Always great up here. Sensational views and an exciting concept with a high-altitude restaurant and a rustic Schnuggebock.

The Waldegg was once a very nice and authentic restaurant under the senior manager Chläus. Unfortunately, since he handed over the helm, it has only been a destination for bus tourists who stoically accept everything. Where winning is the only thing that counts, the charm falls by the wayside...😕the cuisine has been reduced from exquisite to chip shop level, a real shame...and unfortunately still the same...Update 2024 🤨

Always worth a visit if you're hungry.

I really enjoy the Appezeller specialty. Chäshörnli with onion and apple mues. I love sottig's food!

The quality of the food was very good. The staff was poor and not always friendly. A no go was that we had to wait a very long time. Starter - main course - dessert 12-4 p.m. But the dessert looks amazing

We went to the restaurant this afternoon without a reservation. We were immediately assigned a seat by the very friendly waitress, thank you. Very fine soup, cheese croissants and excellent filled Appenzeller schnitzel. Great food and perfect service. Afterwards, of course, shop at the in-house bakery. Super delicious chrömli and bread! Always nice to be there! It is really highly recommended to pay a visit! Price level is charged. But there are also somewhat cheaper menus.

The Waldegg is a nice, homely restaurant with very friendly staff. If you have the choice, you can choose to eat in the Schnuggebock (traditional, like your grandmother's at home) or with a set table in the Waldegg. Both in the same house. Great idea 👍😃

Nice place to sitdown and enjoy the view. The have own bakery, for sure a visit worthy. Stopping always by with my ebike. Would recommend!!!

A very cozy, typically Appenzell restaurant. I really liked the family atmosphere. During the meal, a lot was said about life on a farm a hundred years ago and objects were shown. The food was very rich and tasty. There is also a shop in the house where you can find a large selection of Appenzeller specialties. The restaurant is also well suited for family celebrations; there is a heated tent outside for aperitifs with mulled wine and punch

Beautiful place with old half-timbered houses a very special flair of earlier times. You should have seen it. I was/am thrilled and would come back at any time. Quiet and relaxing and you can go on wonderful hikes in a beautiful natural landscape...

We (couple) went to Waldegg for a cozy dinner last night. The service staff made a mistake. Not bad so far; Mistakes can happen. But the way this mistake was dealt with is like gastronomic excellence. We were immediately informed about the error and found a very appealing option to make us as guests happy again. The service staff was very friendly throughout the evening and the food was extremely tasty. We'd love to come back!

Super great restaurant, fine food, super friendly service. A huge experience is the ziträdli, tintelompen, aunt Emma lädeli, herb garden, Waldegg stall, oxen and cheese dairy. A huge learning experience for young and old. Always happy to come back. A journey through time through old ones times.

We had our family celebration in the Waldegg restaurant. We were completely satisfied. The food was great and the service was very friendly, generous and attentive. The playground is large and varied. A real little children's paradise. We'd love to come back!

Simply a great place with a great view of the Alpstein. Great sun terrace to relax and enjoy. There are also many local specialties in the in-house shop and the unique bakery. Definitely worth a visit.

There is self-service outside. That's why I can't judge the service. But unfortunately the food was only average, but next to the outdoor area there is a small adventure park and play area for children. And the view of the mountains is already good.

It was really an experience! Literally. The traditional cuisine with a lot of attention to detail. There is a lot on offer for the eye. You have to see this for yourself. Even when dealing with the guests, although the service is sometimes really overrun by customers, they always try to do their best and try very hard to ensure that their guests have an unforgettable stay. We booked a yodeling course in a small group and then had lunch at Waldegg. It was 1A top class. Ambience, staff, food, yodeling, everything highly recommended!

Perfect, small snack with a great iced tea.

A very nice restaurant with a view of the Alpstein. As soon as I sat down I was served. I ordered a Schützengarten Lager and a fitness plate with grilled chicken breast. Delicious fresh bread with butter and a dip was served with the fitness plate. The chicken breast from the grill was simply delicious and to the point. The salad was fresh and prepared with love. After this break I was able to finish my hike full and satisfied.

We were there on August 11th. in this wonderful garden restaurant. The view is amazing!! The food was excellent and we have rarely experienced such a friendly, highly motivated waitress (Alex) - despite the many guests. We would like to come again!

Waldegg is worth visiting! There are many free parking spaces, the place is beautiful, the experience is incredible and fun is guaranteed for the whole family. They have a lot of animals, a playground and the facility itself is designed like a typical Swiss house, with its stables, wooden bathrooms, stone ovens, staff dressed in period clothing and typical food. There is even an old-fashioned classroom, with its desks, blackboard and everything. The price is reasonable, within Swiss standards, and the treatment was pleasant (I don't know what it would have been like if we hadn't spoken German, however). In any case, it is highly recommended to spend the day here.

Unfortunately only self-service in the guest garden. Went again.

Spectacular location with lots of animals, great panorama of the Alpstein and good, simple food. Large children's playground and always some hustle and bustle. It's worth a visit, but not so much if you're looking for peace and quiet.

We ate a small salad and the wonderful wood-fired bread.

Food and service (Greek MA with mask) very good. Very nice atmosphere, Christmas nativity scene with live animals very atmospheric. The boss doesn't believe in masks, like all the other employees. Covid certificate will not be checked! When will someone take action? Restaurants that only complain about their reduced sales but do not comply with the simplest rules should look forward to 2G and closures! Your behavior certainly contributed to this! A really great restaurant in a beautiful building with a beautiful view. The friendliness of the employees is warm and the performance is great. During our hike we enjoyed a very good Pinot Gris on the terrace in the winter sun. On another occasion we also want to experience the culinary delights. We will be back... ;-)

Experience gastronomy. I liked it and the food was delicious.

Well, we went there yesterday because of the guild listing. The amuse göl was old, dried bread with a moderate garlic sauce or alternatively a tiny piece of Appenzeller butter. The pork schnitzel in the Viennese style, a strange breading similar to coarse wheat semolina. The lemon wedge is no longer the youngest either. The spaetzle turn hard and dried out, unsuccessful softening in a buttery sauce. To top it off, there was a somewhat brash waiter who was better at wet research, probably hired from the large canton due to a staff shortage. An adhesive residue from the previous table partially stuck the newspaper to the table top. As he walked past, the waiter swiped at it unsuccessfully without saying anything. Always thought the table would be cleaned before the next guest. Conclusion: despite the beautiful location, we will drive past it in the future. Thank you very much !

Delicious food, nice ambience and lots of fun. It's a shame you can't get espresso at the Tintelompe. However, ink smudge is very expensive. It was cheaper 5 years ago and the price was just upper limit there. Today I think the Tintelompe is overpriced. Nevertheless there are 4 stars instead of 3
