. The food was very tasty. Highly recommended, especially the price-performance ratio.

It's always beautiful with the view of the city.

We went to Scheitlinsbüchel for lunch last week. We both ordered the Cordon Bleu with salad. The salad took a lot of getting used to for us. We were recommended the house dressing, which unfortunately tasted very monotonous. The salad was also a wild mess including cauliflower, nuts and other things that are not normally found in the salad with a cordon bleu. In addition, the cordon bleu was very small compared to the salad. However, the quality of the meat was excellent and the cordon bleu tasted delicious. We could also see at the tables next door that some of the salads went back to the kitchen.

Completely disappointed. Rarely experienced something like this. It won't work anymore. The basic attitude cannot be changed. Incredibly unfriendly and unprofessional...there's a lot more to say, but it's not worth the effort..Hope for a change in the tenants soon, who will understand their craft better.

Average and not very innovative. The staff is OK but not anymore. Reserved and not really friendly in my opinion. I don't have to have it anymore. Otherwise the food was fine.

The reservation was not noted, the order (only vegetables instead of fries) was unfortunately ignored - I was offered to take the plate back, but then my table companions would have had to start without me. The pork cordon bleu was tiny, the vegetable bouquet even puny. To make matters worse, the former was not cooked through and was therefore unfortunately inedible. I ignore the fact that we only received the napkins upon request, but all in all the visit was a failure and my only one. Addendum: And by the way, the fries were too salty.

Good location with a nice view. But the prices are too high / the portions are too small. There is no good reason to justify it. The dish on the picture costs CHF 28...

The visit to the restaurant was a complete disaster. (after change of ownership) I have never been treated so unkindly in a restaurant. Nobody in the service feels responsible for anything and the staff is probably forbidden to talk. Drinks were not brought despite repeated requests. One of four main courses was forgotten. Despite inquiries, there was no information about the missing food. Further attempts to inquire about the food were completely ignored. After 30 minutes of waiting (everyone else at the table was almost finished eating) we wanted to cancel the missing food, whereupon we were shouted at by the cheffe de service. 5 minutes later she slammed the missing dish onto our table - without apology.

Nice destination. Good and inexpensive cuisine. Children can play without any problems (supervision). No big traffic.
