Villa Duchessa Winterthur in Winterthur

The starter from the Easter menu, asparagus with strawberries and lettuce, contained almost a pack of red peppercorns. My question as to whether this was intended or an oversight was shrugged off and "the kitchen did it that way." A drink that was ordered was tipped but not brought.

Jungealtstadt vouchers are accepted, but the staff is not familiar with how to use them. So the voucher couldn't be redeemed and we had to pay by card. Very annoying.

Very good service, always friendly and the food tastes like in Bella Italy.

Very nice place and quality pizzas.

You cannot order a simple carafe of water and the bottle of water is more expensive than a Coke (6.50 CHF). The service was disastrous, half the table had no services until their meal arrived.

Lovely and classy old fashioned decorated Italian restaurant, with generous vol of food and very friendly service. Quite recommended.

As for food and service, everything is good. We reserved a table earlier. There were a lot of people and everyone was sitting very close to each other and it was quite noisy inside.

Fabulous! I had one of the best Calzone I've ever eaten in my life. Many friends have celebrated their birthdays here. Large establishment that can accommodate larger groups. Very friendly staff and absolutely top notch Mediterranean cuisine priced fairly. A stones throw from Winterthur main station. In the summer they have extensive outdoor seating. Can only recommend 👌

After reserving the table in advance, we were quickly seated at an uncomfortable table near the entrance, even though some tables were still free! Very unpleasant...after the bitter Italian charm of the service, we got the food. What was annoying was that we got a mixed salad twice. After clarification, this is part of the main course! Why didn't the waiter point this out to us when we ordered? Then we could have chosen something else for the starter! After asking, the excessive friendliness was very annoying! For me it is pointless to rate the food as I will never visit this restaurant again! It's a shame🤷‍♀️, the ambience would be very nice if you could get a nice, quiet table. Maybe we didn't suit the waiter?

I found the service extremely friendly. The dinner was very tasty and despite the restaurant being full, we (4 people) didn't have to wait long for the food to arrive. Unfortunately I find it a bit cramped and you sit very close to each other. I would love to come back :)

Four of us were there for dinner. The welcome was very friendly. The restaurant was completely full. It was a bit loud and the chairs were a bit close together. The food was very tasty (we had everything from meat dishes, pasta and pizzas, starters and desserts), the service was very friendly, attentive and efficient. At the end, women received a free espresso and amaretto, and men received a grappa. It's definitely worth eating here. Luckily we had reservations. We'll be back - we all really enjoyed it.

Nice restaurant with friendly staff and a large menu. Seasonal dishes, pizzas, meat dishes; there is something for everybody. My dish was beautifully presented and tasted good. You feel comfortable here as a guest and before you leave you will be treated to an espresso with grappa. Price/performance is right here.

Above all, we would like to praise the really friendly and friendly staff! 5 stars for that! The ambience is Italianate, but the acoustics are terrible. Sometimes you almost have to shout at each other to communicate - very unpleasant. the food….. hmm.. my companion’s pizza was delicious. My piccata milanese, on the other hand, was one of the worst that I have ever been served. It already smelled strange when the plate arrived. The meat was not good (tough and not very fresh). Too bad.. next time I'll come with a pamir and order pizza :)

From the first second to the last, top service, very attentive waiters, very friendly. We had little time. The food came within a very short time. Seldom seen such harmony and organization in a restaurant that served over 20 guests at the same time. GRAZIE MILLE!!

We didn't have much time and told the waiter that at the beginning. After that everything happened lightning fast. Drinks were on the table after 5 minutes and after another 10 minutes we had our fine, crispy pizzas. The service was not only quick, but also extremely warm. We'd love to come back, but with less time pressure!

This one can claim THE best pizza I have had this year 2023! Simple like this!

The service in this restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. The staff doesn't know what dishes look like. You are not offered any bread with your salad and the cutlery is carelessly held in front of your nose. You are given two bottles of water without being asked, although only two out of five people were given glasses. You are also pressured to leave several times because they are supposed to be closing even though other guests are still eating. The food tasted good, but unfortunately there were also stomach cramps. That's why I can't understand the good reviews here.

Pizza was great but it took 40 minutes. Other people that arrived after us received the pizza much earlier. Service in general totally overwhelmed on a Friday evening. You get 1 chance to order the food and the drink. The rest of the evening they will walk past your empty glasses without giving you a chance to order. Tiramisu was very good but they forgot 1 spoon. It never arrived so I used the small coffee spoon. The staff speaks Italian and they are friendly. Also they give you a complementary digestive.l and coffee which is nice 👍

Communication between the service wasn't optimal, pizza came before the salad. Long waiting time between meals (salad pizza 45 minutes). But it was in rush hour. Pizza was too hard on the edge and needed a lot of force to cut. Baked too long and too much olive oil in the dough. The base was soggy and not crispy, but had fresh tomatoes on it. The taste was perfect. The pizzeria is rated too well for my experience. But I was only there once and only ate one menu.

Extremely attentive and friendly service and a great menu! The food was very fine! I'll be feasting my way through the menu here in the future! And that's what I've done now. I'm still not done. At the end there was espresso and grappa for the gentleman and amaretto for the lady on the house. If the origin of the meat were declared on the card, it would be the icing on the cake!

The courses are huge, I had taken some chicken with asparagus, but in the end there was more asparagus, which among other things some were not peeled, the hollandaise sauce seemed to be based on mayonnaise! A culinary delight after a stroll through the city. We came unannounced. The ambience is classy. The service was extremely courteous. The wine was professionally presented and opened. The pizzas were visually very appealing, olfactorily promising and, in terms of taste, they conjured up a shine on the lady's lips and a light in her eyes in a very crunchy way. Fresh pepperoncini in oil give the pizza an “aromatic, fiery note” - if you want. We really feel cared for and pampered by the service. Gladly again. But it's best to explore it yourself.

Good pizzas and bruscetta. Shrimp calzone on offer - too many seafood pizzas on offer for me. Insanely friendly service. Please clear away used dishes before serving. The restaurant was very full and therefore the background noise was loud. Women get amaretto with their coffee, men get grappa: a somewhat old-fashioned tradition. Overall impression is a solid average for this restaurant class, value for money is right. I'd love to come back. Reservation recommended.

Great eatery with a good Italian atmosphere in the middle of Winterthur. (-1 point because the seating was a bit tight). We made a reservation at short notice and got one of the last tables. A well-coordinated and very friendly service team served us. There is a large selection of pizzas and traditional dishes. We chose a caprese salad with burrata and then saltimbocca with risotto, both of which were excellent. For dessert, a homemade tiramisú. All highly recommended.

I deducted a star for the service, even though the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Why? I like to be served by a waiter or waitress. Unfortunately, this is not the case in this restaurant. Someone takes the order, someone else brings the wine/drinks list, someone else then brings the food, etc. I don't know who I should pay then. Maybe someone else will come along. And what about tips? I'm happy to give a tip if I'm happy with the service, but I'd like to give it to the person who served me and not put it into a shared fund.
