Shiva Restaurant in Genève

No other visitor was there when i went to this restaurant and i expected food prices to be decent but its too high and when i eat its masala dosa its really bad and not a idnian taste. Full waste of money

This is the original Shiva restaurant, and the new branch is located in Servette. It was my first encounter of having proper home cooked Sri Lankan/ South Indian cuisine in Geneva, and ever since, i have been their loyal customer for their good food, affordable prices, and mostly, their homey and sincere customer services. You don't find these kind of hospitality from most indian restaurants around here. Also, if you order a Thalia here, they make sure you eat well, and they top up on the house too. They do this for Thali menu only, and be mindful, it's not a buffet 😅. The manager of this branch is super nice, and conversate with his customers so they have a good experience! When my friends go there, he already knows what they like, and boom, their orders are done smoothly. Keep up the great service and food quality, Shiva team. If you want affordable and great curry dishes, Shiva restaurant is must visit restaurant to try out.

Oh what a gem! I have always been craving for a decent dosa and I did not know that it was just around the corner!! For all those that long for Southern Indian / Sri-Lankan food, Shiva is a must! The creamy coconut chutney, the slightly acid but juicy sambar, and the rightly cooked dal all gave me a wonderful trip back to South Asia for a good moment! Finally, the quantity is quite copious and is definitely not just a snack!! Thanks Justin for the nice welcome! I had idlies as well, which were really well made and steamed, but if you have to choose one, definitely go for a dosa!!

Excellent dishes, well presented and tasty.

We ordered masala and ghee dosas on a cold and wet night when one is too lazy to cook, and feel nostalgic for Sri Lankan food. The masala dosas came wrapped in foil. The chutneys, sambar and lentils curry were neatly packed in paper boxes which was already a good start. Being South Asian, I like to think that I know my “dosas and sambar” and so I was apprehensive as one would expect to be. The moment I took the first bite of the masala dosa, I recognized that this was something special and authentic. The cook had worked his magic and I have to give him full credit. Good job! The red coconut chutney was a tad spicy but nice. The lentil curry was very good - even better than the one that I make with coconut milk which my son loves☺️. The Sambar which is a must have with dosa was good, but I think the one I make tastes better as add more Sri Lankan veges. This sambar had all local veges which makes sense. All in all CHF17 for a masala dosa by Geneva standards was pretty decent. It was very filling as well. We had a great family dinner that lifted up our spirits on a cold and wet night. I highly recommend Shiva especially to those who are vegan and also gluten intolerant as most South Indian vegetarian food is gluten free and vegan too.
