Disappointing experience with Van der Merwe Fitness I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Van der Merwe Fitness. I originally contacted them about a summer offer, but instead of allowing me to take advantage of that offer, I was given an appointment after the summer offer. This resulted in me not being able to take advantage of the offer that originally interested me. After my appointment, I was offered an annual contract for the premium offer. I was assured that I could change at any time. A year later, when I had hardly used the premium services and wanted to switch to the basic offer, I was told that this was not possible. Despite my explanation that I wasn't really using the premium services and therefore wanted to switch, I was shown no accommodation. The manager recognized the problem, but instead of finding a solution that would be fair for both parties, she offered me a two-year contract for the basic offer. This means that she wants to commit to me for another two years. Where is justice when someone makes a mistake and has to answer for it? I made it clear and clear that as a customer I am very dissatisfied because I was wronged, twice! It seems that Van der Merwe's focus is not on people, but on capital. I definitely cannot recommend this gym. It's important that potential customers know what to expect before deciding to join.

The center is a lousy money-making operation with no style or goodwill. After being talked into an annual subscription, I realized after two months that the center wasn't right for me. Unfortunately, I missed the notice period by three days. Van der Merwe was not willing to accept my cancellation and I had to pay another overpriced annual subscription. Find another place. The wellness area is also a joke.

I was there in the fitness, there are employees who are very pushy and the Van der Merwe should also be renovated. I don't recommend this

So far I've only played badminton here, the courts are clean, well lit and the price is okay. You have the option to extend if there is still space.

The Van der Merwe Center has a hairdresser, squash, physio and bowling alley. I reserved a bowling alley with friends on December 27th, 2023. I waited a long time. And then I had to wait a long time at Bar Tecke because there was only one member of staff present that afternoon. It wasn't until 6 p.m. that the second staff arrived to start their work. My friends and I don't find it so funny that there are such big centers where so many people do sports. I hope that the staff will be well prepared next time.

Lanes not entirely flat, balls half broken, full of dents. Rarely have I had such a bad experience.

We had a great evening. The center has many opportunities to do sports. There is enough parking space and the reception is very friendly.

The prices are cheap and it's a cool center to let off steam! The staff is also friendly. It's just not up to date with bowling, which is why I give it 4 stars. But for a cool evening it's definitely worth it!

Unfriendly and rude fitness company. Despite correctly canceling their fitness subscription, the fitness company Van der Merve threatens customers with debt enforcement. Take this lightly. The customer can also run the Van der Merve fitness company. Apparently they don't have enough customers and can't handle the loss. I will instruct my legal protection insurance company.

Recently went there with my friends late on a Thursday. Mega friendly staff and top service. :-) Ambiance could be better, but that's a matter of taste - otherwise really great.

Everything you need for a great workout and more. There is sensopro, a stretching station, foot reflexors, etc. Physio, bowling, a restaurant, child care, hairdressing and other types of sports are offered in the same building. However, in the middle of the industrial zone, there is no noise from outside

Even though I canceled my subscription 2.5 months earlier, I had to pay for another year because I didn't comply with the 3 month notice period. As a long-time customer, I am horrified and realize that the center does not care about customer satisfaction at all. Is anyone interested in training there? I will no longer set foot in this center. I am incredibly disappointed with the way these chain contracts are handled. In Germany, these contracts are no longer allowed.

Went there with my students. Staff is friendly and flexible. Good experience.

Great place, you can go bowling, do sports, have a drink.

Cozy atmosphere with numerous opportunities for sports and other activities. The staff is ok so far, but there is still work to be done on proactivity and professionalism. Certain bowling alleys are effectively slanted sideways, which sometimes makes playing difficult. The food is ok, but I've had better. But the offer is certainly a plus for Allschwil.

As an almost daily visitor, there are many things to complain about. 1. The equipment is okay for a beginner, but if you are only a little advanced you will notice that the basic equipment for a fitness center is patchy and missing. 2. Air conditioning is installed but probably hasn't been used since 2007. This is a no-go, especially in mid-summer and mid-winter. 3. A significant number of members complained for what seemed like an eternity about the dark lighting conditions (definitely not suitable lighting for a fitness center) and requested that the lights be turned on during the day, but there was no response for months! 4. They didn't want to turn on the sauna for a certain period of time, which is totally contrary to the contract. Now only after 4 p.m. These sporadic changes in the rules are very questionable. These examples reflect exactly how you feel as a customer at the Van der Merwe Fitness Center. It seems that only profit matters to them. But it should also be mentioned that most of the trainers and employees are nice and understanding and this review owes them a 1 star rating and not a 0 star rating.

For the second time in Van der Merve and now definitely never again. 1st time business lunch, rented bowling, next door there are bullies who destroy everything extra, only we have the right shoes, next door we play with sneakers, nobody does anything? When you draw attention it means you don't have enough staff? Darts rented for the second time, darts that fall apart, dart board made of cardboard, no longer electronic like it used to be?? When you draw attention to it, they say that the material is not available and that too much is broken! No wonder if no one is looking.

The restaurant offered me and my 2 friends a great evening. The bowling alleys as well as the billiards and air hockey tables were well maintained and the atmosphere was also very cozy. I will recommend it.

Squash courts, badminton courts, dressing rooms and toilets are nice and clean. And have always been whenever I was there. You can see directly in the kitchen when you sit at the corner of the bar. The working surfaces in there looked really messy with ketchup and mayonnaise bottles lying around to be refilled (why are they refilled and with what product?) next to a pile of raw meat which was later seasoned directly on the same chrome steel surface. My beer glass had lime spots (indicates that it was washed by hand and without soap). Even though I am a smoker myself i find it a bit unfortunate to put the smoking area directly in front of the entrance. When we left, we walked into a wall of smoke of a big group of smokers.

Not worth the money, way too expensive for what you get! Head trainer who just wants to aggressively sell subscriptions and forgets what the main task of a trainer should actually be! A lot of mistakes happen, but nothing is done, just ignored. Set up house rules, but your own are not followed.

We went bowling yesterday. When we ordered food for the kids it took over an hour. And then we were forgotten. Otherwise it always worked, very friendly

Like many others, we (a colleague and I) paid in money to reserve and pay for badminton courts directly via the eFit app. Now we can no longer go to play badminton for various reasons and wanted our money back. Van der Merwe writes: “… that we do not refund purchased 10-series subscriptions”. A really sad end, especially we were good customers for several years.

My feel-good club for over 20 years.

Overall it’s a good option. You can do lots of activities and sports. The locker has been renovated recently and it has a new small sauna, however some areas might need a refresh (especially in bottom floors where the squash courts are located). Staff is friendly.

The restaurant was missing a lot of ingredients, they forgot a pizza and then burned it and the drinks had very little alcohol in them and still had rather high prices

Together with 10 teenage girls we celebrated our daughter's birthday in the Van der Merwe Center. The bowling fun and the pizza chat gave us an unforgettable celebration. The employees at reception and at the restaurant were super friendly. 💕😊🎳🥳

Competent trainers, open, bright and well-ventilated rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, wide range of courses. Best fitness center in the region.

The services at Van der Merwe are truly praiseworthy and there is something for everyone. However, I would like to note that the information provided by Tanja Jovičić (the best receptionist at the moment) is not only satisfactory, but much more first-class. I hope that Van der Merwe is aware of Ms. Jovičić's competencies.

I found the Merwe Center in the percentage book and wanted to make a reservation for squashing today. I'm sporty, YES, but my buddy can't manage to squash for 90 minutes... I think you have to accommodate the customers a little here. Either spread over 2 different days or pay half the price. Very few amateur athletes go squashing for 90 minutes! This action means I will never go to the Merwe Center again. Apparently you don't need sales, otherwise you would want to work in a solution-oriented manner!

Unfortunately, the Corona protection concept is not implemented (at least) in the bowling area. The protection concept on the company website states that only every second lane is offered so that there is enough space between the individual groups, but this was not the case today. All the lanes were occupied the entire time - sometimes by huge groups (families of 10, etc.) In general, no attention was paid to the safety distances, etc., not even by the staff... In the arcade there was no possibility of hands, billiard rackets, etc. to disinfect... a shame.

Bowling facility leaves a lot to be desired. Pins are attached with cords, malfunctions and pins constantly falling over are “normal”.

So when I was showering after exercise I was simply shouted at by a trainer because I forgot my towel downstairs. Very rude and also unpleasant. I will cancel my subscription immediately and would not recommend the fitness subscription. The bowling alley is very good but everything is way too overpriced

Vandermeerwe fitness studio is no longer like it used to be, which is really good, the premium area is far too expensive if you are still a teenager or a student. You also have to expect that you will often be yelled at (abused) by older men and women. The sauna/steam bath is difficult to enjoy in the premium area Conclusion: For parents who have enough money to meet/chat in the fitness center, I recommend the vandermeerwe. For motivated people who come to train and really let off some steam, I don't recommend going to a cheaper gym, especially not suitable for young athletes The staff is lousy, you notice that the employees are more attentive to the needs of the pensioners, you are considered as a second choice and the reason for this is (quote from a worker), they want the pensioners to stay registered because they come less, there are many registered pensioners and that vandermeerwe has more income.

Darts is way too expensive, 20 per hour! In the past, you only paid 7 to 8 euros for an hour at the machines...

CONTRACT BINDING - or HOW DO I FRUIT CUSTOMERS PROFESSIONALLY: Automatic extension of the membership contract, but WITHOUT written notification as it says in the membership contract! You communicate through “reciprocated trust”??? This is just pure #customer ripoff Mr. Leon Van der Merwe! You didn't respond to my registered letter and didn't comment... #NoRespect #Customer Service = 000 | Bravo!

Questionable hygienic conditions - were the devices ever cleaned, let alone disinfected? Inadequate/missing specialist staff. 5 star center...?

Equipment for training is great, support and other infrastructure are so-so.

The fitness is well equipped and the staff is friendly. I've played squash and badminton several times and thought it was great. In the restaurant you can get great dishes and drinks for after and before exercise.

Apollo Gym in Binningen will close its doors forever on June 1st, 2018, it was one of the most personal fitness studios in the region. I don't know Van der Mere, so this review only refers to the former Apollo Studio!

My son and I have already gone to play ping pong several times for a one-hour session. Once the session is over, we have already been criticized twice for playing for more than an hour even though we paid for a one-hour session, while we always stop after 50 or 55 minutes. . It's always the same person who gives us this kind of reflection. I would never set foot in this establishment again. Sincerely

According to the opening times, the center is open until 2:00 a.m. Drive 30 minutes and arrive at 11:30 p.m. to find it's closed. The whole way was free, cleaning staff cheekily and unfriendly pointed out to us that it was closed because they had no customers that evening. The opening times are appropriate so you can adjust accordingly!

Facility is clean, staff is friendly. Price no longer up to date. 30 CHF/h for a train, well you can do that but it's a bit much. 20chf/h for darts is very expensive. Especially since you still have to count the points yourself and this doesn't happen automatically.

Great center, good reception. The lady at the bistro was arrogant. I wanted to order something. She saw me and went behind the counter and said she would be right there. But I didn't wait. A friend also wanted to order something and she was definitely forgotten. Sorry, that's not very nice.

We often go to play badmington here, reservations can be made in advance. If a reservation has not been made or at short notice, there is a student discount. The staff is very friendly. The fitness center also looks great, but I've never been there.

I think it would be nice if Tanita would sell a bar/protein/shake like in the Apollo. I miss the love of fitness, even though I wasn't a member of Apollo or Van der Merwe but I came to have a look, I miss the fitness INSTRUCTIONS. Life, energy, spirit. The PFUPF is missing. But I know that Tanita feels very comfortable in this fitness and that's why everyone loves Van der Merwe, so I give you 5 points. It's otherwise a really nice fitness center. And a great weekend facility

I found out from a football friend (Tanita Troendle Apollo) that there is a new bowling alley and I am very happy that money is being invested in this area after a long time. So I'll also take a look at the basic subscription. Kind regards, your loyal bowling member

The Apollo Gym has been in Van der Merwe since June 1, 2018. The Van der Merwe has the same equipment, so the Apollo spirit lives on. The new basic subscription at CHF 699 also reflects the same offer as in the Apollo Gym.

In the end they made this into a decent experience for a very large group of friends. There are many things to do at this location including bowling, billiards and darts all at fairly reasonable prices. *** Please be aware that when you book the bowling is a for a fixed time and you must be on time.

It looks a little old on the outside, but everything on the inside is great! great location!

Unfortunately, the 1st basement is partly untidy due to renovation work. The door mechanisms of certain squash courts are stuck.
