Vorsass in Beatenberg

A wonderful place. A wonderful panorama, very friendly service and one of the best fondues I have ever eaten. Thank you for the good time :-)

Beware of rip-offs I have been a regular guest at this restaurant in the past. Today I ordered a meringue with ice cream and asked if I could have mocha twice instead of vanilla & strawberry. No problem. When I paid I noticed that there was a surcharge of 13% for this request. This was without me seeing anything on the dessert menu or mentioning anything to the waitress beforehand. In my opinion, this cannot be justified with additional effort; The cook has to take one less ice cream bucket into his hands. Pure rip-off. It's a shame, I've always been satisfied so far, but I'll choose another restaurant in the future; one where the guest is still in the foreground.

Visited around 5 p.m. on September 1st, 2023, the 2 ladies in service at the limit. But the company wasn't full. Ovo/milk product very small container. As a hiker you have an appetite and hunger and a small 2DL of milk is a bit puny. A drink was charged but not delivered (most). So a relatively disappointing visit.

I feel comfortable here and enjoy the beautiful view. The service is friendly and helpful, the kitchen is also competent and with the mountains I almost feel like I'm in heaven. Thank you very much, I will definitely come back.

We just stopped for a short brake. Great view, fresh cold water. A stop when you walk or if you take the cable car too.

After a long and arduous climb out of Beatenberg (difficult/steep route). We were able to settle down there and recharge our batteries. Super nice service, there was a lot of food and it was very tasty. I think the price/performance ratio is right, for Switzerland. A bit expensive for Germans. The view is simply beautiful.

Good cold and warm dishes for small and large appetites. The bratwurst tastes like everywhere else, but the onion sauce is really good, as are the delicately seasoned French fries. The homemade carrot cake is also recommended. Friendly staff, nice view.

When we asked whether there would still be fondue, the waitress said that she would ask. GREAT, we were served a wonderful, great, fine fondue with lots of “accessories”! Thank you for that. We really liked the view AND the food. Gladly again.

The waitresses were very slow at serving us and there weren’t that many people and we were standing at a table and asked food but she said we weren’t aloud to eat there

Impressive scenery and a great restaurant

Very nice mountain restaurant. Friendly staff. There is a rather smaller menu with various typical dishes, fresh and local instead of industrially prepared mass-produced goods. The view from the sun terrace is phenomenal! Whether it's a lunch while skiing, a snack stop on a hike or just a coffee, you're always in the right place at the Vorsass mountain restaurant. When the weather is nice, the terrace is usually very busy.

Wonderful resting point during the walk from the Niederhorn to Beatenberg. Excellent lunch menu and terrace with an incredibly beautiful view. You can take the cable car here to the Niederhorn or to the valley station.

Always happy for a snack. Unfortunately this time it was overcrowded.

Fine food, fair prices, great views

At the end of a 4-hour walk, this was the place to take a rest. Had some delicious drinks and food. The staff wasn't sure if there was any cake left and what quantity, but in the end four people were able to enjoy it!

The ideal refreshment option for a cold drink while hiking.

Rude staff, tables were clearing up and they were dismissive and said there were no tables available. We waited a minute and sat one of the table. The guy gave us a menu in german and we asked for an english menu. He said they didn’t have any and walked away without offering help. Came back to take the order we told him we were leaving because we cant read the menu. He told us you can google translate it. We refused. He then said “ it is impolite to order then leave” I asked him what have we ordered? He fumbled then pointed to the TAP water. I told him I’ll pay for it how much is it? He then gave us looks and said I’ll check inside he then came and told us it was 4 CHE something, and I asked him if could pay by card he gave us looks and pointed at the german menu saying it says it must be over 15 CHE to pay by card. I told him I cant read his language. I don’t know if the guy is rude or slow tbh.

Great mountain hiking area with railway access, restaurants, nature experiences. A destination with many possibilities 🇨🇭🏃‍♀️🤸‍♂️🏃 Gladly again

Bärgrestaurant Vorsass: homely, cozy typical mountain parlor. Friendly service, simple menu but fine, authentic dishes. The kitchen does an excellent job: the warm dishes come to the table really hot, are rich and beautifully prepared - great! Moderate prices

Even though the Vorsass restaurant was unfortunately closed during the overhaul of the cable car, I enjoyed the wonderful sunny day and took a break at the restaurant.

Beautiful location with a fantastic view. Rösti was a bit pale and the onion sauce was bland and undercooked, but very good bratwurst.

One star for the location only- horrible service made us wait and follow them to tell them we want to pay for the bill- hot chocolate is just milk with chocolate powder that taste like below average hot chocolate

The service, the ambience and of course the food are convincing in every respect. During a hike on the Niederhorn, the Vorsass restaurant is definitely worth a worthwhile detour and stay.

After our hike we ate a delicious Berkäse and a “Knebelwurst” in front of an amazing panorama. Accompanied by half a white wine from Lake Thun. That's the way it has to be!

The staff must be taught how to deal with customers.

Beautiful hike from the Niederhorn to Vorsass. Short stop in the small but nice mountain restaurant. The food is prepared fresh and with a lot of love. Plum cake is also fantastic because it is homemade and with fine cream from the Bernese Oberland. No cheap cream from a can that tastes like nothing. This restaurant is: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! And finally, a racy descent on the scooter to the middle station of the mountain railway.

Cozy mountain restaurant with outdoor seating and great panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Affordably priced.

Were there in the afternoon after the hike from Niederhorn to enjoy a little refreshment. The ice cream menu is small but nice, the ice cream itself is very tasty and beautifully prepared. The service was also very friendly and accommodating.

Great food. The fish crispies are worth recommending.

Fantastic food. I recommend the cheese slices for a fair price. View is great. The apricot cake with a little cream is a suitable dessert. Easy to reach from the middle station.

The service was very unfriendly, barely said hello and first explained what you weren't allowed to do. You cannot pay by card. If possible, order quickly: the waitress obviously has better things to do...
