Sutter Begg – Bäckerei, Konditorei & Café in Riehen

Actually, Dr Sutter was great, but I can smell it...mmhhh, I don't know. To avenge this racist injustice, I'll have to try a blonde wig.

our favorite Begg in the neighborhood. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented. My favorite is the Linzertörtli for a strong sugar shot!

Unsmiling staff, my chocolate was not hot enough

So last Saturday we were in Riehen at Webergässchen at Sutter Begg for coffee and a Paillasse Grec. What irritated me to some extent is the fact that I'm sitting next to the coffee cup on the I found a HUG biscuit on the saucer!!! This is just unreal? Or?? A clear reason for us not to visit the Sutter Begg anymore, I can also have the HUG Guetzli there get coop! What a shame!

Unfortunately, I experience again and again that the service has deteriorated significantly. In other words, the friendliness of the employees and they seem very unmotivated to me. I also think the service should be brought back to the tables given the prices.

Shop for bakery and confectionery products with a café. Rather in the upper price segment. Open on Sundays.

All the employees are very warm, funny and well-positioned. I like to go there every morning. A big compliment.

I have been a regular customer at Sutter Begg in Riehen for a long time. I am very impressed not only by the offer, but also by the good team. Everyone works professionally and friendly, even in hectic times. The team spirit is also positive. My heartfelt thanks go to all of you. I hope self-service is maintained. For coffee and some cake, it's good. nothing I would go to for a brunch. For me, the selection is a bit small for brunch.

SERVICE PLEASE! I've always preferred Sutter because I've been coming there for years. Staff is friendly, coffee is very good and bread/patisserie is excellent. Well, I'd rather go next to where you're served. This changes the atmosphere immediately and the service is an important part of enjoying a small coffee. Mr. Sutter, save money somewhere else and give us the friendly service again...

CHF 5.50 for a 2.5dl ovo is crazy.

Limited selection on weekends at Wegglis. At 9 a.m. there is little available and a lot is sold out. Happens every weekend. When suggestions for improvement are made, the staff reacts annoyed and unfriendly. Cheese is very bad in pretzel rolls. It doesn't taste like anything and is old.

After dropping off one of my children at daycare, I still had 45 minutes until I could drop my other child off at her daycare. I decided to have breakfast here. It was raining and there was limited seating. When I arrived I put my bag and dog at the table where we would be eating. I walked in and ordered breakfast for myself and my four-year-old daughter. We were still having breakfast when a worker here said I had to leave because another customer wanted to sit there. She said I had no right to sit at that table because I ordered to "leave." I've never been asked whether I should order or leave here, and no one told me that I had to order so I could sit at the table here. I mean, the only difference is whether I get a tray or not. I left and my daughter and I waited outside her daycare for 15 minutes when we were able to spend some time at the table. I will never come to this bakery again, nor any other Sutter.

Loved the coffee and chocolate donut. Will be heavenly when we can sit down!!!

Edit: Aug 2020 A change in personnel has greatly improved this bakery. In addition to that it seems that the options have also gotten better - at least now you can get an amazing vanilla gipfeli on the weekend. So I am changing my review from 1 to 4 stars. There is only one reason to go here and that’s because it’s the only bakery in Riehen centre. It’s pretty clear that the staff doesn’t want you in there. The first time I assumed they were having a bad day, but it’s the same every time I find myself in there.

I have been a long-time guest at Caffè Sutter in Riehen. Now customers have to wait in line to order. A lot of older people, like me, are 82 years old and operate themselves so that staff can be saved. No thanks Sutterleitung. There is also caffe brändli next door. C. Baerwart

Warm welcome, the service is fast. The quality of the products is excellent and wonderfully delicious . Nice place for the gourmands and for those who with to spend pleasant time smith family or friends. I recommend this place

Pastries and drinks etc. are good. But the staff is very inattentive. Was there recently and sat outside. Felt like 15 minutes. It went until someone came to take the order, every time I tried to make eye contact but everyone looked away.

Two weeks ago, we drank coffee and ate a delicious pastry in this lovely bakery. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The sandwich is ok, but the cappuccino is simply bland. The cafe seating was definitely not busy (about 1/3 full), so I decided to take a sit while being mindful of the volume of patrons who might need seats. After a few minutes, the Cafe lady asked me to go away because the food I ordered are in takeaway packages (at least this is what I understood from her German and her hand gestures). Definitely not the best of experiences as a first-timer in Switzerland.

Before the renovation, I liked it better, even though (or perhaps because of) it was cramped but comfortable. I can't drink coffee in this restaurant because I don't like it at all. The fresh orange juice is very good. The bakery has a variety of very good breads. July 1, 2019: Wanted to buy a small pastry; However, it only had 1 piece left from the previous day. I had to pay the full price, even though this pastry didn't taste as good for a long time on the second day: I know the difference very well thanks to my many years of experience.

We came here after voting. Very nice. Newly remodeled and about double the size of the original store. Larger bakery and cafe with lots of tables and a kids corner. Now open on Sundays, although the website is not yet updated.
