The “new” tropical house is an absolute failure. The entrance area looks dreary and desolate, which is rightly emphasized by the poor caged turkeys in the former greenhouse next door. For me it's animal cruelty! When it comes to service you can see that there is no trained staff. Although the prices on the menu hope for more! The cocktails are a disappointment, every home would conjure up more authentic cocktails. There was no trace of mint or cane sugar in the mojito, but there was plenty of white industrial sugar and ice cubes. The house tea is a sweetened fruit tea, which the school children also prepare in class. The food: well… not for this price tag. The owner is letting this current tropical house fall into disrepair. Many plants have been blessed early. Instead, he sits out with a can of Red Bull and a cigarette instead of getting going and turning things around. On the occasion of a birthday party, we experienced a wonderful culinary and gastronomic day here. The food and the surroundings are unique. In the tropical atmosphere we enjoyed freshly prepared, wonderful dishes and were treated to attentive service. We can highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Delicious food at this popular restaurant. Great service with a smile from attentive staff. It was a shame that the place wasn't open until 16.00 on a Saturday (when I visited). This meant that the place was very dark (in Wintertime), to walk through. So my partner and I couldn't see much. The food itself was wonderful and the portions were just right. One more bugbear was that the nearest parking is about a 15 minute walk away. This was not welcome on a cold Winter evening.

We had our Christmas dinner with around 40 people in the tropical house and everyone was thrilled! Atmosphere, temperature, plants and first of all the fine food! Highly Recommended! There was also room for unforeseen events and they were implemented with confidence.

The atmosphere is great, you feel like you're on vacation somewhere in the tropics. The food is very well cooked, there is a varied selection on the menu and the staff are very friendly and attentive. I would love to come back.

It was a complete coincidence, I didn't know that we had the tropical house just around the corner. The food is an absolute dream!! The location, like on vacation/tropics. You can forget your worries for once. I was even allowed to drive to the restaurant because I have walking difficulties, despite the driving ban and thanks to Mr. Weber's advice. We were able to celebrate a wonderful wedding in the tropical house on October 14th. Tinu and Cristina understood what our ideas were from the start, responded very well to our special requests and implemented them perfectly. We were even able to integrate our flambéed Bananas Foster from New Orleans into the dessert buffet. We couldn't have asked for a better location! Our wedding in the tropical house was unforgettable! Everything worked perfectly and our guests were just raving about it! It was exactly as we dreamed. The collaboration with our other service providers, such as technology, band and decoration company, also worked great. Photos to follow!

Real holiday feeling and very fine food!

We received a very friendly welcome in autumnal temperatures. The menu includes very tasty dishes. The baked celery is also highly recommended. After a tour among the tropical plants, there was room for a sweet ending.

We were able to experience a professional tour. Real red curry herb. Cinnamon tree and Red Jamajca Banana. Our meal Stroganov with spaetzli. Very fine and recommended as an insider tip.

It was an incredible wedding that we were able to experience in the tropical house. From start to finish everything was so uncomplicated and smooth that our wishes and ideas were implemented effortlessly. The food that was served was simply incredible - every bite a real treat! Small but nice. It's easy to endure, if you live in the region it's quite good for a short trip. Bus station in front of the house. But the bus rarely runs. Parking spaces at the hospital and a 10-minute walk away.

Great atmosphere, food was excellent, relaxed atmosphere. Ideal location for extraordinary weddings. Tinu and his team did a fantastic job.

Great place to stop by and have a great time. Between courses you can watch the turtles in the jungle or enjoy a drink in a cozy lounge. The food was also great. The vegetables could have been cooked a little more, otherwise they were great. The location is terrific. The food also suits the location and the service is very friendly and accommodating. Tip: Don't dress too warmly, it's 35 degrees inside.

We celebrated our wedding on May 5th, 2023 with a civil wedding, aperitif and dinner in the tropical house. It was terrific! The location for a wedding is absolutely perfect! We discussed everything with Martin and Christina in advance and everything worked out wonderfully! Even my wish for a “chill corner” was fulfilled! Exactly as we imagined! THANKS!! Service absolutely TOP!! 1,000 thanks to the Tropenhaus team for the unforgettable day, which we will always remember!!

We had our wedding in this great location. Unfortunately, planning with the employees was anything but easy...From our side, it would be nice if they could work on this criticism...We wouldn't do it a second time. Nevertheless, the tropical house is a fantastic location.

Escape the hustle and bustle and the nasty weather for a few hours and enjoy the holiday feeling... we were able to do that last night in the tropical house. After the exciting and educational tour of the tropical house and an aperitif in the "Jungle", we were able to enjoy a delicious dinner. The menu is manageable, but the quality and taste of the food is very good. We would be happy to visit this tropical island again.

It was a wonderful feast. Very nice communication in advance, extremely attentive service on site, very fine food, quiet atmosphere and good value for money... including a walk through the tropics. Our guests were also very satisfied. Immediately and with pleasure again.

We were there for the first time recently for Sunday brunch. You cannot park your car directly in front of it, but should park down by the hospital parking lot. You don't walk 5 minutes. on foot or by bike. We were welcomed very friendly. The staff is very attentive and friendly. There was a buffet with various... Bread, plaited bread and croissants, a small selection of cheese and cold cuts, waffles, muesli and fruit. New things were constantly being served, so it didn't last longer than about 15 minutes. was standing? Of course it's nice and warm in the tropical house, hence the t-shirt. A small tropical garden was created where you can look around. There are also 5 turtles roaming around freely. Children have to solve small tasks. Gladly again.

We got married in the tropical house. The location itself is beautiful. You feel like you're on vacation. Unfortunately, the entire staff changed during our planning phase. It was a disaster. Ms. Friedli was great and had planned everything with us in detail but unfortunately she was suddenly no longer there. We were not informed about various important changes (such as the closure of the Sandarena, our wedding venue). We didn't get a response to emails for at least two weeks. The service staff was very friendly but some of the food was still frozen. The evening before, the staff wanted to change the entire table arrangement because they noticed it could be a bit tight. Our family still had to change everything because nothing was as planned. So it's a complete disaster to plan and you need a lot of nerve. Really a shame...

The food was fantastic and very stylishly prepared. You practically eat in the tropical house, surrounded by the plants. A great atmosphere and very friendly. It is advisable to reserve in advance so that you can get a place. In addition to the restaurant, there is also a bar in the tropical house where you can drink cocktails.

It is clear that the tropical house alone is worth a visit because of the flora and fauna. However, you can also comfortably eat a dessert and sip a drink.

My visit on March 12, 2023 I was visiting with my family and I really enjoyed it. Recommended for everyone who loves nature and wants to learn about tropical plants or just enjoys. Friendly to all types of visitors, including children. There are puzzles and stories for young and old. Just a cocktail bar with friendly, cosmopolitan, personable service. A restaurant that offers brunch on Sundays and you can eat well. The staff is courteous and friendly, very attentive. Unfortunately the service didn't work at all for us and we had to send the food back to the kitchen twice. It's a shame, we were there a year ago and it was great, but unfortunately it's a bit disappointing.

We had a cozy evening with fine food in the tropical house. We enjoyed the aperitif in the lounge. Indoors, tropical with a view of the snowy landscape, was a special feeling. The food was excellent. Despite the full house, there was no sense of hecticness. We were pampered and went on a short vacation. Thank you!

The service was attentive and friendly! The ambience is unique, you eat in the jungle, beautifully decorated. I personally didn't like the food. I didn't expect that there would be pure 08.15 Swiss cuisine in the Tropenhaus. The prices are high for the rather small portions. The pork schnitzel was ultra thin...

The visit far exceeded our expectations. As soon as you enter the hall you feel like you are in another world. The scent in the air is reminiscent of distant countries and the paths through the tropical garden are like being in a holiday destination. At the bar we were treated to southern drinks by a charming lady who tasted delicious. In the restaurant there was an orchid on every table, which added to the holiday atmosphere. The service in Kerstin's restaurant was very friendly and warm. The food was excellent and an experience for all the senses. The chef fulfills every wish and pampers the guests with products from the tropical garden. Many thanks to Mr Weber and the whole team for the great experience. We'd love to come back!

The tropical house is very beautiful. Holiday atmosphere. My girlfriend and I don't often have a day in which we can do something and we were really looking forward to it. But, for whatever reason, maybe I'm too stupid or too reserved. No service came to us in the restaurant. They looked at us. They served guests who came after us, but they didn't come to us. I do not know why? Our good mood was destroyed and it hurt somehow. I've only heard good things and I'm not complicated, just an introvert. will never come again.

The perfect bad weather program in winter. It was very cozy, interesting and not too warm. Impressive tropical world! The restaurant had the best homemade iced tea I've ever had.

A beautiful place that is worth preserving. You feel like you're on vacation when you sit in the lounge sipping cocktails and you can even buy tropical plants for your home :-) Unfortunately, one point deducted from the food, not because of the taste because it was very tasty, just because of the selection, which is more reminiscent of a village baiz. Nevertheless, we always like to come back for a nice conversation, a great atmosphere and, last but not least (even if one person doesn't bring much) for support. As much effort, cost and passion as you put into this simply needs to be supported. We're moving our next team meeting there because we're nearby :)

Beautiful tropical garden where you can discover and experience a lot. With the built-in game "Standyl Morten the missing explorer" it's an experience for the whole family. The team is always expanding and new parts are constantly being created. The food is in the upper price segment, but highly recommended!

Here I only rate the restaurant: For me it was a complete disaster here as far as the food was concerned. It didn't suit my taste. Bratwurst and Rösti in a local restaurant would have also worked and would definitely have been cheaper.

There are many edible plants to look at in this tropical house. Also an educational chili route. And in the restaurant, which is integrated into the tropical house, you can enjoy the fruits while eating. Directly accessible by public transport. If you come by car you have to walk about 15 minutes. There are parking spaces at the hospital.

We were in the tropical house for the first time today and we are thrilled. The employees are very friendly and take a lot of time. My son was allowed to feed the turtles and get to know some of the insects better. A great experience, we will definitely become regular guests :-)

Parking is at the hospital. There would be a bus for a short distance. The exhibition is very interesting.

Went there for dinner today. Very ingenious cuisine, excellently coordinated dishes, great products, perfectly processed. Great team in service and in the kitchen. Absolutely a must for anyone who loves very good food. The wine that is offered with the meal is very good. I could also imagine a beer accompaniment with local beers. It's always a matter of taste. Great ambience and a wonderful evening.

Wonderful place for plant lovers. I saw 3 big turtles that day while I was wandering. Also, I had dinner there. Every dish is creative and was decorated beautifully. The price is affordable. The ambience and the service is very nice and kind. Will definitely go back there for romantic dinner again

A piece of the tropics, in the middle of central Switzerland. A few free-roaming leopard tortoises, display terrariums with lots of exotic insects and of course lots of tropical plants make it possible to have a pleasant time. You can end your visit in the restaurant with pleasant temperatures under a green roof! Delicious souvenirs can be purchased in the shop! It's worth a visit at any time!

Fresh green papayas straight from the tree. Thanks to the garden team for always letting us choose for ourselves. By the way, the variety is great for Thai papaya salad.

The tropical house is worth a visit, especially with children. In the greenhouse next door there is a brilliant selection of chili plants from all over the world. You can also buy various products from the tropical house in the shop.

15 francs is too expensive. For the insects, the information screens were broken in more than half of them. And in the restaurant you have to wait a long time and the service staff are inattentive.

You always feel like you're on vacation.

We got to know the tropical house at an exciting event. We had the opportunity to get to know the insect collection and some of the tropical flora - supplemented by lots of interesting information from the expert staff. At the end we spontaneously decided to have dinner in the restaurant and didn't prepare it for a moment. The kitchen conjured up so many great things on the plates and used various ingredients from the tropical garden. A visit is highly recommended and we look forward to stopping by again soon.

We liked it very much. On a little expedition with the kids and then a delicious drink in the restaurant, that's how it has to be. :) Staff, whether at the checkout, the animal keeper or the waitress in the restaurant...everyone is super friendly and accommodating. Infrastructure is well maintained and the toilets are clean. I would only deduct half a star for the fact that you can't park directly in front of the front door. But a short walk in the fresh air, around 800m up the hill, doesn't do any harm to us healthy people. People with walking disabilities are of course expressly allowed to drive up. For those who are really lazy, public transport is also ramping up. Conclusion: All in all, a very successful afternoon with many exotic impressions. We would love to come by again.

A real insider tip! The ambience and cuisine exceeded all expectations: you eat surrounded by the plants from which the great dishes are created, all in all a unique experience! We were able to get to know the chefs who helped grow and care for papaya, star fruit, vanilla, etc. and who clearly conveyed their enthusiasm for the material to our plates - huge praise to the whole team, we'll be back!

Great tropical house, ideal for warming up in winter 😎 and immersing yourself in a distant world for a few hours. It has an exciting and quite tricky postal run, which our children particularly enjoyed. The highlight was the giant sandpit in the greenhouse.
