We were able to celebrate my mother's eightieth birthday at the Tobelhof. We were eight people and one dog, of course we reserved well in advance. The service staff looked after the older people professionally and empathetically. Despite a full house and several parties, our orders arrived quickly and everyone was able to enjoy their courses together. The food was very good, the portions were generous, luckily the seniors were able to choose small portions. The little birthday attention rounded off the visit wonderfully. Thanks to the Tobelhof team for the wonderful afternoon.

Very nice restaurant, I was there about 35 years ago and it was still recognizable. So it hasn't been renovated beyond recognition. Service very nice and professional. Good rustic food.

Very friendly welcome, courteous service staff, inviting atmosphere, wonderful food in generous portions. Good mix of classic and original dishes, with great attention to regional products, which I really appreciate. The homemade ice cream is a hit :-) Be sure to reserve a seat as the restaurant is always busy.

I like the restaurant a little better in summer than in winter - the atmosphere is really special. There is also plenty of parking space right next to the restaurant. Unfortunately my Tournedos Rossini was grilled too much... otherwise everything was excellent. The view was once again amazing.

We were there for a sad time but unfortunately the food was also a bad time today. Service was overwhelmed and we had to wait over an hour for the food, which unfortunately happened accordingly. It was really disappointing because we remember the old Tobelhof differently,

We were booked as a band for a birthday party at the RESTAURANT ALTER TOBELHOF & CHÄSALP in Zurich. Playing there was just fantastic. The catering team, led by Pascal Käser, was outstanding – incredibly attentive and extremely friendly. We felt very comfortable from the first moment. The RESTAURANT ALTER TOBELHOF & CHÄSALP itself is a true pearl, picturesquely located on the hill in Zurich. The cuisine and the location are absolutely first class. I recently had a "Fondueplausch" (Swiss German term for a cheese fondue lunch or dinner) at Alter Tobelhof. The charming restaurant serves many delicious meals and is specialized in cheese fondue. We enjoyed a variety of fondues (different cheeses, with herbs, with Champagne etc.). I think I tried 5 and they were all delicious. The dessert (ice cream with zabaglione) was very good, too. The staff at were very friendly and showed great competence. Thank you for your excellent service. The setting of the restaurant is pleasant. I wouldn't call it cozy though. The night I was there, the restaurant was crowded and I wish there was more space between the tables. Also, the noise level was a bit high. To be fair, we were a big group and I don't know if the atmosphere is cozier and more intimate when it's less crowded. We had a great night, with outstanding service and meal quality, and therefore I'm giving Alter Tobelhof a 5-star rating.

Always a great experience during game season: delicious and cleverly prepared dishes and friendly and attentive service. Of course it can get a little louder inside when it's really crowded, but that's the way it is...

New Year's Eve without a festive atmosphere, only the service was very nice, the food was bad, unseasoned fish and bland risotto, meat so rich in fat that half of it was inedible. Price/performance is not right here at all. At the turn of the year we were sent out 24 hours ago to "watch the fireworks in the city below". Despite the cold, not even the fireplaces were lit (they would have been ready). All in all, not really recommended.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Milan!

Only stopped in for a Gluwein after a Sunday afternoon walk. We didn’t eat but the food looked and smelled delicious. Service was very friendly. Their next door fondu stübli (Chäsalp) also looked great.

Went to Tobelhof for lunch with a business colleague. The atmosphere was pleasant and the food (menu) was top notch. Only the waitress (Arienn?) could have been a little more hospitable in our opinion. We still enjoyed our lunch.

It's a great restaurant in Gockhause/ZH. In summer it has a beautiful garden area and you can enjoy it outside. The Chäsalp fondue and raclette area are part of it, but are nicely demarcated in the old one. Ideal for groups.

Unfortunately, the service staff is completely overwhelmed. I also had to order my drink three times before it was served. Sliced ​​meat became schnitzel. Deer entrecote became beef entrecote. Pork cordon bleue became beef. After I pointed out the errors, we were offered something and the waiter insisted that he give me the venison entrecote packaged to take home with me. I couldn't convince him that I didn't want that (letting pink, undercooked meat slowly cool down and reheating it again the next day is not a good idea in my opinion!). Plus point: beautiful place, lovely table decorations/flowers, the food tasted good (even if we ordered something else)

The food was very nice and the outdoor seating very pleasant with an excellent view. Unfortunately the portions were unreasonably small and unfulfilling. I laughed in disbelief when I saw the amount of meat served in some of the dishes. I would visit again just for the nice ambience and maybe a snack or dessert.

We were guests on a sunny Saturday evening. Having often experienced chaotic or sloppy service in the past, I was prepared for anything as the place was obviously packed. But I was positively surprised... The beautiful garden ambience was rounded off with perfectly coordinated service and kitchen performance, excellent fresh cuisine with a high quality standard and efficient service.

Food was good but not great - I have had better. Rösti is definitely not one of my favorites there and I'll choose another side next time.

We received a warm welcome in the beautifully located Tobelhof. The scenery, including cows, is wonderful. The service was ok, a bit inattentive, rice with the curry only came after we pointed it out, additional sauce for the mashed potatoes was given to the person with the curry, just a bit careless in this beautiful place. The Arabic lentil dish on pepperoni was a bit bland, I thought there would be exciting Arabic scents/spices with it. The Cordon Bleu looked like a puffed up fish stick but tasted good. The meatloaf with mashed potatoes looked good, the mashed potatoes were a bit firm. Tiramisù for dessert was very good.

I booked a table for 4 people 5 days in advance. reserved. Apparently the restaurant was very busy, we then got a table in the next restaurant (Chäsalp), the service was overloaded, it was only after 15 minutes that we received the menu and were finally allowed to order something to drink. Service very polite, but just overloaded. Our table neighbors had also made a reservation 5 days ago, their table was also limited by a small cart, and they then left the restaurant again due to poor seating and slow service. >> If I reserve early, I expect a table in the main part, not between the two restaurants and in front of the toilet entrance!!

Really very good food, the absolutely empty plates that went back to the kitchen spoke for themselves. The restaurant is simply and elegantly furnished, with an (artificial) unobtrusive flower arrangement at the head of each table, tasteful tableware and pretty table runners. Everything fits. The service seemed a bit confused to me. Although everything was professionally written down according to seating when we took the order, we had to ask who got it for each plate. A starter was completely forgotten and my advice that I don't drink wine was ignored. The two different types of bread served with the salad (with a wonderfully fresh dressing) were very tasty, but I found the mustard served with it (also delicious with a subtle spiciness and sweetness at the same time) and the cocktail sauce rather irritating; I would have preferred traditional butter. My fish with lemon herb risotto and saffron sauce was very tasty, as was the lamb fillet, which I was able to taste. The latter was visually the most elaborate dish. The puff pastry for apple strudel was already on the menu, so it wasn't a surprise. The ratio of dough to content was very disappointing, as was the choice of apple (too sweet). Next time I'll have a panna cotta. The coffee was convincing again. Of course, if it hadn't rained, it would have been magical outside in the shade of the plane trees. We will be back.

We found this cute restaurant by chance and at a late hour. At the entrance there is this large and beautiful outdoor terrace, well-kept trees decorated with lights provide shade over the tables where you eat, then there is, in an upper part, a piece of land with sofas for perhaps having an aperitif. We were served by a very nice and friendly waiter named Adam who was very attentive and always very kind and smiling from the beginning to the end of our arrival. Well done 👏 Good food, with delicate and perfect care of the plate. The photo of the couscous salad, very fresh and perfect, and the dessert are missing: grandma's recipe super approved!!!!! We will definitely return to try other dishes and enjoy the sofas. However, I would recommend always keeping it clean from dry weeds, which are too tall. At the entrance it is important that it is very clean, as well as the strip that separates the restaurant from the relaxation area, but I am sure it will be done, because it is too beautiful to leave it like this.

The perfect place to relax as it takes a while to be served. The food was perfect, the service was friendly and the ambience was simply wonderful. The lounges on the summer meadow invite you to linger.

We had lunch in the garden. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambience in the garden is really beautiful and peaceful. And most importantly, the food was excellent.

My hard of hearing husband, my 93 year old mother and I were in the renovated back room. We really like the bright room with the gray walls and the curtainless windows that offer a view of the garden restaurant with the beautiful old trees. The downside was that communication between us was a little more difficult, especially since the room was full. The staff was a bit stressed (which we could understand), but friendly and correct. We really enjoyed the food. We really appreciate the fact that you can order smaller portions, as our capacity is no longer that large. My mother was happy to take the second schnitzel of the smaller portions home with her. We had a fine aperitif with grapefruit juice. Unfortunately, these glasses are far too big and heavy! My old mother could barely hold her glass. We'll be back, but not on a festival day, and if possible on a warm, windless summer day so that we can enjoy the extremely beautiful garden restaurant.

We were able to celebrate my father's special birthday on May 21st, 2023 with 8 people in the old Tobelhof. We were lucky with the weather and were able to enjoy lunch in the wonderful garden. The atmosphere there is very cozy and uncomplicated. The welcome was very warm and the service was courteous, professional and friendly. The food was very tasty from the starter to the main course to the dessert. My dad even got a birthday dessert with a sparkler! Very attentive ! He also received a gift and a card with congratulations from the restaurant! We spent a wonderful day. Perfect all around! We recommend. Thanks to the whole team!

The restaurant is a popular destination for die-hard Zurich residents who feel obliged to enjoy country lifestyle every now and then without having to venture dangerously far from the city. Seriously: it's a gem and a hit, especially on warm summer days - even for non-city residents. The small card seems to be deliberately kept down to earth. Gordon bleus and bratwurst can be found as well as ghackets and croissants and meatloaf the way great-grandma did. Yes, it is a little more expensive than other country restaurants, but the quality is good to excellent. The wine list seems to me to be well thought out and they add their own accents to the drinks for the aperitif.

I brought work colleagues visiting from Mexico and the US and we had such excellent service and food. It is Spargel season and I wanted my colleagues to experience excellent quality local food and I love the seasonal menus. Our waitress Adrienn was amazing. She really gave us 5 star service helping us choose (and taste) a good Swiss white wine to go with our dinner. The atmosphere was cozy and I had called ahead to ask for a corner table where we could talk more easily and everything was ready when we arrived. I had hoped to hike through the forest to get to dinner but the weather didn’t cooperate. Still, my guests could see what a wonderful atmosphere is provided to guests and they said this was so much nicer than going to a “typical corporate dinner”. Thanks to Adrienn and the entire team in the kitchen and on the floor, my out-of-town guests are taking home a great memory of their evening out in Switzerland. Really super service and food!!! I will be back (and I will bring friends). Thanks Adrienn and team Tobelhof. Alles war Tip Top!

We met for the third time for a retreat at the Alten Tobelhof and felt very comfortable. The Hofstube is perfect for small groups, the staff is very attentive, the food is very good - we would love to come back.

We chose Alter Tobelhof to host a lunch for the baptism of our daughter. I honestly can't think of a single thing that I would change! The location is superb, the room was beautiful, the food was delicious! Adam did an excellent job with the service and our guest gave us great feedback!! Prior to the event, the communication with Pascal was flawless! They were very flexible and patient and offered us a large variety of options to choose from! Last bur not least, the food portions were very filling! ( the food Portion is always an issue for us in Zurich as we find them usually very small) I can absolutely recommend them and we will definitely go back again! 😊

The food excellent. The staff very attentive and accommodating. However, the hall is very loud when it is full. Not everyone likes that. When it's warm you can eat outside. Then the mood is wonderful.

Crispy salad, fine food, tender meat, the quality and cleanliness of this shop is TOP, I've been here a few times and I can confirm it's perfect! In addition, me and my friend were always warmly welcomed as if we were at home! Again and again 🥇
