Verdi in Bern

I reserved a table for two at 6:30 p.m.! We waited 28 minutes to place an order. Nobody paid any attention to us during this time and we were simply forgotten. So we left the restaurant without consuming anything. I am very disappointed with the service from the staff. The restaurant had hardly any guests at that time! I will not recommend Ristorante Verdi and it was my last visit!

For me, as a Bindella restaurant fan, one of the most beautiful restaurants in Bern. Tasteful ambience with lots of art, candlelight and fine Italian cuisine!🙏🏽🌺♥️classical music by Verdi in the background! A successful homage!

Everything is the finest: the food is a dream, the staff is incredibly attentive and friendly, and the ambience is also great, especially the room with the open fireplace. Every franc is worth it.

The Verdi restaurant has an incredibly beautiful Bernese old town ambience. Nice service and fabulous service. The beautiful wine cellar offers many fine wines. The food is wellness for the stomach and the portions are just right.

Great Italian. Somewhat limited selection of dishes, I'm missing a few classics. Good wine list and a very nice ambience in the vaulted cellar.

Went to Verdi a lot before the two Gerants left and always really appreciated the friendly welcome, the ambience, the food and the service. Since the Verdi has been re-run, things have been a little different: the Geratin sits at the bar and doesn't make any effort to say hello or greet you at all, the friendly serving staff does that. There is no longer any demand from the guide to eat and there is no longer a farewell to the assistant, even though she is standing at the exit. and the same thing again now. It's a shame for everything else, you don't really feel welcome and valued.

Very good Italian restaurant. The front doesn't look like much but inside it's great with these small rooms and nooks. The meal and wine lists are top notch (Bindella). The ossobuco is excellent The service is friendly, attentive and perfect. We, the 4 friends, had a great time. Place to remember and return

Just thank you for the nice evening! You're doing a great job. We got a seat on the evening of December 31st without a reservation. After a quick inquiry, a table was immediately prepared for us! Everything was fully booked but if you want there is always an option. People make the difference and we were lucky enough to meet someone who not only does this job but lives it!

We dined at Verdi tonight, after booking online. It was simply an outstanding meal. All aspects of the restaurant were pleasing - service, atmosphere, prices, menu, wine list, and of course food. I have to make special mention of the pasta. We both had pasta, mine a tagliatele and my wife's a tortellini. Both were superb, a masterpiece of handcrafted, housemade pasta; light yet substantial - if that makes sense - holding its shape and flavour to the last bite, allowing the sauces to cling and glisten in joyful celebrations of the chefs art. Oh, and the tiramasu was a triumph, impressively light and a perfect balance of the flavours of this classic dish. The only disappointing thing was that they are booked out for tomorrow night, or last night in Bern.

Tuna with risotto was very, very good. Service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately very loud. Would still come again.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful Verdi Restaurant and I absolutely loved it! The food was outstanding and the quality of service was first class. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and inviting. The decor was stylish and the ambience was relaxing. The combination of friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere made my stay even better. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to dining there again soon.

After a long time again in Verdi. Was very very good.

On December 1st, 2023 there were 5 of us at a nice table in a corner. Ambience was good. The antipasti misti for Fr. 19 were good and reasonable. The dessert piccola sinfonia was great and for 14.00 it was very good value for money. But the main course, Bucatini all scoglio for Fr. 35.00, was far too small a portion, almost a disgrace. Above all, it had far too little pasta.

Very nice service from Marcello and Lorina. The food was wonderful. The ambience was very warm and welcoming. I recommend the potato cream soup with truffles as a starter, I have never had such a good, high-quality preparation. Thank you all and goodbye.

Tonight I had the opportunity to visit Verdi restaurant, located a short distance from the train station and the city center. The place proved to be extremely welcoming. To start the evening, I opted for an Aperol Spritz, a little strong for my tastes but still delicious. As a starter, I chose a salad with raw ham and parmesan, followed by a main course of livers accompanied by a delicious cheese risotto. The variety of flavors was a real pleasure for the palate. Particular praise goes to the waitress Aline Arache, always attentive and kind. Even though the place was crowded, he provided impeccable service, making sure that everything ran smoothly and that I didn't need anything. His awareness and ability to advise competently were appreciated. The final touch was the dessert, consisting of four mini desserts from the menu. The particular choice to offer this variety was appreciated, as I would have had difficulty opting for just one dessert. In conclusion, I would like to wish the restaurant all the best and highly recommend it. I will definitely return to experience more culinary delights. A sincere thank you to all the staff and good luck for the future!

There were 10 of us and we had a nice table in the back area by the fireplace. No waiting times and very good food with excellent white and red wines. The friendly and courteous service of the “main” waiter was particularly positive.

The quantity-price ratio is not optimal, but the quality is 1000x there! The scallopine were perfectly tender, the truffle sauce was delicious, and the restaurant is sublime! Very warm and smiling service... I highly recommend!!

The staff welcomed us very friendly and accompanied us (7 people) to our table. The food and service is very good. We found the ambience where the large fireplace is very nice.

Restaurant in the old town of Bern. Menu as you know it from the Bindella restaurants. You will never be disappointed there. Nice ambience and service was attentive - were there on a Friday. I can highly recommend it.

Beautiful Italian aristocratic atmosphere and excellent service!

The bread and a type of grissini served at the beginning were very tasty. The soup with tortellini was nice, but not special. A few more larger side dishes would have been good. I was disappointed with the saffron risotto with vegetables. You didn't feel any of the saffron at all (it should be visible in color). It must have been forgotten...The rice was like grainy dry rice with a few not tasty peas and chopped carrots in it (like from a store-bought freezer pack). So no special vegetables - on the contrary. All in all, no special flavor. The portion was also rather small, it sank into the recess of the plate. The waiter seemed overwhelmed even though the restaurant was almost empty. Brought the wrong thing or forgot orders. New combinations of menus could not be made. The room was too dark, too dim.

Searched u a restaurant near older part of town to afford an opportunity for a nice lunch and a little sightseeing stopover on the way to Zurich. There were a number of Italian food choices. I used both the food and vive photos to select this one. The interior of the restaurant is a mix of old world (lots of wood) and modern with white walls, large art on the walls and (high ceilings and glass skylights. The food was exceptional — cooked well, attractively served and nicely portioned. The only constructive feedback is that it leaned towards being more salty than we usually prefer.

We were the only guests who ate inside, the tables outside were full and we didn't want to eat in the cigarette smoke. The atmosphere inside was a bit quiet, music would have been appropriate. The person who assigned us the table wasn't particularly friendly and our waiter was okay, but the boss provided excellent service! Including wine tasting, really great, thank you very much! We like the Verdi very much however we have to say that the service and food were better a few years ago. Nevertheless, there is 4****

Very relaxing location, great staff, great Italian food. Would certainly go again. The wine by the glass was really rather good compared to most places.

Very nice atmosphere and great location in the old town. The food was good, but the prices won't make me come back again. Vitello tonnato as a starter for 29.- and as a main course tagliatelle for 26.-?? And as a refreshment, a 1l bottle of mineral water for a whopping 11.-?? The service was great!

We ate at this restaurant. The service was good. On the other hand, I ate the house specialty, a Bollito misto. It was a stew with a few vegetables and pieces of meat. There was neither quality nor quantity for the price of 41chf. Generally speaking, I find the prices of food too high in relation to what is served. Damage.

Beside the really well prepared Italian food, the atmosphere of the Falstaff room at the back of the restaurant with its fireplace and old paintings on the wall transports you at a glance to a different time: time to enjoy, time to share secrets and time to relax.

For wine lovers and newcomers, the wine with company event is the perfect opportunity to try out new wines. Good organization, very friendly staff, fine food and brilliant ambience. And the wine...? Decide for yourself. A few rules will help you.

Very friendly service staff. The food is A1, always happy!

Very expensive which didn't justify the quality. The grilled eggplant was like coal (see photo), the mozzarella was not buffalo mozzarella. For 28 CHF it’s “a bit” a shame. I find the pasta portion (Tagliatelle alla “Traviata” with fried beef fillet cubes) very little for 36 CHF. For the price you can eat much better in Bern and get better quality and service!

On Sunday, we had lunch in this beautiful restaurant in Bern. It exceeded our expectations. The food was of high quality. I would like to point out the lemon risotto and also the dessert. The atmosphere was very cozy. Also, we were very satisfied with the service. We will come back again.

I didn’t expect a restaurant so well located could be that good! Verdi nails the Italian goodness with the fresh ingredients and simple recipes. Best tomatoes I’ve had in a long time. Also they are family friendly. They had coloring material and special Utensils for kids. The kids menu was an excellent deal and the kids ate very well. A very pleasant meal!

Food was great. You can make risotto! The rooms and the service are also inviting. For me personally, however, it was too loud in the restaurant to have a quiet and comfortable conversation. With a group of 16 people, we were able to order à la carte without waiting long.

As usual, the food is excellent! I go back for the butter and sage ricotta caramelle (divine!) but the other dishes we tasted there are also very tasty in our opinion. The wine (also acclaimed by our waitress ;) was perfectly to our taste (Maime, negroamaro). The staff is friendly even when they are very busy or even overwhelmed :) and the setting is great. One of the best restaurants I've been to. The conditions are very polite and always offer the best. The decor is very nice and the restaurant is very popular with many. It is addressed to Giuseppe Verdi and you can also hear his pieces playing while you eat. I can absolutely recommend it.

What an experience. What an atmosphere. Our wedding dinner here was heavenly. We always like to come back. In any case, a reservation is recommended.

We were welcomed and served very well, however the meal did not live up to our expectations. To begin with, the salad served was an ordinary green salad with a very basic and too vinegary sauce. No fantasy in terms of presentation. The truffle egg was presented very simply and lacked truffle, considering the price.... Then we continued our truffle meal. The Cappellacci con ripieno di ricotta were not well cooked and the interior did not resemble ricotta but a compact mass. Once again, the truffle has been grated in very small quantities. My partner chose a veal chop. The meat was tender but on the other hand the sauce had a very sticky consistency and little flavor. The truffle was practically non-existent too. It was a big disappointment given the high price of the meal. We are aware that truffles are expensive but they were practically non-existent. To finish, our scoops of ice cream were served to us in a very ordinary manner for such a pretty restaurant. We were expecting a little extra touch. With an addition of almost 300frs for two adults, the disappointment was palpable.

Absolutely stunning and beautiful setting in the old town of Bern. Food was very good and tasteful. We have been on a company event with around 100 people for dinner. So review is not too objective. Given the way of work, using a food lift from the kitchen and all othere linitations, they were certainly reaching their limit of the doable. But again. Great food, great ambiente!

It was so nice to find authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Bern! We came during Bernfest and were looking for relief from the crowds and noise. We chose a table inside but the large windows provided a view of old town. You have to try the bread sticks; they are like lace in bread form -- so light and airy. I had the tuna with lemon risotto and oh my, the sushi-grade tuna melts in your mouth. And I think my dining partner ate more of my risotto than I got of her ricotta and spinach ravioli in a delectable butter sauce. Unfair! I'll have to come back for more.

The food was very tasty, the service or the kitchen seemed to be a bit overwhelmed by the full house, so related dishes at the "Tavola" were served at the table at a different time.
