Wonderful good food and good service I loved it

My wife and I had a great stay in October 2023 in this hotel. Our room was very beautiful and quiet with a beautiful view of Lake Brienz. Thank you!

There was a small mistake during the meal, new chef... But still fine and tried very hard. A coffee on the house instead. Friendly service, good atmosphere.

Location is beautiful. Much else leaves something to be desired. Vermicelles were dry.

Food doesn't taste bad, but it's nothing special, service is good, the ambience is good because of the location.

Then I would train the staff to come to work neat and clean. A greeting should actually be part of decorum. I absolutely cannot recommend this res. Unfortunately.

Laughing is not forbidden. I think it was the boss, wearing a stained blouse in service is not nice to look at! The serving daughter put in a lot of effort.

My reason for the 4 stars is that, on a beautiful day with not so many tourists, we had a very good meal and the service too was very good. The outdoor seating was just perfect with the view right next to the aqua green Brienz lake.

Very tasty and huge portions. I had cream schnitzel with pasta and mushrooms. Enjoyed it. Right on the lake and friendly service. Were there for the second time.

The restaurant has a good reason for the bad reviews 😥 kitchen open until 7 p.m., ordered a scoop of ice cream and wine at 6:55 p.m.: the kitchen is CLOSED!!!! We left as guests and definitely won't be back 😏

We sat here on the terrace with a great view over the lake, but the schnitzel we came for (praised on the sign along the road), turned out to have been crossed out on the menu. Staff is friendly, but they seem understaffed. I opted for chicken fillet with fries, which was well prepared and with a tasty versatile salad. My husband had the bratwurst with fries, but there was only a tomato. Furthermore, the bread basket we received for the meal was a mockery: 3 half pieces of baguette and dry too. All in all, a good meal and a beautiful view.

An excellent stop with an astonishing view of the Turk blue Lake Brienz while riding around the lake. The coffee was delicious, served with hot cups and great foamy milk.

We were in Brienz three times today, the cheese fondue here is highly recommended and absolutely delicious! The staff was very friendly and open-minded, we would come back :)

There is a saying in Romanian. The people bless the place. What this means is that even in a beautiful place, human labor can produce something truly amazing. But if you don't feel like dealing with tourists, then maybe you should look for another job instead of treating them badly. The only beautiful thing is the wonderful color of Lake Brienz.

We stopped in here this afternoon for a late lunch. First of all, when we read the menu we realized that there would probably be convenience products on our plates. The service was very friendly and, despite a full terrace, we didn't have to wait. The huge range of games is great for the little ones and the mistakes were also diligently looked for in the “cutlery bags”. Now about the food… Egliknusperli for the price, I couldn't expect anything else. But it would have been nice to at least toss the potatoes in butter or even with parsley and butter. Yes, the little ones wanted nuggets with fries, which is a positive thing, the portion size was appropriate and not too big as we have often experienced! I don't want to go into much detail about the large mixed salad with egg... Raw vegetables. In summary, it was ok, but the restaurant was obviously overrun today and despite the hard-working service staff, it was clear that the processes only partially worked and that there were too few staff present.

I have rarely had a worse meal with my wife. To charge more for a convidience Cordon-Bleu than in a good restaurant for a really freshly made one is a disgrace. If I could, I wouldn't even give it a star. Once and never again.

We ate a very different fondue. It has garlic and a lot of cheese, the potatoes and accessories on the side, which is why it is a little expensive. The mixed salad was very average with a lot of sauce. the incredible views. It is a real luxury to eat in front of the lake and mountains. The two waitresses are very friendly.

1 café, 1 latte macchiato, 1 apple pie and a cup with 2 scoops of ice cream cost 30.- According to the menu, the apple cake cost 5sfr and the cup 10.50. Then the two cafes should cost 14.50?!

Superb terrace with a view of the local specialties menu, good value for money

I have never tasted anything as disgusting as what I had at this restaurant. DO NOT EAT THERE. I ordered a fish with a side of potatoes, the fish was purely drowned in oil and extremely greasy with no flavoring whatsoever. The potatoes weren’t throughly cooked, and tasted old and disgusting. I felt extremely nauseous after and ended up throwing up from the poor quality of this food. On top of that the tableware was dirty and so were the plates. The food here was repulsive and gave me food poisoning. Upsetting that any restaurant would even consider serving food of this quality to their customers.

Small traditional Swiss restaurant by the lake. The prices are fair for the location and the food is pretty good!

During our road-trip we arrived to Brinez, and we stopped out at the restaurant for a lunch. It was a great stop and good food for lunch by the amazing lake! The staff is very kind, and overall we had a nice meal with amazing view Thanks

One of the few places open in Brienz on the October day we visited. Nice and sunny terrace, good service, big portions and tasty food. Reasonably priced for Switzerland. Beautiful view of the lake.

Nothing special. A somewhat outdated restaurant. Everything OK, but nothing outstanding either.

The worst place ever: disgusting French fries ..

We were passing through and drank a coffee and ate a cake on the terrace. Coffee and cake were okay. From the terrace you have a beautiful view of the lake. The house itself is a bit old and has retained the style of the 1960s. The staff could definitely be a bit friendlier. The prices are relatively high, but unfortunately they are now normal in Switzerland.

We enjoyed a beautiful lunch here of cheese fondue and white wine. The view is amazing, the atmosphere peaceful and the service was really good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and helpful with the menu. We will absolutely come back again when we have the chance!

Beautiful view, fast and friendly service.

We had a wonderful walk along the Brienz lake promenade and deserved “äs lagga Bierschä”. From the promenade, go up the stairs to the terrace of the Sternen restaurant. Sunshine, warm, great view of the lake, a lot going on on the terrace, but we were still able to get a spot. Very attentive service, even though there was so much going on on the terrace we were served quickly. PP available, can be reached via Brienz main street.

Bad welcome, the owner was not at all empathetic, advance payment and regarding cleaning... three dried whitish drops on the floor... terrible value for money!

Short stay only (one night). We had a room with direct entrance to the lake promenade 🏞. The room and bathroom were partially renovated, everything was perfectly clean. Simple but cosy. Friendly staff, buffet breakfast was good (the offer could also include some vegetables).

There is an employee whose name I don't remember. He was very friendly and welcoming to us, and this is what made me come back to the place again They have salad and grilled chicken breast and there is no mistake The spaghetti tasted okay I highly recommend it to anyone who visits Brienz

Wonderful good food and good service I loved it

Der Sternen is the restaurant at the entrance to the Aare Gorge. You eat good, traditional food. The warm kitchen is not open all the time. At 2 p.m. they also had very delicious cherry and apple pies for us.

Where should I start…. We, a group of 8 people, were not even greeted but rather ignored. After we had basically chosen a place ourselves and put together tables, the waitress came and took our order, not really motivated and without emotions. The table wasn't even set. The cutlery set was simply placed in a heap on the table. The food was OK so far. But not a highlight either. However, the Cordon Bleu was still raw inside. This was then brought back into the kitchen without emotion and without comment, and brought back without saying a word about it. A lot of things didn't seem to work for the other guests either. Our table neighbors had ordered fondue. The rechaud didn't burn, was then taken away again and 5 minutes later a new one was brought in, which didn't burn either... Food was served to the right people with a low hit rate. The service didn't even work for coffee and cake. We were very amazed at how people can still host like that today. It's a shame for the great location. I'm sure everything will be done well with walk-in customers in the end. For us def. no longer worth a second visit.

Very nice and hospitable hospitality. We were able to enjoy a fine menu. Recommendation: meatloaf. We were able to marvel at the world's largest puzzle and would love to come back.

Sometimes you get the impression that Peter Alexander is coming around the corner as a waiter. But it is Lake Brienz and not Lake Wolfgang. The restaurant has a terrace with a beautiful view of the lake and the mountains. It's been a long time since we've eaten such a fresh and crunchy salad. The sauce was also perfect. The perch fillets and also the cordon bleu were great. The service friendly and prompt. That's the way it has to be!

Pretty terrace…. And There you go . Dish served without finesse (large plates) but tender meat. Zander and perch fillets from Russia…. Kitchen is closed at 9 p.m. for dessert in the middle of the weekend of the ascent?!?!? Apart from the perfect setting for a drink, you will find better elsewhere

Decent, delicious Swiss food, tasted very good (perch fillets with boiled potatoes / cheese slices). Very nice staff and a wonderful view of the lake on the terrace.

Price/performance good. Food was fine and well prepared. Service was friendly and prompt despite the terrace being full. The location is wonderful by the lake. 👍

I went to this restaurant and they are very slow serving the food. It took 15 min to get the drinks, 45 min to receive the first starter (soup) and it was a wrong order. After 1:30h waiting for our food and tired of asking the waitress, we decided to leave. I have to say that there was no more than 5 tables occupied at that time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

Service ok. There was no disinfectant in the toilets, the food was very dry (schnitzel and cream schnitzel). Children's portions are very large and the price is ok. All in all, ok for once, nothing more.

I've been to Brienz several times and this time I ate at the Sternen restaurant on January 1st, 2022. I ordered fried chicken breast with pomeras and salad. The serving staff was always very friendly and courteous. TOP If there wasn't even a drop of sousse left at the end, it was wonderful. 👍😀 I enjoy eating there any time 👍👍

We went to this restaurant before leaving to have lunch. Everything was delicious. The view is magnificent! We had great fun!

Very family-friendly restaurant right on the lake. Fine food and very friendly staff. The boss is an initiator of the great riverside path and a master of games. That's why you can also take the most popular board games to the table in the restaurant and play them. It's worth a visit!

Completely incompetent staff - unfriendly - very expensive - food really bad (you could break a nail with the fries) - view is beautiful - please make something of it

Absolutely avoid. Way too expensive for such poor quality. The staff does not see us, does not notice us. They pass by us without laughing and what's more, very unfriendly! Finally once at the table, 15 minutes before someone would come and take our order. Once the dishes arrived, one of the 2 was wrong... . As for the quality, I'll let you judge for yourself on my photos. Horrible fries: the worst of my life. Several days old, bathed in used oil. They are more than dry and hard and above all empty (see the photo to believe it) hahaha! I've never seen that in my life! When it comes to frozen perch fillets, they are simply inedible. More than dry and hard. 10x over fried and breading too thick. Where is the fish hiding in the middle of so much breading? Uninteresting tartar sauce and I also doubt its freshness!!! Half a millimeter breaded slice of meat. Much more breading than pork. Breadcrumbs soaked in oil for a change! I will never set foot there again and advise you to do the same. The view is superb. At least that :-)

We were on the star terrace today. Beautiful view of the lake and mountains. We ordered an iced coffee, it was great 👍. Price/performance is absolutely right.

Friendly service and a good view of the lake.

Good accommodation, with excellent value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful. Only the parking is a bit problematic, but solvable. Don't forget to take a look at the juggling shop attached.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the terrace, served by friendly staff.

Tragic service, unfriendly, incompetent and disinterested. My husband has celiac disease and has to eat a gluten-free diet. When I asked if that was possible, she was very rudely told that she wasn't interested and that it was too complicated for her!!!

The service wasn't great, the tables weren't even laid, and I had to get the children's highchair myself. The only thing that was up to par was the beer, and that's the end of it.

Staff friendly and nice, but with the location on the lake more would be possible.

Reception at the reception (if you can even call it that) wasn't exactly friendly. The rooms have the charm of group camp holiday rooms not hotel rooms. The restaurant also looks old-fashioned and not particularly appealing. It's a shame about the really great location.

Recommended as a restaurant. Great view from the terrace, a nice waiter and delicious food at reasonable prices. Gladly again.

The Cordon Bleu was inedible. The horse fillet, ordered saignant, was fried almost bleu. The food was served less than 10 minutes after ordering. This can't be freshly cooked. A pity.

We were given a new room that was being renovated. Unfortunately, the TV was missing and the ventilation in the bathroom didn't work. The room did not have a balcony but had a direct exit to the lake promenade. The food was good value for money unfortunately they only had a temporary waiter as there was apparently a lack of staff. Therefore, the coming guests were also welcomed from 7.30 p.m Rejected reason the kitchen is now closing... So my tip is to reserve a table and make sure you don't get there later than 7 p.m. if you're lucky you'll get dessert.

The beautiful view of Lake Brienz and the mountain panorama are definitely reflected in the price. The quality of the food doesn't really justify the price. Certainly good for a coffee and an ice cream, but for a delicious meal I can't recommend it to the stars. A pity.
