Great, fresh fish. Best to walk here from Siglbrugg. It’s a beautiful hike.

After the beautiful autumnal hike from Sihlbrugg, delicious trout and fish fingers with a tasty ravioli were waiting to be eaten. Fine chocolate cake and a pannacotta for dessert. Then we went back along the Sihl back to the start.

Fried trout was excellent, potatoes a bit bland straight from the water. Crispy cookies were also very good. Service quality depends heavily on the person serving and has room for improvement from start to finish. When we arrived we weren't seen with our child for 5 minutes; there were 3 people standing around a cutlery table in the middle. After that it was initially 20-30% occupancy, without reservation, yes? We should suddenly sit down somewhere, but reluctantly with the Bäumli. Hospitality minus. With the menus closed, we waited over 15 minutes to at least order drinks for 2 adults. At some point an older gentleman came, far away from us, he was still smiling, at our table he didn't feel like laughing anymore, we suspect it was our standard German that bothered him. We had our order placed in 30 seconds. When we asked about a high chair for our baby, the gentleman was extremely unfriendly and said we should organize it ourselves. At the end we politely asked if there was any dessert as a takeaway, he said what should you give as a takeaway (Sherlock, the menu even mentions whole fish as a takeaway), so a piece of cake won't be such a drama. He offered us ice cream on a stick, luckily a colleague of his was standing next to us and said it wouldn't be a problem to give pieces of cake without whipped cream. Next time we would simply expect neutral to friendly behavior, even for non-Swiss German speaking guests in an inn. Nature is a little paradise there.

Perfect start and finish area for a Sihl hike. You can look forward to this idyllic restaurant the whole way and when you get there and are rewarded with a cold beer and a delicious trout, what could be nicer 😊

If you want to enjoy fresh trout in a friendly, uncomplicated way and in a beautiful location, you've come to the right place! This place is not for hectic people but for relaxed connoisseurs! Thank you and we will definitely be back!

Food was great, unfortunately portions were a bit small. The place is very nice for that.

Not what it used to be - very bad service, waited for over an hour for the food, which was mediocre (the fish options were not tasty at all, the chocolate cake felt like it was overbaked and a few days old).

Piece of heaven on Earth. Dont tell anyone about it! It is a bit difficult to get there, but I was there at least 10 times - on foot, on bike, on motorbike, on scoter and by car. The best is to walk along the river or go by bike (e-bike).

We were in Sihlmatt on the Thursday before Good Friday. It was cold, but there was no heating. The two waitresses and the boss who served us also had warm jackets on. Saving ok, but not like that!!! The trout and the crispy cookies were good. What bothered us was that the price of the trout was given as Fr. 23.00 and then the potatoes were added for Fr. 7.00. I have never eaten blue trout anywhere without potatoes or rice. You should have something to go with the butter. Fr. 30.00 isn't too much with potatoes, but why can't you include the side dish, whether potatoes or rice? I have trouble with tricks like this. Even with the price of CHF 30.00, people come who want to eat a good trout.

We were guests at the Sihlmatt restaurant with the team at the beginning of September. Everyone really enjoyed the selection of food and wine. In addition, there really is something here to suit every taste. From vegetarian food to meat and trout. The service was very pleasant and authentic - you immediately felt at home in the 'Sihlmätteli'. Big recommendation! We'd love to come back.

Simply the best trout in the Zurich region. The salad and the Zug cherry gateau are also legendary. Very friendly staff. In the last two years, the menu and wines have been expanded, and the annual Metzgete is also worth a trip to the Sihl. Again any time!

Became a trip trap. The Sihlmättli used to be a little insider tip. The cuisine is still good and so is the famous trout, but the service is sad. The overplayed casual behavior comes across as arrogant and unfriendly. The prices no longer match this and unfortunately everything seems careless. With a little more enthusiasm and hospitality, the Sihlmättli could regain its former glory.

Wonderful restaurant in the middle of farmlands. In the summer, there is lots of seating outdoors and an area for kids to play, that includes a range of animals to see. The main focus of the menu is fish, which is very tasty. I went with a steak for a change, that is also very good. There is a small, but good kids menu, and a good range of desserts. One thing to consider is that the road in is quite narrow and steep. Leave some time as you don’t want to rush it.

Beautifully located, lots of space, pleasantly quiet during the week in August. Service is not overly friendly, prices are rather high: coffee, Elmer Citro, cherry cake and panna cotta for 28 CHF. There was more than enough cherry in the cherry cake for that.

Excellent restaurant with very friendly staff in the middle of the countryside. We were there without a reservation and with a dog on Sunday and can highly recommend the trout. The highlight of our hiking trip.

Such a lovely place. The way to get there is through a beautiful green hilly area and the restaurant is in a quiet valley near the river. The owners are very nice and friendly people and the fish is simply delicious - both the "bleu" as well as the "grilled" version. And we love the salad dressing which you can buy! Lots of cute animals around the farm.

Beautifully located, reachable on foot via Tüfenbachweiher in about 40 minutes. You can also arrive by car from the “Zuger side”. Menu classics include trout (fried or bleu) with fine nut butter, accompanied by fresh, crunchy lettuce with a hearty garlic salad dressing. Fantastic! Well-positioned and friendly staff. That's what you want!!! Always my pleasure.

Visited this oasis again after a long time, unfortunately the staff wasn't very friendly and the fish wasn't well cooked. It was the last time for us for a long time.

An idyllic place, cozy, good trout or starters

We came as large groups and enjoyed it very much. Fine aperitif platters and then a wonderful green salad. Many people chose the fried trout, including me, and I was very happy with my choice. The trout was incredibly crispy on the outside but nice and juicy on the inside. The brown nut butter fit perfectly and was really very smooth and delicious. We'd love to come back. The location outside with the meadow is a wonderful change from everyday life.

The restaurant has a sensible name. It is located alone on a large mat (meadow) near the Sihl river in a secluded valley basin. Lots of forest and meadowland surround the place. In the warmer seasons, we serve outside under trees and parasols. For smaller children there is also a large playground with various play and exercise options, very ideal for families with active children. The restaurant's specialty is trout, blue or fried: delicious! Since there were a lot of guests, the kitchen and the waiters were a bit overwhelmed. There were long waiting times, which not everyone liked. Overall, a charming place and recommended.

Enjoyed a quick stop and coffee with something sweet on a hike. The restaurant is in a dreamlike and idyllic setting and invites you to linger.

The menu is rather short, the waiters are nice and helpful, but a little too cheeky. The salad was huge and the sauce was excellent, especially if you like garlic.

After a short hike from Hirzel to Sihl and along it to the Sihlmatt restaurant, we enjoyed the trout, for which the restaurant is famous, in lovely surroundings. But you should definitely make a reservation here if you want to be sure that the restaurant is still open and has free seats.

Excellent, simple dishes built around their home grown fish, served in a homey environment in the middle of basically nowhere. Do recommend!

Extremely long waiting time (over an hour for salad and another 3/4 hours for the main course). We wouldn't eat the food (gnocchi with asparagus and wild garlic pesto) again. Unfortunately, the service allocation is not correct (5 different service staff for our table. Drink orders don't come or don't arrive correctly). Apart from the beautiful location, unfortunately not recommended.

The food and the unique location are simply great and we have been there many times. Unfortunately, the staff often seem overwhelmed by the many guests and are therefore always uninviting, stressed and borderline unfriendly. There is still a lot of room for improvement. The rest is great.

Ich bin hin- und hergerissen: einereits gab es nur ein veganes Gericht, andernseits war es köstlich und mit Liebe zubereitet! Die Mitarbeitenden waren zudem äusserst freundlich! Alles in allem habe ich es sehr genossen und kann es definitiv weiterempfehlen!
