Yalda in Zürich

Really good food for reasonable (Zürich) prices. Service was good as well. Extremely noisy, however, and could barely hear my colleagues in conversation. Would recommend a different time than a busy Thursday night.

The buffet is generous, with a lot of varieties, all fresh and delicious. My favorite restaurant for lunch.

❗Warning, the Yalda is pretty good. How come? 6 reasons: 1. Because it has a buffet with a lot of choice 2. Because there is something for everyone (vegetarian and vegan). 3. Because it is rather inexpensive (12-25 CHF per lunch) 4. Because it is centrally located 5. Because you can reserve online. You practically always have to! 6. Because we liked it Negative: Actually only if you don't like a buffet. We always like to come back.

I found the food good and very tasteful. The falafel were well fried and very crispy. I found the buffet beautifully presented. I really liked the decor with the pillows. I will gladly come again. It's expensive but definitely worth a visit.

As a group of 4 we enjoyed our time at Yalda on a Friday night. It does get busy so of you're looking for a quiet time I suggest you carefully pick your time of visit. It's a vivid restaurant which we liked and this naturally comes with some noise sometimes. This place is self-service so go and try as many different things as possible - it will be worth it. Pricing is on the more expensive side though.

Middle Eastern restaurant near Zurich Central Station Since it's Valentine's Day, all the restaurants are full. I managed to find a seat here. It was a restaurant that offered Middle Eastern cuisine and arranged dishes in grams. The dishes include authentic spice dishes, hummus, lasagna style, etc... Some of the dishes were a little too salty, but since most restaurants in the EU have large portions per plate, you can choose as much as you can eat, so you can enjoy it from large to small portions.

Very fine food, and in addition to the excellent food, the warm welcome, super warm-hearted service and an even more charming service man, peppered with a lot of humor - mega, highly recommended

The service was excellent and extremely friendly. The fresh buffet offered an impressive selection of traditional dishes. The quality of the ingredients was noticeable and the variety of tastes was impressive. We will definitely come back to experience this culinary delight again.

Middle Eastern buffet offers terrific food, wide selection and value! Great, casual atmosphere. Busy so come early or reserve ahead for a table.

Was at Yalda District 8 and ordered shawarma. By far the worst schwarma in... also very stingy with the filling and overpriced. No star deserved.

Nice buffet, dessert great. Unfortunately the food is not quite hot on the plate and the prices are not differentiated. Whether I eat falafel, meat, salad or bread, it all costs the same amount, which makes no sense to me. Chairs a bit uncomfortable and drafty but very nicely decorated inside and nice staff.

Food was alright The girl behind the till today 3rd jan with curly hair was very kind and attentive , The lamps heating the food could be warmer for the food to be hot when you bring to table.

The food there 🍱 is great! Big choice of different oriental dishes, including sweet things 😋 Even if it is booked out you can give it a try as they keep some tables out of reservation system just for random guests popping in.

Lovely food, very kind staff but extremely rude manager. I asked one of the staff for a bag to carry two food containers. The manager, being a few meters away (not the direct person I was talking to, and not in the cash machine) immediately replied: “50 Rappen”.. I don’t know, did it seem that I was not going to pay it…? It must have been that I order it from too good to go app… or I was annoying him with asking for bag. It is sad for the rest of the people working in there.

The vegan selection is a bit poor. Otherwise there would be more asterisks.

I made a reservation 4 days ago and wanted a more “private” table. When we arrived we didn't have a nice table and were in the middle of a hustle and bustle. I was a little disappointed. You might have seen that on my face. In any case, she said it was the last free table (that didn't cheer me up either). It's loud at lunchtime. It is a very popular restaurant with many guests. My mother is vegetarian. The selection of warm vegetables was limited to 1 type. I liked the cold buffet better. It's a bit cramped at the buffet. I won't go there again as there wasn't enough choice for vegetarians. The restaurant is otherwise very nice.

Nice atmosphere, ok food, was definitely not blown away. It’s basically a buffet of Middle Eastern dishes, but for a buffet, I prefer Hiltl in terms of quality and variety of food options. Water was given for free which is a plus.

Wednesday, around 5 p.m. The large compartment on the right in the restaurant is empty, completely empty, we are the first to arrive there. Nevertheless, we are not allowed to sit down at an ordinary table because we supposedly “just want to drink”. “Up there,” says the waitress and points to the window counter with the cheap stools. When we asked what else we would like to eat after the drink, there was no answer. Is this your new standard? Half the restaurant is empty and you don't allow us to occupy a free, unreserved, small table for two for 45 minutes to have a drink with possible dessert? Instead, you point us to the rickety bar stools displayed frontally in front of the window? Sure, because sitting sideways on stools in a restaurant is as cool and hip as sitting drunk alone in a bar 🤦🏻‍♂️ No problem, a few meters further you are welcome in Tibits and you won't be chased like a dog when there are empty tables where you can and can't sit.

Always my pleasure, Excellent selection of fresh, delicious dishes from the Orient. Lots of different sauces and salads. The warm buffet always offers shawarma, rice, falafel and a variety of other high-quality specialties. It's a little crowded around the buffet at lunchtime 12-12.30. Very pleasant from 12.45.

Cool location, cool concept. Unpretentious. Friendly staff. Eating, well, that's how it works. Very little seasoning for oriental dishes. Moussaka almost tasteless.

It's our new favourite place. We've nearly been there every Friday evening. It's become a bit of a ritual. The staff have consistently impressed us and not just because they recognised us from a previous visit. The buffet has been spot on every time, and the price surprises me still, so there's always a tip. Looking forward to our next visit. Keep it up.

We initially came here because the restaurant had aircon but we stayed for dinner because the food looked so good. Almost everything we tried was fantastic although we all thought the falafel was too dry, which was remmedied by the various yummy sauces and condiments. I felt the dessert was good if also a little monotone (mostly just different types of baclava).

Excellent service and food! One of its kind gourmet middle eastern buffet! Price is charged by weight of food which ensures no wastage. A fabulous variety of hummus, veggies and desserts. Great ambience and exceptionally kind and attentive staff…. Will be back if I visit Zurich again.

Food is super delicious, lots of fine sauces and furniture make for a super fancy & cozy atmosphere :D... The only downside is that it's a little too expensive (but like in the whole of Zurich :( )

I absolutely loved this place. My husband and I stumbled across this restaurant as we were heading to another booking. We decided to stop and have starters but ended up with a full plate of food. Lots of vegetarian options and super tasty dishes. Really friendly staff. We will most certainly be back!

Buffet - charged by weight . Very nice variety and great food. It's the only place in Zurich I know that makes (a very tasty) greek-style musaka. Tried a couple other dishes, from which I can recommend the chicken shawarma. Want to go again and try more dishes.

Interior reminds me of Morocco. The food was really good - especially the different hummus was very tasty. The service is always friendly and accommodating. The prices are a bit high, but understandable in this location...I'll be back

Very cool concept: diverse Lebanese, Croatian, Turkish buffet to weigh yourself. Everything tasted very good. This hairy shaggy dessert was sinfully delicious! 🤤 Only the Kir Yalda had a lot of syrup in it and was too sweet for my taste.

I prefer to sit on a chair, I don't find the cushions comfortable

I recently visited with a friend Yalda on Europaallee in Zurich and had a pleasant experience. Overall, I would recommend this place. Yalda offers an open buffet which has lots of food options. I loved the Lebanese starter dishes (baba ganoush) and the moussaka. I wasn't excited by the hummus types and found them tasteless. The location, as everything in this area, was great too - easy to find because close to the train station. It's a place to go if you have children, as the furniture is modern and comfortable. The service was polite and friendly, although it was self-service. The only downside was the price, in my opinion, is expensive for what you get.

DO NOT pay by foreign card! Instead of charging in CHF, they charge your card in the foreign coin as a 'service' against a very bad exchange rate. They claim it's not a scam.

It's very busy at lunchtime and there are traffic jams at the buffet and when paying. Pretty loud. The food tastes delicious, a bit too much onions and garlic for my taste, but that's what this cuisine has to offer.

Unfortunately, the plate trolley rumbles back and forth between the kitchen and the buffet every few minutes and causes an annoying noise

Once you learn how the system works (you serve your food, weigh it, then pay at the end along with your drinks) it’s quite enjoyable. Drinks are also good on their own. Might be busy.

The food is very tasty and you pay by weight. The service brings the drinks (water is not free). Overall I found it a bit expensive. But the staff was very friendly and the selection for vegetarians and vegans was very large.

It's a wonderful buffet of fresh, healthy, mediterreanian food. Take as much or as little as you like - you pay by weight. Friendly staff, good location, clean, and cozy. What's not to like 👍

Far from authentic oriental food. i would recommend that the chefs take a crashcourse from an arab mother/grandmother. Its a pity cause the Restaurant has a nice ambiente.

Unfortunately disappointed, food is almost not seasoned, not even lukewarm and the drinks are extremely overpriced. Just under 6 francs for a can of Cola is not appropriate, even in Zurich.

Bread has to be paid for separately - very incomprehensible. Water in pet bottles in restaurants is a no go for me. Prices for food very high. Ambience great.

Definitely 5 stars. Huge selection, very tasty and fair prices. The selection of hummus alone is large and I have never had better chicken shawarma anywhere. I just think it's a shame that you have to pay extra for a piece of pita bread. The terrace is very nice in sunny weather. You can also study or work well here. Great place for lunch or dinner buffet! The place has an open buffet which has lots of food options, like moussaka, chicken shawarma, a few types of hummus and lebanese starter dishes (baba ganoush).. They also have desserts like baklava (or chocolate baklava) and a few others.. At the end, they weight your plate and you pay depending on that. I highly recommend the harissa paste! Great quality of food!
