Excellent coffee, delicious pastries, all organic / local / fair trade. Actually the atmosphere was OK, but I wasn't feeling comfortable with 2 things : - people not being made aware they should close the side door (which is also the stair-free entrance) once they used it. Sounds ridiculous, but a reminder may help! This cosy and warm place is getting cooled down with draught (which is sad in winter) - Toilets were not really clean (probably due to the fact that everything is opened for everyone all the time, and I can understand you don't have the personal to go cleaning every hour) However, will be a pleasure to come visit you back soon

Great bar! Despite a lot of stress, the service was friendly. In addition to great drinks, it also offers events for cozy get-togethers and a great atmosphere!

I know it is a popular place, in my honest opinion it is majorly overhyped. Coffee is okay, but nothing special, way too crowded, service is okay but not particularly good or friendly. When I am there I feel like it is only a popular place because locals make it seem like one not because the place itself can offer you anything special. 7 chf for an okayish cappuccino is very expensive, I think. For show offs and those who need an ego booster, I definitely recommend.

Superb café in an old store, delicious coffee and cakes, downside quite noisy and little service for the number of tables. Order at the bar.

You can also get a seat here for brunch on Sundays. The market hall atmosphere is cool and there is delicious food with good value for money. The coffee was particularly good. However, it is self-service. The free water dispenser was also a big plus.

The flour soup was too expensive and unfortunately didn't taste like flour soup. 2 x flour soup and 2 x onion consecration: 36 CHF. If it's good - OK. But unfortunately that wasn't the case.

A very good place for a little break

An atypical place, located in the lobby of a bank, with a warm and bohemian atmosphere. Mouthwatering pastries and pastries. Open all day for breakfast, meals, aperitifs or snacks. And reasonable prices. A nice place.

Very crowded and loudly. The beverages and desserts are not special. It can be one of the alternative but could be perfect thinking other ones as well.

Group of four for a quick coffee. Cashier/waitress didn't get the whole order right, had to wait for reorder, tore apart our small group of four, so e had cold coffee, others still waiting...

Great place to relax or have meetings with friends, coworkers

I was at UM on Sunday and had a cappuccino with oat milk and a vegan carrot cake, photos attached. Was delicious! Unfortunately, the toilet wasn't the cleanest, but it was really busy. I can't say much about the service as I was at the self-service counter. I paid 11.30 CHZ for the two things.

This cafe right in the heart of Basel City is super. It is very well located and we can Reach it on foot or with the Tram (city train). The prices are good and comfortable. It has bathrooms and is a super nice place to meet up to chat with friends or have a date with someone. It does not have parking because it is in the “no cars” zone. Nearby is the Storchen parking lot. Recommended

Always a charming place with large and comfortable spaces. The coffee and cappuccino are good even though they have "Swiss" prices, the staff is friendly and efficient. I confirm what was said previously: also recommended for business meetings.

Every time I visit Basel I have a time out at this beautiful place. The Architectural aspect of the building is amazing! It use to be a Bank so they even have a safe downstairs to book for special venues. I fully recommend this place! The best cappuccino, beautiful brunch during weekends. super friendly staff!

Large popular local spot for coffee and a snack. Plenty of seating but it fills up quickly. Popular with laptop users, students and local shoppers.

Self-service. Simply furnished. The premises are a former bank. 12/24/23 A double espresso costs a whopping Fr 6, which in my opinion is simply a coincidence. Ok, this is a subjective rating. Service was top.

A very welcoming place for those who want to work and eat at the same time, with a small theater below where you can have excellent concerts. We recorded a good album there in 2013.

I have never experienced such impudence in my life! Hospitality sends greetings... Political freedom of expression is taboo in this house. Anyone who doesn't wave the left green flag will be treated disrespectfully and not served.

Unfortunately, there was only sweets to eat in between meals.

Had the worst brunch here. Also way too overpriced for what it is!! The pancakes were horrible and the warm chocolate was like water mixed with cocoa powder. And then no escape, nothing at all!! Wow! How critical you are... everyone didn't like the chocolate. If it had only affected me, things would be different. Now you accuse me of not wanting to accept anything else. I wanted to, but we were overwhelmed and had zero appetite after this horrible brunch. Afterwards I went to the same employee and said that we no longer liked anything and therefore would not accept the offer. Her answer: I like our pancakes, I'm sorry. No money back, nothing!

If you are wondering how big a cafe can be, be sure to sit down, have a drink and experience it. Even a playground has been considered for small children. If you wish, you can spend time outside with the French-style seating concept overlooking the square.

A nice place to sit and work. Gets a bit overcrowded and loud in weekends. I paid 8.3 for a cappuccino and a butter croissant. The coffee could be better in my opinion. The ambience is nice and the building is well maintained.

It's actually a really cool place, but somehow its best days are behind it. The staff seems disinterested, no one smiles anymore anyway, but a note that tips are very welcome 😉 The prices are very confident, but unfortunately can no longer be completely justified. Please try harder again

I’ve had a wonderful time at UM. My dessert was less sweet than average (it’s an advantage for me),and the ingredients are very appealing. The location is great, too.

I think it is a nice place to sit and enjoy outside. We liked the drinks and food we ordered, it was not very pocket friendly.

My husband ordered a very hot green tea ..it was served on a chrome steel tray…when he put down the tray the whole very hot tea slid on the tray the extremely hot water made my legs and arms burn with pain..went to the guy who gave this tray with tea on it ..he grinned in a toxic manner saying it never happened ..instead of asking how I was or felt or given ice..hat first grade burns…walked out to heal myself How could you serve the hot tall tea glass on a small Toni tray..that slides…dangerous for old people…!!! We paid and got nothing in return just first degree burns!!!! If there is any medical treatment costs involved our insurance will come back to you with the claim.

I recommend the salad bar, a sort of vegetarian buffet. They also do hot dishes. It's simple and not very expensive... for Switzerland :)

Very good, but lukewarm cappuccino. The “hot” chocolate was also just barely warm. Self-service and sometimes very loud, especially on weekends. The food next door is very good. Price-performance ratio was rather average, as I had ordered and expected hot drinks. Almost 6.- for a small, lukewarm cappuccino is just too much!

A great place to stay for a while in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the old town. Great coffee culture and a good selection of cakes, pastries etc. I find the no laptop policy a bit irritating. You are not allowed to work with a laptop on the terrace or in one of the interior rooms (you will at least be politely advised to power the device). Thinking about it, I understand that to a certain extent - but do I want that when I want to write two or three emails in peace and quiet? Leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste as a customer. I feel sorry for the employees who have to enforce this ban.

Wonderful Sunday Brunch with extremely nice service, sunny after 12 and so relaxing with a fantastic view on old town buildings. So tasty and good value!

Flat White - To Go Unfortunately underground for €6.50.

This place is great because you can work there without having to consume. That being said, the cakes up front are overpriced and for some mysterious reason you can't order drinks until a certain time. This is new tho. I was there for my birthday and all I wanted was an espresso Martini with my cake but it was too early 🥲

I've known the center since it opened. Now I've been there again and realized that it has a big mistake. There are all sorts of magazines available to read, with the exception of the one that stands out from the mainstream - Weltwoche. Diversity of opinions and stuff... You know what to do ;) it belongs in the range

Really cool place, a must see in Basel. Unfortunately, the coffee here (café crème) was disgusting: watery and bitter. For 4.90 it's quite a shame... So, I definitely recommend coming for a visit, but drink something else! ;)

A café in the perfect location. Very comfortable inside and out. From outside you can watch all the goings-on in the city. I like to be here very often. The atmosphere is great but the food is a bit overpriced for what it is. When it comes to coffee, the price-performance ratio is reasonable.

The coffee always tastes great. That's why I always visit the "non fumare" when I'm in Basel.

Good concept idea, unfortunately quality disappointing, food looks better than it tastes. Stopped there several times due to the good location. Unfortunately, all the (sweet) pastries so far have been too dry, the cakes on site are nothing special and rather dry and the Gianduja croissant is barely edible the next day and too sweet. Coffee ice cream was delicious, plum ok. Service nice but slow and forgetful. Location practical for staying in the city. Prices were rather high and I would have expected more.

We sat outside. We really liked the atmosphere. The waitress was very nice and friendly.

Lame. We wanted to get cocktails at 5.52pm, but we were not supposed as they start cocktails at 6pm... The waiter was pissed to serve us and added in German "not anymore" (mumbling in his beard). All of this show just to finally get a Hugo with green mint liquor instead of just fresh mint. I didn't finish it. First and last time.

Unusual atmosphere. An old bank converted into a coffee house. You have to get to that first. I was particularly impressed by the Eames lounge chairs in the middle.

nice quirky place in the old city. beautiful old building that's well looked after. tourists and locals alike buzzing here. definitely worth a stop to people watch and relax for a while. standard Swiss price ranges. food and coffee were just decent, nothing to rave about. we asked for cheese added with the scrambled eggs, and got 2 slices of Swiss cheese for 4 bucks. add another 4 for a handful of raw sliced veggies and a spoon of hummus.. which was funny for us but not entirely unexpected given our time in Germany and now Switzerland 😆. besides that, staff were pretty friendly and quick.

A large café in a former banking hall - we stopped here twice for a coffee and a snack while sightseeing in Basel. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed, with plenty of space. It is self-service.

What can I say? Nice place. In the middle of Basel, responsible ownership, open to everyone, worth supporting, but a beer for 9.50 is not without. Nevertheless, I would come back as a guest. Safe 4 stars here. As an organizer/club I was a bit disappointed. Although the MA were very nice, accessible and friendly. There was hardly any advertising over the middle (own channels, but not even on social media) that an event would take place. Then a room on the 1st floor completely in the landing. It's a shame for the effort and despite the discount (thanks for that) it's a pretty expensive aperitif. Then there is the complication of changing an address on the invoice. Just a shame. So for a casual meeting - good. Not suitable for public (not closed) events. Thanks anyway.

You can enjoy a delicious meal here, the burgers are wonderfully tender. The fries have a wonderful taste and together they make a delicious meal. The atmosphere on the terrace and inside is nice. The staff is very friendly and they help you quickly. You can also come here for a quick bite.

I love this place. Very friendly and confortable. I love the building and what they have done with this old bank.

Terrible!! 2 completely dried slices sold under the name of organic rye pizza, left over from yesterday, for 17 francs. Absurd. You can get coffee on top of a mountain in some old hut! The cakes look good, they taste good, but when sugar doesn't taste good... The sponge cake is dry. Don't bring money here! Anywhere else. Big disappointment.
