Sternen Grill in Zürich

Had a nice dinner with my Partner at Sternen Grill. Had the classic Bradwurst which was nice. What I did not appreciate was the fact that once I went to pay the Bill a waiter (russian speaker, blonde, male) who was serving us decided to speak to my partner and ask her if she was in a relationship. After she answered yes that she was in a happy relationship, he decided to mention that she should come to the restaurant alone and he would give her a present which she declined. I think it is extremely unprofessional behaviour and also quite wierd behaviour to make such comments in a service industry job. I thoroughly regret tipping 10% and will definitively not be returning. This is how you loose customers due to behaviours of waiting staff I hope he gets reprimanded.

Very popular grilled sausage place. Sitting can be challenging during busy time. The sausage is pretty juicy and nicely grilled. It comes with bread and mustard. The mustard is much stronger than the commercial brands.

Sternen Grill is a fantastic slice of authentic Zürich, great for a quick taste of Swiss-German street food. Pick up a wurst (or currywurst like me) their famous bread roll and a nice drink at reasonable prices. If its a sunny day take it and sit by the Lake for the full experience!

Absolutely worth the wait (which is not as long as it looks). We tried the classic bratwurst with the mustard. There's just a certain quality to it that makes it taste incredibly addicting. The mustard sauce is not for the light-hearted, though. The moment I tasted a bit of it I basically saw my life flash before my eyes.

2023 & 2024 A recommended spot to stop by if you're feeling hungry. You can eat juicy sausage. The bread that comes with it is hard. The curry-flavored sausage has an addictive taste. If I miss sausage again, I'll stop by 🩷 Thank you for the meal 😋✨

I have been coming here every time I visit Zurich for 20 years. An institution and in the full-service restaurant on the upper floor you can even enjoy your bratwurst with a view of Lake Zurich. The house mustard is so great that I always take a few jars with me. Go there and enjoy honest Swiss specialties. No frills, but with even more good quality.

It was good. We came back the same night to get more.

Delicious restaurant. We first ate upstairs at the restaurant and enjoyed it so much we came back the next day to eat downstairs at the more casual bar. Highly recommend the curry wurst which comes with crusty bread perfect for dipping in the sauce. The roast chicken was also delicious if you want a change from bratwurst. Just note that the prices at the restaurant are double what they are downstairs as you are paying for a nice ambience. Also the mustard is no joke, use it carefully!

I read in other reviews that Togo was cheaper, but they actually charged the price of eating inside the store. One sausage and bread costs CHF 8.50. About 1300 yen in Japanese yen. The taste was delicious.

The St. Galler Bratwurst and the Servelat are two Swiss classics 🇨🇭 that you simply have to try 😉. So locals took me to the Sternen Grill in Zurich because they make the best sausages; crunchy, juicy and seasoned, as it should be 💪🏻. I particularly recommend the menu with the potato salad, a golden Bürli (roll) and the classic mustard. Simple but super tasty 🤙🏻. Plus a beer 🍻, some sun, what more do you need? 😜😎

Amazing curry wurst! The bread is fresh and delicious. East to take away and eat on the plaza or next to the lake.

Cool place. In the evening, only the Swiss. Decent prices. Sausage and roll 10 francs. It tastes like a blue nysa sausage near the market hall in Krakow. If you pay in cash, they have a special payment machine. The service doesn't touch the money.

Super fast service and very friendly. I think the veal bratwurst and the fine Bürli with it are really tasty.

You know you're at the best place in town when there is always a line out the door! We enjoy the bratwurst and the schnitzel but really you can't go wrong with anything from their menu. Their senf will clear your sinuses! Friendly and courteous staff and speedy service add to the awesomeness here. Highly recommend!!

Fun stop while in Zurich. Get over the high prices, you are in Zurich, you’ll have a story to tell about paying $8 US for a good bratwurst sans bun etc. Good taste and classic tourist experience. Nice staff. Awkward payment in that it seems / we were told / required to pay separately for food and beer but no big deal. We had the St Galler bratwurst and the Wiediker Schweinsbratwurst along with fries and beer and wine. All good.

Overall, nice place to eat and staff knew good English! Quick service, hot food. Only downside is one of the chicken nuggets. Not really sure what went wrong with it and how it passed quality control. Was too busy to return.

The grill on the ground floor is one of my favorite places for a quick meal in Zurich. I got the St. Galler on my first visit, and liked it so much that I haven’t tried any of the other sausages. The mustard is spicy and like wasabi will make your sinuses and the top your head tingle. I like it others have found it too much. When you the weather is nice there can be a queue of people waiting to order.

The service leaves much to be desired

We stopped for a fine veal bratwurst and a Widiker pork bratwurst with Bürli. Both were very fine. The original star mustard - the hottest Zurich - as the advertising slogan says, is really hot.

Bruzzito sauce: Previously top and a pleasurable experience. Now: taste, color and much more, simply industrial in ALL AREAS. A pity. Not even worthy of 1 star.

I bought a very fine St. Gallen bratwurst there and the seller was very friendly and took it away and then ate it at my house and it was very fine. My second time there and we had the pleasure of being served by Mariana again at the cashier, always patient, nice and with a smile. The bratwurst and fries delicious, and the place very nice to spend some time!! 👍🏼👍🏼

What bothers me is that people ask for tips when paying electronically 😈

Ambience deducted two stars. This is because of the impossible payment terminal. I don't like being forced to give a tip. I give it and also gave it in cash.

I went into the place to have coffee before visiting the abbey. The space is small but cozy. I was surprised by the cheese cake, and the fruits. Delicious latte.

You only go there for the mustard. It's still stunning, everything else is average. Except the prices, which are above average even for Zurich!

The food is always great. The service is friendly and quick. The view is amazing, but the noise level is a little to high.

We experienced that the blue ribbon was a bit burned and also chewie, the grilled chicken was good but a little bit dry. The staffing is was friendly and apologized for it. They put off one drink from the bill. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant has a good view.

Best Cervelat in town. If you have not eaten here, you don't know Zürich.

If there is only one thing you try, I highly recommend it is the Schweinsbratwurst with baguette and sauerkraut! The spicy mustard will really kick you in the sinuses but it is absolutely delicious!

Best sausages i had in my life.

A typical Swiss place for many years, it is very popular, and offers classic street food such as servelat or white bratwusts, a kind of giant sausage but made with quality cuts of pork, unlike the scraps that are used for frankfurters. They are delicious, I've been eating them since I was born because a relative always brings them to me from Liechtenstein. The place is small but has an upper floor, with a few small tables underneath where the turnover of customers is very fast, let's say an environment really like a street sandwich shop. The right environment to have a quick beer and have a chat. When you order food such as servila, everything is given to you directly at the cash register, then you take the self-service bread and do the same with the sauces, let's say everything is simple. Maybe it's because I'm used to Italian prices, but 9 francs for a servant is the base and it seems expensive to me, but it's in line with the prices of all the places here, so nothing unusual. It's a very simple place like it used to be, and I really like it.

St. Galler Brarwurst in traditional way, with simple bread, and mustard (which isnt classic already, and really strong, so I advise you to start with tasting sausage without mustard, and then decide to use or not to use it). A bit to roasting sausage for me, but probably is the classic style. Anyway it’s so pleasant by accident to get new knowledge about local foods.

The sausages have been simply wonderful for decades. The staff is friendly. The prices have become a bit expensive.

Bratwurst, super-hot mustard, Bürli - what more could you want?

A friend of mine who lived in Zurich recommended me to come here. I took 3 types of sausage, the Spezial, the Galler and the Wiediker, adding water and apple juice for a total of 37 francs, oh well we are in Switzerland but not a few. However, the guys at the counter were very kind and nice, the sausages were also good but I have to say that my favorite because it had the strongest flavors and tastiest was the Spezial, then the Wiediker, a little spicy, and lastly the Galler.

OK but overrated and you don't find much space because it is small but it has a good stand Thank you🍀🙏

As a vegetarian, I miss the Hiltl bratwurst, which has probably been taken out of the range - a shame... The falafel in the bread bag tastes good, but a sausage in the star grill would be more the desired meal.

As a Zurich resident, it is a must to visit this legendary place in the city of Zurich regularly. I come to the front stars regularly (alone and with the whole family) and every time it's just great. I recommend anyone who has some time to visit the upper floor (served part). In addition to the classic sausage, they have a fantastic meatloaf in Grossi's style - mega! The host family, the Rosenbergers, are simply friendly, friendly people who do their job with passion. Bravo!

It is a good grill, but in Switzerland you pay for it as if it were a good restaurant. It is still a grill to eat chicken, sausages, Viennese schnitzel, etc... It has consecutive tables, and you may not always like being at the same table with strangers, who, even though it is Switzerland, many speak Spanish -be careful- . Noisy environment. But recommended.

The best St. Gallerbratwurst far and wide! Whenever I'm around I have to have one of these - the mustard goes great with it. Only the Bürli could have a softer crust for my taste. Gladly again and again.

The St. Gallen bratwurst is still almost half white and only moderately warm on the inside, even after correcting it twice with the request “evenly brown, no white spots”. Answer: “Otherwise the sausage will break”. My tip: If you serve the sausage raw, it will definitely remain undamaged. Rush, mass production, mediocre quality, high prices. Seems to be the concept in Zurich.

In 1970 I came to Zurich as a young chef and worked as head chef in the Parmentier restaurant. Even back then, the Sternen Grill in Zurich was something special. The selection of sausages and chicken is still great over the years. The Bürli are of the best quality. I still enjoy coming by.

On ground floor, the atmosphere is very fast foody. Beautiful atmosphere in the upper level though. Service was very nice, motivated and attentive. I had better Currywurst. The sauce was ok. The sausage was very good.

To eat some delicious sausages at any time. The spicy and curry ones are very delicious. Quick attention, price quality is fine. Friendly and you have chairs to eat quietly. It fills up but is fluid.

Good place to eat quickly and at a reasonable price within Switzerland. They have several dishes, although what takes the cake are the sausages. Be careful with mustard because it is bitter and tastes good. If you go for the sausages, and you don't want a table, wait in line. It goes fast and they are pleasant to serve. You can use the tables inside, they are comfortable and the atmosphere is calm.

Nice food, very friendly service. Upstairs you can sit (shared tables) and order traditional swiss food, downstairs it is takeaway only (sausages, falafel), if you are lucky you can rest in a high table. In the summer you can sit outside (upstairs) and enjoy an awesome view. The location is great, however it is still slightly overpriced for what it is.

Historic Zurich brewery - Must to visit

😋 The food is AMAZING!! We tried the brat, sausage, hamburger and fries!! Everything was so good. We will definitely be back before we leave Zurich to eat here again!! The staff was very friendly and inviting to my family of 4 and we are American and they spoke English very well and explained items on the menu. There was a wait in line and it is cold here, we are from Miami, Florida...but we waited and we actually ate our food outside as the place was packed. It's pricey but worth it!! We will definitely be back.

Perfect when things have to be done quickly and you're hungry. Hunger is always satisfied.

Sausage is delicious but beer is expensive.
