I had my heart operation by Prof Dzemali on February 6, 2024 and then I was in the intensive care unit for 2 weeks. I would like to thank the nurses on the ward for their excellent care. Since I was in the hospital for the first time in 55 years, and then with a not so easy operation, it wasn't very easy for me psychologically. But the staff was just wonderful. Hats off to the people who do this job, which is not at all easy.

If you come to the USZ with a worrying finding and a stressful diagnosis, Prof. Dr. M. Guckenberger meets, then it's a real relief and extremely relieving for the further course of the treatment, I could also say I'm lucky. Prof. Dr. I found Guckenberger to be a very accommodating person and impressed me with his clear and competent expertise. From the very beginning I had the impression that he understood my humanity, with my fears and worries, and responded to them empathetically. He showed me my situation and the further course of therapy clearly, unambiguously and very transparently and the corresponding planning was available immediately after the meeting. In my situation, this is simply very reassuring and valuable - I think it also has a positive impact on the further progression of the disease. I hope that many more people will benefit from the way Prof. Dr. Guckenberger can benefit. I would also like to mention Dr. Guninski, who introduced me to the effects and side effects of the upcoming therapy with impressive expertise and patiently answered all my questions.

Completely lack of empathy, from reception to the doctor. The staff radiates as much heat as an aircraft turbine. The only ones who have any understanding in this hospital are the older women in the hallways who show you the way (probably still on a volunteer basis). If the USZ (Circle ‧ Horror/Sci-Fi ‧ you can watch the film on Netflix) really wants to save money, it should replace the reception kites with an AI, because no one will notice the difference and 80,000 CHF will certainly be saved per reception kite. Ultimately, hospitals should strive to find a balance between efficiency and humanity in order to ensure optimal care, and the USZ is far from that.

Came to the emergency station of this hospital right after flying back from a Safari in Kenya where I got an unidentified bite that turn my leg into an horror movie. 5h after arrival at this hospital I still haven’t seen a single doctor... I will never come here again.

I broke my clavicle bone in an accident. I came here to the emergency department and the staff we extremely kind, professional and caring. There was a wait for surgery due to other accidents ahead of me, so all the staff worked hard to ensure I knew what was happening, and explained things to me in English, for which I am very grateful. I went to the traumatology department for my operation, where I similarly found the surgical staff, the nursing staff, and the hospitality staff very caring and professional. I am deeply gra to everyone who here who has helped in my recovery. Thank you.

In general, I am very satisfied with the nursing and medical staff and am happy to give them 4-5 stars. However, I can't forgive that when it comes to food. Why: As an allergy sufferer, I first got a "nutritionist" (chatterer) who determined that I should be given diet food. My repeated complaints were simply ignored. The menus were not edible and the highlight was an indefinable cold hard mass with an old and spoiled dessert cream. I was then visited again by a consultant, with the result: I organized my menus myself at my own expense. Such situations are simply scandalous and should not occur in a university hospital.

After a serious snowboarding accident, my son was taken to the university hospital, where he spent one night in the intensive care unit and was then transferred to the children's hospital. I would like to thank all the nurses and the doctor from the bottom of my heart for their extremely sensitive and supportive manner and their professional expertise. Lives are saved here every day. The hospital is gigantic in size and has several entrances. Because it is spread over several buildings that are only partially connected to each other, you have to find out exactly where you want to go. Right at the main entrance there is an information desk for which you have to take numbers. At “peak times” there is someone from the volunteer team who can help quickly. Such information points can also be found throughout the hospital. If in doubt, just ask someone, there is usually someone in white in the hallways. If you are brave, you will always find help. The staff is really helpful. The care is really good. Because of the size, not everyone can know about everything. That's why it can happen that, as an inpatient in another department, you are addressed in the same way (rather briefly) as someone who is only here on an outpatient basis. But doctors and nursing are top.

Eye clinic, they just work through their program, no questions, no attention to the patient. Hours of waiting for the senior doctors. Feedback form is offline, why? No wonder the hospitals are going downhill! I thought the last few years have brought some momentum to the store. Unfortunately none. Keep it up and we'll soon have conditions like those in our surrounding countries... Unfortunately I can't give 0 stars, so take the feedback as a compliment!

The parking situation for visitors is unbearable, especially because people park who are not going to the hospital and others use the two parking spaces to park their Audis, BMWs and Porsches. Control and a large parking garage are a must.

I usually never go to the hospital. I recently went to see you in an emergency after my symptoms worsened and with a recommendation from my family doctor. The reception staff were very friendly and understanding. I was quickly referred to the doctor in the relevant department and examined. Luckily it wasn't what was suspected. I am still very grateful that I was taken seriously. Waiting time approx. 4 hours (due to blood tests, the beginning was very quick) Finally the senior doctor came. She was very friendly and open and explained the rest of the procedure to me. Thank you very much and wish everyone good health :)

I had a copper coil inserted (somewhere else) and was in constant pain for two days. So strong that I vomited several times. When I arrived at the emergency gynecology department, I was taken seriously. When I had my first asthma attack I went to an emergency, but NEVER. I don't go there for no reason. The visibly annoyed woman gave me Buscopan even though I said that I had been taking it for 2 days and didn't notice anything. She doesn't know whether I really took it. Well then, I'll take it again. People asked me several times whether I was sure I wasn't taking drugs. I was tested for drugs twice (with urine and when unfortunately I didn't get the desired result, with blood) and my partner was asked twice if I was taking drugs. Of course that was and is NOT the case, which the tests also confirmed. They also found it necessary to guzzle me three times. To determine 3 times and say that the spiral is seated correctly. I never denied that and I knew it because I went to my gynecologist during the day because of the pain. He said I should go to the emergency if it doesn't get better by the evening. When I was crying, full of pain and desperation, leaning on my partner, the lady came into the hallway where she had already made me sit for 2 hours without painkillers (as I said, buscopan didn't help - she knew that), and said quickly, 'Now pull yourself together together! We have patients who want to sleep.' When I said that I wasn't crying because I was bored but because I was exhausted, could she please give me something else for the pain, the answer was, "You be quiet now or I'll get the security." There was enough for me. Now I also got short-tempered and told her that she could do this, that I was wondering how someone so empathetic could work as a nurse and that I refused to interact with her any further. I want a real doctor. Then a doctor came. I was finally taken seriously! I heard him asking her in the room why I hadn't been given morphine for so long when I was clearly in so much pain. THANKS! I didn't hear the lady's answer - it's probably better that way. He took me seriously, gave me morphine and removed that IUD. And guess what? The pain went away IMMEDIATELY as soon as she was outside. But no, at first they treated me like a hypochondriac, took my blood for a drug test after they had already tested my urine for drugs, still asked my partner several times and denounced me in the HALL because I was crying because of the pain. You can see the rewards of your staff! It's sad when you really feel how these frustrated employees enjoyed their power. Not helping. That was over a year ago and I'm writing this here now so that no woman is crazy enough to give birth to you! I will choose an assisted home birth or a birth center. Luckily I didn't have to experience this horror at such an important moment. I was so desperate and I can only imagine how a woman in labor must feel in your house of horrors. Absolutely bottom drawer - especially in the gynecology department. You can save yourself the answer about data protection. Feel free to write down any information about this case - anything. You have my consent.

Our red-green city government is unable to provide enough parking spaces in such an important place as the university hospital. On a Tuesday afternoon around the university hospital there was a lot of traffic looking for a parking space and a long queue at the overcrowded official parking lot, because I'm probably not the only one who wants to visit a loved one there. I rely on the car for work.

I had an infection from a bacterium and was taken from Männedorf hospital to the USZ in an emergency. I was then allowed to explain to someone what I had, but I had the feeling that he wanted to let me go anyway, no matter what I had. Then a disinterested secretary. Then I was allowed to wait a whole 2 hours 30 minutes and then wait again in the command center/emergency bed in the hallway. It was now 3 hours ago when I came as an “emergency”. And I'm still the same distance. Don't be fooled and go to another hospital. Side fact: Someone with perhaps a broken foot is simply sent home again, “he should come back tomorrow, it can’t happen through the night anyway…

Never come to this hospital if you have an urgency, i brought my partner at 6:20 in the morning with horrible pains and they kept her waiting for more than 90 minutes despite it was empty because they change the personnel at 7am. They couldn’t care less. Zero empathy. All they told her is: if it hurts why didnt you take a painkiller (not even offering her one) or “if you dont want to wait go to another hospital”. Any third world hospital is a better option.

Very disappointed My gynecologist called a senior doctor in internal medicine from the USZ and referred me to her to prescribe an immediate antibiotic infusion because my inflammation levels were very high. My report was sent to the emergency department via email. I went to the USZ emergency room immediately after seeing my gynecologist and was faced with a waiting time of at least 4 hours. I then went home and called my gynecologist again early the next day, who was shocked by the initial phone call and the treatment afterwards and then referred me to Zollikerberg Hospital for an immediate abtibiotic infusion treatment.

We were there because of an emergency. Comments on unfriendly and disinterested employees at the emergency room reception. You get the feeling that you are simply not welcome. Do you really believe that we come to you voluntarily and out of boredom? About the case: The gynecologist from the emergency service was really rude and rude. You don't really expect much, but at least that you will be understood and treated pleasantly. For the future, the university hospital remains the very last option. I was transferred from the Limmattal Hospital to the USZ last Tuesday. I had a thrombosis in my arm and pulmonary embolism on both sides. I was always treated with respect, friendliness and warmth! I was monitored every hour the night after the operation and each time the nurse apologized for the disruption. I think the way you treat your employees is what comes back. I have great respect for all the employees at USZ, you do a great job! Thanks to you, I can spend Christmas at home! Once again a BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!! ❤️

After brain surgery there were slight problems with wound healing. No appointment could be made, so I had to be treated twice as an emergency and had to endure long waiting times each time. It is expected that if there are multiple problems after surgery, the patient should be given an appointment. An infectious wound after brain surgery is not without danger. This is an absolute disgrace for the University Hospital.

You should get your staff under control. Good service starts on the phone! For every question there was a counter question until I hung up in annoyance and called another clinic where it worked. A hospital is only as good, or in this case as bad, as the employees. No more university clinics.

Difficult to give a clear rating here. It is a highly complex hospital. And first and foremost, I have respect for everyone who works there. And it is clear that there is a gap between everyday life and exceptional situations in terms of employees and patients and the experiences are probably very individual. My mother was on palliative care when, only the staff can tell, a very large chunk of money was stolen from her. I/relatives were only informed about the money when it was gone...otherwise I would of course have kept it. It's crazy to rob a dying person. There were also some nurses who clearly showed their dislike of mother's religion. A vase that I had specially bought and brought with me also disappeared. There is a general lack of communication with both patients and relatives. In addition, there were many strange, poorly planned and sometimes disrespectful three-month examination visits to the hospital of my mother, who was seriously ill at the time. Just a shame...

I had an appointment today, but unfortunately I arrived 15 minutes late due to traffic congestion and a major lack of parking space, despite leaving 1 1/2 hours earlier. Despite several calls to inform me that I would be late, it wasn't until the fifth time that someone picked up the phone. And what should I say? Not exactly friendly. I've been going to the USZ regularly for 2 1/2 years and have never been late in 2 1/2 years, not only that I had to wait every time. Minimum 30 minutes. I was already there and the doctor wasn't there, because of illness they weren't even able to make a call to cancel the appointment. After all, I drive 1 hour to USZ. But today I came 15 minutes later and had to listen to a lecture from the doctor about coming on time. It's ironic to hear that from a doctor who is never on time. I'd rather not say anything about friendliness. Especially the woman at the reception at the endocrinology clinic, who is never friendly even after 2 1/2 years. Find a new job if you like the job.

I had severe heartburn for years and then a rupture of the dwarf membrane. I had an operation at the university hospital and am very grateful. I was treated very lovingly and competently. Many thanks to the friendly nursing staff who wholeheartedly look after the patients day and night. Now I finally no longer have heartburn, sleep wonderfully again and can eat everything again. Always pleasant to have emergency nurses at reception at 4:30 in the morning who seem to be allergic to work and then talk about patients in a derogatory manner. I was there because of a burn with hot water and the gentleman at the reception just said that it was like a sunburn, except that he didn't even see the injury. And then asked me if I had burned myself yesterday. Of course I always come to the doctor at 4:20. If I didn't have to, I wouldn't go there!

I am chronically ill, suffer from an autoimmune disease and always have dizziness, headaches and you can never find what the real cause is and in the end it is said to be psychosomatic like please have physically very strange symptoms. Blood values show nothing but it doesn't have to mean anything and so I was back and forth During an emergency for unexplained reasons I once had barycardia and couldn't sleep. One day I unfortunately went to the emergency again. Dizziness is really a disgusting feeling in the neuro department and a nurse told me very cheekily that it wasn't an emergency and told me to look outside, they are emergencies and I know that too and she was very unpleasant to me. I then became very sad because no one understood what I had. I could only sleep for 2 hours for a week because my heart and dizziness bothered me. Sometimes I think they say something like that, it's not an emergency I think I should experience for myself what it means to be chronically ill. They don't know what it means to be chronically ill. It's terrible. My mood for the day was ruined. I really don't want to be there in an emergency anymore. I think the care is very good, not everyone, but I would like to no longer go to the neuro department and have now decided to go to another neurologist where a practice no longer wants to go to the university hospital and you won't be taken seriously :( I also had a seizure 1 year ago, had twitches and had to wait 3 hours with twitches and was sent to a psychiatrist even though it wasn't psychological. After 2 weeks I was in the Balgrist hospital where it was found that I had a throcal disc herniation with an indentation of the spinal cord which explains my seizure and twitches and you are always ashamed to blame it on the psyche. My autoimmune disease was found by another doctor and the university hospital always makes such a big impression and blames people without properly examining them. I am disappointed and my report was written incorrectly and lying is no longer normal a hospital or something else

My wife was admitted today with a heart attack. The initial investigations progressed quickly and the first stint was set up quickly. I think that's normal for a hospital like this. But she was supposed to get a second one that hasn't been placed yet.??? Do doctors wait until someone dies??? I've always thought that doctors are there to save lives, not shorten them!!! Unfortunately, things are different in the US.!!! If something were to happen to my wife, we would have a huge problem!!!

The older employee at “Patient Admission” was extremely cheeky. She says, in an annoyed tone, that in my situation you don't necessarily have to come in an emergency and if so, you should come earlier. sorry, but I work until the evening every day and can't stop work at any time and just go, especially you don't always have to go to the doctor straight away. What's also very funny: On the USZ website USZ, the most frequently asked question is: "why you have to visit ____" and my case was listed in this answer. Then I come along and I'm asked why, why? The doctor was great and didn't seem annoyed to help me. 5 stars for her. but the receptionists are ALL rude, annoyed and/or tired, even on the phone. EVERYONE unless you say you die.

The rhinoplasty was carried out in an older hospital where unfortunately the hygiene regulations were not sufficiently observed. In addition, coronavirus measures did not appear to be taken seriously, which further increased concerns about safety. The medical care appeared negligent and arrogant, and there was the impression of incompetence and a lack of transparency. This experience not only severely affected my self-confidence, but also left me deeply concerned about the quality of medical care at this hospital. I can only advise against considering this hospital for medical procedures as in my eyes it appears to be poorly managed and riddled with corruption. I advise everyone to be cautious about seeking treatment there. You really should have some knowledge about the medication. My mother was given the wrong medication, which she should never take, for 4 days until we, the children, noticed that my mother's condition had not improved, on the contrary. We then asked the hospital to tell us the medication my mom had to take. Despite the report that the hospital had received, the wrong medication was administered. The senior physician came personally and apologized for this "misunderstanding" which was caused by the senior physician's assistant. My mom is still not feeling better. She is now undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital in the USA. They only have her head there shaken and can't understand how such a fatal mistake could have occurred. Never again at the Zurich University Clinic. I'm just saying caution to everyone who wants to be treated there. The kidney values have been bad since the Zurich University Clinic. We don't want to make the name of the assistant public here make.

Long stay in the emergency room, to be told after 7 hours that what I wanted to do they couldn't do in the emergency room (I had called specifically before going). Very friendly doctor and radiologist. The nurse, on the other hand, is a disaster: of a rudeness never seen before. After 3 hours of waiting, including one in the room, I rang the bell to ask if anyone would be arriving. She scolds me, saying that I shouldn't call her anymore to ask for this kind of thing (that may be true, but there is a way and a way). She never bothered to come and check on me. My requests were not considered at all. Every time she opened the door she was visibly nervous and responded rudely to me. I discovered from the radiologist that the long wait was partly due to the fact that the nurse had forgotten to announce me in the x-ray (obviously she hadn't informed me or even apologized for the wait). The most incredible scene? When I was finally released, he came into the room as I was leaving and didn't even say hello. Ridiculous and not at all professional. You may be having a bad day, but this kind of behavior with patients is unacceptable. Next time I'll think twice about going to the emergency room here.

My father came as an emergency with a heart attack. Note from fathers Compression stockings are very important, as is ointment in the evening. Nothing happens! Numerous nursing staff engaged in private conversations in the corridor. Mother, severely demented, in the geriatric ward manages to go home in the evening... WITHOUT my father or me knowing, she is being taken to a nursing home! Unsocial, not patient-friendly and sometimes arrogant! A day later exactly the same problem! I am a tourist that presented to the emergency room with stroke symptoms (headache and memory issues). The care was excellent! Every staff member was very caring and knowledgeable! Everyone was very personable. I have worked in Healthcare in the United States for 40 years and feel the care I received far exceeded what I have seen or experienced in the US. Zurich can be proud of their outstanding medical center! A stroke was ruled out and I was diagnosed with amnesia related to a migraine! I highly recommend this medical center for your healthcare needs and appreciate the care they gave me.

Was there on Saturday with my girlfriend. We had an appointment and still had to wait 5 hours until everything was finished. I understand waiting times and I am aware that not everything always goes according to plan and that there may not be enough staff. But if after almost 5 hours you just have to go to the toilet for 2 minutes and then the doctor comes and makes a derogatory statement to the patient about why you are not at the place, I find it disgusting!

I have a multiple fracture in my ankle and my doctor immediately made an urgent referral to the USZ (on July 31st at 10:50 a.m.). The senior doctor only read the referral at 9 p.m. on July 31st and reported it urgently INTERNALLY IN THE HOSPITAL I'm supposed to go to the emergency room on August 1st to prepare for the operation... Unfortunately, there's no one working who can tell me that I should go to the emergency room on August 1st 😂😂 (very embarrassing for the hospital) Today (August 2nd) I got a call telling me to go to the emergency. I packed everything up straight away and was at the hospital at 1:30 p.m. I'm still sitting here without any care and it's now 7:32 p.m Ridiculous! And something like that should be the top 2 hospital in Switzerland. Let’s see how long I can wait for the “emergency” 😂😂😂 Never again at Zurich University!!!

I am sent there by 2 doctors to do a specific exam, one of them used to perform this specific exam so he knows very well about it. The specialist at the USZ does not want to perform the exam, he dismisses all the input from my doctors, all my input and instead tells me I have nothing. I asked this doctor for a prescription renewal, he does not want to. He is not interested in understanding why this medicine helps, he dismisses everything. Is this doctor at the USZ so intellectually retarded that he does not understand I will get it anyway from my 2 doctors? I am back with my 2 doctors. Inbetween a lot of wasted time, money and a lot of distress. I got the prescription renewal from my 2 doctors, they agree on it. The process to get an appointment was also a real mess.

We will never go to this hospital again. impudence. I went to the hospital with my wife. She had to take a blood sample and they said it would take an hour to get the result. The waiting room was open to 1 or 2 people. We had to wait more than 4 hours and got no result. My wife was not helped. After 4 hours I couldn't watch it any longer. We're away from the hospital. It's a shame, a simple ORL appointment cannot be rescheduled by telephone. These could only be assigned. So if you're unlucky, i.e. don't have time, you have to cancel it again and you'll be assigned another one. They wouldn't have time to discuss this with all the patients (does everyone really call?). At most practices, you can call and see what suits you better... It couldn't be more inflexible, frustrating.

I was admitted with an abscess between my spine and esophagus. Professor Dr Germans saved my life. Without him and the other doctors I would have died or been paralyzed from the neck down. I have been living in Switzerland for 12 years and had my first hospital stay of 2 weeks. I am very grateful that I am in a country with a very good and competent hospital (Zurich). The doctors, nurses, physio, catering staff and especially the Rega team are very competent and friendly. They put in a lot of effort and are very professional. Simply top class! I had critical brain surgery and felt very safe and taken seriously.

Bad luck... Before the appointment, a call from the hospital asked whether the appointment could be moved forward... Then 2.5 hours of waiting in front of the treatment room... Medications are prescribed that are not compatible with the medications already prescribed. Appointments are forgotten or it is claimed that the appointment was on another day. What kind of university hospital is this?? Sick people go there or have an emergency, what is expected? Unfriendliness, impatient doctors make appointments for what? You still have to wait for hours!! First the assistant doctors look back and forth a lot of blood is taken for examinations it takes a while until a result is obtained we have been here for days at appointments and the same thing over and over again. Nevertheless we don't know the end result of the eye's health!! I'm talking about the eye clinic here, so I have to say it's sad how a university hospital works, rude staff, unfriendly, you can give people a smile and it doesn't cost anything!!
