Sprossling in Zürich

3.50 CHF for 2 dl sparkling Züri water! It's a shame, I'm disappointed, I wanted some water with the good espresso...

Our experience today at Sprössling was tip-top: delicious donut and excellent cappuccino with oat milk. The service was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere in the café is extremely relaxed and cozy. Plus point: very child-friendly.

The best vegan kebab sandwich I know. Excellent donuts. Highly Recommended.

Lots of vegan options to eat and drink, a spacious cafe, and friendly staff. We could sit two moms with two strollers without problem. An extra plus for the changing table! Will happily come back!

I was in this café today and have gone there many times, but today the staff was very unfriendly. About 10 minutes after I ordered my drink, my friend (with whom I went to the cafe) was told in an unprofessional and unfriendly manner that he had to leave the cafe. If the employee had told us otherwise, I wouldn't have written anything, but I found the language extremely unfriendly, and unfortunately I no longer feel welcome in this cafe.

Sprössling is an offshoot of Meisterbeck Walter Buchmann "De Beck z'Züri". The cafe is located on Schaffhauserplatz and can be quickly reached by various tram and bus lines. During my visit I was warmly welcomed and served by the staff. The location itself is very pretty and homely furnished. Lots of plants, old wooden tables. There is also an outdoor area where you can sit and watch the goings-on at Schaffhauserplatz. For me, the Stoll coffee and bread selection are among the best in Zurich. Definitely worth a visit.

The superlative coffee at Schaffhauserplatz. Very polite and friendly young service (especially the little guy with the funny tattoos). The donuts are superhumanly good, btw. Good vegan bakery. The prices are honest, the place is nice and has plenty of seating and the staff is friendly. I don't give 5 stars only because, unlike other vegan bakeries I tried in the city, the baked goods such as brioches were a bit dry. Still a good option if you are nearby.

Cozy interior. Suitable for lingering, reading, discussing, playing. Self-service. Friendly people. Both young and old feel at home here. Vegan snacks, great pastries & bread.

Great little coffee. We were there two days ago and there was a large selection of vegan dishes. I had an iced coffee and it was good :)

nice, vegan cafe. good and fine selection of drinks and food. The only points to complain about: tables need to be cleared and cleaned more often + smells from the kitchen (e.g. cheese) waft into the restaurant. otherwise very friendly & comfortable.

The coffee and pastries from Buchmann were very tasty. Likewise the bean burger. Unfortunately the cleanliness wasn't good, the staff just had to clean the tables and floor. It was also unpleasant that the big clean-up operation in the kitchen started at 3 p.m. and we were still eating. Generally quite high volume, not for a relaxing afternoon

Food and coffee was very good. Crew was very friendly however the service needs to be improved. Dishes were not cleaned up frequently and there was a shortage of cutlery. Around 15:00 they started cleaning up the open kitchen so that we had to leave cause it was too loud.

It was a bit cool in the room, so I kept my jacket on. What bothered me was that a radio station was playing news! An absolute no-go in the cafe. I hope for all guests that this will be changed... unfortunately the somewhat apathetic reaction of the waitress doesn't suggest this... Cashew milk would be a great alternative... the menu can be viewed using q code.

We treated ourselves to coffee and pastries for a small breakfast. Because the croissant was so dry, we ordered jam for an additional charge of 1 CHF. A little later we were offered a "substitute roll", which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, this one didn't live up to our expectations either: rubbery and tasteless. The two small loaves of bread gave us the impression that they were from the day before. The service and ambience were pleasant, and the room was only a little noisy despite being busy and occupied chairs.

It was a great experience, worth to go across the whole city. They are 100% plant-based and have so great variety of vegan pastry selection. We LOVED the raspberry pie. Donuts and almond pretzel were great too. Besides that they serve also food, I've always wanted to try the traditional potato dish called "rösti" in Switzerland, here they have it on the menu and it's great too.

I visited on Saturday morning and there were many customers. I had breakfast menu(2 breads,butter,jam, fruit salad with yoghurt and granola, hot drink)16.50frs. It was delicious, but it could be a little high price;)

Super tasty salty and sweet dishes. The cakes are especially fantastic. For me, a day in Zurich is impossible without a visit to my offspring.

I ordered a Chai Latte with oat milk and was very disappointed. It just tasted of steamed oat milk; I couldn’t taste any „Chai“ spices at all and didn’t finish it (which I almost never do so I won’t be back for that). The small carrot muffin was ok. Nothing special but I was happy to see that they offer a *small* baked good because that’s not common in Zürich (from my experience) and a year ago I had one of their cinnamon rolls which was by far one of the best ones I’ve ever had in Switzerland; super soft and not dry at all .

Delicious. Be sure to make a reservation on the weekend as it is very busy.

I really enjoyed the vegan brunch here with a friend. The fresh granola and the nut nougat cream were particularly great. In terms of quality and price-performance, I think the Scion is hard to beat. Unfortunately, the service was a bit rough and the ambience didn't manage to compensate for the hustle and bustle, hence only 4/5 stars.

Disappointing. The Bäckerei staff is friendly and polite. But I couldn't feel safe choosing a vegan dish there. The texture, the color, the taste were too too similar to real chicken in a way impossible to believe. I've eaten several excellent quality vegan "meats", which mimicked animal meat very well. Even though they were delicious and had very similar aspect to the animal counterparts, none of them had affected my confidence. But in this case, I could not trust the restaurant. I questioned the team a few times but without convincing me. That's a pitty! Food, time and money wasting as I didn't eat the lunch I paid for (15 CHF). An embarrassing experience. Vegan café with various breakfast options, sandwiches, salads, sweets, etc. They also offer very tasty iced coffee and iced matcha latte. This was my second time there and I would love to come back. The staff on the first visit were rather unfriendly and spoke very slurred, so that you could hardly understand them. On our second visit we were super satisfied and the service was extremely friendly! There are also some tables outside in front of the café.

There should be more bakeries that only offer vegan food and make it seem abnormal if something contains milk or eggs.

Everything is vegan which is great, but I think some clear sign stating that would be useful, some products have written that on their labels and others not which can be really confusing at first till you learn everything is vegan.

The food is really good, with a great selection. Unfortunately, the organization and customer service still need to be improved. I ordered a burger in which the "meat" was cold, really not okay in my opinion. When we ordered the salad, the plate was extremely cold, as if it had been taken out of the refrigerator. The service at the counter was very unfriendly and very stressed, as the other employees were busy chatting... I'm sorry, but I'm really not convinced!

No card payments for certain customers?

Negative experience. My partner and I found this place on HappyCow and it was marked as “vegetarian”. We were very excited about it given the high ratings. We are both vegan so we had to make sure that whatever we ordered was actually dairy free, and that’s where the problems began. The menu did not have any symbols indicating whether a dish is vegetarian or vegan, and it was only in German which is simply not good enough in an international city like Zurich. Secondly, the staff member who assisted spoke a very limited English which, of course, didn’t help, and then he himself wasn’t sure whether anything was vegan or not. We asked whether the rosti was vegan and he first said yes and then later said “it’s with cheese”. Same with the burger. “Is it vegan?” and he goes “no it’s with meat”. Perhaps it was plant-based meat but he wasn’t sure and that didn’t help. I ordered a burger that was supposed to come with wedges and didn’t get any wedges. My partner ordered a rösti which tasted really blunt and plain. After the meal no one even bothered to ask whether everything was ok or clear the table until we left. Perhaps the only positive note is the price. Very disappointing experience, unfortunately. I doubt I will be going back to this place.

Great vegan selection, a dream come true. The team behind the counter is also great. It's a shame and embarrassing, however, that you have to pay for oats in a vegan cafe. You have to pay extra for soy milk!

The waitresses are always very friendly and helpful. "Non-vegans" get good recommendations, the donuts are great!!!

Even after the takeover by Buchmann, it is still the first address for vegan baked goods, for example the cakes and donuts are great!

Very friendly team, shop & bistro! Unfortunately, I missed the variety of creative and delicious sandwiches in fresh, round, crispy rolls (like a year ago) this morning. (Today there was a selection of bread slices with filling. The bread of the eggplant focaccia was rather hard, unfortunately the eggplant in it was too.) I'll be happy if "Fischers Fritz" (carrot-salmon in a crispy bread roll), "Kikeriki" & Co . are back. Best regards

Unfortunately, it is no longer at the same level as in Gnädinger's time. The sandwiches (Foccaico) were really rubbery and didn't seem fresh. The filling is very economical. The egg peaks unfortunately have no taste of eggs, but with kala namak it would be easy. What a shame!

Sooo sooo friendly girls who run the place. The donuts are amazing! The lentil dumplings are also super delicious, we'll try the rest next time. Really great shop and vegan, what more could you want

Liebes Sprössling-Team So hervorragend wie Euer Essen ist, so katastrophal ist leider auch die Organisation. Ich habe vor genau einer Woche für den 8. Mai reserviert. Heute habe ich erneut angerufen um für ein anderes Datum zu reservieren und erfahren, dass Ihr allg. keine Reservierungen annehmt. Als ich nach meiner Reservation vom 8.Mai nachfragte, wusste man zuerst nichts davon und danach wurde gesagt diese sei nicht mehr gültig. Ich verstehe vollkommen, dass genau in dieser Zeit nicht alles nach Plan läuft und man öfters improvisieren muss. Aber wenigstens (!!) eine kurze Info, dass meine Reservierung storniert wurde, wäre das mindestens gewesen, was man von einem Restaurant erwarten darf. Dies ist was die Organisation angeht, leider nicht das erste Mal. Man mags glauben oder nicht, aber jedesmal wenn ich bei Euch war, sei es als Konsumation vor Ort oder Take away, wurde irgendetwas vergessen. Ich denke, wenn sich nicht 5 Personen gleichzeitig um eine Bestellung kümmern würden, könnte man dieses Problem umgehen. Sehr schade um ein wirklich gutes Konzept mit hervorragenden Leckereien. Mich habt Ihr als doch sehr treuen Kunden verloren. Lg Ceyda

Leider seit der Übernahme von der Bäckerei Buchmann nicht mehr auf dem gleichen Niveau. Gab es vorher immer super Sandwiches mit hervorragenden Broten, jetzt hauptsächlich nur noch langweilige Sandwiches mit Weissbrot. Auch die Auswahl an Süssspeisen ist nicht mehr gleich wie vorher. Hoffe das sich das ändert, da der Sprössling mit Abstand eines der besten Cafés /Bäckereien in der Umgebung war.

Super schönes, kleines Restaurant in Zürich. Als veganerin ein richtiger Traum. Die Speisekarte (übrigens eine lustige dee alles auf Schwiitzerdüütsch zu schreiben :-)), ist erstaunlich gross. Leider kenne ich nicht viele komplett vegane Restaurants mit einem solch breiten Angebot. Cool! Leider konnte ich noch nicht alles probieren, doch die Donuts waren auf jeden Fall himmlisch!

Ich bin kein Veganer/Vegetarier, doch dieses Kaffee ist super. Leckere Snacks, feiner Kaffee und auch zum Lernen ist der Ort sehr gut geeignet. Gerne wieder :)

A "vegan sweet spot" :-) I'm usually there for breakfast but lunch bites are also on the menu (Sandwiches, Salads, Burgers and more...). If you're in a hurry, maybe think twice - the staff is not he quickest but exceptionally friendly and patient. I'm no vegan myself but I find the food delicious - at least as far as I know it! The coffee (with milk substitutes) not so much... Very crowded on Saturday mornings - which kinda speaks for itself...:-)
