Strandbad Lido in Ascona

As of 1st Sept, Lido Ascona confirmed a mistake and apologized over e-mail. As of 29 Aug still no response to my comment or my email. That doesn't look like they willing to react to any problems. On 28.06.2023 at the entrance we paid 48 CHF with a card for two entrance tickets + two chairs, which is higher than was in previous years, but felt okay with overall improvements inside. What was surprising, is that the receipts we got were for a total 38 CHF: two entrance tickets for 10 CHF each and two chairs for 9 CHF each. I've sent them e-mail about this, nobody replied in more than a week.

Extremely expensive. 10.- entry per person. In addition, with the takeover of Seven, everything was geared towards luxury and money is charged for everything. Also loud music from everywhere. A real shame for Ascona. Almost everything now belongs to Seven, which is destroying much of Ascona's old charm.

Very nice beach with live music and many activities - from massage to SUP.

Basically very expensive. The expensive entrance fee includes nothing other than the entrance fee. Diving board cannot be used because there is thick algae underneath. Floating play island for children ten francs per 45 minutes and it is specified when this should be. First now, then fifteen minutes later, then half an hour later… and so on. Very annoying, plus an extremely unfriendly woman as an employee. Public swimming pools make more sense.

It was our favorite pool for years, but now it was no longer affordable as a family with the expensive entrance fee. Simply too expensive for a seaside resort without a pool.

A magnificent location, wonderful beach, fine furniture, sophisticated tents and wonderful furniture. The food, which has been there twice, requires endless patience. We waited about 2 hours for a simple salad that came from the package. This was the first time like this. A completely overwhelmed team is doing its best, but as a customer it's a real nightmare. The focus is more on selling wine than on food. Nevertheless, Lido Ascona is top in terms of style. A fantastic 60's architect. Location a dream.

You pay 10 CHF entry for... nothing. My bikini set was stolen. It's amazing that something like this can happen on a private beach in Switzerland. I also noticed the following negative things: Every day we were treated to loud music from both sides of the Lido. At the fast-food restaurant you wait 30 minutes for 2 dishes. In the other restaurant the music is so loud that you have to shout to communicate. The range of drinks and ice cream is poor, the staff can't speak any foreign languages ​​and is obviously overwhelmed. Depending on where you sit/lie in the so-called VIP area, you will also be smoked by barbecue smoke. The beach is theoretically monitored, but this only applies to a tiny section. The children's playground is smaller than on the public beach. This beach has no advantage over the free beach, except that it is much larger. Because the other beach was always crowded, we went to the private lido just for that reason. Of course, the operator of the private beach takes full advantage of this situation. It's a shame for the beautiful Lake Maggiore and a shame for Ascona.

Everything is very expensive even if the pool is basically nice. Bar 7 or something like that looks great, but when we wanted to sit down at a table the first unfriendly question was whether we had reserved. That in a bathroom?? We then left but then found out that a Cesars salad costs a whopping 32 francs. The loungers in front of the bar also cost 25 francs per day. Everything is just a rip off... I'm going to the public pool again from now on!

Cave-slow restaurant. Unfortunately much worse after the renovation. And expensive swimming pools (30.- for family) for little service and unfriendly staff. A pity.

What looks nice doesn't necessarily have to be good. If you like fancy things, you might feel at home here. But only if you don't mind being bossed around like a slave by the lady at the checkout. It's also an advantage not to be too sensitive to pain, because it's easy for the entrance barrier to hit you very accurately between your legs, and with momentum! This actually happened to me! And I'm not stupid, it's the barrier! My children wanted to go to the swimming island, but were turned back and had to pay an additional 20 francs (!). When they had to put on a life jacket (15 year olds are very good swimmers) the fun finally stopped. In order not to starve, we had to leave this place after an hour because the restaurant was completely booked. By the way, the lido right next door is free and also has a beautiful beach!

The previously obligatory payment card was loaded with cash last year and still had a balance on it -> this year it is no longer valid and the balance is gone! A no-go!

Money credit on the cashless card from last year can no longer be used! Incredible!! And then there is this arrogant way of providing information. What a shame!!

Unfortunately very expensive if it doesn't work with online booking 34.-Fri instead of 22.-Fri for 2 adults and 2 children plus 10.-Fri each for the water play island, as it is a private provider. Also order food with your cell phone. Simply lost if you don't keep up with the times...

The extremely unfriendly lady at the checkout at the entrance ripped us off. Demanded 8 CHF more than the receipt!! Unfortunately, we noticed too late. Hey NEVER AGAIN.

Very nice beach with a sandy beach, not many people, just like in Italy with waves, just wonderful out there. What else needs to be known: it doesn't have any lockable wardrobes so be careful, otherwise large restaurant with playground, showers, very large meadow with ducks visiting 🦆 and a large raft outside to the "Sünnele". "You can easily walk into Lake Maggiore, even little ones can learn to swim there 😉.

Order discounted AHV tickets -> update after one day! When you finally receive the registration confirmation, things go even faster. After payment, you will receive the QR tickets for your cell phone as a PDF within a minute. NB The lady at the checkout was very friendly and helpful 5+ stars New in 2023: Prices increased, but an incredibly sad online booking system, "complicated/weak" --- complicated and "fast" means that you wait a day for a registration confirmation and then still don't have a season ticket (I am still waiting) ....and then only with a cell phone (I don't take it to the Lido) or print out a PDF, but who has a "cell phone printer" on vacation. Absolutely everything is unusable!!! zero stars

A year ago, family admission (4 people) was CHF 12.00, now with the change of ownership we are now at CHF 30.00! Children are more expensive at CHF 6.00 than pensioners at CHF 5.00! Sorry, these prices are incomprehensible! And we don't even have to talk about the prices for the luxury loungers on the left! It's a real shame... we'll also have to look for an alternative for our vacation because it's simply too expensive!

Seaside resort without additional pools. But wonderful sandy beach, stones at the bottom of the lake after about 1m, so bathing shoes are recommended. Admission 6.-- CHF adults, family price 12.-- CHF Highly recommended with children. Nice playground, large lawn. Beach feeling guaranteed. Sanitary facilities ok. Parking lot always fills up quickly in summer. 0.50 CHF/h daily price from 4.CHF/day

The Lido was already closed on August 29, 2022, although according to Ticino Tourism it should be open until the end of August. That fits the picture that the Lido opened too late. As many have already written - when the Lido Ascona is open, you notice how run down it is. Compared to 5 years ago, you get the feeling that only the bare essentials are still in use, the toilets are always dingy, and nothing else is offered. There are two stars for the beautiful sandy beach and the view (if you can still get in).

A very nice natural swimming pool with a lot of free space to relax, there are also shady places under the trees. The water in the lake is quite clean. There is a pier with a jumping bridge, a pontoon a short distance from the shore, great for children's games, and a small children's playground with a sandpit on the shore. A water bouncy castle can be used for a fee. Toilets and showers are available free of charge. In the bar it is possible to have drinks and food at reasonable prices (we had a very tasty pizza). The parking lot in front of the swimming pool is spacious (it is paid), the entrance fee to the swimming pool is low.

Beautiful beach and great access to the lake. However, the Lido lacks the friendliness of the employees (cashier and bar) and the charm and coziness.

6.- Admission is fair, but charging another 10.- per head for the inflatable fun landscape afterwards is ridiculous. The lifeguard sits 20m away from the water and constantly whistles people away. So the Bagno publicco is much more recommended.

Really recommended... suitable for children and babies, the price/performance ratio is also right. Gladly go back.

The Lido Ascona really deserves 5 stars. We were there with our 5-month-old son. Parking fees are cheap, entrance fee isn't expensive either, the restaurant is also recommended and the price/performance ratio is right. We would love to come back...

Cool pools including lake connection and water slides. Bar and sacks and good coffee. Animations for young and old. Unfortunately there are a few shaded areas and not exactly cheap.

Beautiful long sandy beach, a large part without aquatic plants, diving tower, small playground, changing rooms and toilets. And the price is completely ok (12 francs for a family)

Great swimming pool, lots of games and fun for the children. The price is rather high because you have to pay for bouncy castles and the like.

Nice beach resort. Lots of space! Restaurant a disaster, as waiting times for hot dogs or fries were over 20 minutes, depending on the situation. I waited at least 20 minutes each time. Prices are also very expensive (food and entry). A bit too expensive. But definitely worth a visit (just be sure to take your own food!) Almost no to no network reception. You don't need it at the beach, but you wanted to watch the match, no chance.

very bad and unfriendly service. Waiting 20 minutes for an order. Only 8 customers at the bar, 5 employees extremely uncoordinated (except for one male person). After asking about ordering, they said: "She's on vacation and doesn't even live there"! my answer in perfect Italian: if you're interested in whether you're on vacation or local! Waiting 20 minutes for an order is unheard of. Very dirty toilets and the lifeguards preferred to flirt with the ladies rather than concentrate on work. I've been coming here for 45 years. I'm very disappointed! That's probably why there are so few bathers.

Super nice location, clean, friendly service and hosts. Very nice chill meadow, beautiful sandy beach and clear water without seaweed and algae, super well maintained. Perfect for families. There is also a nice playground for the little ones to relax in. Good pizzas We'd love to come back.

Great beach with lots of space and a nice bar. Unfortunately the menu doesn't quite fit the set up. It would be nice if the menu was a little more varied.

Good location, food priced well, but unfortunately not great. Disorganized service and unnecessary waiting times. Still very friendly. Water muddy and lots of stones. Entrance fees are too expensive where, with a lot more love, you can get them for free in the Publico. Please rethink your concept from my perspective.

Lido generally beautiful. Large lawn area. Restaurant: Chicken nuggets were too greasy/weird taste and fries were soggy. Price/performance lousy. Service without motivation despite the shirt: good vibes only... was probably sarcasm..

Cool Badi. Large park with lots of trees. Staff very friendly. No cash. Top up your bade card as a means of payment or credit card. Toilet always clean!! Normal bath food. Always worth a visit.

Beautiful, well-kept swimming pool with many large shady trees. Entry free. It's a shame and a bit incomprehensible that the water park only opens for children at 2 p.m. Therefore only 4 stars.

I can't understand various comments. Toilets are not new but tip top and clean. The beach was beautiful, the food was great and the surroundings were great and well maintained. It's no longer the newest lido but it's worth the price of admission!

Lido has become a ghost town, but if you like quiet, this is the place for you. Free and has access to the Lido communale with toilet, restaurant and kiosk. Where are we going again, we had the beach almost to ourselves, wonderful. Lido is still maintained.

Simply great, free entry and very nice facility

Large green areas. Nice infrastructure with bar, billiards, playground, changing rooms, toilets, and much more. The beach is supervised. Shallow water (approx. 7m inland) so perfect for small children. Raft and diving tower are also available. Large parking lot in front of the Lido. We recommend.

Wonderfully relaxing days spent here. Sunny, pleasant temperatures every day. Good pizzas. Beautiful park with old big trees.

Magnificent but poorly maintained place. This year the service and catering levels have dropped, the tourists I accompanied complained for showers. The girls at the bar are not professional at all, I'm sorry but we're not there.

Kitchen closed at 4 p.m., minimal (non-alcoholic) drink selection and unfriendly or incompetent staff.

Beautiful beach and beautiful lawn. Lots of space. The entrance fee is still reasonable, but the food is expensive. Ice cream Fr. 4.-, all drinks Fr. 4.-. A packed salad of approx. 250 g Fr. 10.-. It's best to take something to eat with you.

Super nice beach with a sandy beach, lots of shade, children's playground, bar, changing rooms. However, there is an entrance fee and right next to it is the free beach in Ascona

Probably the best sand beach in all Switzerland (just before the Vidy-Lausanne plage). Plenty of room, lots of shadows from large trees. When we arrived around 12h00, there were many parking spots free. But all of it has its price and everything costs: parking (4h30, 2.65), entrance (2 adults, one child, 12.-) and sunbeds (8.- each). Note: you can only bathe in the lake, there is no swimming pool. We will return.

A great seaside resort. The entrance fee for us as a family is good at 12 francs. There is a playground, 2 beach volleyball fields and plenty of lawn. The children had great fun.

Very nice place. Paid access for a pretty piece of lake. However, there are plenty of attractions for children: playground, diving board and water games.

Lido is TOP. Space, sand, lake is ✅ Toilet facilities are dirty and unkempt! The catering industry is a complete disaster, too expensive, and the waiting time is so bad... everything needs to be rethought and a new concept needs to be found. Employees don’t know the term “fast” and “motivated”! It's a real shame for such a great place!

Very large, beautiful beach. Everything very clean and well maintained. Huge lawns and wide access to the lake. The family ticket is more than affordable at 12 francs. Class!

This star is for the 2 beach volleyball fields. Kitchen closed at 5:00 p.m. in the nicest weather, waiting in line until you almost put down roots, half of the drinks you wanted (5dl beer, wheat beer) were no longer available. We wanted something to eat at around 5:15 p.m. and ended up taking a wheat beer with us after queuing for 15 minutes. The best thing is that we queued at a menu board where there is no food. The service is really bad and the staff is mostly incompetent.

Badi is quite good. Be careful, if it's too warm, there are often cercariae (duck fleas) in the shallow water! Very uncomfortable!

Anyone who knows the Lido before Corona will be disappointed at the moment. Restaurant and showers close between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., shortly after 8 p.m. at the latest. No more solid atmosphere with good music until late. The range was thinned out, the food was better...

Heavenly place, spacious with great professionals beachvolley courts, greenvolley, watervolley and a lot of space where you may relax on grass or sand, nice events are randomly organized in the evening too

Nice bath! The children loved the bouncy castle. Prices for drinks and food are very fair. Unfortunately, the service (behind the bar) was extremely slow.

When we arrived at around 10:00 a lot of parking spaces were already occupied and there was a long queue in front of the entrance. We couldn't understand why only one of two cash registers was open with so many people. That lunch was delicious. There were a lot of people around midday. Overall good.

The Lido is very nice. The food was very good. Too bad the sand is very dirty and there are no games to play. The billiard table was broken (who knows how long ago)...

Beautiful and well-kept facility, great infrastructure, low entrance fee. Very well occupied during the summer holidays, but spread out quite well.

It's just next to the public swimming area and the entrance costs CHF 6 per adult. The beach was not clean when I was there, thus the money was not well spent. Recommend just go to the free public area.

The Lido Ascona offers a very spacious lawn, various sports options (football, table tennis, diving tower,...) and a large bar. Whether active or chiller mode, the Badi is the ideal place for warm summer days. In addition, the staff is extremely friendly😃👍

The Lido itself is nice. The discreet restaurant. The staff partly catastrophic. They make a mistake in taking the order but (naturally without any excuse or reference to a misunderstanding) they want to be right at all costs. They seem unorganized and more busy showing off. The sandwiches are already finished at 12.01. But the restaurant opens at 12 and no one has ordered them. Hallucinating.

For the 6.00 entry fee, the restaurant/bar only had fries and pizza available, even though there was MUCH more on the menu. Very disappointing.

Beautiful large meadow with many shady trees. A small sandy beach leads into the water; there are only a few stones in the sand in the water. It has a small bistro and kiosk. Unfortunately, the toilets are not that well maintained (not very clean, doors that don't close, etc.)

The system would have received 5 stars for me: Entrance fee 6.- / facility super nice / water island diving tower / easy entry into the water / toilet was clean The food was bad: 1 star or even 0 The kitchen was closed so you could choose between a triangle sandwich and 2 small mixed salads, which could be purchased for 3chf in the COOP, these were sold for 9CHF?!? At this overpriced price, it's not even served nicely, on the contrary, it's given to you in a plastic packaging, there wasn't even a small bread roll included, and no one was fed up with it. I was actually really happy about the salad punch back then and told my friends that the food was great... It's a shame, I hope this is just a consequence of Corona and will be improved for next year!

They don't even deserve one star. Closing a facility with the excuse "weather damage." I didn't see any damage. Angry and disappointed tourists and locals!!!! But you can, we are in full season.,. What a shame

Very beautiful and well-kept Lido for swimming, everyone gets their money's worth here, whether in terms of bathing or culinary. Very nice beach with a sandy beach and a great restaurant. You should just try the pizzas, wonderful. In terms of price, it's on the higher side, but you also get something for your money.

Beautiful lido, very correct prices, both entry and external parking lots. Bar and restaurant to be improved, definitely uninviting the second. Structure a little too Germanocentric ... but it still remains better than Lugano.
