Schützenhaus in Aarau

I received a voucher for the Schützenhaus Aarau for my 50th birthday. I didn't know about this before and certainly wouldn't have found it by chance... The location is actually in a residential area on the northern side of the Aare. The Schützenhaus looks pretty small from the outside, which it actually is. However, that's not a disadvantage. The restaurant is very tastefully and homely furnished. Together with the very friendly staff, you create an atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. Almost like being at home, except you don't have to cook yourself... The food tasted excellent. The selection is not huge but there is certainly something for everyone. And above all, the dishes are really prepared with love, you can see, taste and smell it. I can only warmly recommend the Schützenhaus. Many thanks to the young, well-organized team, who really go out of their way (and easily manage) to make the guest happy. I will definitely come back! I'm particularly looking forward to the warm season when the garden restaurant is open. This also looks very cozy, but is probably less recommended in February.… Many thanks to the brilliant team. Incredibly good food that was only surpassed by the friendly and very attentive service. (Many thanks to the young man with the blonde hair and glasses, we felt like we were at home with good friends) Great concept, cozy atmosphere and great attention to detail. Be sure to reserve in advance, the restaurant seems to be very popular.

Great place where you can relax comfortably inside and outside. Very friendly staff. We had cream of mushroom soup with egg sponges and glazed veal shank with herb polenta and braised vegetables. Everything excellent! We therefore highly recommend the lunch menus. Tips: Reservations and menus with soup

very disappointing because we couldn't order any more food at 6:30 p.m. even though the restaurant is open until 8 p.m. and we were told that the kitchen closes at 7 p.m. The restaurant wasn't very full either, we're really very disappointed that we were sent away like that! At least it could be mentioned somewhere when the last orders will be taken...

Dessert was delicious. Service very very slow. Waited 35 minutes for the order to be taken, then another 30 minutes until the drinks came and after we had finished drinking, dessert arrived after more than 20 minutes. It was a shame.

Lunch was very good but the portion was too small. The price performance is not right.

My meal was too bland for my taste, but otherwise I was very happy with the quality of the food. The Hahnenwasser is free and the service was very friendly, great!

They always treated me with a smile, and for me that is worth more than anything else, there are people who do not know the field and are sometimes very impatient, let's respect the workers, each of them can be your brother, your son, your… his nephew. , a very nice place.

Yesterday we were at the Schützenhaus Essen at the end of a hot day, luckily we had already reserved in advance, the very pretty terrace and the garden area were filled to the last seat. The service was very nice and accommodating, because of the rush we had to be patient until the food arrived, but that wasn't really difficult in this chilled atmosphere. I had the tartare as a starter and the ham hock with potato salad as a main course. All I can say is that every minute of the wait was worth it; I was completely impressed by both the quality of the products and the preparation.

Four of us and three kids had dinner at the Schützenhaus restaurant on Sunday evening. We were warmly welcomed and were able to enjoy a very, very tasty meal on the cozy terrace on this beautiful summer evening. The atmosphere is really nice. The kids had fun on the in-house playground. Top! Gladly again!

A gem where not expected, surrounded by new buildings. I can only report positive things, from a simple drink in the cozy garden to dinner for a whole company: the team is always highly motivated and hospitable, the food is delicious. One of the most beautiful places in Aarau. <3

Food was very tasty and freshly prepared. Unfortunately the chicken breast had a bone! However, the waiting time was very long without an appetizer. About an hour. It doesn't have a large selection and unfortunately one dish was no longer available. Otherwise very friendly and they respond to requests.

We were served very friendly and the food was delicious! I had beetroot cream cheese dumplings on winter spinach with Brussels sprout chips. Everything fresh and lovingly prepared!

We were so positively surprised - a really great neighborhood restaurant. We were in the Schützenhaus for the first time on Saturday evening two weeks ago. We thought it wouldn't be a problem to get a table for 2 people. Think! The restaurant was full. Thanks to Christian Senn, the managing director, a table for two was prepared for us. Thank you again for this - this is what I call hospitality and spontaneity. We spent the time until our table was ready in the bar, having a nice conversation with Christian. The restaurant has a great style, somewhere between "rustic", cozy but also modern - you just feel good there. The food is very good and the service is courteous and friendly. Even though the service staff were under a lot of pressure with so much activity, we were happy to accept that we would have to wait a while. The "daily special" is presented on an old school boatman's board - very friendly and the card is in old book covers - a great idea! The menu selection is clear and fun and “wonderful”. We were completely satisfied and would definitely like to come back. Many thanks to Christian and the entire Schützenhaus team.

I once again spent a wonderful evening in the Schützenhüsli. The starter was not only a top experience in terms of taste but also a blaze of color for the eye. The main course included a plate with everything a veggie heart could desire in autumn and the dessert with all sorts of things Zwetschge just passed on the tongue...everything was rounded off by attentive, very friendly service and a suitable ambience with lots of loving and creative details..I'll be happy to come back soon :)

I always like going to the Schützenhaus because it has a nostalgic background for me. I grew up in the old building where the Aarepark now stands. Yesterday I asked if you could buy cigarettes. I was told no. When I asked why, the owner said in a very unfriendly tone that they don't want that and don't support smoking. If you say something like that in front of all the guests in an unfriendly tone (passive-aggressive), you feel quite exposed as a person. The service was generally unfriendly and not very chatty. It's a real shame, the restaurant and the surrounding area are otherwise really great. Kind regards Jasmina

The atmosphere is very pleasant, the old rifle house has been beautifully converted! The menu is a good size and the food is really good. I also think the prices are very fair. I've been there several times and will definitely come back.

The Schützenhaus is an oasis of relaxation. On Saturday we enjoyed a cozy evening in the cozy garden restaurant. In addition to a few top classics, the menu also features excellent new delicacies. The staff is very friendly. As a guest, you can make a little effort if there are any language barriers, then the order will go smoothly. Thank you, the entire Schützenhaus team. Menu changes often. And in my opinion the staff is understaffed and not professionally trained, which is why they are severely overworked. Therefore, in our case, the correct invoice was not estimated. It's a shame, but the location is cozy! Please no empty phrases like: We're sorry if you had a bad experience with us, something obviously went wrong. We are usually praised for the friendliness of our staff. On the contrary, in my experience the service staff is incompetent and arrogant!!! Traditional Swiss hospitality. Free tables outside but no one was willing to pour us a glass of beer. The explanation of the staff was that they are too busy and have no capacity to accommodate new customers. Very friendly indeed! From the looks of it it's a nice place with good food. The service is awful, even for Switzerland. I recommend spending your money somewhere else.

Yesterday we spent a lovely afternoon in the unique Schützenhaus. The goulash with knöpfli was delicious. The pumpkin salad was creative - a change from the usual green or mixed salad. A successful, sweet finale was the homemade chocolate cake. The service was attentive but never intrusive. Very good wines. The restaurant is a real discovery and has the quality of regular customers.

A beautifully converted place, congratulations to the interior designers. It's a shame that the Schützenhäuschen doesn't exactly have friendly operators. We have already had a few bad experiences: chaotic organization even at important events, pieces of plastic from the fishing net in the shells or very long waiting times outside. In the coffee area inside, which will be converted into a bar area from five o'clock onwards, children and strollers will no longer be allowed, even without any other guests. You feel pretty unwelcome and don't want to come anymore. :)

On Saturday, October 23rd, 21, we were guests at the Schützenhaus as a group of around 18 people. We celebrated a 40th birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was attentive and very friendly. But what really bothered me was that the birthday "child" was neither congratulated nor offered a small gift, such as a small dessert, even though it was known that it was a birthday party. This still needs to be reconsidered in the Schützenhaus.

An absolute insider tip!!! The parking spaces are directly in front of the entrance. The ambience is unique. Both inside and outside. The map is small but nice. Likewise the wine list. But here you will find something to suit every taste. An absolute must for fans of sophisticated cuisine. The portions are optimal. Price/performance is right. The staff is extremely friendly, attentive and organized. We recommend !!!

I was here every lunchtime in a relaxed, pretty atmosphere. Varied offering, well prepared, very tasty, whether for meat eaters or vegetarians. The salad dressing is awesome. The staff is extremely friendly and I feel welcome.

Wonderful restaurant - everything is right! Finally it worked and we found our way to the Schützenhaus. We really liked the cozy garden terrace with the tables under the trees, the friendly service met our every need and then there was the excellent food. Everything at its best. What more do you want? After walking past many times on the way to the playground, today we finally ate at the Schützenhaus for the first time. We really liked it. The food was very tasty (there were 4 lunch menus to choose from) and the staff was very friendly. Since there is a small playground right on site, it is also very suitable for visiting with children. We'll definitely be back!

Sitting here with friends is a perfect thing! Especially in summer when you can be outside. It would be good if there was also a gluten-free beer! Appenzeller rice beer, since you already have Appenzeller beer!
